"Boost Your Brand with a Flyer: Essential Steps to Make a Flyer to Promote Your Business"
Creating an eye-catching flyer can be an excellent way to promote your business and attract new customers. Whether you’re advertising an upcoming event, a product launch, or a special discount, a well-designed flyer can convey your message quickly and effectively. Here’s an easy-to-follow guide on how to make a flyer to promote your business and maximize its impact.
Step 1: Define Your Purpose and Audience
Understanding the goal of your flyer is the first step. Are you looking to increase foot traffic, introduce a new product, or announce a sale? Clarifying your purpose will help you create a focused message. Likewise, knowing your target audience—such as age, interests, or location—ensures that your flyer appeals directly to the people you want to reach.
Step 2: Craft a Compelling Headline
The headline is the most critical part of your flyer, so make it strong and relevant to capture attention. It should be concise and get to the point. For example, phrases like “Grand Opening!” or “Limited-Time Offer!” can draw immediate interest. Ensure that your headline aligns with the flyer’s goal and sets the tone for the rest of the content.
Step 3: Keep Your Message Simple and Direct
Your flyer should communicate essential information quickly. Use short sentences and focus on the core details—what, where, when, and why. Avoid overwhelming readers with too much text; instead, break down information into bullet points to make it easy to read. Keeping the message simple helps your audience understand it at a glance.
Step 4: Design with Colors and Fonts that Reflect Your Brand
Color choice is important as it can evoke specific emotions and enhance readability. Stick to a color scheme that complements your brand—this could mean using your brand’s signature colors or a palette that reflects the flyer’s theme. Similarly, use fonts that are easy to read and align with your brand’s style. Limit your font choices to two or three for a cohesive, professional look.
Step 5: Use High-Quality Images
Images make a flyer more attractive and can convey a message without words. Select high-resolution, relevant images that highlight your product, service, or event. For example, a restaurant might use close-up shots of its popular dishes, while a clothing boutique could feature images of its latest collection. Quality visuals add credibility and make your flyer stand out.
Step 6: Highlight a Clear Call-to-Action (CTA)
A call-to-action encourages readers to take the next step. Whether it’s “Visit Us Today,” “Shop Now,” or “Sign Up for Free,” make your CTA bold and prominent. It’s also helpful to include a QR code or website link to provide a quick way for customers to access more information.
Step 7: Balance Content with White Space
A well-structured layout improves readability and makes the flyer more appealing. Ensure there’s enough white space between sections to prevent overcrowding. Use a logical flow, placing the headline at the top, followed by the main information, and ending with the call-to-action and contact details.
Step 8: Include Your Logo and Contact Information
Adding your logo and contact details reinforces your brand and helps people reach out. Place your logo at the top or bottom, and include essential contact information like a phone number, website, and social media handles. These details establish credibility and allow customers to connect with you easily.
Step 9: Proofread and Print Professionally
A well-designed flyer loses impact if it has errors, so always proofread for spelling or grammatical mistakes. Once your flyer is finalized, consider professional printing options. High-quality paper and vibrant colors can make a big difference in the presentation, helping your flyer to look polished and memorable.
Creating a flyer may seem straightforward, but using these steps on how to make a flyer to promote your business ensures your design is effective and impactful. Whether you’re handing it out on the street, including it in mailers, or displaying it at your business location, a great flyer can draw attention, generate interest, and boost your brand’s reach.

How to Improve Organic Click Through for Your Content
Organic search results act like oxygen for lots of websites. When your content gets lots of clicks, it means it is catching the eye of people using search engines and getting them to visit your site. CTR is really important because it decides where you rank in search results, which is a major factor in judging how effective your digital marketing is.
Tumblr media
Digital marketing companies have the skills and tools to study search engine rules, how people behave online, and your content to boost your click-through rate (CTR). They get what makes people click and can use that knowledge to help you.
Digital marketing companies are super important for boosting your website's click-through rate (CTR). They've got pros who know how to make your content look better in search results. They use special tools to find the perfect keywords and keep an eye on how well your content does. With all their experience, they know exactly what tricks work best to get people clicking on your site.
Understanding the Importance of Organic CTR
Organic CTR is the percentage of folks who click on a link to your website in search engine results pages once they spot it. It's super important in content marketing because it directly tells you how good your titles, meta descriptions, and overall search results look. If your CTR is high, it means your content is hitting the mark with the people you want to reach.
When lots of people keep clicking on your content, search engines consider that your website is useful and meets what users are looking for. It contributes to make your website rank higher in search engine results and more people will come across your website organically. On the flip side if not many people are clicking on your content then it could mean that your search results aren't exciting enough.
Crafting Compelling Headlines and Meta Descriptions
The headline of your content is the very first thing your audience sees, and sometimes, it's your only shot at getting their attention. A great headline needs to be eye-catching, spark curiosity, and offer something worth their while. It's like the bait that makes people want to click and find out more. So, here are some ways to create headlines that make people curious and stir up their emotions. Add numbers and statistics like "10 Proven Ways to Increase Your CTR" OR Ask Questions like "Are Your Headlines Failing to Attract Clicks?"
Make your meta description work for you by giving a summary and tempting users to click. Your meta description is the little blurb of text under your headline in search results. Use it to build on your headline, give extra details, and even ask people to take action. It should tell people why your content is valuable. Imagine it as your sales pitch that persuades people your website is worth a click.
Leveraging Rich Snippets and Structured Data
Rich snippets are fancy search results that show more than just the regular title, link, and description. They jazz up your listing with extra details like star ratings, prices, cooking times, pictures, or event info. This makes your content pop in search results and catches people's eyes and makes them more likely to click.
Structured data markup like Schema.org is code that you add to your website's HTML. It tells search engines exactly what your content is about and its type. This helps search engines show more detailed and useful search results that are easier for people to understand.
Enhancing Content Quality and Relevance
It's really important to create content that's valuable and fits what users are looking for. The search engines focus on giving their audience the best results possible. So, if your content is relevant and answers what people are searching for then it is more likely to show up higher in search results and get clicked on. Make sure you focus on making detailed, helpful content that truly benefits your audience.
Ways to make your content better for specific keywords without making it less good overall. It's important to research keywords, but it shouldn't be more important than making awesome content. Here's how to do both well:
Natural integration: Include keywords naturally in your writing, without forcing them in too much, which can make your content harder to read.
Focus on the topic - Instead of focusing on just one word, look at a bigger topic or idea. This lets you give more helpful stuff and include the right words more naturally.
Utilizing Social Proof and Trust Signals
When people see that others have liked your content, they're more likely to trust it and click on it. Put positive reviews, customer comments, and shout-outs from people who matter in your industry on your website and in your content. This shows that others have found your products, services, or info helpful.
Adding trust signs like certifications, awards, and security badges. Trust signs make people feel good about visiting your site. Show off any certifications, awards, or security badges you have on your website where people can see them easily. These signs make your site seem more trustworthy and let users know it's safe to use.
Making people trust you more to get more clicks and sales. Social proof and trust signs help people feel safer when they're dealing with your brand. People are more likely to click on your search results when they feel safe. Where there is trust, the chances of conversion increase.
Conclusion
Making your organic click-through rate better is crucial for getting more people to visit your website, making your brand more well-known, and making your SEO better overall. Use the best strategies like choosing the right words to aim for, making interesting titles and short descriptions, using fancy search results, and making sure your content is top-notch and on-topic.
Digital marketing companies have the skills, tools, and know-how to carefully check out your content and make it better to get more clicks. They understand how search engines work and what people do online, which can help your website stand out from the competition.
If you want to boost your click-through rate and get more of the right people visiting your website, think about teaming up with a well-known digital marketing company like CodeViner. They can create a plan just for you and help you reach your goals for marketing online.

Backlink Monitoring The Unsung Hero of SEO Success
Introduction
Every SEO professional knows that search engines consider many factors to rank and rank millions of websites every day. However, no one knows exactly (except the search engine developers themselves) exactly how their algorithm works. However, practice shows that backlinks are an important ranking factor. Backlink monitoring is
In this article, we will introduce you to the most effective strategies to monitor your backlinks. We'll also tell you what you can get out of it, how to improve your methods, how to align them with other SEO activities, and more.
Why is backlink monitoring important for SEO?
The term describes how many and what kind of links are pointing to your site. Google pays special attention to this data because it helps them understand who your website is, who your friends are, and what content is valuable.
Your site's backlink profile may contain, which has a negative impact on optimization. Bad links are great examples, such as spam links and links from so-called link networks.
If you control your link profile and remove unwanted links, it will greatly affect your website's SEO performance. Google will "like" you better and reward you with a .
Every website should strive to keep their backlink profile in top shape. There is no better way to do this than to monitor backlinks frequently.
What can you earn by monitoring your backlinks?
The foundation of every successful business is a strong SEO campaign. But with the myriad of optimization tools and techniques out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. Well, fear not, because I have just the WhatsApp Mobile Number List thing to help you. Introducing Ranktracker, an all-in-one platform for effective SEO optimization.
Link building is only half of SEO success. The next imperative step is backlink monitoring. Here are the main benefits it can provide:
Discover new backlinks and opportunities
Tumblr media
Backlink Monitoring provides link building options including:
Finding unrelated brand mentions
Discovering sites that link to your competitors but not to you
finding websites that link to outdated or broken resources where you can offer updated or better content.
Researching high authority and relevant websites in your niche that could potentially become your partners or influencers.
Once these possibilities are identified, contact the respective site owners or editors. Ask them to include a link to your website or provide some valuable information in exchange for a backlink. This proactive approach helps improve your website's visibility and authority in the online environment.
Evaluate the quality and value of your backlinks
Authority and credibility of the linking site
Relevance and quality of linked content and audience.
Diversity and relevance of anchor text
Location and context of the link on the page
Number and quality of other links on the page
Getting your backlink done right helps measure its contribution to your site's SEO health. This allows you to identify the most effective links and explore ways to replicate or improve them.
When it comes to backlinks, the rule is that quality trumps quantity . Remember that a link from an authoritative site "weighs" much more than, say, 100 low-quality links. Some backlinks can even harm your site's reputation or performance. Better to decline link requests from these types of sites:
Links from low quality or spam sites that have no relevance or authority in your niche.
Links from sites that have been penalized or banned by Google.
Links from sites that use manipulative or deceptive SEO practices.
Links from sites that have a high number of outbound links or a low number of inbound links.
Links from sites that have negative or malicious content or intent.
If you don't have enough SEO knowledge, it's very easy to fall into the trap of dealing with low-quality websites. They can have a beautiful design and look legit, but for example a quick check on Ahrens will show that they have a DR of 0. Not to mention that your website can be about cars and the other is promoting a flower shop. Nothing in common, right? Even if you like the site, you shouldn't link to it.
Therefore, if you have discovered any untrustworthy sites linking to your site, remove or disavow those links immediately. Contact the site owner or editor and politely ask them to remove the link. Link cancellation means that Google should not count the link when ranking your website. Use  to submit a list of links you want to exclude.
Spy on your competitors' backlink strategies
Tumblr media
Backlink monitoring only applies to your website. This also applies to your competitors' websites. This is a smart way to discover their strategies and tactics and thus learn from their successes and failures.
Some of the things you can learn from your competitors' backlinks are:
their target and ranking keywords
the type of content they create and promote.
Sites they link to
The anchor texts they use
Indicators they track and optimize
Helps you spot their strengths and weaknesses and use them to your advantage. For example, you can try to provide the same or similar authority backlinks that your competitors have provided. Also, if you notice any broken or missing links, you can contact the site owners and ask them to replace those links with your own.
Metrics to track for backlink monitoring
When monitoring backlinks, there are a few metrics that you should pay close attention to. Check them out here:
Total number of backlinks to your site
It shows how popular and authoritative your site is compared to other sites. The more backlinks you have, the better. Your chances of ranking higher in search engines and thus attracting more organic traffic are greater. However, quantity is not everything. The quality of your backlinks should also be considered.
Authority and credibility of linking sites
This indicator shows the credibility and influence of websites that link to your website. Trusted websites add more value to your website. This value can be estimated by considering factors such as Domain Authority (DA), Page Authority (PA), Trust Flow (TF) and Citation Flow (CF) etc.
Diversity and relevance of anchor texts
Anchor texts are words or phrases that contain a hyperlink. They offer context and insight into the nature of your site and targeted keywords. The ideal scenario is to have multiple anchor texts that match your site's topic and keywords, but are not keyword-stuffed.
Location and context of the link on the page
Don't underestimate the location of your links. Good places for your links are the main content, lists, headings or subheadings of the partner site. On the other hand, links placed in footers, sidebars, and ads are less valuable because they receive less attention from both users and search engines.
How to effectively monitor your backlinks
Tumblr media
Now we come to the main question: how to effectively monitor your backlinks? There are many techniques that can complement each other.
Let's take a look at everything you need to know about them, from the most difficult methods to automated solutions that save time and effort.
Manual backlink monitoring
There are some simple ways to monitor your backlinks that involve manual work. However, they are worth a try.
Setting up Google alerts
Google Alerts is a free service from Google that allows you to monitor all references to your brand, keywords or topics of interest across the web. Here's what you need to do.
Once you've set it up, you'll receive an email notification whenever Google finds a new mention of your term on the web. You can use this information to check new backlinks, test them and act accordingly.
Use of Google search operators
Google search operators are rarely used because few people know about them. These are special commands that you can type into the Google search box to get specific results.
The foundation of every successful business is a strong SEO campaign. But with the myriad of optimization tools and techniques out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. Well, fear not, because I have just the thing to help you. Introducing Ranktracker, an all-in-one platform for effective SEO optimization.
Organizing backlink data into spreadsheets or dashboards
Once you're done gathering backlink data from various sources, it's time to organize and save it for future analysis. This is where simple spreadsheets or dashboards come in handy. Add in them all the relevant information about your backlinks, for example:
Link page URL
The URL of the linked page
Link anchor text
The date the feedback was provided
Authority and credibility of the linking site
Location and context of the link on the page
The impact of a link on your keyword rankings and traffic
Link status (active or broken).
It doesn't end there. It is good to use different formulas, filters or charts to visualize and analyze the data. Last but not least, don't forget to regularly check the information you collect and update your spreadsheet or dashboard.
Using free or paid backlink monitoring tools
Moving on to more advanced ways to monitor your backlinks with free or paid tools. They can be accessed through most web browsers, including Chrome and  , providing easy monitoring of the performance and quality of your backlink profile.
Here are the three main web services we recommend using:
Google Search Console
Google Search Console is a free service that provides detailed information about your website's presence in Google search results. When it comes to backlinks, it can show you how many and where they're coming from, what anchor texts have been used, and more. As mentioned above, you can also use Google Search Console to opt out of links you don't want Google to consider.
Ashraf
Although a free backlink checker is available, its capabilities are limited. Usually its paid version is better. Ahrens offers a set of features for SEO analysis and optimization. It's unrivaled at examining the backlink profiles of your site and your competitors, turning information into tangible DR (Domain Rank) metrics.
In addition, Ahrens notifies you of new or lost links, web mentions, etc. This tool helps you find new link opportunities, analyze the quality and value of your links, track your link building progress, track your referred traffic, and more.
Ranktracker
It is a popular paid tool that provides various SEO solutions and insights. A free seven-day trial is available for anyone who wants to try it first.  evaluates the authority and trustworthiness of a target page's link profile using the UR (URL Rank) measurement. A site's DR (Domain Rank) indicates how strong its backlink profile is compared to other sites included in the database. The backlink monitoring option lets you set everything up with just a few clicks.
Backlink Manager
The foundation of every successful business is a strong SEO campaign. But with the myriad of optimization tools and techniques out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. Well, fear not, because I have just the thing to help you. Introducing Ranktracker, an all-in-one platform for effective SEO optimization.
Backlink Manager is one of the best to simplify your link building efforts. Easily share goals with partners using shared pages You can send link requests directly from specific pages on partner websites and receive real-time updates on link exchanges. The tool also allows you to keep track of each affiliate, both in terms of link quantity and quality.
Ways to improve your backlink monitoring practice
Backlink monitoring is not a one-time event. It is an ongoing process that requires regular in-depth attention. To improve your backlink monitoring practices, you should take the following steps:
Update backlink reports and analytics regularly
As mentioned above, it is very important to keep your backlink reports and analytics up to date. It is better to do this at least once a month or whenever there is a significant change in your backlink profile. This will help you track your progress and identify issues or opportunities that need to be addressed.
Conduct periodic link audits and cleaning.
Performing a periodic link audit and cleanup is the best way to ensure that your link profile is in top shape. This means checking and fixing any broken links, deleting or eliminating surrogate or low-quality links, recovering lost or stolen links, etc.
Plan and execute a proactive link building campaign
Link building is an evergreen element of SEO. If done correctly, it only brings positive benefits to your website. Therefore, planning and executing a proactive link building campaign should always be on your agenda. This way, you will ensure that your link profile grows and improves.
Coordinating backlink monitoring with other SEO activities
Since SEO is a complex issue, it is only natural to conclude that link building is related to other SEO activities that are no less important.
Let's talk a little more about that.
Monitor how your backlinks affect your keyword rankings and traffic.
The main purpose of backlink monitoring is to find out how your backlinks are affecting your keyword rankings and traffic. You want to know which backlinks are helping you rank higher for your target keywords and which links are driving qualified visitors to your site. Fortunately, there are various tools available to track both your backlinks and keywords.
Evaluate how your site's performance and UX are affected by your site's backlinks.
Another aspect of backlink monitoring is to evaluate how your backlinks impact your site's performance and user experience (UX). You want to make sure that your backlinks don't hurt your site's speed, security, or usability. Nowadays, Google prefers websites with high speed. You should use a tool that can measure website performance and UX metrics, such as Google Insights.
Content and page optimization
Creating content that attracts and engages both users and search engines is very important. In addition, it should match the intentions and expectations of your backlink sources . Use online tools like Neuron writer or the HARPA AI Chrome extension to optimize your content and pages for SEO.
Connect and build relationships with other sites
You want to become an authority in your field and network with other influencers and webmasters who can vouch for your content and website. To do this, it is best to use a tool that can help you find and contact potential link partners, such as Buzz Stream.
Conclusion
Backlink monitoring is an integral part of SEO. It helps to improve your website ranking, traffic and reputation. However, backlink monitoring can also be a complex and time-consuming task that requires constant attention and analysis.
To facilitate and make backlink monitoring easier and more efficient, you should use special software or tools, automate tasks and alerts, track the right metrics and improve your practice. By doing so, you can optimize your backlink profile and ultimately achieve your SEO goals.

