The Watcher's telescope view is a social commentary and here's why
Ok so let's set some things right first. City of Tears is amazing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Yes, Pale Court is also an amazing mod)
I've played Hollow Knight many times, and City of Tears is probably the one location I never get tired of. The scenery, the lore, the room layout, the music, the atmosphere - it's all perfect. It's the culmination of Halllownest's beauty, the peak of the game's art style, and the narrative's most essential location. City of Tears is the heart of Hollow Knight.
This game is a story about a Kingdom and its death, a tragedy of a society that was built on dreams of light but ultimately was consumed by the light so much that darkness became its only hope. And City of Tears stands at the center of this story. So it's fitting that the themes of corrupted dreams, society flaws, and dark hopes are what shape the lore and atmosphere of this beautiful, gorgeous location.
Did you ever notice that the tears of this Kingdom are dark despite them originating in a glowing blue lake, and the waters that flood the streets are almost as dark as the void in the Abyss? Do you ever think about how the vibrant blue color of the City is basically a culmination of how the color blue is presented in other locations (Howling Cliffs, Forgotten Crossroads, and later Royal Waterways being more of a remix of it), and how it's tied to the very essence of Hallownest (and how Resting Grounds, the location that contains Blue Lake and also uses a bright blue color, represent the very foundation of Hallownest's history, that being Seer's story about the Moth Tribe's betrayal that started the war between Pale King and the Radiance)? Do you feel like Soul Master basically represents the thunder and the lightning in this never-ending rain? Do you get it????
Anyway yeah, there are many things that can be said about City of Tears, and this is hopefully not the last time I make a post about it. What I want to talk about here is the City's society.
Basically, Monomon said it better than anyone could:
Tumblr media
It's a very complicated topic. The narrative basically explores the inner mechanisms of a free mind, how its primary need is finding a purpose, and how its purpose turns out to be a constant need of... something. Anything. As long as there is something to want, a free mind will want it. As long as there is something to yearn for, something to enjoy, something to dream about, our minds are going to move in its direction, never wanting to stop. Because a stasis is worse than death. Because a world without dreams is an empty world.
But then again, isn't constant yearning another instance of, well, constance? If dreams never end but also never evolve, doesn't that create another kind of stasis?
Like I said, it's very complicated. Let's go back to what I was getting at in the first place. What I actually wanted to say is this:
Tumblr media
Theese guys fucking fucked up as a society.
It's classic dystopian shit (or maybe I'm using the wrong word, but you get the point). Rich people are living in luxury while the rest are suffering. They're making gold a fucking religion and are seeing it as the only beauty in the world. The corrupt upper class are using heavy gatekeeping on the lower class.
Literally.
Tumblr media
What's interesting is that, at first, we barely see any lower class bugs in the City. There's suspiciously few regular husks in this location, compared to how many rich guys are on the eastern side. But then we get to Soul Sanctum and it all starts to make sense.
Tumblr media
There are no red cloaks in those corpse piles. Only the poor were killed for those experiments. It can't be a coincidence. It's straight-up elitism-based genocide (again, I don't know if I'm using the right terms, correct me if there's a better way to say that, but the point is clear).
Also, see how many streets are flooded on the western side in comparison to the eastern side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Point is, the bugs that ruined the kingdom by always wanting more (what Monomon wrote about) are most likely theese rich ones. It's a very fitting thing for this dystopian narrative: neverending greed that leads to the downfall of a civilization.
There's a note in the Hunter's Journal that describes it in the best way possible:
Tumblr media
For every location in the game, there is a place that functions as the center of its essence, its narrative heart, the culmination of its themes. For Queen's Gardens it's the White Lady's cocoon, for Greenpath it's the Lake of Unn, and for City of Tears (or at least its eastern part, the one with the upper class) it's the Watcher's Spire. The tallest building of the great capital. The home of (evidently) the most rich and influential bug of the City's high society. Literally the top of this social hierarchy.
He is also arguably the most mysterious dreamer out of all three. I mean, why does he have only one eye? What type of bug is he? How did he get this much power? Does he really have some kind of connection with the Collector? Is he a motherfucking fluke? Why does he seem to have an obsession with serving the King?
That last question is kinda answered by the cut content though.
Tumblr media
That last sentence is kinda confusing. Is it regret? Is it humility? Is it pride in his sacrifice? In any case, here we see that Lurien actually knew that the Pale King was literally a god, and desired to worship him, like any other bug yearns to worship some kind of deity. So while other bugs of Hallownest worshiped PK because he was a monarch, albeit a godlike one (for all they knew he could be just an extraordinary bug, but a bug nonetheless), Lurien worshiped him as an actual god. And the intricacies of worshiping a god are one of the central themes of the game. From the moth tribe's betrayal of Radiance leading to the birth of the Infection to the Godseeker's shenanigans leading to the birth of the Shade Lord - the game makes multiple statements about gods, religious devotion and the semantics of divine power. Just that one idea that a god takes its power from the ones that worship it deserves its own post - heck, it deserves its own book.
