This is the first entry of the first of my two experimental audience participation fics. Participation instructions are below the fic segment.

Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead.

That stupid aphorism ran through Danny’s head as he looked at the Ghost Catcher and clenched and unclenched his hands.  This… This was a bad idea.  He knew.  But he was going to go crazy if he couldn’t talk to someone.

He might be going crazy now, seeing as his brilliant idea was to split himself in two and talk to himself.  

But lots of people talked to themselves to work out problems, right?  As long as they didn’t think they were talking to another person it was fine.

This was just a more extreme version of that, that’s all.  

(If he stared at the Ghost Catcher anymore, he might not do it.)

Danny breathed in deeply, transformed in a flash of light, then flew through the glowing green threads of the Ghost Catcher.  

There was a moment of sharp disorientation, of vertigo, of feeling simultaneously caught on the lines, like walking through a spiderweb, and falling through them untouched, of skin pulling stickily away from skin, of looking down and up at himself at the same time, and then–

Phantom caught Danny by the wrist, and, carefully, lowered himself– him the rest of the way to the ground.  

“Wow, that– So, that worked,” said Danny.  The last time, he– they had only been separated for a few seconds.  Long enough to note it as happening and then re-merge.  He'd half expected to get sucked back together just as fast this time.  

Phantom looked up at the Ghost Catcher, then back at Danny.  He nodded.  “So… you wanted to talk to me?”

“Shouldn’t I be saying that to you?” asked Danny.  “I mean, it’s about ghost stuff, isn’t it?”

“And lying to everyone in our human life,” said Phantom, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow.  

Ugh, did Danny really look like that in ghost form?  All… upright.  And shiny.  It didn’t seem real.  Was it real?  Danny never had to interpret his body language from the outside before.  

Danny slumped.  “Maybe this isn’t going to work.  We should just… go back together.”

“What?  No!” said Phantom.  “We haven’t even tried yet.”

“Then you say something.”

They glared at each other for a second, then Phantom clicked his tongue.  “Fine,” he said, “but it's not like you don't already know.”

“Yeah, that was the point.”

Phantom didn't reply right away, instead looking around the lab with an expression of increasing distaste.  His eyes fell on the portal and he scowled before looking away.  “Can we go somewhere else?  I hate it here.”

“You do?” asked Danny, surprised.  Did… did he hate it down here?  He wasn’t sure.  

“Uh, yeah?” Phantom looked down at Danny, incredulous.  “It's full of weapons made specifically to hurt me.”

“Not specifically you,” objected Danny.  “They made a bunch of these before they even knew you existed.”

“Wow, that makes me feel so much better,” said Phantom.  “They’re just for hurting and hunting down ghosts.”

"Why did it blow up?" Emmrich asked Rana, trying to grasp on to the slippery concept of time and circumstance, how it brought them both to this point.

"I'm not sure," Rana's face was concerned as though she too was trying to figure that out. "But it didn't work, right?" She tried to give him a reassuring smile that didn't quite translate, pat him on the leg, and rose. She moved out of his line of sight just as Neve and Rook returned, another person suspended between them.

"Just lay him there." Rana instructed them. Emmrich didn't turn his head as he heard shuffling and moving. Everything was starting to feel heavy again.

"… and he's practically moribund, I don't know that there's much we can even do." He heard Rook's voice coming closer as his consciousness started to drift again, the darkness around the edges of his vision becoming more saturated.

"He's what?" The voice sounded like Neve's this time.

"Way past half-dead," came the clarification. "You should try what you can but— no, no, shit, Emmrich." He thought it might be Rook's cool fingers that pried at his eyelids as they fluttered uselessly. He heard her command to stay awake, the plea in her voice but couldn't heed her request. He had done his best for as long as he could.

*cackles in evil laughter* a friend told me if I was facing down writers block to make something explode. So I did and I think it worked out well.

Trivia for your time: Your brain hides your nose from your conscious awareness. Bet you noticed it now tho, right?

Rook as a Companion AU

Coadi’s Personal Quest Line

Some concepts and options because I couldn’t decide. 

Coadi is an Arlathan Guide (in functionality they’re a marker you follow/walk behind to certain areas and quests in the Arlathan Forest. They help you avoid the many perils therein, calm spirits and have plenty of ambient dialogue about certain Fade touched creatures or Veil pitfalls, and frequently work with their team of NPCs to tinker with/enchant and/or create helpful tools. Most of which catch fire.) – they’re a Mystical Forest Ranger that insists on joining your team to fight the gods, navigate Fade pockets anywhere, and negotiate with agitated spirits on your behalf. Like a portable Veil Smokey the Bear. “You too can prevent Fade pockets” type energy (thank you @hedwigoprah for that. You’re a hero and I literally can’t stop laughing)

Their adopted brother Revas is a linguist trying to piece together ancient texts and decipher Ancient Elvhen fragments of language and culture