30+ SEO Job Interview Questions & Answers
30+ SEO Job Interview Questions & Answers
Table of Contents:
SEO Interview Questions for Freshers
SEO Interview Questions for Analysts
SEO Interview Questions from Industry Experts
The outcome of a job interview depends on how well you prepare for it. Interview preparations not only involve researching for your job but also how you choose to answer the questions posed. In this article, I have curated a list of top questions and answers for SEO interviews to help you get your dream SEO job.
Please note, these are some SEO questions I would ask a candidate based on the role they are applying for and may not necessarily be asked by others.
SEO Interview Questions for Freshers (or someone at the Beginner level)
The set of questions listed below are specially for someone who is fresh out of college, someone who has just completed a digital marketing course or has recently completed an internship.
1. What is SEO?
This is one of the most basic questions that can be expected during an interview, especially for a beginner.
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is the practice of optimizing your website to improve your site’s visibility on search engines and for their users. In simple words, it is a practice that will help your site show up more often on the SERP (Search Engine Result Page) for relevant searches.
2. Name 5 basic on-page elements in SEO?
URL Structure
To be able to crawl and index content and direct users to it, search engines require a unique URL for each piece of content. When deciding a URL structure, you need to use your target keywords and avoid a lengthy and vague URL riddled with numbers.
Title Links (Title Links are Title Tags as most of you may be familiar with)
A title link is the title that appears on the SERP and other properties that link to the web page. Google can automatically determine the title link by using different sources, but you can indicate your preferences by following the guidelines shared by Google. A title tag is an HTML element specified in the HTML code of a webpage.
Sample: <title>50+ SEO Job Interview Questions & Answers</title>
Meta Description
Google and other search engines can use the meta description tags as snippets for your pages in Google Search results. While a page’s title is a few words, the description can be a sentence or two or even a short paragraph. Adding a meta description tag to each of your pages is always a good practice in case Google cannot find a good selection of text to use in the snippet.
Sample: <meta name=”description” content=” Uncover the top SEO Interview Questions and Answers that will help you prepare for your next interview and ace it in the first attempt”>
Header Tags
Heading tags can be used to define the hierarchical structure for your content. This makes it easier for the bots to crawl and understand the page better and helps users to navigate your content.
Content Optimization
Content is undoubtedly the most important factor when it comes to on-page SEO. Without proper content, search engines won’t have enough information to index your pages correctly and help you rank. One should not only look into creating new content but also update their existing content.
3. How Google Search Works?
According to me, no SEO interview questions guide is complete without this question.
Google’s mission is to organize all the information available across the globe and make it accessible and useful for one and all. In order to do that, Google Search works in three stages:
Crawling
Crawling is the process of finding new or updated pages that Google can add to its database with automated programs called crawlers. The search engine will discover new pages when it follows a link from a page already known.
Indexing
After a page is visited by the Googlebot or the Google crawler, Google attempts to determine the purpose of a page. Google analyses the page’s content, video and image files, and attempts to understand it. This data is stored in the Google Index, which is a large database that’s stored on many computers. This process is called indexing. While a majority of the pages are crawled before indexing, Google may also index pages without accessing their content (for example, if a page is blocked by a robots.txt directive).
Serving Search Results (and ranking)
When a user searches for a particular query, Google attempts to locate the most relevant answer from its index based on many ranking factors. Google tries to provide its users the highest quality answer by considering factors such as the language, location, type of device used and previous queries.