So yeah, Lurien's devotion to the King is an important part of the story. He sure is an important character in this narrative. He also got a cool house. Being able to observe the entirety of the Hallownest's capital is badass.
But there's one thing I find odd about all that, and it's the moment we get to actually look through his legendary telescope.
Tumblr media
Is it just me, or does this feel kinda... Underwhelming? Almost disappointing? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love this view, it's beautiful, and I would certainly love to be able to see something like this with my own eyes irl, but, looking at this picture, I can't help but wonder...
Did he actually see anything from up there?
In cut dialogue, Lurien talks about how he loves the City's streets, and his hidden lore tablet contains words about his love for bugkind, but... I see neither any streets on this image, nor any bugs (that are not vengeflies). Only spiked rooftops and rainy fog, clouding the view of the actual City.
And sure, the Spire has many windows and even had multiple watchers who were helping Lurien with overseeing the capital...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But his own spot was always this one.
Tumblr media
His telescope was sealed in one place, letting him see only a small portion of the City and its life. Almost like his own worldview was stuck in one perspective.
Tumblr media
Notice the wording here. It's not "The Seals must remain". It's "Bonds must remain". He's not thinking just about the Seals containing the Infection. He's thinking about the whole Kingdom needing to stay unchanged. His dream is the stasis that the Knight (and also Monomon, Hornet and, in a sense, even Radiance) want to end. The stasis that the Pale King wanted to create in order for his Kingdom (and therefore himself) to be eternal. The stasis that would allow for both Pale King and Lurien's worship of him to remain forever.
But there is always a cost to ascending higher than others, and it's that you can no longer see what's going on below or who's suffering down there. I think Lurien, sitting atop the tallest tower, was actually detached from the struggles of regular bugs. He and his Spire are the culmination of the City's upper class' ignorance towards the ones who were below them on the social hierarchy. A dreamer who dreamt of watching over the very heart of the holy civilization lived so high up he could no longer see his beloved world in its complicated, detailed entirety – and the tears of the stasis created by those like him only blinded him more.
All those flooded streets, those broken buildings, those empty halls, those starving bugs, those sealed doors - even though he watched over them, he couldn't see them.
I'm pretty sure Lurien didn't even know about the Soul Master's experiments, despite the fact that the Soul Sanctum was located right next to his Spire.
Tumblr media
Or maybe he knew but chose to turn a blind eye to it (pun intended).
But it's kind of poetic, isn't it? It's the beauty of the tragedy of this game's characters. A Beast who had to surrender everything to the opposing civilization. A Teacher who could no longer teach. A Watcher who couldn't see the truth.
And all that makes me wonder... How much suffering could the Pale King see, standing on that platform at the top of the Abyss, facing away from the pit where his children died?
Tumblr media
TL;DR: Lurien's point of view was too high up to actually see what was truly going on down there, both literally and metaphorically. His desire to worship the Pale King made him ignorant of the struggles of regular bugs. Similarly, the extreme elitism of the high society of Hallownest lead to ignorance, discrimination and greed, which ultimately caused the sprawl of the Infection. This side of Lurien's story might also parallel the Pale King's with his ignorance towards the discarded vessels.
TL;DR²: Eat the rich

Can you recommend me some good fics where Barry Allen gets kidnapped :) since in one of your tags you said you read a lot of them lol
I read them, I write them, I live and breathe them. Absolutely anon, allow me to dive into my bookmarks.
Just a reminder, always be sure to check the tags and warnings to know what you're getting into. Stay safe out there folks!
Juncture by @pennflinn may be my favorite fic of all time. Technically he gets kidnapped before the story's events but that's because it's an alternate ending to Escape from Earth-2 (and he is held captive for pretty much the entire fic so). The whump is SUPREME and the overall story is so well written. I will always recommend this fic.
One Second by pennflinn. Another one by penn because she is an incredible writer and HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS FIC!! It takes my favorite premise for a fic "What if Barry was kidnapped in this scene/episode when he wasn't in canon!" and brings it to a WHOLE nother level. This one is diverges from 1x14 "Fallout" where, instead of everyone getting away semi-safely, Eiling kidnaps Barry and whump ensures. BUT there's another twist to this fic that (in my opinion) makes it stand out from many others-- every once in a while, there's a glimpse of a parallel universe where the events were different and let's just say some of those universes h u r t. Also, I wanted to kill Eiling so bad after reading this that I wrote a ficlet with the sole purpose of murdering him :) Anyways, go read; it's amazing.
Miles Through The Night by @hedgiwithapen. First off, this is an everyone whump fic, Barry is not the only one who is kidnapped but 1. IT HURTS GODS IT HURTS SO BAD I'M DYING. 2. The writing is spectacular, all the characters are super well done, and the story is INTENSE I'M STILL DYING SORRY I'LL STOP NOW. In this one-- actually nvm, the actual summary will do it justice. "With Eobard Thawne dead, life in Central City can go back to normalish. But Barry’s greatest enemy is not a speedster from the future fixated on him, and Eobard’s threat may have been the only thing keeping Team Flash safe from someone who doesn’t consider any meta to be human." THAT'S RIGHT-- AN EILING FIC! Just. Go read it, it's so good and I'm dying.
