At first, Riddle felt a bit thrown off by the silence between you two—wondering if he had messed up somehow. You can’t help but roll your eyes at his light-hearted joke, but you keep going, fueled by your enthusiasm.

He’s really listening, though, nodding along and watching you with a soft look in his eyes as you wave your hands around, totally caught up in your ideas. Even if he doesn’t say a lot while you’re rambling on, you know he’s soaking it all in. Later, he’ll surprise you by mentioning something you talked about, and your heart will skip a beat knowing he remembered every little detail.

That being said, he's actually really chill as long as you don't annoy him, and is very loyal and protective should you become his friend.

THE yellowjackets cast panel debrief

okay, guys, so I JUST got home, here's everything I can remember from the panel! I have a few videos too, but I'll try and post those tomorrow bc I have to lock in for my final after this ☹️

first of all they all looked BEAUTIFUL and all three of them were in like six inch heels like bad bitches

the mod asked a bunch of questions about how they got cast in the first place etc. which was cute

sammi talked abt how she was originally called in for nat and that she wore black lipstick to the audition LOL

she ended this conversation by saying 'anyways i love you sophie thatcher' .... don't we all

melanie is SO sweet every time they would talk abt all the crazy shit shauna's been doing in the adult tl there would be a pause and we'd all look at melanie and she'd be sitting there like 😇

they were talking about the funerals/death parties for the teen tl and the mod asked melanie and christina if they did anything like that for the adult tl deaths and they were talking about how they literally have to film scenes sometimes and then fly home to their kids and melanie was like 'yeah one time i literally got onto the plane with fake blood still on my face'

basically steven kreuger is everyone's fav cast member bc when they got ask whose death shocked them the most/they were saddest about they all said him 😭

they also hope he'll come back to haunt someone next season (nat or misty) so they can have more scenes with him

per the above point melanie said that alexa told her that mari was pit girl when they were walking in to sammi's baby shower so she just walked into the shower already sobbing

everyone joked that javi would've had to die at some point bc luciano grew up rlly fast and he wouldn't have looked like he was aging at the right rate LMAO

sammi is all in on all the fan theories and constantly reading reddit, meanwhile christina's google account is set to the wrong language and sophie nelisse sends melanie tik toks all the time but melanie doesn't know how to open them

when asked who they thought the final one standing would be they said they hoped it was more than one but if it's anyone they joked it was gonna be walter

talked a LOT about the details of the set and the outfits, sammi drew attention to the fact that even though the huts looked really advanced the showrunners put a lot of effort into making sure everything was plausible. like the wire holding much of the huts together is from the plane's electronics, etc.

she talked about how one of her wilderness outfits (i think for when they ate mari or during the hunt) was sewn out of the seats from the plane

the mod asked whether they thought the teens or adults were more scary and sammi brought up a rlly interesting point (aided by christina) that the teens generally seem 'scarier' because in the wilderness they have literally nothing to lose. but by the end of s3 they've once again lost everything (shauna losing jeff and callie, misty being all alone, tai losing van) that now they're starting to become more and more similar

and now, my favorite parts of the panel (aka mistynatgate)

so, the whole conversation begins with the final girl convo i previously mentioned and the mod asks them all if they've seen the discourse online about it and it devolved into a conversation about fan theories and reddit etc.

mod asks sammi what her favorite fan theory she's seen is after sammi mentions being chronically online and she goes "wow that's such a tough question...." and then thinks for a little bit and comes up with "well, i don't know but i really enjoy all the shipping and how people ship the characters together"

at this point melanie and christina are looking at sammi like girl fym and so sammi is like "yeah like saying how certain characters are in love and making edits of them and stuff" and then UNPROMPTED by the crowd or anyone:

sammi goes: "like mistynat!"

at this point everyone in the crowd loses their shit and christina is like wait HUH

and she goes "wait but nat is so mean to misty"

and they crowd is like playfully arguing and sammi goes "oh i have an edit i need to show you later then 😏"

HUH?? HUH?? TEARS IN MY MISTYNAT EYES

also other mistynat crumbs include: sammi mentioning sophie thatcher ANY chance she gets, telling the mod the thing she's most excited for in s4 is to see what happens to nat post-crash, and christina telling the mod that out of everyone she wants nat to come back and haunt misty because she wants to get "heckled by juliette"

a couple other cute things:

sammi told everyone the teen cast constantly sends edits and tik toks to each other and that their groupchat is called 'nasty 90s'

nuha (krystal) and nia (akilah) are flying down to cali next week and they're going on a road trip with sammi! 🥹

butcherqueen crumbs when mod asked melanie who she'd most want to be haunted by and she answered "simone. obviously, because....obviously" and then subsequently ranted about how courtney was the most gorgeous person to ever walk the earth

sammi getting emotional talking about alexa/mari dying and how sad she's going to be when she's not on set next season and subsequently going "well, no, she'll be there" like SAMMI??? WHAT DO YOU KNOW GIRL??