Which Is The Best PostgreSQL GUI? 2021 Comparison
PostgreSQL graphical user interface (GUI) tools help open source database users to manage, manipulate, and visualize their data. In this post, we discuss the top 6 GUI tools for administering your PostgreSQL hosting deployments. PostgreSQL is the fourth most popular database management system in the world, and heavily used in all sizes of applications from small to large. The traditional method to work with databases is using the command-line interface (CLI) tool, however, this interface presents a number of issues:
It requires a big learning curve to get the best out of the DBMS.
Console display may not be something of your liking, and it only gives very little information at a time.
It is difficult to browse databases and tables, check indexes, and monitor databases through the console.
Many still prefer CLIs over GUIs, but this set is ever so shrinking. I believe anyone who comes into programming after 2010 will tell you GUI tools increase their productivity over a CLI solution.
Why Use a GUI Tool?
Now that we understand the issues users face with the CLI, let’s take a look at the advantages of using a PostgreSQL GUI:
Shortcut keys make it easier to use, and much easier to learn for new users.
Offers great visualization to help you interpret your data.
You can remotely access and navigate another database server.
The window-based interface makes it much easier to manage your PostgreSQL data.
Easier access to files, features, and the operating system.
So, bottom line, GUI tools make PostgreSQL developers’ lives easier.
Top PostgreSQL GUI Tools
Today I will tell you about the 6 best PostgreSQL GUI tools. If you want a quick overview of this article, feel free to check out our infographic at the end of this post. Let’s start with the first and most popular one.
1. pgAdmin
Tumblr media
pgAdmin is the de facto GUI tool for PostgreSQL, and the first tool anyone would use for PostgreSQL. It supports all PostgreSQL operations and features while being free and open source. pgAdmin is used by both novice and seasoned DBAs and developers for database administration.
Here are some of the top reasons why PostgreSQL users love pgAdmin:
Create, view and edit on all common PostgreSQL objects.
Offers a graphical query planning tool with color syntax highlighting.
The dashboard lets you monitor server activities such as database locks, connected sessions, and prepared transactions.
Since pgAdmin is a web application, you can deploy it on any server and access it remotely.
pgAdmin UI consists of detachable panels that you can arrange according to your likings.
Provides a procedural language debugger to help you debug your code.
pgAdmin has a portable version which can help you easily move your data between machines.
There are several cons of pgAdmin that users have generally complained about:
The UI is slow and non-intuitive compared to paid GUI tools.
pgAdmin uses too many resources.
pgAdmin can be used on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. We listed it first as it’s the most used GUI tool for PostgreSQL, and the only native PostgreSQL GUI tool in our list. As it’s dedicated exclusively to PostgreSQL, you can expect it to update with the latest features of each version. pgAdmin can be downloaded from their official website.
pgAdmin Pricing: Free (open source)
2. DBeaver
Tumblr media
DBeaver is a major cross-platform GUI tool for PostgreSQL that both developers and database administrators love. DBeaver is not a native GUI tool for PostgreSQL, as it supports all the popular databases like MySQL, MariaDB, Sybase, SQLite, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, MS Access, Firebird, Teradata, Apache Hive, Phoenix, Presto, and Derby – any database which has a JDBC driver (over 80 databases!).
Here are some of the top DBeaver GUI features for PostgreSQL:
Visual Query builder helps you to construct complex SQL queries without actual knowledge of SQL.
It has one of the best editors – multiple data views are available to support a variety of user needs.
Convenient navigation among data.
In DBeaver, you can generate fake data that looks like real data allowing you to test your systems.
Full-text data search against all chosen tables/views with search results shown as filtered tables/views.
Metadata search among rows in database system tables.
Import and export data with many file formats such as CSV, HTML, XML, JSON, XLS, XLSX.
Provides advanced security for your databases by storing passwords in secured storage protected by a master password.
Automatically generated ER diagrams for a database/schema.
Enterprise Edition provides a special online support system.
One of the cons of DBeaver is it may be slow when dealing with large data sets compared to some expensive GUI tools like Navicat and DataGrip.
You can run DBeaver on Windows, Linux, and macOS, and easily connect DBeaver PostgreSQL with or without SSL. It has a free open-source edition as well an enterprise edition. You can buy the standard license for enterprise edition at $199, or by subscription at $19/month. The free version is good enough for most companies, as many of the DBeaver users will tell you the free edition is better than pgAdmin.
DBeaver Pricing
: Free community, $199 standard license
3. OmniDB
Tumblr media
The next PostgreSQL GUI we’re going to review is OmniDB. OmniDB lets you add, edit, and manage data and all other necessary features in a unified workspace. Although OmniDB supports other database systems like MySQL, Oracle, and MariaDB, their primary target is PostgreSQL. This open source tool is mainly sponsored by 2ndQuadrant. OmniDB supports all three major platforms, namely Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.
There are many reasons why you should use OmniDB for your Postgres developments:
You can easily configure it by adding and removing connections, and leverage encrypted connections when remote connections are necessary.
Smart SQL editor helps you to write SQL codes through autocomplete and syntax highlighting features.
Add-on support available for debugging capabilities to PostgreSQL functions and procedures.
You can monitor the dashboard from customizable charts that show real-time information about your database.
Query plan visualization helps you find bottlenecks in your SQL queries.
It allows access from multiple computers with encrypted personal information.
Developers can add and share new features via plugins.
There are a couple of cons with OmniDB:
OmniDB lacks community support in comparison to pgAdmin and DBeaver. So, you might find it difficult to learn this tool, and could feel a bit alone when you face an issue.
It doesn’t have as many features as paid GUI tools like Navicat and DataGrip.
OmniDB users have favorable opinions about it, and you can download OmniDB for PostgreSQL from here.
OmniDB Pricing: Free (open source)
4. DataGrip
Tumblr media
DataGrip is a cross-platform integrated development environment (IDE) that supports multiple database environments. The most important thing to note about DataGrip is that it’s developed by JetBrains, one of the leading brands for developing IDEs. If you have ever used PhpStorm, IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, WebStorm, you won’t need an introduction on how good JetBrains IDEs are.
There are many exciting features to like in the DataGrip PostgreSQL GUI:
The context-sensitive and schema-aware auto-complete feature suggests more relevant code completions.
It has a beautiful and customizable UI along with an intelligent query console that keeps track of all your activities so you won’t lose your work. Moreover, you can easily add, remove, edit, and clone data rows with its powerful editor.
There are many ways to navigate schema between tables, views, and procedures.
It can immediately detect bugs in your code and suggest the best options to fix them.
It has an advanced refactoring process – when you rename a variable or an object, it can resolve all references automatically.
DataGrip is not just a GUI tool for PostgreSQL, but a full-featured IDE that has features like version control systems.
There are a few cons in DataGrip:
The obvious issue is that it’s not native to PostgreSQL, so it lacks PostgreSQL-specific features. For example, it is not easy to debug errors as not all are able to be shown.
Not only DataGrip, but most JetBrains IDEs have a big learning curve making it a bit overwhelming for beginner developers.
It consumes a lot of resources, like RAM, from your system.
DataGrip supports a tremendous list of database management systems, including SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, SQLite, Azure Database, DB2, H2, MariaDB, Cassandra, HyperSQL, Apache Derby, and many more.
DataGrip supports all three major operating systems, Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. One of the downsides is that JetBrains products are comparatively costly. DataGrip has two different prices for organizations and individuals. DataGrip for Organizations will cost you $19.90/month, or $199 for the first year, $159 for the second year, and $119 for the third year onwards. The individual package will cost you $8.90/month, or $89 for the first year. You can test it out during the free 30 day trial period.
DataGrip Pricing
: $8.90/month to $199/year
5. Navicat
Tumblr media
Navicat is an easy-to-use graphical tool that targets both beginner and experienced developers. It supports several database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB. One of the special features of Navicat is its collaboration with cloud databases like Amazon Redshift, Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, and Huawei Cloud.
Important features of Navicat for Postgres include:
It has a very intuitive and fast UI. You can easily create and edit SQL statements with its visual SQL builder, and the powerful code auto-completion saves you a lot of time and helps you avoid mistakes.
Navicat has a powerful data modeling tool for visualizing database structures, making changes, and designing entire schemas from scratch. You can manipulate almost any database object visually through diagrams.
Navicat can run scheduled jobs and notify you via email when the job is done running.
Navicat is capable of synchronizing different data sources and schemas.
Navicat has an add-on feature (Navicat Cloud) that offers project-based team collaboration.
It establishes secure connections through SSH tunneling and SSL ensuring every connection is secure, stable, and reliable.
You can import and export data to diverse formats like Excel, Access, CSV, and more.
Despite all the good features, there are a few cons that you need to consider before buying Navicat:
The license is locked to a single platform. You need to buy different licenses for PostgreSQL and MySQL. Considering its heavy price, this is a bit difficult for a small company or a freelancer.
It has many features that will take some time for a newbie to get going.
You can use Navicat in Windows, Linux, Mac OS, and iOS environments. The quality of Navicat is endorsed by its world-popular clients, including Apple, Oracle, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Disney, and Adobe. Navicat comes in three editions called enterprise edition, standard edition, and non-commercial edition. Enterprise edition costs you $14.99/month up to $299 for a perpetual license, the standard edition is $9.99/month up to $199 for a perpetual license, and then the non-commercial edition costs $5.99/month up to $119 for its perpetual license. You can get full price details here, and download the Navicat trial version for 14 days from here.
Navicat Pricing
: $5.99/month up to $299/license
6. HeidiSQL
Tumblr media
HeidiSQL is a new addition to our best PostgreSQL GUI tools list in 2021. It is a lightweight, free open source GUI that helps you manage tables, logs and users, edit data, views, procedures and scheduled events, and is continuously enhanced by the active group of contributors. HeidiSQL was initially developed for MySQL, and later added support for MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, SQLite and MariaDB. Invented in 2002 by Ansgar Becker, HeidiSQL aims to be easy to learn and provide the simplest way to connect to a database, fire queries, and see what’s in a database.
Some of the advantages of HeidiSQL for PostgreSQL include:
Connects to multiple servers in one window.
Generates nice SQL-exports, and allows you to export from one server/database directly to another server/database.
Provides a comfortable grid to browse and edit table data, and perform bulk table edits such as move to database, change engine or ollation.
You can write queries with customizable syntax-highlighting and code-completion.
It has an active community helping to support other users and GUI improvements.
Allows you to find specific text in all tables of all databases on a single server, and optimize repair tables in a batch manner.
Provides a dialog for quick grid/data exports to Excel, HTML, JSON, PHP, even LaTeX.
There are a few cons to HeidiSQL:
Does not offer a procedural language debugger to help you debug your code.
Built for Windows, and currently only supports Windows (which is not a con for our Windors readers!)
HeidiSQL does have a lot of bugs, but the author is very attentive and active in addressing issues.
If HeidiSQL is right for you, you can download it here and follow updates on their GitHub page.
HeidiSQL Pricing: Free (open source)
Conclusion
Let’s summarize our top PostgreSQL GUI comparison. Almost everyone starts PostgreSQL with pgAdmin. It has great community support, and there are a lot of resources to help you if you face an issue. Usually, pgAdmin satisfies the needs of many developers to a great extent and thus, most developers do not look for other GUI tools. That’s why pgAdmin remains to be the most popular GUI tool.
If you are looking for an open source solution that has a better UI and visual editor, then DBeaver and OmniDB are great solutions for you. For users looking for a free lightweight GUI that supports multiple database types, HeidiSQL may be right for you. If you are looking for more features than what’s provided by an open source tool, and you’re ready to pay a good price for it, then Navicat and DataGrip are the best GUI products on the market.
Ready for some PostgreSQL automation?
See how you can get your time back with fully managed PostgreSQL hosting. Pricing starts at just $10/month.
While I believe one of these tools should surely support your requirements, there are other popular GUI tools for PostgreSQL that you might like, including Valentina Studio, Adminer, DB visualizer, and SQL workbench. I hope this article will help you decide which GUI tool suits your needs.