Lightning Bug by Hedgi. The writing in this was SUPERB and Eiling is a fucking bastard as always (count your days general.). And this time we have another speedster in the mix-- a toddler Wally! Ngl, I just reread this while getting the link and it was SO GOOD-- and once again my words can't seem to do it justice so I'll leave you with the summary "Months after the defeat of Zoom, Barry's main concern (aside from the odd metahuman attack) is helping Joe and Iris raise the four and a half year old Speedster Wally West, Cisco-named "Lightning Bug." And while that's hard, it's nice to have this speedster as family, not an enemy. Things are pretty easy.
Unfortunately, that doesn't last. After all, General Eiling's deal was only good for as long as their mutual enemies were still a threat." Eiling needs to die in a ditch as you can see, but there's some really sweet whump in this and it's because of him soooooo-- anyways, go read; it was fantastic.
Can’t Take That Away From Me by SophiaCatherine (or @sophiainspace on here). DUDE. DUDE DUDE DUDE-- I LOVE THIS FIC. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS FIC. EVen once the whump passes, the A N G S T is so delicious! From the beginning of the first chapter alone; you'll see the sweet whump AND angst this fic has in store. Oh, and it's Coldflash which I somehow forgot to mention even though that's a foundation of the entire fic lmao. I love it, go read. Also, there is a sequel but it's not Barry being whumped this time... double also; there's a prequel and it's really sweet (no whump in that one fyi)
I Never Told Him by messedupstargazer. I am SCREAMING. THIS. FIC. Fyi, it's Coldflash. SO MUCH ANGST THE WHUMP-- IT'S SO GOOD I HAVE NO WORDS. DYING DYING DYING I AM DEAD I HAVE PERISHED.
Looking through all of these at once has filled me with many emotions and I apologize if some parts were incoherent. I'm probably missing a few and may add more as I find them but for now I'll finish with these two I wrote.
12 hours Barry's kidnapped before the events of the story but I think it still counts. He's trapped in Zoom's lair and forced to run for twelve hours every day :)
Trophy this is my beloved and the entire fic is a Barry whump fest (and angst. a lot of angst.). (or will be, There's one chapter posted atm) Technically we haven't seen the kidnapping yet but in the first scene he is in a cell so. Premise is that Zoom wins in the season 2 finale and everything goes to hell from there. I do feel obligated to warn though that there's not a happy ending for this one.
Thanks for asking! I'm always eager to share Barry whump! :D

Domestic December Day 8 - Comfort During a Storm
Aurora and Phantom experience their first thunderstorm topside.
Prompt list by comp-lady. See prompt list here
Thunderstorms and cuddle piles below the cut or on AO3
A storm has been brewing all day. Aurora, being partly air, can sense the tension in the atmosphere. It’s like an itch just under her skin. Something is on the way. Now dark clouds and fierce winds foretell the storm’s arrival and it looks like it's going to be a big one.
So far in her brief time topside, Aurora has only experienced rain a couple times. The other ghoulettes took her outside with them the first time it rained after her summoning. At first she watched suspiciously from underneath an awning as the ghoulettes ran about in the sprinkle. It was just a light gentle rain, softly dampening the earth with a fine mist. Mist herself even joined the girls that day, briefly dropping her stoic demeanor and smiling openly as she let the rain wash over her skin.
Slowly but surely, they coaxed her out from under the cover. She had squealed a little when the first cool drops hit her face. Quickly though, she began to dance and twirl around, her air and water elements having a field day with all the energy in the air. After that she began to be the first to run outside whenever light drops began to smatter the windows.
Now though, she sits by a window and pouts. The other had held her back as she prepared to race outside. They said that a thunderstorm was on the horizon and that it was dangerous. When she asked why, they tried to explain lightning and thunder to her, but she didn’t really understand. Still, she heeded their warnings and resolved to just watch the rain from here. Until the first arc of lightning flashed across the sky.
She marveled, eyes huge, as the sudden flash sliced the sky in half. She could almost feel the electricity in the air. She pressed closer to the window, watching for another, when instead she was greeted by a cacophonous boom of thunder. The window rattled with it and the wind picked up even more.
Aurora recoiled in shock, her poor sensitive ears unprepared for the noise. She shrunk back from the window in apprehension, barely having time to recover when a second flash lit the sky. This time, when the foundation shaking thunder sounded, she decided she’d had enough and bravely ran to hide. She scurried down the hall and nearly ran into Phantom.
“Hey Ant. You okay?” He had a worried expression on his face and he kept looking behind him. Another crash of thunder gave her her answer as they both jumped and the quintessence ghoul yelped in fright.
“It’s scary.” He mumbled embarrassedly.
“Yeah. I’m scared too.” She admitted. “What should we do?”
“Maybe go find the others?”