melanie telling a story about how they accidentally found out melissa survived to the adult tl because when they filmed the bar scene after nat's funeral the call sheet said 'adult melissa double' bc of the bathroom scene but the showrunners hadn't told them yet

and, finally: SOPHIE T SENDS THE NAT IMPRESSION TIK TOKS TO SAMMI ALL THE TIME 😭

I wanted the story to be compatible with canon. Which means the characters should feel and look canon, right?

It's really sad that Donnie doesn't have a canon design. Not so sad is the fact that his clothing style definitely has a pattern. Just..Look at them

So when I thought "hmmmm, how would adult Donnie dress?" my first thought was to look at adult Leo's clothes~

But I also wanted Donnie to be able to fly. So no cape or any long fabric for him.

As a result, yes, Donnie wears pretty much the same stuff but slightly different style. And purple. Obviously lol

I also tried to take geometry and shapes into account. Leo's design contains smoother yet sharp elements. Donnie's design is more squarish and angular.

But none of that negates the fact that I originally made up this design thinking I was only using it for a 🤌two-page mini comic🤌.

Which means that an impressive percentage of my decisions were driven by the " fuck it, we ball" mindset. His wrist monitor disappeared because I was too lazy to draw it. That logo on his belt existed only in my thoughts, I was too lazy to draw it too. His goatee is pure design flex of mine. I thought it would be funny

Imma change the setting a little bit.

So, the Drakes despise wings. When Tim grew his, they made him wear an amulet that hid his wings. No one in public was to be made aware that the Drake heir had wings.

Was this severally damaging to Tim? Yes.

Anyways, before Jason dies, Tim gets captured by Joker. We have all of the usual stuff with JJ, but Joker discovers this kid has wings.

And... well. That won't do. How can Junior be Joker's son if he's a bird (which is similar sentiments the Drakes have stated to Tim)?

So Joker removes his wings.

Tim gets away somehow, and no one knows that the Drake heir was JJ (if they do know about Junior). Tim tells his parents that he elected to have his wings removed by a trusted surgeon.

The Drakes, ecstatic at Tim's thinking or what not, stick around for a bit. They shower him in love and praise.

Tim internalizes this. He thinks his parents love him now that he's no longer a hybrid.

It doesn't last.

Moving on, Jason ends up dying. Joker, remembering his "son," removes Jason's wings as well. He even sends then to Batman like a fucked up package.

Batman goes berserk (which... fair. I would too if someone sent me my metaphorical kid's limbs).

Tim steps up to be Robin.

He still has hybrid instincts, but he's a pro by now at hiding them.

Batman, in an odd turn of events for Tim, actually wants Tim to be a hybrid. As far as the man knows, though, Tim isn't (and if Bruce, when he's really tired, sees Tim out of the corner of his eye and thinks it's wingless Jason coming back to haunt him... well).

So Tim struggles to be a wingless Robin until he gets the bright idea to make fake ones.

For the first time, Tim can actually fly (and if some part of him mourns that he never got to fly with his original wings, nobody else has to know).

It's rough, and he's had no support from Bruce with the wings, but the grunt of approval at their appearance was worth the electrical burns on Tim's hands.

Tim, when he's alone at TT, doesn't wear his wings. He's not on a mission, and no one is around for him to compromise his identity...

Until Jason breaks in.

The GIW finally managed to get their hands on the Phantom menace, thankfully helped by the recent changes in the ghost in a Moth-like direction, and with the recent explosion giving it an orphan status, it was all too easy to get the ghost into their hands.

Of course, there was the ghost's godfather, but a few government tricks and he was erased from having any to all connection with the thing.

But due to it being the Phantom menace, it was quite difficult to control. So that lead to one scientist having the brilliant (sarcasm) idea to run a test that made it more... manageable.

That somehow involved it becoming a child, with the added and original plus with its powers no longer being easily controlled by it. But that, paired with a child-like mind didn't become well.

At the very least, it was easier to physically subdue when it wasn't throwing a tantrum. But they encountered another problem that came as an unintentional side-effect.

It was cute.

