it's time for me to sink my teeth into our first brotherly bonding session of season two (in episode one no less!)

firstly, it's equal parts heart warming and breaking to know that whilst jeff has opened himself up to alan and their relationship, the first person he goes to with problems is still charlie. after everything they've been through and the connections they've made, jeff still heralds his brother as his home base. (and yes, i have a lot of thoughts and feelings about jeff not wanting to tell alan about everything, but we're parking that to focus on my favourite adoptive/traumatised brothers).

from the get-go it's clear that jeff and charlie have both come a long way since last season. charlie has established himself in his post-s1 life so comfortably that he doesn't even think to be worried. he's vocal about his desire to stay with babe and be there for him, but aware enough that he doesn't shoot jeff down completely. jeff is far more confident too. last season when discussing their powers and plans, he was all-too willing to let charlie's word be final, to go along with his brother's plans. he also would have taken a step back when charlie didn't immediately latch onto the conversation - he would have agreed to drop it and continued to deal with the issue on his own. here, he's able to assert himself and get charlie's attention.

that doesn't mean jeff isn't anxious though, because he is. it's coming off him in waves. he makes a show of ensuring no one can overhear them, and it's enough to raise alarm bells for charlie. at first it's a little annoyance, wanting to move back to babe as fast as possible, but when he really sees jeff's hesitance, his protective nature starts to kick in. he still wants to be the person jeff comes to.

jeff doesn't beat around the bush - he knows something's up and he's scared. charlie wants to take it in stride; he's a little taken aback at first, but tries to minimise the damage. he doesn't want to undermine jeff, but he's hesitant to jump to conclusions. life's only just got back on track for them all and although he knows that jeff wouldn't come to him if it wasn't important, part of him just wants to believe that his brother is catastrophising.

jeff makes it clear that no, he's not leaping to the worst-case scenario. he's waited it out, he's thought about it, and he's come to the conclusion that something is really wrong and he needs to tell charlie about it. he's always been uncomfortable talking about himself, and he's never been one to mince his words, and he needs his brother to understand that this is serious. charlie is leading the charge in weird power world, and if anyone can help jeff, it's him. and you can see the moment that it sinks in for charlie, that his little brother is in trouble. he's not panicking, or overstepping, but there's a tension to him that we haven't seen all episode.

charlie wants to help, and, as usual, wants to put people at ease. so he focuses on what he knows. there is help coming to the lab, they're making progress with the drug, and he wants to comfort jeff in this knowledge.

but jeff has another bomb to drop, because it's not just that the drug isn't working and that things are changing. it's the uncertainty of it all. he's always had full confidence in his powers, always known them to be brutal, reliable and inescapable. but what he's been seeing and experiencing, doesn't add up and he doesn't feel like he can trust himself any longer.

and this is the kicker. this is probably the driving factor in jeff not wanting to talk to alan about what's happening. not only does he not want alan to worry about him (because yeah, the nosebleeds and new visions are scary), but he doesn't want to hurt the pack. charlie is the only other person in this delightfully fucked up little family who doesn't have that long, complicated connection to way. jeff knows just how insane it sounds to have seen way, and his little pause before he tells charlie only proves how conflicted he feels. he needs charlie to believe him, to make him understand that something is so very very wrong with him and his powers. but he's scared of the implications. either his visions are showing him something that isn't real and he can no longer trust himself or his body, or it is real and someone his loved ones loved his back, but he doesn't know how or why. and he can't tell alan or anyone else until he knows because he doesn't want to hurt them. and charlie is shocked, but it's not disbelief. it's the understanding that they're on the precipice of something big.

and it puts as right back at the beginning of season 1: charlie and jeff against the world, brought together by a vision that threatens their fragile peace.

Never seen it really discussed but despite his complaints about Pony Express, Jimmy is the only crew member to somewhat like being on the Tulpar.

Of course, the reason is sort of shallow, he likes being there due to the control he has in the cock pit as co-pilot. The fact that he’s actually in charge for once, even on such a minor scale. Everyone else has this open or held in contempt for physically being there but he likes it on a fundamental level, freaks out and lashes out on such a personal level when he realizes he’s losing the first job he’s probably enjoyed and that stability/control.

It’s not anything specific or I think polarizing about Jimmy but I feel like it adds to how he tells Curly this is home to him. Earth is objectively not a place of ease or comfort for Jimmy, but the Tulpar is. It’s a fucked up perversion of home and that’s so interesting for his character who also hates the corporate culture the most out of all of them.

Hey Jashers! So. I’ve recently seen a lot of people expressing how they feel the CJ community has been getting kinda toxic lately. It’s honestly really disheartening to see this happening, especially as this community and Chonny’s music/characters mean a lot to me. I guess this is all to say: if you feel the CJ community is getting toxic, let’s try to actually fix it. And no this doesn’t mean “make 10000 callout posts”. The Jash himself said both on Twitter/X and on the CJFS he’d rather all this (recent incident[s?]) be essentially acknowledged and dropped. If you want to keep this fandom alive and healthy (which I feel for the most part it already is! CJ is active in the discord server and is comfortable engaging with his fans and I think that alone is a really positive sign. Plus we have some incredible creativity and support !) do your best to contribute to the positivity and respectful, good content that we DO for the most part produce. You can make it clear that creeps, those looking to disrespect boundaries/privacy, etc. aren’t welcome here, but please try to do so effectively and only as needed. I know it’s kinda trite, but these people feed off attention and giving them more of it (regardless of whether it’s positive or negative) is only going to worsen the situation. In addition, if you can, please try to adopt the mindset that while flawed, this is an ultimately pretty good and respectful community. The more you express that it’s toxic and disgusting, the more it’s gonna live up to that.

[If you feel the need to distance yourself that’s totally fine and understandable too, just please do it for yourself and not as like. a statement I guess?? Idk I honestly haven’t seen anyone doing this I just thought it could be good to address]

TLDR: This community means a lot to me and I really desperately don’t want to watch it go to shit. Please for the love of whatever, let the toxicity die attention-less in the shade and just . be respectful. foster the actually positive parts of this fandom so they can prosper.

Another reason that Stansas hate the idea of Arya and Dany being friends (outside of them wanting to demonize Dany) is that they've convinced themselves that Dany and Sansa are the only main female characters, so if a Stark sister is going to have a significant relationship with Dany it has to be Sansa. Arya being constantly downplayed and treated like an accessory to Sansa has generally led to the consensus that her relationship with Dany will be defined by whatever Sansa's relationship (positive or negative) with her is. That's why Arya is always being left out of the "we were robbed of [x] female character friendship" conversations and why theories about Dany/Arya getting along are treated as Sansa hate; Arya, as a character, is seen as secondary to Sansa by a lot of people
