in love with the idea of satoru who is usually a composed man, so in control — even when it comes to you. and he tells you he’s waiting for marriage which shocks practically anyone who has heard it from his lips. the gojo satoru? waiting until marriage to have intimacy? at first you think it’s a joke — a ruse. but… it is not. he holds true to his words. which means, unlike what you thought, he won’t kiss you breathless in public or push you against the nearest wall, hands roaming every inch of you, just to prove you’re his. and not because he doesn’t want to. god — believe him. he does. but because you mean that much. and it’s insane, really. he has never been the traditional type. he resents his clan — mocks their rules every chance he gets. but this? this is the one line he refuses to cross. not with you. and even when you try to tempt him — crawling into his lap, lips locked against his in a ravishing kiss, all hunger and lust — he just chuckles. it’s a low and breathless sound that escapes his throat as he gently pushes you away with a soft smile. though, the bulge in his pants tells another story — his restraint doesn’t falter. he won’t make you carry the weight of his want. he won’t burden you with it. even if it kills him inside. even though he knows that when the time comes — you’ll take it. and you’ll take it so well.

as someone who was doing academic/professional research and applying to graduate school last year and is doing professional research and applying to graduate school this year the difference in how inaccessible research has become in just TWELVE MONTHS is STARK and so deeply felt. I am lucky enough to have someone’s institutional IDs but it’s insane how I needed that to write the most basic lit reviews/application materials when I spent the last ~5 years in a broke third world public university with almost no institutional access and managed just fine. the destruction and hobbling of sci-hub, libgen, internet archive, and other open source resources is nothing less than mass epistemic violence against global south students and it’s only going to compound every year as the materials these platforms have access to become increasingly dated.

💗 7 years of supercorp fics 💗

It's been a little over 7 years since Lena came into Kara's life. This immediately prompted the first supercorp fic and has led to tens of thousands more. Despite the show ending two years ago, supercorp has had some massive staying power (look at that trendline!) and become the biggest F/F ship on AO3.

After Bellara's personal quest, she mentions she's reading Cyrian's "death letter", saying they're something Veil Jumpers keep since they're working in such a dangerous area surrounded by wild magic. Which makes me wonder if Rook Aldwir kept up the habit after leaving to travel with Varric... they're still in such dangerous circumstances I think they must have. Maybe told Bellara where in their room they kept it tucked away just in case. I wonder how long Bellara (if not chosen for the mirror) sat with that knowledge after Rook gets dragged into the Fade... after the first few days would she go read it herself? Would she leave it and just keep hoping that it wouldn't be relevant, that they'd get her back? Would she get it, and pass it along to Rook's LI (if other than herself)? fantastic angst potential there

Do me a favor and lend me your opinion? How do you feel about really self indulgent fics. Like. I don’t even really know how to go about making an example without selling myself out lol. Think like dabi x reader fic where he saves reader. Like it’s for /ME/. Part of me is like “well all fic is self indulgent” but also I can’t help but wonder about the whole thing. Like how far is too far into “it’s just for me” territory

Asking because you’re a reader insert writer I like and respect the opinion of.

all of my pieces of writing are self indulgent pieces. in fact, i would argue that all art in general is self indulgent to a particular extent—it’s self expression. whether you are expressing emotions, ideas, fantasies, fears, criticisms etc (the list goes on forever) doesn’t matter—at the end of the day you are expressing your unique and one-of-a-kind mind through creation. maybe it’s trauma focused, or maybe it’s comfort focused, or maybe it’s socio-culturally focused; no matter what, it is your unique expression.

first and foremost, i write for me. i share it online because i believe it might also help others the way creating it helps me (or help them in different ways!) and/or that it might bring them a sense of happiness, entertainment, comfort, catharsis, etc etc etc.. but i create art for me. i think every single artist, irregardless of medium, should be first and foremost creating for themselves.

if writing for yourself makes you happy, please do it. i beg you to create, because it will help you in so many different ways and i think it’s so healthy for us. and i can guarantee you that, should you choose to share your writing online, there will be AT LEAST one other person who enjoys your ‘this is just for me’ piece just as much as you do. i am a firm believer that every single person will take something different from a piece of art (a piece of writing, a painting, a song, a film, etc) because we are all unique, one-of-a-kind beings. so it doesn’t matter if you wrote it just for you; someone else will read it and see themselves in it, too. and they may interpret it in a way you yourself did not, but that is the very beauty of art—it has endless meanings. your meaning, as the author, is only one of infinite.

i know i’m getting a little wild here with my philosophies on art, but this is something i feel SO strongly about. please, please create for yourself.

I was going to have rye maaaybe start to buy into solas' whole johnny silverhand deal a little bit more in the post-weisshaupt talk -- to Progress the Arc tm/set up the beginning softening in that relationship and heighten the effect when it eventually goes. quite another way entirely -- but the sheer spectacular cruelty in hindsight of 'at least you still have varric to talk to' is such that considering where I'm intending to end up with this narratively, the stoic 'not here to make friends you fucker gimme your intel' option is simply irresistible. gotta have that echo rattling around rye's head forever when he decides that you know what? I have had enough of being nice, actually. I do want to go ape shit. someone hold my coat for me please I have some work to do and I don't want to stain it. guess for now the ol' watcher training & instincts are still kicking in enough for them to treat solas like a tricky spirit you should treat with respect and good intentions, but also shouldn't be out there offering little fingers to unless you have a whole arm lying around to spare haha

please tell me you understand these kinds of readings remove complexity and agency from both the male and female characters as well as the narrative as a whole. please tell me you don’t just want to flip the dynamic. please tell me you didn’t think it was originally bad only because it was the male character who should be demonized and the female character excused. please I am begging you to develop media literacy and to step away from radfem rethoric