Like a stuff toy you would sleep with as a child, or a show with a cutesy art style and anything that just made one go "Awww" and that? That was a problem.

The guards just didn't have to become attached, and everything shouldn't been fine. But one of them did and that somehow lead to the thing escaping and that was highly annoying.

Oh well, it shouldn't have gotten too far, all things considered. Various injuries aside, its powers do not come as easily as it did to it before, and there were not many times to practice ones such as flight.

It will come back to their hands, either forcefully, or willingly.

Danny, fully pumped on adrenaline and fear, has been pushing himself to fly for he doesn't even know how long. But he's becoming very tired, and can feel his power slipping from his fingertips.

Or maybe that was the blood, he couldn't tell.

He kept going, pushing himself farther past his limit to just, escape. But he couldn't do so forever, he had to drop sometime, and that time seemed to be coming closer with each and every passing second.

Eventually, he dropped, and he quickly tried to do that gliding thing he was kinda good at. It helped, though he did hit into a few trees, here and there, but he got down to the forest floor, fell, got up, and forced himself to walk.

His vision was really fuzzy, everything he touched felt like static beneath his fluffy hands and feet, and he could hear everything so clearly yet nothing at all.

He just had to keep walking, and he would be okay.

Just persevere, and everything would turn out okay.

Everything would be, okay.

He just had to keep moving.

Even if his legs felt like static, his chest burning and his wings dragging behind him as he found it harder and harder to breath as black started to eat away at his vision.

Everything would be okay.

He just had to persevere.

Eventually, he couldn't, falling to the forest floor as his eyes slowly dropped as black consumed his vision.

He couldn't persevere.

So, Killer Moth was just in a forest, as one would, looking for quite the rare specimen of Moth larvae that he could use in his plot to take over Jump City.

Why this forest?

It was pretty far away from Jump City, that's why. No pesky Titans to interrupt his search here, which happened once, wasn't fun might he add.

During said collection, he found what looked to be a child passed out on the forest floor.

Now, any reasonable person would question why there was a child on the forest floor, which he was tempted to do, before realizing that said child is perhaps an escaped experiment, based on the precise wounds upon his body.

Said child was a moth humanoid.

He didn't like that, someone tried to take his theme!

Oh well, their loss, his gain. Another moth to add to his ever-growing army, and his another he could use in his attempt to take over Jump City.

Behold, my Touhou Project Inscryption Au that I started working on before all the stuff with Touhou 20 went down. Mainly finished this so I could get it out of my head lol.

No one asked for this. No one needed this, but I have free will and this is how I choose to use it lmao.

Artist's Notes;

Full disclaimer I have never played Inscryption before, I have only seen gameplay videos going through the entire game and have watched lore recaps, analyses, and videos on it. I do still love this game though and want to play it someday.

I remember it was during one of my many rewatches of Markiplier's Inscription playthrough (The Flying Uryaruli never gets old, plus they're kinda comfort videos lmao) that I thought of the dumb idea of "what if Chimata was in it?" and thus this idea was born. My initial concept of this was "the devil added microtransactions to his game" (bonus points if you understand that reference), which then evolved into "what if Megumu, Tsukasa, and Momoyo were the other scribes" which then evolved into me thinking way to fucking hard about this idea and deciding to swap out those three for other characters to be the scrybes. I'm sure you can tell who I chose for the new scrybes based on the cards (it's Zanmu and Keiki), though I did leave a hint as to who would be replacing which scrybe in this AU (hint, look at their health and attack line's, Keiki's attack is 1 btw it just got covered up by Zanmu's card). That part will probably become clearer as I develop the concept more (which will probably come in a long while) but in the meantime I'll explain the abilities more.

So I decided to adapt the cost into coins because in my mind, Chimata would focus really really hard on the collectathon trading card aspect. In fact, I imagine that in the beginning of this AU she's say something like, "and if you collect all of the cards, you'll be able to find a special little promo code in them. For what exactly? Well where's the fun in me telling you that now!" As I wrote in the image above (for those who can't read the font it says, "Balancing isn't exactly my forte, so some of the cards I gave you in your base deck have a 50/50 shot of being trash or stupidly overpowered!") Chimata probably doesn't care for the balancing and mainly wants to oversee the exchange in ownership with trading cards. I know characters like Nemuno or Ubame fit Leshy's vibes more but Chimata was kinda the progenitor of this idea and I think it would make more sense for her to care about cards so much so yeah lol (also there is a specific part in Act 1 of the game where I think Chimata's theming with the moon in Stage 6 of UM would work really well).