“Okay do you know where-” Aurora is cut off by another boom of thunder, managing to be the loudest yet. “On second thought…”
“Yeah, let's stay here.”
The two of them huddle right there in the hall; wrapped into a tight ball of ghoul on the floor under a side table. That’s how Mountain finds them, curled up so snug it's unclear where one ends and the other starts, and flinching as one every time the thunder sounds.
“There you two are.” Mountain sighs in relief. “We’ve been looking for you everywhere. C’mon. We’ll head to my room and get you two settled. It’s going to be alright.”
Nervously, Aurora and Phantom disentangle themselves and follow the gentle giant to his room. He has the lights dimmed, lit by lamps and the fire. The blinds are closed and the window blocked with a thick quilt to block the light and muffle some of the sound. His bed is a nest of blankets and furs. Mountain flops on the bed first and allows the two smaller ghouls to curl on either side. He sends a quick text to the group chat before wrapping his arms around both of them and cooing softly.
Mountain: I found Bug and Rory. Got them in my room.
Cumulus: Oh thank Satan. I’m on the way.
Swiss: I’ll bring Bug’s headphones. Does Rory want ear plugs?
Cumulus: I’ll bring some just in case.
Cumulus and Swiss arrive quickly, Phantom’s noise canceling headphones and ear plugs in tow. Phantom makes grabby hands for his headphones and visibly relaxes once they cover his ears. Cumulus holds the ear plugs out to Aurora.
“Hey sweetheart. Want ear plugs? They’ll help with the noise.” She points to her own set in emphasis.
Aurora nods and accepts them. “Thank you.” She instantly feels a little better, the soft foam blocking the worst of the noise.
Cumulus and Swiss curl up on Aurora and Phantom’s other sides; Mountain’s bed fortunately being big enough to allow five ghouls to fit at once. They begin to soothe their respective ghouls and soon enough everyone is purring up a storm of their own. Even when the worst of the storm blows through, the thunder gone and leaving only the pelting rain, the ghouls stay there curled up. Only once Phantom and Aurora feel sure that the thunder poses no further threat do they both remove their hearing protection and relax fully.
“Sorry about all that.” Cumulus murmurs. “We meant to find you sooner but the storm came quicker than we thought.”
“Yeah,” Swiss nods. “We got caught halfway across the ministry and then couldn’t find you.”
“It'ssokay.” Phantom mumbles sleepily, snuggling closer into Mountain and Swiss.
“Yeah. I’m okay now.” Aurora agrees, only slightly more lucid.
“Looks like it’s nap time now.” Swiss grins. Mountain is already snoring, able to sleep through a hurricane if he wanted. The other four settle back down and join him in sleep.

June
The June bug on the screen door whirs like a small, ugly machine, and a chorus of frogs and crickets drones like Musak at all the windows. What we don't quite see comforts us. Blink of lightning, grumble of thunder - just the heat clearing its throat.

Link relaxed back against Fish as they both lay in the grass on top of the small mountain at the back of his home in Hateno. His horse had decided she was going to sleep after their return home from the archery camp and who was Link to deny her?
It’s been roughly two months since Link and Zelda finally defeated Ganon and Link’s home in Hateno became more lively as Zelda brought back anything she could find to study. Frogs, Lightning bugs, and all manner of plants had found their way into every inch of the house and Link wouldn’t have it any other way. It’d taken some talking- and Zelda’s stubbornness- before Link was able to bring all of his horses to Hateno and house them in one of the fields not far from his home.
Zelda has been helping Link learn more about how Hyrule used to be and the moment she mentioned ranches Link knew what he wanted to do. It’s taking a lot of work and Bolson is over often to help with the planning but soon, Link will have his own little ranch.
(He didn’t tell her but, during his journey, Link had happened upon the remnants of what seemed like a small settlement. A crumbling tower, large fenced-in areas, and the foundations of what seemed like a house that a Guardian had made its home in. He’d walked up to the broken sign once the Guardian was dealt with and was almost knocked from his feet by the force of his memory.
He’d glimpsed bright red hair, a warm laugh that made his eyes water, small hands gripping his, and a gentle hand threading through his hair. His mama was letting them meet one of the foals, the baby nosed at her curiously and his little sister cooed at the foal when it turned to them. He’d held out a hand for the foal to inspect but it only snuffed his hand before trotting off back further into the pasture towards its own mother.)
Link was brought back from his reminiscing by Fish lipping at his hair. He huffed and gently petted her nose and drew an apple from the saddlebags beside him when she kept nudging his hand. With Fish settled, both of them went back to relaxing in the sun and breeze, the quiet sounds of crickets and dragonflies making a calming song that was perfect to nap to.

Its gotten so much worse lately and it kills me but I remember first noticing it when I moved into my grandmas old house in middle school (so like 10 yrs ago)
When we visited her before she moved out, there was this light on the side of the house. At night there would be like 20 different moths on there! It was my favorite thing. One of every size and color. It was amazing. Then after we moved in, the light was still there, same place, but less moths. And the ones that were there were your typical grey and white ones. Don't get me wrong, I still love those, but it was such a stark and disappointing difference. Because I was so excited to get to see that daily. Aldo BTW we were in the middle of the woods on a dead end road in part of the Appalachias. So its not like we were in town or cities where there's less nature.
