ok ive been combing thru the various homestuck tags since reading the upd8 and i have seen no one really talk about rose. which, given everything else is kind of fair. like look karkat and vriska being the most competent people in the room. june egg cracking.

but im so so so interested in what rose has going on. she's a seer of light. she saw everything that was going to play out. it was going to go right for the revolution. she wasn't going to have to receive consequences for her shitty actions (yeah yeah jade is culpable in some way too, but we're focusing on rose here).

and vriska, another light player, steals it from her. she takes the information rose saw and literally does not give a fuck, and yet again makes her own luck out of everyone elses.

and the way this breaks rose

ohhh my god. i genuinely don't think rose has had anything contradict her seer vision the entire 20ish years of candy. which would explain why she's losing her shit so much.

this is why i think light as an aspect has way a bit more to do with luck than information. rose was seeing what would be her luckiest timeline to escape consequence. she knew kanaya would have to forgive her because she saw it, so it'll be so.

and all of what she knows is now broken.

imagine you're able to know everything that will happen before it happens, and there's only one person who could possibly change it, but she's been gone so long you don't even register her as someone who could disrupt what you see. and for rose this has all come crashing down immediately, at one of the most tumultuous parts of her life post-game.

she doesn't see the future anymore. maybe she never did. one of the main things rose finds comfort in, at least in candy, is that she's in control of her situation. she knows whats happening at near all times. and vriska gives her a true reality check by taking her luck.

so she breaks, has a panic attack. kanaya hasn't forgiven her (presumably), she's not in a bullet induced coma or dead. her mental break isnt coming from just having to face her consequences, its coming from a complete upset of everything she thought she knew

Agatha All Along Classpects

The many variations of the Ballad of the Witches Road have been stuck in my head like a council of muses, so here we go.

It probably goes without saying, but SPOILER ALERT. Go watch WandaVision and Agatha All Along if you haven't already. They're fairly removed from the MCU (especially AAA), so you can still enjoy them even if you aren't a Marvel fan.

Also I aim to not repeat any classes or aspects, so only one of these witches will be a Witch ;-)

Agatha Harkness: Thief of Blood Agatha's main objective in life is to steal others' power for herself. She mainly does this by forming covens, gaining their trust, "bringing" them to the Witch's Road, and then stealing their magic when they attack her. Agatha's cunning is her deadliest weapon, she's able to repeatedly win people over regardless of their knowledge of her trickery. Not only does she ultimately break these bonds (to her benefit), but she also kills those around her in the process. Typical of a Thief to be the most relevant person in the story, even with Wanda in Westview; she was the true mastermind keeping the Hex going, not Wanda.

William Kaplan: Page of Mind Pages have the most potential, and as the son of the Scarlet Witch, Billy is fitting of this class. He starts his life off as a completely different person, Billy Maximoff, but is able to transfer his mind to the body of William Kaplan during a near death experience. Eventually, he discovers that he has powers, but is unable to use or control them. He seeks out Agatha to guide him to the Witch's Road, which— as we find out— was never a real place. Billy was able to conjure it into existence based on his and others' perceptions of it. He used his coven's thoughts to ultimately give them their deepest desire. Even still, he had no idea that he did it until all is said and done. While he has been proven to be a powerful witch, he still has much to learn.

Rio Vidal: Witch of Doom No one is more fit for this God Tier than the original green witch. Rio Vidal, also known as Lady Death, is the embodiment of the life cycle. Being able to manipulate death manipulating life as well. The best example of this is when gives Agatha the kiss of death, and as she rapidly decays into the earth, plants grow in her wake. You could say that the only factors differentiation her from a Witch of Life is that she has an emphasis on death over life, and that her personality is morose and macabre, over the typical life player's bubbly attitude.

Jennifer Kale: Mage of Breath The Mage of Breath is someone who understands freedom, mostly because she lacks it herself. Early on, we learn that Jen is bound, and unable to use her magic. Despite this, she helps others find happiness through her Kale Kare products. Even while in perilous situations on the Witch's Road, she seeks to understand her fellow coven members, and help them complete the trials. This directly contrasts with Agatha, who uses the others as tools for her desires. And as we find out in the penultimate episode that Agatha was the one who bound her. I suspect that even with her freedom regained, Jen will struggle with her identity, as she emerges from the Witch's Road anew.

Alice Wu-Gulliver: Knight of Hope Alice has been cursed from birth, which led her to leave a miserable life. She developed an "I don't care" attitude to cover up her depression and insecurities of constantly feeling like a failure. Despite this, she is a protection witch. She grows to care deeply about her fellow witches, and uses their hope as her driving force to protect them. When she finally breaks her family's curse, she is invigorated with hope that she can lead a normal life. Tragically, she dies protecting her fellow witches— a fitting end to a Knight.

Lilia Calderu: Seer of Time Lilia is easily the Seer of Time, as someone who literally has flashes of the future. In this case, her God Tier is more so something that she has to overcome, but in doing so, can use it to her benefit. Once she understands her visions, she also uses her gift to help others. She tells Agatha to duck in her fight against Rio, she gives Billy his spell book, and she inspires Jen by telling her that she is "the path ahead". Even in her pedestrian life, Lilia was a tarot reader, showing people a glimpse into their future. She used this to help Billy ease his way into his new life, by placing a sigil on him. Lastly, Lilia has the trademark confusing timeline of someone who is bound to the aspect of Time. She experienced her life out of time, and it is thought that once she died, she was able to go back in time and relive her life with her newfound knowledge.