An estranged teammate, Damari, is working to find and destroy a mystery demon that hops bodies and dreams and creates violent Fade pockets wherever it goes, the very same that gave Coadi all their lightning scars

Not to mention, Orlesian politics and family mess left far behind (or so Coadi thought)

Potential for some really fun personal quests! And I really like the idea of if you bring Coadi to the Hossberg Wetlands to see Antoine, they immediately launch into spirited discussion in Orlesian and Trade about inventions, ideas and anomalies vs. Blight)

Their room in the Lighthouse would probably be stuck in a small room next to the ground floor of the library. Looking straight on at the main Lighthouse sanctum from the courtyard, it'd be up the stairs on the right in that little ivy covered alcove. A simple brown door inlaid with brass. Inside is a space covered wall to wall with maps, tables strewn with inkwells, watercolors and charting tools. The center of the room is a small firepit, constantly crackling to evoke a sense of adventuring in the outdoors, and somehow the stone roof has a porthole that shimmers with the stars of a nighttime landscape. Like a skylight. A rack of weapons against the wall have rapiers arranged by height, and several quivers of arrows. The space smells like fresh pine, almonds and incense smoke, and is kept relatively dark but for the firepit and a few burning oil lamps that illuminate scraps of brass contraptions being tinkered with on the worktable. There may or may not be a single orange Minrathous cat with a notched ear sleeping on a round cotton bed pushed under a worktable. His name may or may not be Brioche.

one of the (MANY!) things that i can’t stop thinking about regarding that horrible discourse post is the way that the terms sexual harassment and sexual assault are thrown around. i think that whether or not the incident (where james turns snape upside down with his own spell and exposes his underwear in front of everyone) “counts” as sexual harassment or assault doesn’t really matter. at least, not in the way the people in that discourse post think that it matters.

how we as the readers would define this event based on our own morality is relatively unimportant. what actually matters in this situation is how snape experienced it. nobody involved in that discourse post considers whether snape himself would define this event as sexual assault – and even if he would define it as such, whether that would influence his perception of how harmful it was. after all, people can experience the same event differently; what one person considers a bad day can be extremely traumatic for someone else. because of this, trying to objectively quantify the degree of harm snape experienced by defining this incident as sexual assault, harassment, bullying, or whatever, obscures the most important part of the incident – which is how it affected snape! it's so frustrating, because this is something that we could actually have interesting discourse about. did james know how deeply his actions were affecting snape? would he have changed his behavior if he knew? or did he already know, and simply not care?

but even more frustrating is the fact that despite all of the animosity in that post, i don't think anyone involved actually cares about whether or not the incident was sexual harassment/assault. the function of those terms in that post is simply to assign morality to the people involved. if the incident counts as sexual assault, then snape is a Victim and therefore Good, and james is a Perpetrator and therefore Bad. if it wasn’t sexual assault, then the incident wasn’t really that harmful, so snape is Bad and james is Good. it’s mind-bogglingly reductive. i guess it's just remarkable that everyone involved in that post seems so confident in their ability to define sexual harassment and assault, while simultaneously ignoring any of the effects that this could have had on snape. instead, sexual harassment and assault just serve as proxies for morality in the never-ending argument of whether or not snape Bad.

tl;dr what you call this incident does not determine the amount of harm it caused, and also you should care about the amount of harm it caused if you're going to make claims about morality

Clicking on a M.oshi Monsters iceberg video that I didn't care much for but decided to click on the person's channel to see if they uploaded a video afterwards cause at the end of the video they jokingly said "100 likes and I'll buy my weight in merch" and haha that's funny, just to see five days ago they posted a teaser about whether M.oshi Monsters was up to something or not because apperently they released Moshi Play on the app store(which as far as I'm aware is just the same minigames in Moshi Sleep) and got a Tiktok account that they started putting videos on and rereleased the music Rox album on their socials and are making a bunch of teasing comment replies about being up to making something wasnt. I wasnt ready for that. Where did that come from. Hm. They. They even commented on said video taht i just watched. Which was released like five days ago and only has like 500 views.

FIRST OF ALL DAIGO GAMEPLAY REAL

Second of all finished Chapter 1 <3 I watched an Xbox stream muted at 2x while skipping battles because I wanted to save the proper experience for my friend's stream and your stream but uhhhhh <3 without saying too much or setting any expectations <3 personal favorite Kiryu game no contest LOL but I figured it would be so no surprises there... I'm def taking note of how long individual chapters might take and stuff since this wasn't exactly an Optimal Playthrough but we'll get there when we get there

spectragus dont get enough credit for being a sun and moon ship but like. destructive sun and moon ship. sun and moon ship but they're the forces of nature the sun and moon actually are. the sun is harsh and relentless and unpredictable in its evil but also it's kindness, the moon is sharp and cold and cruel, a harsh light that doesn't allow you peace, but can also guide you, a light in the darkness. even on nights with a new moon, with no light in the sky, the moon is always reflecting the sun, and it'll be that way until they come to their end.