She also had gardens and everything. We didn't keep up with them as well as she did but they were maintained well. The butterfly garden got lots of butterflies still and we had to put in some work to eventually get the hummingbirds to come back. I also remember (and I know this ain't bugs) we would always find salamanders running around on the porch and the yard. By the time we moved it, you rarely ever saw one.
Anyway this was 10 years ago. I miss when I was little and could spot a ton of different bugs every day. I get especially weepy about the lack of fireflies (or lightning bugs) but that's bc they're special to me.
The lack of bugs is never good. Those are like, a big part of the foundation of our ecosystem I think. We need them. No matter how annoying or gross they can be.
I think one of the absolute most frustrating things for me personally about the current climate crisis / late stage capitalism hell is that ontop of people just outright denying it and acting like the rising temperatures are normal- there’s been like. A VERY noticeable decline in the amount of insects yearly. As someone who goes out of my way to see bugs, every single year for the past decade there has been a sharp decline in bugs. What used to be fun filled summer months running around, catching grasshoppers and petting caterpillars… there’s nothing. I’ve seen one grasshopper this year. I’ve not seen a single caterpillar! It’s currently the ant nuptial flight season in my area and I’ve seen 0 winged ants. They used to all but infest my home during flight season
I remember as a kid, I used to excitedly find ladybug larvae, and I’d relocate them to plants covered in aphids. But I’ve seen one ladybug in the past 5 years, and 0 larvae. I’ve not even seen any aphids. It’s so tangible, it’s so noticeable to me as someone who considered this my absolute favourite season to do my favourite activity in. And I know if the bugs are dying off, other things that eat those bugs are to.
And the absolute worst part? When I tell people about this, the average reaction is ‘good!’. A lot of people will express joy over there being less bugs in the world. Most will express how they’re glad they’ve been experiencing less mosquitos and I want to just grab by the shoulders and shake them and yell TONS OF BUGS JUST DISAPPEARING SHARPLY OVER THE YEARS IS NOT A GOOD THING !!
Anyways. Fellow entomology nerds, have any of you also noticed a drastic decrease in bugs you’re finding yearly or is my area just in a bug deficit.

Can a Manual Tester Become a Salesforce Developer? Absolutely. Here's How.
Ever found yourself knee-deep in manual testing and wondering, "What if I could build the stuff I'm testing?" Well, good news: you totally can. Transitioning from manual testing to becoming a Salesforce Developer is not just possible—it might be one of the smartest career moves you can make. Especially if you're already exploring tools like Provar, a Salesforce automation tool that bridges the gap between testers and developers.
In this post, we’ll break down how you can shift gears from manual testing to Salesforce development, the skills you'll need, and how tools like Provar can help along the way.
Why Consider the Switch?
Manual testing is a great entry point into the tech world. You've got the analytical mindset, the attention to detail, and the experience working with systems. But let’s be real: it can feel repetitive, and there's often a ceiling in terms of growth.
Salesforce Development, on the other hand, opens the door to:
Higher salaries and better job stability
Creative problem-solving using Apex (Salesforce's programming language)
More influence in the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle)
Remote-friendly work opportunities
So if you’re already familiar with how Salesforce apps should behave, you're halfway there.
What Do Salesforce Developers Actually Do?
Salesforce Developers create custom functionality on the Salesforce platform using tools like Apex (similar to Java), Visualforce (for UI), and Lightning Components (modern UI framework). They build things like:
Custom apps and workflows
Automated business processes
Integrations with other systems (like Slack, Gmail, etc.)
This means turning business needs into working features—something manual testers are already good at analyzing.
Skills You Already Have (and How They Translate)
If you’re coming from a manual testing background, you already have some golden skills that will make your move into Salesforce development a whole lot easier.
Understanding of Test Cases: You know how to think through different scenarios and outcomes. This will help you write smarter, more accurate logic and validations when you start coding.
System Thinking: As a tester, you’re already used to seeing the bigger picture and how parts of a system interact. This skill is crucial for designing scalable, efficient solutions as a developer.
Bug Reporting: You’ve spent a lot of time identifying and documenting bugs. That attention to detail translates directly into writing cleaner, error-free code.
Familiarity with Salesforce UI: If you've tested Salesforce apps before, you already have a head start! Knowing your way around the Salesforce interface gives you a solid foundation for building apps, especially when working with Lightning components.
Skills You Need to Pick Up
Don’t worry—you don’t need a Computer Science degree to become a Salesforce Developer. Here's what you'll want to learn:
Apex: Salesforce's proprietary Java-like language
SOQL: Salesforce Object Query Language for database operations
Lightning Web Components: For building responsive UIs
Salesforce Admin Skills: Understand objects, fields, workflows, etc.