Also, in this AU, Sumireko would be the protagonist who runs a lost media Youtube channel where she discovers the cartridge with Inscryption in a similar way that Luke did in the OG game.

As for the effects on the cards, I'll go over them briefly:

Zanmu's sigil would negate the effects of the opposing creature's sigil, I was initially gonna give her the "if an opposing card attacks this one, it doesn't" sigil but decided that would be too OP and went for this idea instead.

Keiki's sigil basically functions like the warren sigil in the original game, where upon placing her down on the board she gives the player a free Haniwa card (which would be 1 attack 2 health and no cost). For obvious reasons I think this fits Keiki pretty well.

So the main purpose of this AU isn't to be 1 to 1 with the game's characters personality-wise (for reasons that will become apparent if you know who Keiki is substituting for) but in terms of theming I did try to think about who would fit best (other than Chimata but again, she's kinda got special treatment since I just though the idea of her constantly pulling out microtransactions to get herself more faith or trying desperately to convince Sumireko to get another person to play the game so she has someone to trade with would be funny). Visually this will also look different from Inscryption because...ain't no way I'm replicating that and also I want to use this as an oppurtunity to let myself do harsh lighting because I love doing harsh lighting in my drawings :D

Again, this is going to be an ongoing project of mine that is mainly gonna be shitposts like this. As you can see with the drawing I did not care about rendering the metal scale much and focused more on getting the shading on Chimata right. I also changed some things about her design and added some stuff, mainly changing how her dress pattern works, added some shoulder ornamentation to her cape, and gave her some nice big golden sphere earrings because I know she'd wear something like that.

Not the most proud of this piece (I finished this at around 10:30 at night so I was kinda eepy finishing this up) but for a shitpost, this is really all it need to be tbh.

So in all seriousness actually I do think Gelidon manages to be a fantastic recurring threat, as opposed to villains who lost their luster before the end (if there was one) like Delilah, Ludinus, and Otohan, for a couple of reasons.

The first is that the Mighty Nein's first encounter was both a threatening/antagonistic one and one that did not strictly require any violence. I was reading about the one-hit-point dragon concept, (worth checking the links in that article, specifically the original 16-hit-point dragon concept) and that encounter is a great example! They have a specific goal. They know how far they are from achieving it. They are incentivized to take their time and investigate - which serves as RP time and an opportunity for more details to come to light; the Mighty Nein in particular did a lot of full-party library visits where a few people would research the dragon and others would research something else, leading to incredible lore and worldbuilding. Knowing the problem (how do we get a dragon to breathe on this metal without dying) means they consider creative solutions, and those solutions require them to work together, strengthening relationships. I like combat in D&D - but the Gelidon encounter works both within the context of the campaign and as a mini story in and of itself, rather than just a battle.

Gelidon returns much later, bearing a grudge the party did not know she had (though I'm sure they suspected), and not only is it a complete surprise and random encounter; it's a puzzle again! They do not need to defeat her; they just need to get away (with the added complication of a flying enemy and the not-entirely-allied Tomb Takers).

Gelidon's motivations are simple and honestly deserved (they did bother her and steal her stuff) and she doesn't overstay her welcome. Combat with her is consistently dynamic and challenging and doesn't feel like just chipping away at hit points. She shows up twice and both of those times matter; compare to Delilah and Ludinus, who feel at times like obstacles thrown in the path simply to have an obstacle, rather than to tell a story (literally why did Ludinus care about the shards.) And at the same time, her remaining free doesn't feel bad! She's a dragon that they bothered who holds a grudge, but she's not trying to destroy the entire world about it.

I know this post was a joke, but really, of the surviving recurring villains? Gelidon is in fact the narratively strongest option.

Why the lens of NPD makes Blixer the funniest possible character.

NPD standing for, obviously, Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Lets get a few things out of the way. Mainly that I do not aim for this to be a demonising lens. Moreso a "hey if i was in this circle's situation id do the same". Villains being vain, narcissistic abusers is a very, very common trend, even in media that claims it is more progressive than it actually is. This isn't being written to show why Blixer is evil, but how he does everything.

Secondly. A crown on a narcissist is usually just an easy sign to go "this guy's a narcissist". Most clipart you see for "surviving narcissists" has one guy looking into the mirror, and the mirror self having a crown and being cool and evil and whatever. This sucks for obvious reasons (its a disorder. normal people have disorders, not evil kings?), but it is also a REALLY GOOD symbol to 'reclaim'. I personally love it.

Why is this circle so fucking angry?