Local Landing Page SEO - Breaking It All Down!
What Is Local Landing Page SEO? ďťż
Every business needs a landing page, and there are many ways to get one. The two most popular methods of getting your own customized landing pages are through website design or hiring someone who specializes in this type of service. Landing Pages start with creating an enticing headline that entices readers to explore further; these can be eye-catching images, big bold text headlines, and other strategies like soft-selling the benefits before presenting any details about the product itself as well as providing contact information so people know how they can reach you if necessary after reading what's on offer here today!
What Is The Difference Between A Local Landing Page and A Normal Landing Page?
Tumblr media
Creating Local Landing Pages:
A local landing page is a web page that is optimized in your area. This can be for the state, county, or city you live in and these types of pages are best when optimizing for keywords like "plumber in charleston" instead of just using the keyword "plumber". When adding geographic modifiers to this type of search engine optimization drastically improves rankings on localized searches.
Creating Normal Landing Pages:
Now, let's take the example above and say a landing page is built for the keyword "plumber" and no geographic modifier is added. You might think that the company with a landing page for "plumber" will rank better than one who has set up their site to target Charleston's plumbing market, but Google knows its user is looking specifically for plumbers near them. So who do you think will actually have an edge? The professional here in town or the anonymous business on google?
Tumblr media
How Do Search Engines Handel Local Search Results Differently? ďťż
The internet is a wild and crazy place. Search engines are constantly evolving to keep up with the ever-changing methods of communication, so it should come as no surprise that they have also evolved in how they deliver search results for user queries. Below we will discuss ways in which google handles different types of queries--primarily those related to location or region--specifically focusing on their handling of "local" type requests such as service-based business and local brick and mortar stores among other things.
Google Understands User Search Intent
Google's among other search engines like Yahoo and Bing know that depending on what words or phrases are being searched for, the searcher is looking for someone (or something) local. Someone searching "emergency plumbing service" will show drastically different results from those of a person who searches "how to unclog your sink." One person clearly wants help locally while the other wants educational information so they can handle their own plumbing issues themselves without any assistance.
Tumblr media
More Actions on Google Maps for Local Searches.
More and more google has been adding more features to their maps with the ability to see a list of local establishments in one's area as well as places that are nearby, or popular destinations. This makes it easier for people who want to find a specific type of business in a specific area to be able to find it quickly and easily.
What Makes A Great Local Landing Page?
There are many components needed to make a great landing page that will not just rank well, but convert visitors to high-quality leads.
Page URL Structure
This is the simplest, yet most important step when it comes to ranking in local SEO. A local landing page URL should have the keyword and the geographic modifier in it.
Examples:
www.companyname.com/plumber/charleston
or
www.companyname.com/charleston/plumber
or
www.companyname.com/plumber-in-charleston
Tumblr media
The Page Title Needs To Be Local SEO Optimized
The page title needs to follow needs to be well optimized for local search by following the same rules as above and should have your keyword and geographic modifier in it.
Example:
The Best Plumber In Charleston
Get The H1 Title Tag Right Too!
You should never use more than an H1 Title Tag on your local landing page. Often you can use the same title as the page title or you can add different modifiers at the beginning of the H1 Title Tag.
Optimizing Local Landing Page Content For A Search Engine
The copy should be concise and clear - no redundancies or too many words in one sentence! A lead-generating local landing page needs to have the primary keyword plus secondary keywords plus geographic modifiers throughout the content so keep this in mind as you design yours for your local SEO ranking boost. Write the content with user experience in mind that is engaging relevant to the services or products you offer and keep it location-specific for it to rank high in search.
Business Contact Info Is Very Important!
If you have a physical location where local customers visit your business for goods or services, it is important to list the name of the store along with its address and phone number on an optimized landing page. This will ensure that when Google visits this page, they can cross-reference other sites like Facebook or Yelp so they know not only that it's relevant geographically but also trusted enough by these outside sources in order for them to list accurate information about your product/service without being spammy.
Tumblr media
Eye Catching Call To Actions
If you're wondering what a Call To Action is, think of it as your landing page's most powerful tool. It is the thing that prompts a customer to take action and do something, like buy your product, sign up for more information or download an app or call to schedule a service with your local business.
The best call to action is eye-catching, concise, and highlights a specific action that is desired.
Call To Actions are usually found at the top of the page or in bigger text than other parts of the content because they draw attention to themselves.
When designing your call to actions keep these best practices in mind:
Use bright colors
Use big text
Use words or phrases that trigger action
Use in multiple places throughout your local landing page
Let Customers Know How To Get In Touch
Customers who find your local landing page in organic results when searching for a city-specific service or place of business need multiple ways to connect you. Make sure to have a phone number, contact form, and a live chat widget. This will almost always lead to higher lead conversions when a client or customer is looking for what your business is offering.
Embed A Relevant Map On Your Landing Page
A map embed is powerful visual enhancements that show your customers where you are located. It's a common misconception that Google Maps will automatically be embedded on all of your local pages, but this isn't the case and it needs to be added manually.
Embed Map Directions On Your Landing Pages
You should always embed driving directions from the center of a city you are targeting on your local landing pages to your location if you have a physical location. This will give you an added boost to your landing page and your Google My Business listing.
Tumblr media
Link Out To Niche Related Authoritative Sites
You should have a list of niche-related websites that you are targeting on your local landing pages. Each page should be linked out to these sites with anchor text to send a signal to Google relating your content to the niche term you are trying to rank for in search. New Paragraph
Link Out To Local Authoritative Sites
If you want to rank in organic search for your local business using location pages for your brick and motor or service area business for lead generation you must link out to local authoritative websites too. This means governmental sites, education, hotels, airports, etc. These will once again send strong local signals back to Google that you service this area.
Embed YouTube Videos On Your Local Landing Pages
Video is also a powerful way to rank your local landing pages in search engine results pages. Embedding videos from YouTube are a great way to power up local landing pages and see even faster local SEO ranking improvements. This is because Google owns YouTube and therefore passes that love on to your location pages. This is something that many digital marketing companies have not capitalized on for their clients. This is a powerful and often overlooked strategy that can help to give your business an edge over competitors.
Tumblr media
Reviews From Trusted Sources
Another must-have for your optimized local landing pages are reviews from your social media accounts, directories, and your Google My Business listing. The more authoritative, local and niche related the better. The more you provide high-quality reviews on your landing pages, the higher that page will rank in Google.
ďťż
To make your reviews even more powerful they should include your keyword and locations where you provided services. When a local customer or client writes relevant reviews about your business this way it will lead to a better user experience, higher ranking in search in multiple areas you service, and in turn bring more traffic to your site overall.
What About Ranking In The Map Section of Google?
If you want to rank higher in Google's map section, it helps to know what kind of ranking your website gets. A Google My Business listing and an optimized website can both help you rank better. If you want to rank in a larger service area that says 5 miles around your office, you need a way for search engines to understand that you service the areas and local landing pages on your site, and citations on other websites are how you do it. Google is now adding services it finds on your website to a companies GMB listing automatically. If they are doing this with the services they find on your website don't you think they are also taking into account the cities listed on these service pages too?
Are Local Landing Pages Really Important?
Yes, they are! If you think for a minute that using some generic service pages on your website and sending backlinks to them will rank them in all your cities and generate you a ton of leads, you will be very disappointed. You want local clients or customers then you need to target local keywords and phrases with your local landing pages.
Tumblr media
Bonus Tip For Ranking?
If you want to really power up your local landing pages you need to get generating user signals to the search engines.  This will tell the engines that people love your services and are actively using them.
So get like shares, comments, links, phone clicks and forms filled out and you will see your pages rank even faster!
Lastly, Do Not Forget About Responsive Design.
Location-based SEO will get you ranked better and faster, but you still need to make sure that your website is fully responsive. It needs to look great on all devices and browsers. More and more clients and customers search the web on their mobile phones so make sure your website rocks no matter the screen size or device!
Conclusion
The most important thing is that you create a landing page for every single city and neighborhood in your area. When it comes to local SEO, the more specific you can be on where people are searching from, the better chance they have of finding what they're looking for. It's worth investing time or money into creating customized localized pages so that when someone searches "pizza near me," Google will know just who they’re talking about! Fire Messages
A (long long long, let's not talk about it) while ago the dear @toughpaperround asked me about my thoughts on fire messages... and here they finally are.
Like most things in Shadowhunters fire messages come in two styles (other examples are portals, swords and runes) because at some point they experienced a random visual makeover. Both designs raise different questions and I'll get to those in a moment. First though it's interesting to note that the appearance of a fire message doesn't seem to depend on whether it's created by a shadowhunter or a warlock. On that note, are other downworlders able to create fire messages as well? Since shadowhunters operate them with their steles and warlocks with magic? I guess seelies should be able to as well since they also have magic (though they seem to prefere their nature-birds-leaves-whispering-on-the-wind way of communication). But what about vampires and werewolves? I don't recall either of thoses species ever sending a fire message on-screen, though it might have been mentioned at some point that one of them did, and I forgot. In any case I find it intriguing/ridiculous that fire messages look the same regardless of who creates them. Angelic energy and demonic magic don't really operate in similar ways so why would their fire messages look alike? Distinctive appearances like with the portals would make more sense.
Moving on to the first style! As far as I remember this style can only be spied once in the series, namely at the end of 1x06 when Izzy breaks things off with Meliorn
Tumblr media
Which, now that I'm thinking about it, isn't that the shadow world equivalent of breaking up via text? Rude, Izzy. Anyway! The rune she draws at the bottom of the paper
Tumblr media
is, as the trained eye immediately sees
Tumblr media
Next, the paper goes up in flames
Tumblr media
and Izzy lets go of it so she doesn't burn her fingers. Not a trace of the paper is left afterwards.
I think it's pretty safe to assume that the fire message burns into existence in midair wherever Meliorn is at this moment in time. Which... is probably the seelie realm? So can fire messages just travel between realms no big deal? Imagine the possibilities! Asmodeus could be bothering Magnus all day! Lilith could be terrorizing all Clave members via fire message harassment! This is hilarious XD
I have questions though! 1) How does the fire message know a) who the recipient is and b) where the recipient is? Canon never addresses or indicates either of those things so there's literally nothing to go off of. Re a): To me it seems most reasonable that the sender focuses on the person they want the message to receive while sending the message off via rune or magic. It's unlikely that writing the name on the paper alone determines the recipient because i) there exist people who share names and ii) you couldn't mention anyone in your fire message without accidentally cc-ing them, which, impractical and awkward. So intent seems the most plausible thing. Which in turn begs the question if you can mass-message people if you think of more than one person while sending? Probably not. In canon Magnus messages each warlock individually about that ritual he wants to try in 3x09. Might have been for courtesy's sake, so he can address every warlock individually with name but seems unlikely since he was under time pressure. Aside from that this would imply miraculous paper replication and physics says no. Re b): No way. This makes no sense whatsoever except when fire message magic is the ultimate omniscient might that can track anyone anytime anywhere. And if that power really existed in the world then how come no one has used it to currupt everything? Surely if you can access this pool of knowledge to send innocent little breakup messages you could find a way to use it for grand evil as well? I find it hard to believe that no one's tried and succeeded so far. Just look at how much effort shadowhunters put into tracking people all the time! They'd be stupid to waste their resources like that if there was a way to instantly-know the whereabouts of someone. Anyway, this is utter bs and just like the hp owls all over again and I simply refuse.
2) Who can you send fire messages to? My knee-jerk answer would be to anyone you know, both personally and more generally in the sense that you are aware of their existence. You focus on them while sending the message, bam, they get it. But. Spam. Spam is a thing. Do you have any idea how much hate mail and general pranks higher-ups would get if they could be (anonymously!) addressed by anyone? Magnus probably had a whole phase where he did nothing but trashtalk shadowhunters who pissed him off XD I read in this post (which is the one toughpaperround sent my way and which I'm kinda answering with this) the possibility that you can only fire message people you've either met in real life before or who you've established some kind of fire-messaging-you-is-okay-connection – kinda like exchanging phone numbers. Everyone has a phone but you can only call someone whose number you have. You can even hand-wave your way through issue b) and claim that the fire message tracks the recipient through that connection and that's how it can find them no matter where they are. I've thought about it for a while and while I think this is the most logical explanation I don't think it makes sense in-universe for how fire messages are used, or for what the purpose of a fire messages really is. Phones are inarguably more practical because you don't need an extra pen and paper to send off a message. So, why would someone use a fire message instead of a phone? Well, either the person you want to reach doesn't have a phone (*cough* Meliorn *cough*) or the message is so important and time-sensitive that you need the other person to know right now and while you can ignore a text or a call, you can lose your phone or it can die, it's kinda difficult to miss a burning piece of paper flying in your face. Fire messages are like extreme emergency phone calls. And for those it would be high-key impractical if you could only send them to someone you have already met previously. (Of course this is just speculation and doesn't even make sense historically since fire messages were around long before phones and likely were the only means of communication then and not just reserved for emergencies (or maybe they were since paper and ink was precious back then?!). And of course determining the nature of a thing by going 'It would be most practical if it was like this' is highly unscientific. Anyway.) Honestly, my personal take on this is still that you can send a fire message to anyone and the show simply ignoring everything that this implies (aka Alec getting at least 10 lewd fire messages per day from secret admirers) because it wasn't relevant to the plot.
Leaving behind questions that apply to fire messages generally this last one is design-specific. 3) To what exactly is the teleportation, that clearly happens here, limited? The paper, the ink. Uh-huh. What if you glue something to the paper? For example, idk, a GPS tracker? Would that allow you to learn the location of the person you messaged? Probably not, or they would have been very stupid not to do that with Valentine. Even if you could only message someone you have met in person and/or established a special fire message connection with there are still enough Circle members around in S1 who surely had his fire message phone number. (Or did he destroy the connection? Can you fire-message-block someone you no longer want any attachments to?) What happens if you fire message someone who's dead? Does the fire message hover over their grave for the rest of eternity? We'll never know. I'll allow that there is special fire message paper and special fire message ink that can teleport. Anything else tacked on would be left behind. Paper and ink could even be extra-charmed so they can pass through dimensions or whatever. Still sounds fake – because i) how would you spell paper so it can pass any ward (Magnus at some point messages Jem who's probably chilling in the Silent City or something) and ii) if there's a way to charm paper and ink so it can be teleported, why limit yourself to those? Why not put that same magic on your GPS tracker and you're ready to go? – but I tried okay. Whatever, special fire message paper and ink grow on special trees in Idris and their special teleportation magic can't be replicated. There, mystery solved.
The second style fire messages acquire is both more and less logically pleasing. It's more logically pleasing because it eliminates the whole teleportation issue since apparently the fire message just flies from sender to recipient but sadly this creates its own set of issues, first of all how tf does the fire message fly from sender to recipient? Does it have eyes? How does it navigate the streets by itself? What about the secrecy the shadow world allegedly tries to uphold? It also doesn't solve the GPS tracker problem (if anything it makes it worse) because who's stopping you from sending a nice little message to Valentine and then just, following the flying message to his secret hideout?
The journey itself isn't unproblematic either. How quick are those things flying? In 3x06 exactly 54 seconds pass between Magnus sending off his message to Jem and receiving an answer. So in less than a minute the message flew to Jem, he read it, he composed an answer, and it made the way back. No wonder these messages are burning at the edges if they're so quick. (Yes, that was sarcastic.) They also don't seem to slow down when approaching their intended target. Magnus even pushes Clary out of the way because of it.
Tumblr media
This is so confusing. So the fire message can navigate through Magnus's apartment no problem but it would have chopped Clary's head off because she was in the way? Was Magnus just being dramatic? I mean I'd totally buy that on any given day, but the situation was a bit too serious for that especially because it isn't treated as a joke to lighten the mood but just like Magnus casually pulling Clary out of danger because that's what he always does. It makes no sense whatsoever. This also begs another question, since fire messages seem to seek out their target quite vehemently. If you're locked in an air-tight room, could you send a fire message to someone, and the fire message on its pursuit to fulfill its duty could help you create a crack in the walls? Could you actually break out via fire message? What if you grab the paper real tight? Could you fly out of a canyon on a fire message? Now, on to the last part of the fire message's journey: the landing. How. How do you catch something that moves so quickly instead of just swatting it away? In the post I mentioned before someone wrote that catching stuff like that works on auto pilot if you have the practice and I'll just take your word for it... but what if you don't have the practice? Personally I'm shit at catching shit. I'd get smacked in the face by 95% of the fire messages sent my way. And considering the speed and the sharp edges of the fire messages that can't be healthy. My poor face. Why do I say the fire message would slap my face and not docilely settle into my palm? Because that's what I honestly believe. I think if you fail to catch a fire message it just flops in your face and sticks there (that should also wake you up if you're asleep, lol) because I mean, look at those trajectories.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mind that the fire message stays on its initial course even after Magnus / Alec / Izzy moves their hand to a position to catch it. That’s because it wasn't aiming for the hand. It was aiming for the face.
It only gets weirder from here on out.
Remember 3x07? Imogen gets stabbed by Possessed!Jace and uses her last moments to notify Alec of Jace's whereabouts (instead of, y'know, activating her healing rune which takes two seconds, sending the message after and keep on living. SIGH). Fair enough, but the thing is this
Tumblr media
Where's the paper? Where's the ink?
Tumblr media
What is happening? What is she doing there?!
And then-- and then--
Tumblr media
Yeah Alec, I'm as shocked as you are. Where tf did that paper (and presumably ink for writing) come from?! Can shadowhunters suddenly create matter from nothing?? Physics is crying in the corner!! I have so many questions!!

Why is it so critical to build an email list?
Tumblr media
Do you find it difficult to convince your clients or your employer of the importance and feasibility of email marketing?
Even if you understand how persuasive it is, with web-based media highlighting, development hacking, and the vast variety of different common phrases out there, persuading others can be difficult at times.
Email advertising is one of the essential drivers of traffic to this blog and the primary way we speak with our clients.
We reached out to a few of our friends (who turned out to be marketing experts) and asked them to share some of their experiences of how they've used their email lists to grow their businesses and why they're so relevant.
What is the definition of an email list?
An email list is a collection of messages gathered from visitors/clients who may be interested in receiving information, updates, limits, and other insights about your company.
Email records are important because email marketing is the most effective way to connect with customers as compared to other forms of online media. To be honest, you're 6x more likely to get higher navigate rates from messages than from tweets. Similarly, email is far more effective than Facebook or Twitter at attracting new customers.
What is the definition of email list building?
To take advantage of interacting with clients via your incorporated email records, you'll need to work on building an email list.
Building an email list is a demonstration of getting more people to subscribe to your messages. If your landing page has a call to action, that can be used to grow your email list. The more ways you can persuade people to subscribe to your email, the more solid your email list will be.
How would you go about building an email list?
When building an email list, there are a few steps you should follow, which we'll go over in detail below. As previously stated, you must provide guests with more options for subscribing to your email. You can do this in a variety of ways, including:
On each greeting page of your website, use CTAs to entice visitors to buy in.

Images that appear or slide into place across the entirety of your points of arrival
Studies that are planned to spring up while guests are perusing
Use your social media accounts to promote your email bulletin.
Show what guests will miss out on if they sign up for your email list.
Here are a few examples of how companies invite visitors to subscribe to their email lists through their websites and social media accounts:
The most reliable way to handle and update your email list
It's important to keep your email records organized if you want to have a successful email crusade. If you have a large number of email subscribers on your mailing list who aren't opening your messages, your open rate will be poor, which will skew your performance.
Use the following strategies to keep your rundowns in order:
Separation
Division is a method of isolating email records based on personalized preferences. When email supporters went after your email records, you might have prompted them to ask a few questions
As per a new email showcasing research, sectioned messages drive multiple times more income than more general messages.
You can segment their messages based on any personalized information they provided. The following are a few examples of sectioned email records:
Client socioeconomic variables, such as geographic location, age, and sexual orientation
Limits, occasion nuances, and bulletins — client email notification preferences
History can be purchased.
Examine the data in your email list.
Almost all endorsers do on their email is tracked.
You can monitor whether or not clients navigate the links in the email you sent them. In the unlikely event that
it is more likely that they will open your email. It's possible that they'll follow your email if they've communicated with it in any way.