Pro tip: Use Provar to bridge the knowledge gap. Since Provar automates testing within Salesforce, it helps manual testers learn about object relationships, workflows, and backend logic organically. It’s like learning to swim while already floating.
Suggested Learning Path
Let’s break it down step-by-step:
Get Certified as a Salesforce Administrator
Understand the basics: objects, fields, workflows, validation rules
Tools: Trailhead (Salesforce’s free learning hub)
Start Learning Apex and SOQL
Use Trailhead modules or YouTube tutorials
Play around in a free Salesforce Developer Org
Build Mini Projects
Try creating a custom app or automating a simple process
Document what you build—this is gold for your portfolio
Work with Provar or Similar Tools
Provar helps you understand how automation integrates with development

Real Talk: Common Roadblocks (and How to Overcome Them)
"I don’t have a coding background."
That’s okay! Apex is beginner-friendly and well-documented. Start slow and build consistently.
"I’m afraid of making the leap."
Think of this as a skill expansion, not a total restart. You can even start by becoming a Salesforce Test Automation Engineer using Provar, and grow from there.
"Will employers take me seriously?"
Absolutely, especially if you have a strong testing background. Add some Trailhead badges and a few project demos, and you're in the game.
Why Provar Can Be Your Secret Weapon?
Provar is not just for testers. It’s also a great way to:
Understand how test automation works under the hood
Get exposure to Salesforce objects, workflows, and APIs
Bridge the tester-to-developer knowledge gap
As someone already familiar with Salesforce Testing, you can use Provar to:
Write functional test scripts and see how they map to backend logic
Experiment with edge cases and error handling (just like developers do)
Collaborate more effectively with dev teams
So yeah, Provar isn’t just a tool—it’s your training ground.
Career Growth Opportunities
Once you transition to Salesforce Development, you can branch out into:
Salesforce Architect
Technical Consultant
Product Manager (with technical chops!)
Lead Developer or Team Lead
And since Salesforce is huge across industries, you'll find opportunities in finance, healthcare, education, and tech.
Final Thoughts: Start Where You Are
Switching from manual testing to Salesforce Development isn’t just a dream—it’s a plan. With the right mindset, consistent learning, and the help of tools like Provar, you're already on your way. Don’t wait to be "ready." Start exploring, tinkering, and learning today.
Remember, your background in Salesforce Testing already gives you a leg up. All that’s left is to write some code, build something cool, and show the world what you can do.
Thinking about where to begin? Fire up Trailhead, launch a dev org, and automate your first test in Provar. You're not just testing anymore—you're building the future of Salesforce.
Ready to make the jump? We at Provar are cheering you on.

Rust Compiler Performance Triage
We saw improvements to a large swath of benchmarks with the querification of MonoItem collection (PR #132566). There were also some PRs where we are willing to pay a compile-time cost for expected runtime benefit (PR #132870, PR #120370), or pay a small cost in the single-threaded case in exchange for a big parallel compilation win (PR #124780).
Triage done by @pnkfelix. Revision range: d4822c2d..7d40450b
2 Regressions, 4 Improvements, 10 Mixed; 6 of them in rollups 47 artifact comparisons made in total

Quote of the Week
The whole point of Rust is that before there were two worlds:
Inefficient, garbage collected, reliable languages
Efficient, manually allocated, dangerous languages
And the mark of being a good developer in the first was mitigating the inefficiency well, and for the second it was it didn't crash, corrupt memory, or be riddled with security issues. Rust makes the trade-off instead that being good means understanding how to avoid the compiler yelling at you.

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐚𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐬 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠
𝐍𝐒𝐅𝐖: 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
It wasn’t often the two of you found yourselves tangled underneath the sheets in a mess of limbs, the mattress softly creaking amidst a series of stifled grunts and breathy moans. While Alastor’s sex drive was practically nonexistent, that didn’t mean he didn’t like indulging you, his wife, every now and then. It simply became a difficult task when you expanded your family and welcomed a precious little girl four years ago.
Tonight, however, he had his hips pressed firmly against yours, his cock gliding in and out of your slick cunt in slow, deep thrusts, mindful of your sleeping daughter despite the rain pelting down on the wooden shingles of your home and drowning out your passionate affair. But she always kept her door slightly ajar, the nightlight in her room illuminating the hallway.
“Hush now, darling, or else you’ll wake our little doe from her slumber,” Alastor’s words caressed the crook of your neck, the sensation of his hot breath making your walls clench around him in a warm, wet, tight embrace, and oh did that make him pick up the pace.
“I’m trying, Al—I’m trying,” You arched up into him with a whine, his pelvis rubbing up against your clit with every kiss the head of his cock gave to your cervix, his grip on your waist tightening, “It’s just been so long since you’ve—mm, fuck!—taken me like this.”
You clutched at Alastor’s back, one hand leisurely traveling down his sweat-stricken spine, the other threading into his hair and tilting his head back so your supple lips could litter the expanse of his throat with sloppy kisses. It was all too much for him, his brows knitting together and his mouth falling open with a rare moan that almost got lost with the thunderstorm raging outside.