A pretty frequent feature in the NPD package is when anything that feels like an attack on you is one. It's not an accident, that person was trying to sabotage you. In a JS&B lens, this helps explain two key moments.

Why Blixer didn't really enjoy the player at the start of the game (exploded, plus the lost chapter stuff). If you've been in a cave for one morbillion years or whatever, and someone just Dodges All Your Attacks and then walks away when you explode, it'd be pretty infuriating. Also why this guy beat up an innocent bystander. Fly high, flower.

Annihilate. This is actually the biggest one for me. Your whole little evil pink kingdom just got fucking destroyed, and then the person who did so takes a representation of your ego and just goes "hey this is mine now :-)". When NPD makes you maladaptively regulate self esteem AND you just got insulted (in your eyes) in every way possible, you might get a little upset. You might become a blood centipede monster. I would too.

He doesn't do that much bad stuff directly.

Most of the issues ingame seemingly happen from the giant industry + tower he spawned and the corruption in general. Other than beating the shit out of a guy (we don't care about them) in the opening cutscene, he really doesn't do all that much in person until the player appears.

Why? What is he doing? We all know this. He is playing guitar on top of the tower for most of the game. This is someone who finally got the ego boost / supply he needed and then had fun with his own hobbies. From the lens of "guy who feels like he needs to literally rule the world to be seen and understood."

But he still did all that shit.

He still corrupted the world though. Which was probably a bad thing. However. If all your AUs are going to make it so he originally felt isolation over the corruption, then I raise you this:

Being an absolute nobody is the worst feeling in the world.

And as soon as he took over the world and basically forced everyone to call him his king, then and only then did he just start having fun and #playing. A possible way to frame this is him being too stupid to effectively rule over the world, but I don't think thats fun.

If his main goal was to make it so he was the centre of attention AND that everyone was like him (pink (which is called bad in a fucking In-Game Tip)) then he would've basically won already in his own head by the time the game fully starts. And he can finally do regular people - shape - things. He did all that stuff, but clearly this geometric circle didn't really have any other option considering he got so pissed off he made the world evil and that's hard to come back from.

Also it's important to mention that during the moment where he actually kind of Takes Over The World he's definitely not thinking rationally after eating the tree of life.

I think he took the world takeover thing too seriously.

Or maybe not seriously enough. Depends on how you look at it.

This is me mostly making fun of this circle but can you imagine getting all this power, and the first thing you do is take over the world. That's normal. The second thing you do is make yourself a crown. Okay. The third thing you do is absolutely nothing else. He seems more focused on the image of a ruler than anything.

If everything went right, he would have even had a sign showing he was the actual final boss. Which becomes a funny meta example where that level isn't even the actual final boss and instead he (it's his tower's sign, after all) put all that work towards the image of a final boss rather than actually being one. Although this doesn't hold much weight when we consider that he became a cannon just to kill us, I think he tried pretty hard.

Why not just fix what you've done, Blixer?

Admitting you're wrong and also getting rid of the only thing keeping your ego afloat isn't easy. In fact, it's genuinely painful. If he managed to actually calm down after basically eating the energy equivalent of a hydrogen bomb, then it'd kind of be almost impossible to look at all you did and say "damn, I was wrong".

It's easier to actually know you did something wrong when the consequences hit you and you can't do anything else but accept what you did. Postgame fans write that down.

Him learning and growing to be a better person would be awesome if it's also from the lens of NPD.

If fucking Kuzco (of Disney fame) could do it he could too. NPD is a disorder and thus has disordering traits, but I do think working with this for the character kind of helps when it comes to improving it in postgame stories. He starts off with basically NO ways to work with what are life-shatteringly important needs, and does maladaptive things in order to help.

Anger? Lashing out at people that Slighted him. Being a vain little prick? Trying to keep himself on a pedestal before it crumbles underneath him. Turning yourself into a blood centipede nightmare monster? A reasonable* reaction in his perspective.

You can learn to care about people's thoughts even if you started off. Um. Taking over the world.

There's a lot more to NPD than being an evil person and abuser. Starting off with no empathy doesn't really mean a death sentence. You can have him learn helping others is Good Actually but still slip up. Imagine a beautiful world with a postgame Blixer who has friends now and still has NPD. Imagine. If he's still pink and "corrupted" while being good, you can understand a world where he can be narcissistic and still be good.

I can take you to that world 🕊️ 🌾 🌹 ☀️...

Finally: NPD is a comedic disorder

It's true. Sometimes the world feels like it breaks apart because you are being Unloved and potentially hated. Not EVERYONE likes you, and that makes the world feel like it's being torn apart at the seams. You go from feeling at the top of the world to feeling like shit.