To build a viable and efficient email list and cook your messages to those investigations, keep a close eye on your email list details.
Reconnect with old acquaintances.
Send a re-commitment email to your latent supporters if you see a large number of them in your email list details. It's possible they just needed a break from your messages but aren't looking to stop completely.
Indeed, research shows that reconnecting with old contacts costs about half as much as converting new visitors to email list endorsers.
When we send out another mission, piece of material, or item highlight, email advertising consistently generates 80-90 percent of the traffic to our presentation page. Email helps us to reach out to our audience in a special, personalized way that blog posts and tweets cannot.
We've been building our email list even before we built our item, and it'll continue to be a top priority for Marketing until Google Telepathy arrives.
Email provides advertisers with a creative forum to show that we understand a prospect's problem, that we can have a solution, and that we can do so in a professional manner. Since each email is an opportunity to identify with your leads and demonstrate that you're relevant, our team often reworks messages and autoresponders multiple times to get the phrasing just right."
"Building an email list is critical because it is the most effective way to develop a close relationship with potential clients. You aren't just a public service announcement.
that is there and gone; you're directly in somebody's inbox, where they get other significant correspondence from their work, family, and companions.
Messages stand by in somebody's inbox until they're perused, and when you compose truly helpful messages individuals may allude to them more than once, on the grounds that messages are effectively accessible, as well.
Individuals burn via email in a different way than they do other media, and it now translates to deals faster than other mediums. The more people on your mailing list you have, the more people can see your promotional messages, and every time I send an email, I see an increase in sales.
Furthermore, when you write a text, it is "yours" – you don't have to be worried about a third party changing the rules on you. In comparison, a free service like Facebook might opt to limit your contact with your fans in order to convince advertisers to pay for ads, but you don't have these limits when someone has given you permission to send them valuable messages."
"There are a variety of reasons why compiling a list is important, but I'll focus on one that is well-known right now: Reach.
Today, you're on your way to reaching a norm of 1-2 percent of your Facebook fans, just as a small percentage of your Twitter followers sees one explicit Tweet.
Email isn't ideal either; according to reports, 22% of messages sent end up in the trash or spam files, or are blocked by ISPs. However, this leaves you with a typical message delivery rate of 78 percent.
Your message's life expectancy will be determined by your beneficiary by then, and your email will remain in the Inbox as "uninitiated" before it is remembered.
This explains why you're still getting clicks a few days after you've sent the mission. On the other hand, the lifetime of an online media post can vary from a few hours to a few minutes.
Email is, by far, the most effective means of communication between your image and its audience (or the vast majority of it)."
Finish up
If there is one thing that industry, content, and conversion rate experts all agree on, it is the importance of creating an email list. Don't be the entrepreneur who misses out on attracting new customers, growing your company, and protecting yourself from changes in search and social calculations. Don't be the entrepreneur who regrets not structuring your email list earlier because you didn't use enough email building techniques.
Have you been working on increasing and managing your email list? In certain instances, automating tasks is more convenient, and you can do the same for texts. Consider these ideas for computerized work processes to keep the supporters engaged.

How I Prepare For Major Arcs & Organize My DM Notes, As Well As Just General Narrative Advice!
So, I got a question quite a while back to try out this neat little trend of displaying and explaining away how I prepare for a session, as well as show how i organize and utilize my notes as a DM. I’m going to be using my upcoming, work-in-progress arc, “Nightingale”, as a visual reference throughout the post.
So, I know i’ve released my DM’s notes on worldanvil before, but I gotta admit that the platform I most like to use for notes and plot setup is always OneNote, which I have for free via my college. It’s versatile, organized, and easy to navigate on any platform (even my phone!). So if you can get your hands on it, I highly recommend it.
PART ONE -- THE MAIN PAGE OF CENTRAL INFORMATION
What I like to do first, is create a central tab of navigation, the first thing that will pop up when I open my fresh set of notes! Things I like to include in that main tab would be any of the following:
Format Key
This will come in handy later, but essentially I have a key to differentiating different types of text throughout my notes and it looks like this (note: your notes DON’T have to look like this, but I recommend having a specific format for all these types of text to help keep you organized):
Tumblr media
Reference Links
This is to link to articles I have on world anvil with more detailed information
Settings
NPC’s
Organizations/Factions
Misc.
Plot Setup/Brainstorming
This is helpful to get you started on your overarching plot! Be as messy as you want and DON’T DELETE ANYTHING, even if you think it’s stupid. All brainstorming is good brainstorming.
Objective
Themes
Relevant History
Hooks
Encounters
Small Outline of Main Questline
Reputation Points
I like, especially for big cities with lots of factions and NPC’s, to keep track of reputation and karma with a point system. Every good deed or bad deed, I like to record and assign a certain number of points to add or subtract from the total score of each faction, based off of just how good or bad that act was. This will help decide things in both the conclusion of that arc, as well as the conclusion of my campaign. This way, your actions really do have consequences.
Tumblr media
PART TWO -- BUILDING THE PLOT IN ACTS
So I believe it is pertinent to keep things simple when it comes to notes, especially when it comes to major arcs where your players have a lot of freedom and you need to do a lot of writing in order to allow that freedom. So i like to build in 4 acts, each of them being dedicated to its own special needs. You can add however many acts as you might need, but this is just a base line!
Act One: The Introduction
Act Two: Exploration/Information Gathering
Act Three: The Rising Action
Act Four: The Conclusion/The Climax
To add onto this, I usually put these acts as Major Groups in OneNote, and they look a little like this:
Tumblr media
Act One; Introducing Your Players To The Setting
This, in my opinion, is the most important act of the four. I usually like to send my players into the setting with a BANG! Throw something at them that they don’t expect! An eerie exorcism, a public execution of an old friend, a plague that keeps the party away from public entrances, anything you can think of! The intro should be narrative heavy, not battle-heavy. That will just make your party snore. Give them a reason to fight, a reason to care about this story and its NPCs. Make sure that this first part is your best work, because it sets the story from here on out and will determine if your players are eager to return to the table. Do not forget to set the precedent of your arc’s main plot goal here. If you don’t do it now, it won’t make sense elsewhere. Make the PC’s care right away!
For example, some snippets of my introduction notes look a little bit like this (remember my format key from before? well here it is in use:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Act Two; Exploration/Information Gathering
This is a big one, because this is where the majority of your work will go. This is the part where the players can roam around the setting, getting to know the NPC’s and the environment for themselves and make their own opinions on the current state of affairs wherever they are. I like to get super organized with this part, because it can get VERY hectic while going live. You want to write where you leave room for players to move, but also keep them focused on the task at hand. So whatever dialogue or side quests you introduce in exploration, keep it brief and drawing back to the central plot line at hand.
I will expand more on this in PART 3, because it deserves its own section.
Act Three; The Rising Action
Yes, just like your english teacher taught you in 6th grade, there has to be a Rising Action in your plot line! This is self explanatory, it might seem. But this is the hardest part about writing up a plot line for D&D, because you never know how your players are going to change the plot. So keep things loose and relative, allowing for wiggle room and improvisation. But still, have a decent chunk of the plot ready to go in this act, because this will be the majority of your plot and usually where the information gathering from act two will start to come in handy. Things need to start coming to a head towards the end of this act, or else you’ll be stuck with a very unsatisfactory conclusion. Another helpful tip during this act, is to write down EVERY, and I mean EVERY SINGLE LITTLE question your players might have. Figure out an answer to all of them, even if the answer is “you’ll find out later”.
Act Four; The Conclusion/The Climax
This is the end. The part of your story where everything starts to come together into a full circle! You need to be prepared to answer all those questions your players had during act three, in one form or another. There’s nothing worse than ending an arc finding that there were a million plot holes that didn’t get accounted for. So prepare, prepare, prepare for this final act. On top of that, prepare for several outcomes on top of that! Don’t be afraid to change the ending on the fly, just make sure you answer those questions somehow--be it out right, or implied in the narrative. My best advice is to not write out the ending until you’re at least half way through act three. Because your player’s choices should matter, and should have a major effect on the ending. If they don’t, then whats the point in running a narrative-heavy campaign? This is where my reputation points have come in handy in the past.
PART 3 -- EXPANDING ON EXPLORATION
I wanted to give you guys a taste at how I organize my exploration section. And to be honest with you, it’s fairly to-the-point and straight forward. I’m using a city setting for my example, but I feel like this can apply to any settlement setting to be honest. But I usually like to start with a table of contents as the first page for me to land on when going to my Exploration section. It looks like this, and each link, links exactly to that page on the document so i don’t have to guess at where everything is.
Tumblr media
I also have a page dedicated to general information about the city in my worldanvil, linked on the Reference Links page I mentioned before! But it’s always good to have a central source of information about your settlement when prepping.
Now, let’s take a look at what one of the shops looks like, as that’s most likely going to be the bulk of what you’re writing. We’re gonna start with my shop “Dagna’s General Goods Store”, which is simple enough. Here, you can see all the pages I have for this location:
Tumblr media
These are specific to a certain encounter, but to put it in a more general sense, this is how I would organize any relevant location in a settlement:
Introduction
I like to introduce my players to the outside and inside of every establishment in my settlements. So, narrative of the outside... and then a narrative of the inside. For example, this one looks like this:
Tumblr media
Then, from there, I can dive into whatever introducing encounters I may have planned for that shop on the same page. This is just to give the players an impression. I continue for this page like this:
Tumblr media
I like to put in brackets before voicing a new character, how their voice may sound. But that’s just me!
The NPC(s)
Always have a page for NPC’s relative to the establishment! I usually like to link to my worldanvil at the top, but sometimes characters are so small that I don’t make them a page. For those instances, I like to write just a little bit about them under the following format:
Appearance
Personality (including voice/accent)
What They Know
Willing to Share
Not Willing to Share (requires skill checks, or otherwise)
I like to keep this brief as possible, because too much text will just overwhelm me when i’m actually DMing live. Don’t make them too complicated, unless they’re major NPC’s, otherwise you will suffer.
Whats For Sale
Self explanatory, especially for shops. If the establishment sells things, I like to take screenshots from the books and place them in this page. Or I make tables myself! Cause OneNote can do that lmao.
General Information
I like to split this up into three categories:
Schedules
What time does the establishment open and close? When is the owner there? When does the owner go to bed? Is there anything the people living there do at certain times that are of relevance? This all becomes helpful when trying to nail down routines and time tracking.
Points of Interest
Things the players can find! Maybe a secret heirloom, a private letter, or a family tree! Usually these require skill checks to find, but can also just be apart of the apparent environment!
Encounters
Events that happen to the players. This can happen at certain times, or only when the players are currently present! It’s entirely up to you. But don’t equate encounters with battle, encounters are just events, battle or otherwise!
Mine looks kind of like this, though it needs some more fleshing out-- which will come with time as my plot progresses.
Tumblr media
Missions (if applicable)
This can split off into various sub pages, if need be, and may not even be applicable to this specific establishment! But sometimes, you can acquire missions from people and places. I like to write the mission pages in the Establishment or NPC pages that will give them out.
And well, that’s about it! Sorry for the huge post, but it gave me some time to kill, so there you go! LOL Have fun with that, guys.