Boom, Crack!
That was a lightning strike, the wooden foundation of your home shaking with a force that the two of you knew would have your daughter up and running to your room for comfort. And as if on cue, a gentle series of knocks sounded at your door, a disappointed ‘Fuck,’ seeping past Alastor’s lips as he hastily pulled his cock out of you and scrambled for his clothes in the darkness.
“Mommy? Daddy? I’m scared,” You heard her little voice penetrate the wood, her words laced with fear. The doorknob tentatively twisted, but she knew better than to let herself in without your permission. “Can I come in and sleep with you?”
Fortunately, you still had your nightgown on, so all you had to do was pull up your underwear and fix your tousled hair as you made your way towards the door, giving Alastor enough time to make himself presentable. But you didn’t want your daughter to sleep in the same bed you had just soiled with your sweat and your bodily fluids, motioning for him to follow you with your hand.
“How about we go sleep in your room, hm?” You suggested as you opened the door, knowing damn well that the three of you would hardly fit in her twin-sized bed, but she beamed at the idea anyway. “Come on, baby, let’s go.”
What a terrible idea, Alastor thought, but he couldn’t help but chuckle as the pitter-pattering of your daughter’s tiny feet echoed throughout the hallway, a squeal following right after she crawled underneath her floral-patterned sheets. ‘Sleepover!’ She exclaimed, but then the excited expression on her face quickly contorted into one of fear at the sound of another lightning strike.
“Now, now, no need to be afraid, my little doe,” Alastor whispered, plopping down on the edge of the bed. “Your mother and I are here for you,” He tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, shooting her a comforting smile.
“Yes, now…” You started, “…move aside and make some space for me!” She giggled, shuffling back to the corner where her bed met the wall. You situated yourself in the middle, leaving your poor husband on the edge.
“Ah, yes, I’m feeling snug as a bug in a rug between you two,” Your silly commentary soothed your daughter’s phobia of the thunderstorm raging outside, eliciting a chuckle from Alastor as he settled himself behind you.
And while he found himself aching for you with your ass plastered right against his crotch, your nightgown riding up and revealing the tantalizing sight of your lacey underwear, he accepted that your rare session of lovemaking had been postponed. He removed his glasses and put them on your daughter’s nightstand, allowing both of your soft snores to lull him to sleep with his slender legs dangling off the edge of the bed.

React and NodeJS: A Deadly Combination for Web Application Development
Tumblr media
Introduction:
In the dynamic world of web development, the combination of React and Node.js has emerged as a formidable duo, revolutionizing the way developers approach building web applications. By leveraging the strengths of these two technologies, developers can create robust, scalable, and efficient web solutions that cater to the ever-evolving needs of modern users. In this blog, we’ll explore why pairing React and Node.js is a deadly combination for web application development.
1. Full-Stack JavaScript Ecosystem:
React and Node.js are both built on JavaScript, the most widely used programming language for web development. This shared foundation allows developers to work within a unified, full-stack JavaScript ecosystem, enabling them to utilize the same language and skillset for both the front-end and back-end components of a web application. This seamless integration streamlines the development process, enhances productivity, and reduces the learning curve for developers.
2. Efficient and Scalable Server-Side Rendering:
Node.js, with its event-driven, non-blocking I/O model, provides an efficient and scalable server-side environment for web applications. When combined with React’s server-side rendering capabilities, developers can deliver lightning-fast initial page loads and improve the overall user experience. This approach also enhances search engine optimization (SEO) by ensuring that search engine crawlers can easily index and understand the content of the web application.
3. Reusable Components and Shared Logic:
React’s component-based architecture allows developers to create reusable UI components that can be shared between the front-end and back-end of a web application. By leveraging the same components and shared logic on both the client and server-side, developers can reduce code duplication, improve maintainability, and ensure consistency across the entire application.
4. Efficient Data Handling and Real-Time Interactions:
Node.js’s asynchronous nature and event-driven architecture make it well-suited for handling large amounts of data and enabling real-time interactions within web applications. When combined with React’s efficient state management and virtual DOM, developers can create web applications that seamlessly handle data-intensive operations, provide real-time updates, and deliver a responsive and engaging user experience.
5. Robust Ecosystem and Community Support:
Both React and Node.js benefit from thriving ecosystems with a vast array of libraries, tools, and resources available to developers. From state management solutions like Redux to web application frameworks like Express.js, the combined ecosystem of React and Node.js offers a wealth of options to enhance the functionality and capabilities of web applications. Additionally, the strong community support around these technologies ensures timely updates, bug fixes, and a wealth of knowledge-sharing opportunities.
Conclusion:
The combination of React and Node.js is a powerful duo that has transformed the landscape of web application development. By leveraging the strengths of these two technologies, developers can create efficient, scalable, and feature-rich web applications that cater to the evolving needs of modern users. The full-stack JavaScript ecosystem, efficient server-side rendering, reusable components, real-time interactions, and robust community support make React and Node.js an unbeatable combination for web application development.