And then as soon as you're back up and running you look back at that and go "hmm. maybe not as serious as i thought".

You can do so much with this. There's more to NPD than what the masses know. "guy who literally did all this to be cool to himself" is just an insanely funny concept to me. He could've just been at the club.

NPD isn't always about physical vanity unlike what clipart tells you. It's about Pretty Unsafe levels of self esteem (from high highs to low crashes), and him fitting the bill makes him feel like a more interesting character to me.

Aside from some of the basic premise and the space elevator (I think I see that in the concept art), were there any other elements from Maretropolis you were planning to incorporate in Andromi? (Sorry if you've already answered something like this elsewhere.)

Boy this is a blast from the past lmao. I can't even remember the last time someone brought up Maretropolis.

For context for anyone who doesn't know, Maretropolis was an MLP fancomic I started working on aaaaallllllllll the way back in 2012, set in a sci-fi AU. It starred a Rainbow Dash who had gotten into a bad flying accident and had several of her limbs replaced with cybernetic prosthetics by Twilight, who's a roboticist in this universe. It sounds a little grimdark when I describe a My Little Pony character losing multiple limbs in a horrific accident, but the heart of the story was just that Rainbow Dash had lost her wings, so she would have to try and figure out her place in the world now that she could no longer fly.

I had brainstormed a TON of ideas for this, thinking it'd be like my magnum opus as an MLP fanartist. I channeled my love of sci-fi into all sorts of fun little ideas for how a version of FiM set in a giant sci-fi city would work. Sweet Apple Acres would be a vertical farm in a high-rise greenhouse. Fluttershy would take care of stray animals found around the city. There were these giant spaceport towers visible in the city, and I'm pretty sure I wanted to eventually depict a city on the moon that Luna ruled over. A lot of stuff like that. Surprising no one, there was also going to be a yuri element to it with a romantic arc for Rainbow Dash... though, believe it or not, she was going to fall in love with Pinkie, not Fluttershy, in this story. (I was already exploring FlutterDash over on Fluttershy Replies and wanted to mix things up with another ship I liked, rather than running two blogs about the same ship.) Rainbow would be unable to fly up to her cloudtop apartment after the accident, so Pinkie would let her stay at her place, and then one thing would lead to another.

The problem I quickly ran into, though, was that I just wasn't built to be a comic artist. I'm not that confident as an illustrator to begin with, and I work very slowly, so doing entire comic pages was an ordeal. I'd bitten off more than I could chew, especially with the elaborate city setting that would've really challenged my meager art skills at the time. Before long I switched my focus to making games, since that was my main career goal in the first place. I considered turning Maretropolis into an RPG Maker game or something, but the project just sorta quietly died as my interest shifted. (Especially after I got my C&D from Hasbro that ensured I would never make an MLP fangame again lmao)

Fast forward to 2014, and I started working on an original sci-fi game, Andromi. (Anyone not familiar with that project can read about it here.) And, yes, you're definitely right in noticing some similarities. It was never intended to be a direct retool of the story of Maretropolis or anything, but since Maretropolis was basically just me throwing a bunch of my favorite sci-fi stuff at the wall it was inevitable that I'd revisit some things from that earlier project. Naomi being a cyborg is the obvious one. But I had realized over time that my fun cyborg Rainbow Dash AU was really a story about physical disability, and in hindsight I wasn't sure if 18-year-old Bobby was gonna be able to tell a story like that well. So Naomi has basically nothing in common with Maretropolis Rainbow Dash's planned arc, aside from the fact that they both have cybernetic limbs. (And also, y'know, they'd both be sapphic love stories. But, again, it's me, so that goes without saying.)

And, yes, you're 100% right that I reused some visual elements from Maretropolis in the city in the background of this piece of Andromi art, mainly the giant spaceport towers. Though Andromi was intended to be primarily a small town sci-fi story, so I'm unsure how much of that city we would've actually seen.

There ARE some other story ideas that originated in Maretropolis before evolving into ideas for Andromi. But, well... I'd still like to do something with Andromeda and Naomi someday, so I'm keeping those ideas to myself for now.

Thingy I did for the Admins AU 🩵💚

Context:

Basically the context of this moment is it takes place a week or something after Jesse and Lukas get their powers. Lukas is far more contained with his. He controls them quite well but Jesse on the other hand.. struggles a *lot*. And the townsfolk see it too. They see how when Jesse gets high up in his emotions, he changes, and his irritation with not being able to control his powers only stresses him out and frustrates him more and that causes like the complete form shift and that puts Jesse through like, the worst stress imaginable. Is knowing he's changing in front of people and not being able to control it and he doesn't feel like the hero he once was at all. He feels like a monster.