Sharon Davis: Sylph of Life As previously mentioned, Life players typically have a bubbly and friendly personality; Sharon definitely fits the bill, even if her positivity comes from her naïveté. Throughout her story, she is constantly helping those around her: she's a loving housewife and takes care of her husband, she helps Wanda cope by playing a part in her sitcom, and she helps her coven in the first trial. Granted, she was forced into the role of Mrs. Hart, and had no idea what was happening in the events of Agatha All Along, but she supported these people nonetheless. Ironically, she was the first to die, and in the very first trial, no less. And she was the only person to not be healed by the Witch's Road. Even those who died after her had their deepest desires granted.

A thief of void is someone who steals void or steals through void for themselves while a prince of light is someone who destroys or destroys through light for themselves.

So I think it would make sense for a parasite of stagnancy to destroys through light by stealing void or steals through void by destroying light. (if that makes sense)

Parasites of Stagnancy are very secretive people, and don't exactly seem very useful or important unless they make a point to do otherwise. They could also be seemingly just really confusing and all over the place or just seem like they are some kind of background character while they're secretly in control of everything they may need to happen.

when interacting with others they could probably be going on and on about random things that are unimportant and have nothing to do with the situation, essentially distracting others from what they're doing when no ones watching.

they'd know everyone's secrets because no one really thinks they can do any damage by knowing. they prolly give horrible advise on purpose lmfaoo.

they'll either make or break their session all while no ones looking. They will likely start their game by being everyone's friend, or just knowing everyone, but probably not liking any of them. Eventually once they get into their land, they'll start distancing themselves and focusing on moving up their echeladder and godteiring before the rest of their team. from then, they'll stick around people, listening in on their private conversations, and learning things they weren't supposed to. they'll uses what they learn to give people a *push* into the right direction. they might push a little too hard, which would be their downfall.

Their strife specibus will likely consist of small things that they could hide on themselves. things that rely on luck or are easy if you know how they work. probably things like Vriska's dice, daggers, or maybe a wand. Their powers might consist of ruining luck for others, blinding others, or controlling light in general, going invisible, making objects (like how Roxy made the matriorb), and disorienting/confusing someone.

Random character rant/idea i got

so i was listening to the song Im Sane by Axie and i was thinking about homestuck

(bc god forbid i can’t go a minute without thinking about it)

and i was wondering about how Dirk can basically take someone’s soul out of one’s body and wondering if you could put said souls into a object

so i thought about making a a Thief of Heart who steals peoples souls and puts them into their dolls or stuffed animals, whatever item of your choice.

"DAVEBOT: the way that doesnt make me gay" strongly indicates to me that knight is the active one in the knight/page pair; dave uses time to bend to *his* will. someone like jake is more like a servant to hope that just explodes to provide it

I agree. iirc the knight was explicitly stated to be an active class. The thing that gets me is the page's canon "fights to preserve" verbiage is pretty much what I understood the maid to be before, with the maintaining of their aspect. So all current maid fraymotifs i have up rn would actually be better explained as pages.

I really did like the heir/page pairing because the pages and heirs both had a character arc of "becoming" something more. And the thing that's most frustrating in terms of charting all this out is-- like, okay, i can get the page replacing the maid. that makes sense, and im with it. But it donks up everything else.

We know that the prince/bard and thief/rogue pairs are correct, as well as the seer, knight, and witch classes being correct, but the Mage, Page, Heir, Maid, and Sylph are all up for nuance.

Messing around with those 5, if I were to move them around, some possible other pairs could be mage/sylph? because they're both explicitly magic users. but I actually think mage/seer works better because the only mages we know of, Sollux and Meulin are stated guides, sollux guiding the beta trolls into their doomed session and/or guiding LE to their universe, and Meulin being a relationship guru. I know that some people pair sylph/maid or maid/sylph because theyre both support roles, but all of the passive classes can be support roles or team-oriented. witch/heir is also a popular matchup because "changing your aspect" and "changing into your aspect", as well as heriesses like feferi and damara (being under LE) as well as the mechanics of. witch/maid is also another heiresses pairing, now including jane. maid/heir seems like a really weak possibility, but "actively serving your aspect" and "your aspect passively serving you" so its not too far out there.

So i think im locking in mage/seer "understand your aspect"/"know your aspect". And honestly witch/heir is really appealing given the other options; i really like the "change your aspect"/"change into your aspect" angle. But I also really like the witch/sylph "break the rules"/"mend the losses" pairing.

All in all, i think our two best options with the knowledge we have currently are witch/sylph knight/page maid/heir mage/seer thief/rogue prince/bard OR witch/heir knight/page/ sylph/maid mage/seer thief/rogue prince/bard.

The first option would be convient because that's less fraymotifs id have to revise, but gotta consider all the options. I'd love to hear more input on this, if anyone wants to give their opinions, i dont think im ready to lock in a decision right away on account of the implications for the whole blog concept lol