Ace Attorney: Rise From the Ashes (Day Two, Trial Latter) (part 3)
Wherein I attempt to liveblog a mostly text-based videogame.  The trial continues!  Lunch is over and yet we’re still being fed indigestible statements.
Court has recessed briefly for information-gathering. The clock says it's not even noon, but I feel like we've heard hours’ worth of (mostly untrue) testimony.
Lana has been called to the judge's chambers for reasons unknown.  Ema is realizing just how much of a, what's the polite word, “freewheeler” she's chosen to represent her sister.  But Phoenix is still flailing about when any other defense attorney in this world would have given up, so she'd best appreciate him.
It's the cowboy!  Who pointedly mentions Lana's scarf, which he saw her wearing on the day of the murder.   Since she wasn't wearing it in the photograph taken afterward, presumably the missing muffler is...in the car muffler?  Was she trying to hide something, or give Edgeworth carbon monoxide poisoning?  And just why is Marshall dropping us this helpful hint?
Court resumes with Edgeworth on the verge of some kind of conniption fit.   The judge lists off his symptoms concernedly - oh NO surely you didn't eat one of the lunchboxes, Edgeworth!  I've already been wondering how Angel Starr resisted the urge to give you food poisoning for two years, and that was before you verbally eviscerated her on the witness stand.
...Hello, who's this?
Peach suit, white hair, pink glasses and an avuncular folksy charm.  You. I don't like you.
"Udgey?"  Is that the judge's name, or some sort of twee pig-latin nickname for Judge?  And "Wrighto" and "Worthy".  And he can get away with calling people slightly demeaning and offbeat nicknames, because apparently he's the district chief of police,  Damon Gant.  Phoenix is chastised for not recognizing him, which is probably fair.
Okay, that technique of taking away the dialogue box for several seconds while Gant cocks his head and blinks at us is quite effective.  This, we're silently being told, is a character so powerful they can interrupt the flow of the game itself.
The judge notes that it's been "over two years" since Gant was in the courtroom.  That matches when Angel was fired.   This is all about one case, isn't it?  The case Lana and the victim worked on, the case that got Marshall demoted.
Gant has brought some false sympathy for Edgeworth and also Lana's missing scarf, which was indeed found stuffed in the car muffler.   (So the lunchlady was telling the truth about at least something.)  The scarf was wrapped around a switchblade with a tag on it. So, not a personal possession like Edgeworth's knife, but...an exhibit?  Something from storage? Like, evidence storage?
Edgeworth is justifiably upset that the police investigation didn't notice a scrap of red cloth hanging out of the car muffler inches away from the body.  Gant's initial sheepish admission that "this is embarrassing, even for us"  suddenly turns into that blinking Look again.   I feel like a trap is about to be sprung.
It's the envelope from yesterday, the one delivered by the hapless mailman!  Who told Edgeworth it wasn't related to the case, so he refused to take it.   Ouch.  It is Edgeworth's error, but there's something gleefully malicious about the way  Gant just set him up and then sucker-punched him.  There was no need for this to be a public humiliation.  In fact, it could've been discreetly sorted out before Gant got on the stand.  Or before trial started this morning.
(Why IS he on the stand? He's not a testifying witness. He just kinda...strolled in and took over. )
The judge asks Phoenix to examine the switchblade.  The knife tip is broken off and the blade and handle have bloodstains.    The tag, when I zoom in focus to max, says "S-L 9 2".   As for the envelope, it appears to be an autopsy report on Goodman, and doesn't mention the muffler or switchblade at all.  It also has a much vaguer timeframe than 5:15.
Edgeworth tries to regain face by demanding an explanation about the missed evidence.  This is a bad, bad idea. I could've told you that even before Gant delightedly agrees  to testify.
Gant says the knife is special, but that he can't say how unless a  "connection is proven between the knife and Goodman."   Um. Doesn't the very presence of the knife, deliberately concealed at the crime scene, in itself mean it's not only connected but vital to understanding what happened?  I don't think you should get to withhold that information.
Nor do I think "we were having a bad day" is an acceptable excuse for not investigating the crime scene properly.  Cops get aggressively motivated when one of their own is attacked, everybody knows that.  Or was Goodman some kind of pariah?
...wait.  What???   What Gant's saying is so bizarre I misread it.  There was a SECOND murder, at precisely the same time (and that's an awfully precise time),  at the police department?  "Not officially linked to this case" my aunt Fanny.
And Phoenix isn't supposed to ask about it in cross-examination?  I predict that will last about five seconds, because we're going to press every one of these statements hard enough to extract olive oil.
Starting with the knife.  Both Phoenix and Edgeworth push for more, but Gant refuses.  Can I make a connection that will impress the judge?  My inventory contains a phone, a shoe...and a note found in the trunk of the car that says "6-75 12/2".    Which looks a lot like "2/21 SL-9" if you turn it upside down.
Gant is acting as though this is a circus and he's never seen a clown before, delighted at everything Phoenix and the judge say.    This conveys an impression of total contempt behind a fig leaf of friendliness that can't be questioned.  It's a passive-aggressive masterpiece.  Somewhere in the audience Himemiya Anthy is probably taking notes.
And his facade barely flickers when faced with the memo.  The knife was evidence in a case (duh).  Stolen from the evidence room...and that's it? That's all we get?
Oh, this guy is skilled.   Edgeworth quite reasonably asks why he wasn't told about this impossibly coincidental murder, and Gant promptly insinuates that he's incompetent because he didn't proactively ask.  As though a proper prosecutor would have called the department every day with a checklist of possible events.  Why, I bet you didn't even consider a Godzilla attack contingency, did you?   Tsk tsk.
Gant continues to playfully refuse to give information on this second murder (except that a suspect has been arrested).  He offers to give Phoenix one data  point of his choice: where, how or when.  Apparently this trial has turned into a game show.
We already know when, so I choose where.  And Gant makes a curious distinction.  The crime took place in the evidence room (where the knife came from), but he won't say where the corpse was found.    Was the body moved?  As they say, he is playing a game and it is called silly buggers.   I'm absolutely assuming he is behind both murders (though sadly he can't have committed both, unless something paranormal or very complicated is going on).
Phoenix points out that a knife being stolen from the evidence room and then found at crime A, precisely when crime B is committed in the evidence room, is a pretty "duh" link.  Edgeworth supports by mentioning the note.   Whoever wrote it (Goodman, the murderer, or Lana)  presumably either stole the knife or was investigating its theft.    Even the judge agrees this has to count.  Gant just does his blink thing again.
And says his men took two days to assemble that logic.  In other words, he knew. And he STILL wants to play games.  He'll talk "unofficially", but not reveal the name of the victim.  (Why is that so important?)  When pressed, he offers  another one-data-point choice.   I choose ID number which should be easy to link to a name...although apparently Gant doesn't think so.
Victim ID number: 5842189.   The judge looks expectant.  I have a horrible idea, and check the court record.
Yep. It's Goodman's ID number.
Simultaneous murders of the same victim in different locations? That's an impressive level of silly buggers, chief.  And you didn't want this to come out in the trial? If I didn't already know Lana was innocent by video-game rules, I'd know it now.
Even this doesn't faze Gant.   (I really wanted to see him look thwarted. Damnit.)
Edgeworth keeps on asking "Why didn't I hear about this?"  even though the answer is always "Because Gant has it in for you, and you just gave him another opening to attack."   It's as though he can't quite believe what is happening.
Yep, there's that trap-springing look again.  With the first honest expression I think we've seen on Gant's face so far!  Just for one frame,  a flicker of anger and malice. This time he claims the police department sent Edgeworth all the information in that envelope delivered by Hapless Mailman Meekins, which Edgeworth didn't look at.
Hang on.  That's not even true.  We have that envelope in the court record, and...*scrolls up*...it's an autopsy report on Goodman.   It doesn't say which.  Even if Edgeworth had read it, he would have had no reason to think there was a second crime and victim.   Moreover,  Gant already raked him over the coals for not reading it,  in this same trial session!   No...as the trap unfolds,  Gant seems to be claiming this is an entirely different envelope also delivered by Meekins(?)  It doesn't make sense.
But truth isn't going to matter here.  This is a career-destroying maneuver, and it's uncomfortable to watch.  Edgeworth is helpless under the crushing accusations,  protesting vainly that Gant could have submitted all this evidence  when the trial started.   Well, yes, that's what anyone but your enemy would have done...    The flicker of malice is back as Gant rubs it all in with a technicality about evidence law.
(Ah, this detail might be relevant:  Edgeworth  apparently submitted a list of evidence to be used in the trial, which of course did not include things he didn't know existed.    That flies in the face of all Phoenix Wright games past and present, in which new evidence is produced about every five minutes during trial, this one included.)
This morning's Public Career Assassination, I mean trial,  comes to an end with Gant mentioning the rumors about Edgeworth, and even using his own brief status as a defendant against him.  Edgeworth can do nothing but formally grovel.  He begs for one more day of trial to investigate all this new information.   The judge grants it,of course, but joins in condemning him.
I don't know why Gant wants to get rid of Edgeworth, but it's obvious the plan is to fire him after tomorrow's trial no matter what happens.   The only way to save Edgeworth (and oh yeah, our actual client who's barely been mentioned lately) is to bring Gant down.  I am on board with this.  He's a mean lying stinkyhead and he's smug about it.   Get him, Phoenix!
(Rereading my notes from last time,  I'm remembering the moment when Angel Starr told Edgeworth "I might be able to save you".  Did she know this was coming down? )

Moth Work Intro + False Idol | Writing Update
Hey People of Earth!
Today I thought I’d do a writing update on a project I’ve mentioned a lot in my vlogs but haven’t mentioned as of yet on here! This is a personal ‘passion project’ that I’ve been picking away at since January and have recently taken on as my transition project from Rewired to my next book.
Tumblr media
So yee! MOTH WORK (or ‘boys on a boat’ for those who keep up with the vlogs lols) has been my current project for the last few weeks since finishing REWIRED. I didn’t really mean to expand it as much as I have as it simply started off as a spinoff story of my boys Lonan and Harrison which I write every few months when I’m having a breakdown and need something to cheer me up. :-)
I’ve mentioned a few of these stories in the past (like Fishbowl and Mandarin), though this story is a bit different, as I’ve expanded it quite a lot more than I intended to! If you aren’t super caught up with Rewired, I’d definitely scroll through a few of my last updates so this one will make more sense!
What’s it about?
Moth Work is a FOSTERED spinoff story following Lonan and Harrison (dumb+dumber) at the peak of their relationship. I *was saying* that the plot went loosely as follows: after finding a photograph of a woman in Lonan’s father’s dark room, they set out to find her, HOWEVER, because I never stick to plans, I have yet to follow through with this main plot thread, lol. Vaguely, I’d just say the most important part of this story is their relationship at its most fragile because who is plot I don’t know her.
Moth Work follows the events after REWIRED, and is a bit of a bridge between it and the next book. This makes it kind of hard to explain because a) it’s in a different POV, and b) context, but hopefully that makes sense! In essence: Lonan + Harrison’s relationship is big sad and Harrison tries to make it less big sad and it gets even more big sad.
I’ll share a very quick profile of both of the boys so there’s some context for the following excerpts I’ll share!
Harrison
My boy
Generally very outgoing, tho around Lonan this fizzles. Only wants the best for Lonan despite their history. He’s the ‘main’ narrator of the piece (third limited to him though I’m guilty of head hopping lol), so the work has a softer tone than I’m used to. Though Harrison tries to be a Macho Man, around Lonan he’s most himself--mellow, a lil stupidly romantic, and vulnerable.
Lonan
My problematic son/probably should be cancelled
The “issue” in the relationship loool. He’s emotionally immature and lacks accountability, but because of his past, lacks the ability to recognize these faults and work on them. Because of this, he’s fundamentally stayed the same for the last few works he’s been in (if not gotten worse). Lonan requires a lot of emotional assistance, though he isn’t self-aware enough to recognize this. This is often the cause of much conflict.
Conception:
Like I mentioned, I often write short spinoff stories following these boys because it’s a safe happy place for when I’m feeling stressed. This is basically how this piece started, though I’ve continued it for different reasons which I’ll get into. I don’t remember how the first scene was brainstormed, but I do know when I started writing this a few months ago, I wanted it to be a lot longer than my previous stories--a place where I could just dump my writing, even when it wasn’t good. I think I did this to cope with the stress of my writing class honestly, lol, I think I needed a break from ‘serious’ writing AKA a place I could just goof off and have some fun.
The writing bit:
Writing this story has been a bit inconsistent. I’ve been drafting it in little pieces since the beginning of the year, and only recently picked it up as more of a ‘full-time’ work. This is subject to change depending on whether or not I get more of book 7 done. I’ve gone from writing 20 words a day to 0 to 1000--there’s really no consistency with the drafting process here.
I have recently decided that I’ll most likely expand this into either a novella or novel itself because there is literally so much tea left to explore and it’s surpassed 10k words. Drafting Moth Work has been so helpful in easing me back into the world of FOSTERED and piecing together the huge time gap from the end of book 6 to the start of book 7. I’ve been a bit anxious to really dive into book 7 for the fear of the unknown, so inching myself closer to that timeline through this project has been very helpful!
The editing bit:
I recently did an edit around the line level for this entire piece (it’s about 12k words right now) because a) it really needed it b) I was losing steam/starting to get embarrassed and c) I needed a refresher of what had happened because je suis tres forgetful. This edit made me feel so much better about the project. It initially started off as a work where the writing didn’t actually matter and this mentality was working until I got so embarrassed of the prose I found it difficult to read through old scenes to refresh myself and thus couldn’t productively draft.
This project isn’t written exactly in my usual style--it’s pretty stripped back and actually reminds me a lot of how my style would’ve been in book 3 had I been a better writer four years ago lol. I think the looser style works for the voice/the story itself but I def wouldn’t categorize this as litfic (what I usually write). Although the prose isn’t very complex, it took me a really long time to get comfortable enough to edit?? But once I got into the rhythm of it a few days ago, I completed the edit fairly quickly, and I’m 100% feeling better about the project overall! Though the prose is still not my top priority I’m not as embarrassed of it currently lols.
I also divided the project into chapters because it was getting pretty long to just be one mass of text. I currently have 3 chapters. This update will cover chapter 1.
Playlist:
Yo this is literally the best part of writing this project, lol, I get to listen to so much different music?? I’ve made a comprehensive playlist for this story with a character by character breakdown (if anyone wants to see that/highlights, let me know!). This playlist pulls from every song from my library, so we span genres and artists like crazy. Nothing But Thieves has been the primary artist for this story (specifically their self-titled album). These songs (all NBT oop) are the most relevant if you want to get the general tone lol (anything with a star has explicitly inspired the project):
Excuse Me*
Honey Whiskey*
Tempt You (Evocatio)*
If I Get High (II)
Gods
Lover, Please Stay*
I Was Just A Kid*
Get Better
Hell, Yeah*
Afterlife
Reset Me
Particles
Sorry
Number 13
Excerpts:
I don’t have *many* because prose hasn’t really been a top priority for this project, but I’ll try to include at least one per scene.
Tumblr media
This is one of the opening paragraphs from chapter one which I’ve titled ‘False Idol’. In short, the chapter follows the boys first attempting to destroy the dark room and then getting distracted and eventually not pulling through after Harrison finds a picture of Ominous Lady.
The chapter’s chronology is wild so we can break it up as follows:
Scene A
The boys enter the dark room with the intention of burning it down
Harrison reaches for his lighter and drops it which prompts him to find the photograph of Ominous Lady
Him and Lonan mildly argue about Ominous Lady until Lonan takes it too seriously and throws a tantrum :-DD
Scene B
Not really a full scene, just a bridge between scene A and C.
Harrison has been waiting for Lonan to return to their campsite for the entire day and he decides to at the very last moment
“hey so i’m unable to apologize for anything but also! cigarette! let’s share it! lungs!”
Scene C
The boys exercising their canoeing skills
This leads us to our first “beat”.
Lonan interrupts Harrison’s peaceful evening by having a mild crisis
This takes place right after the events of Lolita, Lolita (chapter 16 of REWIRED). We then jump back to the fictive present.
This alternates like 5 more times lol then the chapter is done!
The following excerpt describes their entry into the dark room. Don’t know how smart it is to be smoking in a room full of highly flammable material but we out here.
I don’t think she’s particularly special but I also don’t hate her so!! hoping an aesthetic photo will make it read better :’)) I ! don’t ! think ! it does ! but !
Tumblr media
Harrison shoulders the door first, traps it open with the clip of his boot. Dust and streaks of light rake behind him as he pushes through cardboard boxes, mountains of photo paper on the ground. Lonan follows silently, still wearing Harrison’s jacket. Trails of smoke from his cigarette catch in the negatives hanging by the clothespins, chemical peel between the layers of ink. In one hand he tends to his cigarette, and in the next, lugs in the canister of gasoline they found in the cabin’s cellar. As Harrison fumbles for his flashlight, Lonan sets it down by the table so it sloshes like the Pacific.
This is a bit of when Harrison finds the photograph of Ominous Lady:
Tumblr media
He turns the photograph over, and shines the flashlight on it. It’s scratched and developed wrong, little bits of orange obscuring the woman’s face, but it’s very much a woman. A dark bob and bangs in her eyes, jewelry hanging from her septum. Sunshades enough to reflect the European street behind her. The discreet jet of ink on her skin, blues and greens peeking out from under her sleeve. Izzy, he recognizes. Lonan’s mother.
Nudging Lonan with an elbow, “I didn’t know your mom has tattoos.”
Lonan takes the photograph cautiously, holding it by the corners like it’ll burn him. His brow trembles, but it takes him only seconds to say, “That’s not my mom.” He takes the flashlight from Harrison and examines it closer, fingers nimble and tracing the edges. In the grey light of the dark room, he looks nullified. Just a monochromatic hum of chromosomes and skin.
that’s not my MOM
After the boys find the photograph, Lonan gets triggered at Harrison’s suggestion to find the woman (he presumes her to be someone involved with his father) and promptly has a tantrum and exits. This leads us into the next scene where the boys! actually! get! on! boat! In this scene Lonan tries to say sorry for his tantrum by offering Harrison a cigarette (lol) and because Harrison is hopelessly romantic and also hopelessly dumb, says yeeeees sir! They go for a canoe ride on the water. Thought it was going to be sweet, ended up being a shitstorm but!
This paragraph is kind of toast but:
The canoe isn’t hard to get into the water. After a few nudges from the dock into the slow dip of tide, it stabilizes easily. Harrison is convinced it will capsize but Lonan knows it won’t. They take one ore each, and ignore the life jackets at the back of the shed.
The moon is large and mesmerizing. As Harrison and Lonan take turns pushing the canoe into the water, mast first, then its entire belly, it colours them silver. Lonan’s protected the cigarette in the pocket of his shirt. Harrison stares at its faint outline stretched under the fabric. Lonan steps into the canoe first, rocking with the current, and extends a hand for Harrison. He pulls him in and they row until the cabin is the size of a fingernail, the wave steady and dense. Each cut of the paddle feels like plunging a scalpel into flesh and Harrison watches Lonan do it easily. In the distance, the cabin doesn’t look so menacing. Reeve has left the lamp on by the loft, and it glimmers back like an eyeball, effervescent and tiny. Nothing but a reflective penny in the distance.
Here’s some Harrison being lame:
Tumblr media
The water laps at the base of the canoe, and Ris reaches over and touches it like it’s holy. He makes the sign of the cross and it feels perverse, cold water dripping from forehead to chin.
For a while it’s quiet. Just the distant hum of crickets, the slash of the paddle, and the off-chance flash of something in the distance; an animal, a flashlight. Ris tries not to think about Lonan’s dad, like a dead man slithering through the water, following their boat. He picks at a saltine, sucks it between his tongue meditatively. Against the sky, Lonan is backlit and lovely and flecks of his hair peek up from around the jacket’s collar. Harrison wonders if as a child, everyone said he looked just like his father.
On top of lacking accountability, Lonan is also a professional canoeist so he takes over while Harrison eats saltines and reminisces about an encounter they had weeks prior. This leads into the solid chunk of backstory that I weirdly jump in an out of for the entire chapter. :)
Backstory consists of drunk Lonan having a crisis while Harrison tries to have a peaceful evening of taping up his drawings to his bedroom ceiling. The following excerpt describes the moment right after Lonan enters the room.
Harrison’s lips secured around his cigarette, his hand mid-air with packing tape and line drawings of the moon. A tinny country song dribbled through the radio. The minute-meal he’d heat up in the microwave lying forgotten and cold on his desk. Harrison set the pile of drawings down and turned off the music.
“Emily left?” Lonan asked. He kept his face upward, stared clumsily at the ceiling. Harrison watched his eyes trace the new drawings, following the uncalculated pattern.
This paragraph is made up of 5 similes and this is the only reason I’m sharing it :)))):
Lonan has stopped paddling. The canoe sits in the middle of the lake, lifeless, like a bone in the water. He’s turned so Harrison can see him in profile, and Ris can’t tell if it’s relieving or worrying to see his face. Lonan’s jaw is taut, like there are words he wants to say there but can’t. Filling up the hollow bone. He blinks slowly, like he’s trying to re-centre himself, his chest quivering with breaths meant to steady him. The water laps at the base of the canoe, whirling. Dark hair tangles down his cheeks like the fingers of a poltergeist.
I think that’s a pretty good way to end this post lol! How many similes have you put in one paragraph? What’s your record lol this is probably mine!
Hope y’all enjoy the intro to MOTH WORK. I have two other chapters already written which I’ll update on in a separate post! For now I hope you like this more laid back project, let me know what you think!