Anyways there's a point in time where Jesse just doesn't show his face out in town as much because he's terrified of the judgement. He gets the same strange looks he did before he ever became a hero, back when he was a nobody, so he hides from those interactions. Well Lukas definitely notices, and he ends up taking Jesse out somewhere alone, just the two of them. He takes them both somewhere away from civilization, so Jesse can really practice his stuff.

The big thing that has Jesse losing control of his powers is all of his negative emotions towards himself, so it's definitely going to be a "love solves the problem" kind of deal. I like to think one of the big things they practice is Jesse's ability to fly and stuff, and Lukas, regardless of how much Jesse tries to find a different way, decides that the best way for Jesse to really learn is by letting him hold onto him. Because Lukas is a person with a fragile body that he *knows* Jesse would do everything in his power to keep safe. Jesse though, in his admin form, is very cocky despite his sad feelings so he's kind of a brat about it but Lukas is extremely patient with him, and uhh. Jesse reluctantly holds onto Lukas while he lifts up into the air. He's really huffy and embarrassed about it too because after that whole incident in the cave where Lukas took half of Jesse's powers so he could live, Jesse has developed an unimaginable crush on Lukas. Like he already liked him before but now he's sure he loves him, and he's scared of showing those feelings because of well, how he views himself now. So he's really scared of messing this up or making himself look like a fool in front of Lukas.

But! The plan kind of works, because Lukas talks to him while he flies and since Jesse is focused on his conversation and not his emotions towards the powers themselves, it eliminates that stress and has him calmy maintaining a steady control over his flight. And eventually they're just kind of lazily drifting over the landscape, Lukas holding onto Jesse, them both focusing on the scenery as the late evening arrives and the stars begin to shine.

At this time, Jesse is still in his full admin form, he's blue and his eyes glow an eerie turquoise. But eventually Lukas has him stop and Jesse and him come to a stand in the air, Jesse holding Lukas against him and they look at each other. Lukas tells Jesse that he's so proud of him, and to look and see how much he's grown in such short time. Jesse looks around and, though his face still looks so grumpy, he does realize that they've been flying for a long time with no mistakes.

They share some really kind words to each other, Lukas praising Jesse and Jesse very quietly mumbling his gratitude for Lukas and his patience with him.

And uhh for the first time since the cave, Lukas gives Jesse a nice sweet kiss. Jesse doesn't remember it in the cave. He doesn't remember Lukas kissing him, so this comes as a complete shock (he was suuuper out of it) but quite literally every ounce of negativity drains from his body and he slowly begins reverting back to his original self. In the picture he's still in his admins clothes, but his body looks normal, aside from the crazy messy hair which is an admin trait.

Anyways yeah this is the moment Jesse realizes he for sure loves Lukas. And that kiss, and the kind words they shared, immediately calmed him. But uh. They calmed him so hard that when they kiss again, they both actually start falling out of the sky, and Lukas falls away from Jesse's arms in shock and that's when Jesse gains full control of his flight ability and swoops down to grab Lukas up bridal style in his big strong arms.

Lukas is all like "my hero" (he has the ability to fly too, so he was in no real danger, but the moment caused Jesse to take action instantly and use his powers for good).

That alone helps Jesse realize that these powers *can* be used for good. He's still a big grumpy butt in this form, but he still is that same gentle and loving Jesse deep down.

It Could End So Sweetly

I finished the pre-canon different first meeting fic where Tommy mistakes Buck for a bunker bunny and gave it a title and ignored other WIPs I started way before this, whatever whatever. Even though it was supposed to be a porny one-shot, it's now four chapters and an epilogue. Do I blame the discord server? With all the love in my heart: yes, absolutely. You can read the first chapter on AO3 here (rest to be posted every day or two), and here's a preview that you may have already seen from a wip post:

Tommy's the last one of the group to leave the bar, because he's been trying to figure out if he's going home or if he's going to meet a guy who's been messaging him on Grindr all night. The guy's cute—what Tommy can see of his face—and claims to just want to suck someone's dick and have them leave. He'd rather not double back, since the guy's place is pretty close to the bar, so he's nursing another beer and leaning against the bar while he gives the guy another twenty minutes to message back.

“Uh, excuse me?” a slightly scratchy voice says from his left.