Embrace the power of this dynamic duo and unlock the full potential of your web development projects. By harnessing the synergy between React and Node.js, you can build web applications that captivate users, drive business growth, and stay ahead of the competition in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

If Bitcoin Is a Bubble, Why Hasn't It Popped?
Tumblr media
They've been calling Bitcoin a bubble since it was $1. Through bull runs and bear markets, crashes and recoveries, the "bubble" narrative has persisted. Yet here we are, over a decade later, and Bitcoin isn't just surviving—it's thriving. So, what's going on? If Bitcoin is truly a bubble, why hasn't it popped?
To answer this question, we need to understand what actually constitutes a financial bubble, and why Bitcoin's behavior over the past 15 years tells a very different story.
What Makes a Real Financial Bubble?
Traditional financial bubbles follow a predictable pattern: rapid price inflation driven by speculation, followed by a catastrophic collapse when reality catches up with expectations. Think of the Dutch Tulip Mania of the 1630s, where single tulip bulbs sold for more than houses, only to become worthless virtually overnight. Or consider the Dot-Com Bubble of the late 1990s, when companies with ".com" in their name could see their stock prices soar without any viable business model.
These classic bubbles share several key characteristics:
A short, intense period of price appreciation
Widespread speculation disconnected from fundamental value
A sudden, terminal crash that ends the mania
No meaningful recovery after the collapse
Why Bitcoin Breaks the Bubble Mold
1. Unprecedented Longevity
If Bitcoin were truly a bubble, it would have followed the same pattern as tulips, Beanie Babies, or countless other manias—a quick rise followed by a permanent collapse. Instead, Bitcoin has demonstrated remarkable resilience over its 15-year history. While it has experienced multiple significant corrections, each "pop" has been followed by new heights, demonstrating a clear long-term upward trajectory.
2. The Power of Decentralization
Unlike traditional bubbles, which are often centered around a single company, product, or market, Bitcoin is a decentralized network owned and operated by no single entity. Its value proposition stems from its network effect—the same principle that makes the internet valuable. As more people join the network, its utility and value increase organically, following an S-curve adoption pattern rather than a bubble's sharp rise and fall.
3. Scarcity as a Feature, Not a Bug
Traditional bubbles often involve assets that can be created or replicated indefinitely. During the Tulip Mania, farmers could simply grow more tulips. During the housing bubble, developers could build more houses. Bitcoin, however, has a fixed supply cap of 21 million coins, written into its very code. This programmatic scarcity isn't a marketing gimmick—it's a fundamental property that becomes more relevant as fiat currencies face unprecedented inflation.
4. Smart Money Gets Smarter
Perhaps the most compelling argument against the bubble narrative is the increasing institutional adoption of Bitcoin. When companies like MicroStrategy and Tesla add billions in Bitcoin to their treasuries, when BlackRock launches a Bitcoin ETF, and when nations like El Salvador adopt Bitcoin as legal tender, we're clearly dealing with something more substantial than a speculative mania. These sophisticated players aren't known for investing in tulip bulbs.
5. Evolution, Not Extinction
Unlike historical bubbles, which typically freeze in time once they pop, Bitcoin continues to evolve technically. The development of Layer 2 solutions like the Lightning Network, ongoing security improvements, and growing developer activity all point to a technology that's maturing rather than dying. This continuous innovation strengthens Bitcoin's foundation and expands its utility.
Understanding Bitcoin's Volatility
Critics often point to Bitcoin's price volatility as evidence of its bubble status. However, volatility itself doesn't indicate a bubble—Amazon's stock price was notoriously volatile in its early years, yet few would call Amazon a bubble today. Bitcoin's volatility stems from its youth as an asset class, its growing liquidity, and its position at the frontier of technological and financial innovation.
Why Does the Bubble Narrative Persist?
The persistence of Bitcoin bubble theories says more about human psychology and institutional resistance than about Bitcoin itself. Traditional financial institutions, threatened by Bitcoin's potential to disrupt their business models, find it easier to dismiss it as a speculative mania. Media outlets, driven by clicks and controversy, repeatedly predict Bitcoin's demise because fear sells better than understanding.
Moreover, people who've missed out on Bitcoin's rise often cling to the bubble narrative as a form of psychological self-defense. It's more comforting to believe you've avoided a scam than to admit you've missed an opportunity.
The Revolution Will Not Be Centralized
As we look to the future, the question isn't whether Bitcoin is a bubble—it's whether we're witnessing the early stages of a fundamental transformation in how humanity thinks about and uses money. Bitcoin's persistence, growth, and evolution suggest we're dealing with something far more significant than a speculative mania.
Every transformative technology faces skepticism and ridicule before it reaches widespread acceptance. The internet was dismissed as a fad, email was considered a toy, and social networks were seen as a passing trend. Bitcoin follows this pattern of disruptive innovation, challenging our preconceptions about money and value in the digital age.
So the next time someone calls Bitcoin a bubble, ask them this: If it's really just a bubble, why does it keep coming back stronger? The answer might just change how they think about the future of money.