Anointed - Your New Identity in Christ!
Subject: Your Identity as anointed. How a deeper look at what it means to be anointed can lead you to a deeper relationship with God!
Tumblr media
“But you have been anointed by the Holy One... But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him” (1 John 2:20, 27).
To better understand our identity as anointed, I want to tell you about my recent promotion.
I recently received a promotion at my pest control job. I am still working in the same career. I am still in pest control. But my new position has imposed two significant challenges. Firstly, I have had to completely shift my mindset. I have needed to completely shift my overarching perspective of pest control. While it is still the same business, I cannot view the job anymore as a technician. I have to change my thinking to that of a manager. BIG SHIFT!
Secondly, I have been challenged with new insight into the inner workings of the business. It is like the curtain has been rolled back, and I have been allowed to see what goes on behind the scenes. This insight, or revelation, would not have come without my new position. This promotion has granted me to see things that I would not have otherwise seen.
This little story about my new position is helpful for two reasons: 1) it demonstrates how my new position requires a change of mind, thinking, and overarching perspective. And 2) it illustrates how my understanding of the “inner workings” has been enlightened. You see, too often, we have made teachings about our new position in Christ – our identity – nothing more than positive, biblical confessions or declarations that point to who we are. (And I understand this because, after all, our identity is OUR IDENTITY, Right!?) It seems, though, that the biblical teaching on identity should offer the same insight as my analogy. Our new position in Christ requires the same two challenges. It would be better, more theologically appropriate, if we paused for long enough to ask the question, “what does this gift of identity say, first, about the Giver of the gift? And what responsibility, or demand, does our identity place on us?” In the same way I experienced those two changes, a biblical understanding of our new identity as anointed requires the same. When we seek to ascertain who we are in Christ and everything about our new spiritual position, we must ask “what does our identity say about God, and what does this new position require of me?” Answering these questions will be the focus of our study, today.
(Reference work from Douglas Buckwalter about the Bible’s identity statements being a compendium of early Christian belief. The Bible’s presentation of Christian identity is clearly given to illustrate a revelation about God, His actions toward mankind, and His expectations for how believers are to live. Click here for my full article.)
Before we can answer our questions, we really need to start with “What is anointing? And what was the historical and cultural understanding of anointing with oil?” Anointing (χρῖσμα [chrisma] and χρίω [chriō]) simply means to smear, daub, or rub.
Background
In the ancient middle east, in both pagan and Hebraic practice, anointing was used as a toiletry. “The fierce protracted heat and biting lime dust of Palestine made the oil very soothing to the skin, and it was applied freely to exposed parts of the body, especially to the face” (George B. Eager). In line with this, it was used as a perfuming agent to cover bad odors. The heat and manual labor encouraged the use of anointing as perfume, especially for celebrations and social events (Jacob W. Kapp). The ordinary usage, in short, was that of covering foul odors and perfuming. Also, people would abstain from anointing with these fragrant oils as a form of the morning. All these practices can be seen in the Bible: Deut. 28:40; Ruth 3:3; 2 Sam. 12:20 and 14:2; 2 Chron. 28:15; Ezekiel 16:9; Micah 6:15; Daniel 10: 3. It is very clear from Exodus 30:23-25 that the anointing oil was intentionally made to be fragrant and pleasing to the senses.
As pertains to its religious usage, it was especially used to consecrate “an individual or object… for divine use” (Louis Goldberg). This is evident throughout the Bible. It can be specially noted of the consecration of the tabernacle, and the items therein (Exodus 40:9-11). It was, also, used to consecrate people for divine use. This can be witnessed of Aron and his sons in Exodus 40:12-15. Anointing with oil was used as a symbol of God’s choice to consecrate (or “set apart” for a particular purpose). It is a wonderful and exciting revelation of a God who chooses to use His people for His sacred work.
Similar to the concept of consecration, Anointing with oil was also used as a symbol of inauguration. Anointing in the Old Testament was used to demonstrate God’s choice to elect people to a special office. This sacred practice can be seen in electing kings (1 Samuel 9:16 and 10:1, 1 Kings 1:34, 1 Kings 1:39), prophets (1 Kings 19:16, 1 Chron. 16:22, Psalms 105:15), and priests (Exodus 40:15, Numbers 3:3, Exodus 29:29, Leviticus 16:32, Leviticus 4:3). The anointing of the priests - the high priest especially - was the most common religious practice among the Jews (William Smith). It was a very sacred symbol. It conveyed the revelation of God’s choice for electing a people, or individual, to an office. This was not just a profound revelation of God choosing to use His people for His soteriological agenda, but it was also understood as endowing people with power.
George B. Eager states, “Among the Hebrews, it was believed not only that it effected a transference to the anointed one of something of the holiness and virtue of the deity in whose name and by whose representative the rite was performed, but also that it imparted a special endowment of the spirit of Yahweh.” This understanding can be seen in 1 Samuel 16:13 and Isaiah 61:1.
When John was inspired to write this passage in 1 John 2, He knew the people receiving this revelation would have had these things in mind. Anointing was familiar to them. Very familiar. They would have had the above concepts and practices ingrained upon their hearts and minds because the act of anointing was very culturally relevant to this audience. Although we do not know when 1 John was written, we do know that “It is called ‘general,’ because it was not written and sent to any particular church, or person, and not because it was for the general use of the churches, for so are all the particular epistles but because it was written to the Christians in general, or to the believing Jews in general wherever they were” (John Gill).
The reader’s ancestral and cultural understanding of anointing with oil, and their understanding of the broad (non-specific) target audience, would have had a great impact on their minds and hearts. Firstly, before answering our main question, it is important to note that John would not have known all of those who would have received this Epistle. Whoah! He did not know all of those that would read this inspired Text. It makes one wonder how he could have so confidently declared, “you have been anointed!” He did not know them! But he did know the reality was the Believers’ new identity was established upon their conversion. Upon placing faith in Jesus Christ, the Christian is made new (ref. Eph. 1:13-14 and2 Cor. 5:17). They are given an entirely new identity in Christ. No exceptions. Every single believer is a recipient of God's anointing.
How incredible is it to know that you have been anointed? God has covered you with His Spirit. He has poured over you the oil of empowering so that you may walk as Jesus walked, live as Jesus lived, die as Jesus died, give as Jesus gave. “You have been anointed.” You are just as anointed as any other believer in the Body of Christ. No one is more or less anointed than anyone else. We are equals in the Kingdom of God. We are anointed for His glory!
{The “anointing that you have received,” is written in the Aorist Indicative Active. This demonstrates a single, effective, one-time action. It “states an action that occurs without regard to its duration. It is analogous to a snapshot which captures action at a specific point in time. In the indicative mood, aorist can indicate punctiliar action (happens at a specific point in time) in past” (Precept Austin). This only further intensifies the dramatic work of God, upon salvation, to anoint His people with the Holy Spirit. Reference Isaiah 61:1, Luke 4:18, and Acts 10:38 }

With the cultural, historical, and grammatical information given above, we can answer our question. “what does this say about God, and what does this require of us?”
Theological Implications - what does this say about God?
First, it should be obvious that it reveals a God that covers His people. He is present. He is near. He covers us. God gives the Holy Spirit to his people. Being identified as anointed reveals an Anointer who cares.
The readers of John’s letter would have, no doubt, understood this in terms of the common use for anointing. They would have connected the fact of anointing was used to cover foul odors. They more than likely would have seen this to reveal a God who beautifies. Moreover, this conjures to mind the idea that the Holy Spirit covers the foul stench of our sin. This is incredible! How amazing is it to know that we are covered - and not with a temporary anointing that can be washed off with water. Rather, we are covered with God Himself. God permanently covers those who place their faith in Him. What a good God!
Also, in line with its historical and cultural context, it reveals something about the choice of God. It shows how the Almighty chose to elect us to a particular office. All believers. All those anointed by the Holy Spirit. It highlights the choice of God for the election. It was God’s Choice. It was His desire. It is the plan to elect you to participate with Him in His redemptive plan. Heaven’s prerogative was to partner with the Redeemed to extend the invitation for salvation, hope, life, and love to the world. This reveals a God who calls and qualifies all Believers to a sacred calling. He is not waiting for you to qualify yourself. He is not waiting for you to know your Bible better. He is not waiting for you to get your graduate degree. He is not waiting for you to feel qualified. He chose you! He elected you to be a part of His royal priesthood. The moment you gave your life to the Lord, He anointed you. He chose to ordain you to His great and glorious purposes.
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy” (1 Peter 2:9-10).
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
Going deeper, it shows a God who consecrated you. It demonstrates a God who set you apart for divine use. He made you holy unto Himself. Like when God chose to consecrate the tabernacle with anointing oil, He also consecrated you for sacred use. You have been set apart for service to God. He chose you!
It also presents a God who chose to empower you. It shows that God not only qualifies you to serve Him, it promulgates how God also equips you. In the same way as Jesus was “anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power,” so are you (Acts 10:38). Being that our identity is that of anointed and being in Christ (in the Anointed One), God chose to place “the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isaiah 61:1-4). And again, this choice is seen in Jesus’s statement to the disciples. He declared, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). He chose to call, elect, and empower you.
“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control” ( 2 Tim. 1:7).
Lastly, this reveals another facet of our God. He chose you to take ownership of a particular calling and purpose. He chose to elect you to the office of priestly ambassador, and He chose to give you ownership over it. He places the responsibility upon us to steward our calling. The Old Testament and the New Testament are full of examples of men and women who succeeded and/or failed to steward what God had given them. This includes king Saul, judge Deborah, king David, Samson, king Ahaz, Eli, Eli’s sons, Peter, Paul, and many others. God chose to elect many priests, kings, judges, and prophets who failed to steward the office to which they were called. Many others succeeded. This demonstrates, further, how our identity as anointed reveals the fact of God’s choice to give us ownership of our calling and purpose. God gave us the freedom and responsibility to “walk in a manner worthy of the calling” (Eph. 4:1-7).