Tommy looks over and sees blue and then pink. Blue eyes, pink lips, a deep pink birthmark—just about one of the prettiest faces Tommy's ever seen.

“Sorry,” the guy says, his head ducking a little like he's shy. Jesus, Tommy can feel his heartbeat spike up and goes a little woozy with it. “I, uh, didn't mean to be a creep, but are you a firefighter? I saw your friends, and most of them were wearing their station shirts.”

“Yeah,” Tommy says, turning his body to face the pretty boy who seems so young but stands eye-level with Tommy. A quick glance over him reveals a strong, wiry build and the longest legs Tommy's seen outside a runway. “We're all based out of Harbor Station.”

The guy’s eyes light up, and his smile is like a shot to the heart. “Wait, really? I heard about that place. They do ground and air support, right?”

Tommy smiles, lets himself be a little cocky. “Yeah, that's right. I'm one of their pilots. I fly choppers, mostly, but we do air tanks and stuff, too. You a firefighter?”

“Oh, uh, no,” he admits, his cheeks flushing.

“You a cop?” he asks, and the guy shakes his head.

Tommy's met his fair share of bunker bunnies, but they tend to be smaller and less his type. Mostly because they're almost always women, in his experience.

“Just a fan, then?” he teases, and the flush deepens. He wants to see how far down it goes, what it looks like under one of his hands.

“Guess you could say that.” He scratches the back of his neck before holding out his hand. “I'm Evan.”

“Tommy,” he replies, shaking his hand.

“Nice to meet you, Tommy.”

He likes the way he says his name—a little nasal on the first syllable, like he's from back east somewhere. Tommy wants to hear him whine it. 

“So what do you do, Evan?” he asks, picking up his beer and taking a drink. He doesn't miss the way Evan’s eyes track the motion.

“Right now? Bartending, a little bit of construction. Just trying to pay rent. LA is expensive,” he says with visible exasperation.

“Yeah, it's definitely that,” Tommy agrees. “Where were you before LA?”

Evan considers the question with a smile. “Right before or originally?”

Tommy leans his elbow on the bar, getting a little in Evan's space and smiling when he doesn't move away. “Both?”

His pretty pink bottom lip ends up between his teeth for a moment. “Well, I'm from Hershey, Pennsylvania originally—not where they invented chocolate—and then I was in Peru before this.”

Tommy tilts his head, giving a considering noise and trying not to be too charmed. “Sounds like there's a story there.”

Evan shrugs. “Yeah, but it's not really an interesting one. How long have you been a pilot?”

“Thirteen years. Army pilot before I was a firefighter,” Tommy says, trying not to invite questions by sounding casual about it. Unfortunately, Evan seems incredibly curious by nature. “So what brought you over here? My spot at the bar, I mean.”

The flush is back, making his face glow. “Well, I realized you were all firefighters—it’s mostly cops in here right now. And I saw you, and I thought, ‘Man, that guy's probably got an insane lifting routine.’ I've been trying to strength train, but I'm not starting with a lot.”

Tommy chuckles, remembering the days when he used to innocently ask guys about their workout routines. Usually before he blew them in a gym bathroom and walked away like nothing had ever happened. “It's pretty intense, yeah, but the job helps. Heavy equipment. Plus, we have a gym at the station, and I have a small gym set up at my house. But I don't think you have anything to worry about.”

Evan smiles, shy and sweet. “Yeah?”

He takes a calculated risk and reaches out to wrap his arm around Evan's bicep, squeezing carefully and feeling the way it flexes under his hand. “Yeah, feels like you're doing a great job.”

He doesn't miss the way Evan’s pupils dilate a little or the peek of tongue that darts out between his lips. Tommy feels like he's going to throw this kid against the bar and start grinding against him. He's breathing heavier, and so is Evan. 

“You wanna get out of here?” Tommy asks, and Evan nods with wide eyes.

Vintage Drarry Fics

Thought I'd put together a list of some of the old Drarry 'classics' of my teenage years, for anyone interested. All posted between 2001-2006, compiled using my (bad) memory, a lot of googling, fanlore.org and numerous different LJ rec accounts (including the incredible @capiturecs). I checked as best I could, but if anyone knows of any fics that their author doesn't want to be shared, please let me know and I will of course remove.

Please also note that these fics are of their era, when attitudes may have been different, and they may not all be grammatically perfect. I haven't reread all, as my own tastes have changed, but most importantly do note that they may not be tagged - don't blame me when, for example, Harry dies tragically on a rooftop at sunrise...