This leads us perfectly into our next question…
Practical Expectations - What does this require of me?
First, it requires the refreshing revelation of the fact that God chose you! Understanding our new identity as anointed from a proper cultural framework, we can identify a heavenly expectation. Being anointed of the Holy Spirit tells us that God expects us “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called.” God requires us to “live up to what we have already attained” (Phil. 3:16). Being anointed. Being elected to a special office. Being given a high calling and sacred purpose. Being anointed of God shows us that we are called to serve God and minister God’s love to others. God’s exceptionless expectation for us is that of priestly ambassadors.
“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age’” (Matt. 28:18-20).
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us…” (2 Cor. 5:17-20)
Second, it requires you to take ownership of that to which God has called you. No matter where life has brought you. Wherever you are. Mountain top or valley. Stream or desert. You have been anointed. You have been entrusted by God. Convenient or not, God has elected you and appointed you to an important office. You are called to serve God by sharing Jesus with the world around you. You have been set apart for divine use. No exceptions. Your new identity demonstrates the potent reality of responsibility. God asks that you take ownership of that to which you have been called!
You are anointed wherever you are. You carry the Presence of God with you. Where you are in life is where you have been sent as a priestly ambassador. To your family. To your co-workers. To your boss. To your wife. To your children. To your barista. To your waiter. To your social media following. To your kids. You are to minister the love, grace, and mercy of Jesus Christ everywhere we are.
It doesn’t have to be scary. It doesn’t have to be complicated. This is simply doing good. Sharing your faith. Explaining your hope in the face of trial. Going “out of your way” to pray from someone. Dying to self. Loving as Jesus loved. Living as Jesus lived. Giving as Jesus gave.
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith” (Gal. 6:9-10).

How To Get Google Reviews
Now more than ever it’s important for businesses to get Google reviews. In addition to giving a boost to your business’ visibility there are a number of benefits Google reviews can bring to your business.
Why Are Google Reviews Important?
More Google reviews increase trust and credibility: This might sound strange, but a vast majority of people (84% to be exact) trust online reviews as much as recommendations from family and friends as long as they meet certain criteria like authenticity, is in the right industry, or you have multiple reviews on the same site. Because Google is one of the most used, and most trusted search engines, people are willing to give trust and credibility to Google reviews more than reviews from less trustworthy sources. This means understanding how to get Google reviews is more important than ever.
Google reviews influence purchase decisions: Online Google reviews can be just what a consumer needs to push them from consideration to purchase. A lot of times when consumers are reading Google reviews they are looking for confirmation that they are making the right decision. And positive online reviews can do just that, but the opposite can also be true. If your business has a low star rating or a lot of recent negative Google reviews, customers could be pushed to the competition. Knowing how to get Google reviews and also how to understand what your reviews mean is a big deal. Don’t believe me? A recent survey said that 13% of consumers wouldn’t even consider purchasing from a business with a 1- to 2-star rating.
Google reviews improve local search ranking: One of the biggest benefits that online reviews bring to your business is a boost in local search ranking . This is important because if customers can’t even find your business when they are looking, how can they possibly make a purchase from you. Knowing how to get Google reviews helps with rankings and revenue. The impact of online reviews on your Google Maps listing helps your business stand out from the crowd. More importantly, it means your business is highlighting the fact that you offer a great service, great product and that customers love you.
So how do you get more Google reviews?
Hopefully by now you realize the importance of collecting more Google reviews, but you might be wondering how to get started. Below is a step-by-step process for setting up your Google My Business page and optimizing it to collect online reviews.
Claim your Google Business listing
The first thing you need to do is claim your Google Business listing. This process is easy and straightforward:
Navigate to business.google.com Search for your business by name and address Fill out basic information about your business Submit for verification
Typically Google will send you a post guard within a couple of days with a PIN to finalize the verification process. Google does this to ensure that only the right people have access to update and manage a business listing on Google.
Make your listing look good and stand out
Once you have the ability to update your listing you should put in the effort to make sure it’s attractive and filled with relevant information that will entice searchers to click on your listing. Google reviews themselves help to make your listing stand out and bring real customer feelings to the forefront. At the very minimum you should do the following:
Add relevant information about your business: While you can no-longer update your business description on your Google My Business page, your description can be updated via your G+ page. When you do fill out your business description, it should include all of the information about your business that customers might find relevant. You can include keywords, but make sure you don’t use this field as an opportunity to stuff keywords. Oftentimes, Google views this as spam and your local search ranking could suffer as a result.
Upload high-resolution photos: One thing many businesses neglect to do is upload enough photos to make your listing stand out among the competition. Pictures on your Google My Business listing help tell a visual story about what it’s like to do business with you. Photos on your listing will help you garner more interactions with online searchers as well. Google has found that listings that feature photos receive 42% more requests for driving directions from Google Maps and 35% more clicks through to a business’ website.
Include up-to-date hours of operations: One piece of information customers are looking for when they Google your business is whether or not you are open. Because of this, you should take the time to update your hours of operation whenever a change occurs. It is also important to include any variations that may occur. For example, if you have special holiday hours.
Start collecting more Google reviews and interacting with customers
Once your business listing is claimed and you’ve taken the time to optimize it, now it’s time to start collecting Google reviews and interacting with customers. When it comes to collecting Google reviews, you shouldn’t let them come in organically. You should make a proactive effort to ask all of your customers to write a Google reviews.
We previously mentioned that 70% of consumers would be willing to leave a review for your business if you ask them. What we left out in that state is that 20% of those who said they would leave a review ultimately didn’t. One of the main reasons customers who are more than willing to leave a review fail to do so is sometimes the process can be difficult and cumbersome. They don’t know where to go on Google to leave a review or you send them an email with a link, but there are too many steps and they ultimately bail before actually leaving a review.
To prevent this from happening, you need to make the process as frictionless as possible. This can be accomplished by implementing an online review management platform that streamlines the invitation process and makes it ridiculously easy for your employees to invite customers and for your customers to leave reviews.
A good online review management platform will also utilize text messages as the primary channel for invitations. Doing so can result in a significantly higher response rate and enables you to collect as much as 15x more Google reviews than traditional email based platforms.
Tips to Get More Google reviews
Implementing an online review management platform is a good place to start, but if you really want to see the online reviews roll in you should consider doing the following:
Determine the right timing of the invitation: You know that you need to ask your customer to leave a review, but the problem you run into is it’s not always clear when the best time to invite your customers. In our experience, the best time to ask is when there’s some downtime in the sales process. For example, in the auto industry, a good time might be after the sale is completed and the customer is waiting in finance. Your customer is just going to be sitting there anyway, so why not ask them to leave a review and walk them through the process.
Set the expectation for the review: After you’ve determined the right time to invite the customer, now you can start setting expectations for what you want them to do. When setting expectations, you should let the customer know:
Why online reviews are important for your business
How they will be receiving the invite (text or email)
When they will be receiving the invite
Eliminate barriers: The harder it is for customers to leave reviews, the less likely they will be to leave a one. That’s why you need to make it as easy as possible, and if you’ve implemented an online review management platform as mentioned previously, you’re headed in the right direction.
Paid Reviews: You can use any trusted company to buy Google reviews.
Google reviews should be an integral part of your digital marketing strategy. They help increase your visibility, build trust and credibility with consumers, and help push consumers through every stage of the buyer’s journey. If your business is taking proactive steps to secure reviews, it should see both an increase in traffic to its website as well as to its physical location.

learn how to make 6 figures fast However, many businesses are still obsessed with the old tactics and blindly trust them although they find it difficult to measure their effectiveness, but since they are actions that they can see and touch, they continue to apply them. On the other hand, there are businesses that are applying improved and efficient lead generation tactics which are gaining the maximum advantage of the internet, to achieve incredible results, reinventing the rules of the game. Like many marketers, you may be wondering, which of the most possible lead generation strategies is most effective. But marketing is constantly evolving, which means that new tactics are constantly emerging. Trends are continually changing, which is also true for buyer behavior. By regularly keeping you up-to-date on the latest innovations and technologies, you can optimize your sales tunnel to generate more leads. However, beware: Many marketing professionals spend a great deal of time and resources developing tactics that ultimately turn out to be inappropriate. It is therefore important to bet from the start on a winning strategy, that is to say adapted to your target audience and which will help you to aim higher and higher! Here are efficient lead generation tactics to help you
1. Establish the profile of your target audience User behavior is evolving at the same rate as technological innovations. That's why it's best to study your target audience and create effective personas to learn how to better exploit the weak points as the strengths of your potential buyers.
About these, ask yourself:
• What are their goals? • What issues are they facing? • What are they willing to invest to solve them? • What are their needs in terms of quality and quantity? The secret of a successful lead generation strategy? Do not just answer these questions once and for all. On the contrary, ask them regularly: you will see that the answers will evolve over time and that the time may have come to offer innovative products or special promotions to your customers forever.
2. Blogging While some argue that blogs do not add value but that is not true. It is safe to say that a company and / or organization that does not have a blog, is certainly dead. When you use the blog appropriately and combine it with a social media and SEO strategy, each blog post becomes a perpetual asset generating traffic and leads.
But the most important thing is that the blog allows you to position yourself as the experts in your business. When a potential client starts to explore an inbound path, your blog will provide the answers to their questions and give them  the context to address it better.
3. Build a social community With Facebook having billions of registered users, it would be absurd not to take advantage of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+. Simply having a presence on these sites and interaction with followers can have a very positive impact on the business. However building a community, does not mean just to win fans, it is something much further; called "engagement", that is, people share and comment, in other words, participate. Definitely, building a healthy community of enthusiastic consumers and fans of your brand does not happen overnight. This requires a serious strategy that is created more than anything by listening to customers, rather than imposing things. Here are 4 tips to motivate your community to share positive experiences on social networks:
• Listen carefully to what they talk about your brand. • Find that shared passion and build a dialogue around. • Create content that leads to an experience that keeps them engaged, participate and make them come back for more. • Build trust: Address issues and controversies openly and transparently.
4. Use Influencer An influencer is a person who has the ability to influence their community.
But, why use them?
• They can help you get your message with greater credibility. • Use it with a link between your brand and the community. • Generate a much richer brand experience. • Promote more credible recommendations. Using this technique is recommended especially for launching products or services, launching a brand, promoting a product or service, and events. There are even technological platforms like Fluvip , which automate the process of connecting brands with the most relevant influencers in the world in multiple channels.
5. Video Content According to eMarketer, the average time spent watching digital videos increased from 6 minutes in 2010 to 55 minutes in 2014 in the United States, revealing a growing preference of consumers for content in video format. This is because the video offers the opportunity to create moments that entertain and educate, increasing its authenticity for the viewer. In fact, a report by Unruly found that enjoying a video increases the purchase intention by 97% and the association with the brand by 139% .
The king of content is YouTube. If your plan is to incorporate video content marketing into your lead generation tactics, it is important that you make sure that you are following the following guidelines to achieve optimal success:
• Identify the objectives Whatever you want to achieve from your videos, take the time to define the objectives. It is only through defining the objectives that you can accurately measure if your content marketing strategy in video format has been successful. It is necessary to determine how you will know if you have really succeeded. For example, are you going to define success by the number of times the video is viewed? Or, are you going to measure success based on the number of actions the video receives?
• Define the relevant audience To make sure the video is successful; develop the marketing strategy thinking about the audience you want to call attention to.
• Includes "Calls to action" There are lots of videos with many views, but they fail to produce the desired results because they do not include a call to action. Think about what people want to do when they finish watching the video. In order to achieve the greatest impact, a call to action must be included in both a visual and audible form.
• Distribute the video intelligently Promote your videos through multiple channels, and make sure your videos are optimized for mobile viewing, as more and more users now watch videos from their mobile devices. Video consumption in the coming years will represent 69% of Internet traffic. If this opportunity is used to provide consumers with more information without being invasive, it has an enormous possibility to engage.
6. Join SMS and emails in your campaigns What is emailing for? Not only to keep in touch with your audience, but also to build a relationship with your leads. And while it is true that not all users frequently check their emails but all users read their SMS. Indeed, 95% of messages sent by SMS are read less than three minutes after being sent. Feel free to use this channel for your campaigns.
7. Expand your marketing campaigns For your marketing campaigns, test different strategies. Unify and develop your tactics through different lead generation channels. However, even if you take multiple ways to make yourself heard, remember: • to affirm the unique personality of your brand; • Make consistent choices, consistent with your brand philosophy. In other words, multiply the ways to make yourself known, but while providing a consistent picture of your business ... It is essential to build the trust of your audience!
8. Create quality content Today, on the internet, everything is history of contents. Try to be consistent in your publications. Not only will you gain credibility as an expert, but your rank will grow in the search engines and you will gain more credibility. Be careful though: do not create content just to create content. Strive to provide valuable texts to your target audience. By publishing valuable content that informs, educates and entertain, you will gain the loyalty of your leads. But it will be easier to convert once you have gained their trust.
9. Refine your SEO strategy How, your website is not yet in the first pages of Google? Only 10% of users go beyond the very first pages of results during an online search, hence the importance for your site to access the first ranks.
Today, SEO is both a matter of relevance and authority. To climb the ladder, increasing your traffic will not be enough. You will also need to tell more about your company and products to assert your authority in your field.
10. Think mobile first Nowadays, mobile devices are always faster and more efficient. That's why Smartphone and tablets have become the PCs of most users. It is high time that you adapt to this new state of affairs, by launching a version of your site for mobile. If it's already done, make sure:
• your pages have a suitable design • they promote immediate action by the user. • Participate in offline events
Being visible online is not enough. Your customers see you on the web, of course, but they must also see you physically! Participating in offline events such as trade shows or fairs can help you generate leads from areas of interest hitherto unheard of for you. Some companies, especially older and larger ones, should not be content with the web to get in touch with their partners and customers. They need to be able to associate a face with a name and trust a "real" person.
