HEAD OF FALSE SECURITY MASTERLIST

The elevator would be dead silent if it wasn’t for Connor flicking a quarter between his fingers. You watch out of the corner of your eye as it practically dances across his fingertips, the metal glinting in the harsh, fluorescent light. He flicks it to his other hand, catching it in between the first knuckles of his first two fingers and –

Hank snatches it from him. “You’re startin’ to piss me off with that coin, Connor.”

Connor looks at Hank’s hand, then at the silver elevator doors. “Sorry, Lieutenant.”

You’d laugh and give Connor another quarter to fidget with, but considering the conversation that occurred this morning? You’re not willing to extend that olive branch. You didn’t survive as a Soviet in America by being a goddamn doormat.

The elevator dings and an automated voice rings out. “79th floor.”

As soon as you step out, you clock the amount of CSI agents loitering around. You’re sort of used to them by now, but their coveralls and masks still unnerve you a bit. 

“Hey, Hank,” Chris says. “Officer.”

“Shit, what’s goin’ on here?” Hank looks around. “There was a party and nobody told me about it?”

“Yeah. It’s all over the news, so everybody’s butting their nose in.” Chris sighs and nods towards the door at the end of the hall. “Even the FBI wants a piece of the action.”

“Ah, Christ, now we got the Feds on our back,” Hank groans. “I knew this was gonna be a shitty day.”

“If I wanted to be looked at and talked to like I don’t know English, I would’ve gone back to some Citizenship and Immigration Services building,” you mumble. Hank lets out a laugh mixed with grumbles of agreement.

He turns to Chris. “So what do we got?”

“A group of four androids.” Chris starts walking, and you and Hank follow beside him. You can hear Connor’s footsteps behind you, but you don’t turn to look. “They knew the building, and they were well organized. I’m still trying to figure out how they got this far without being noticed.”

“You check the roof?” Hank asks. 

“Not yet,” Chris says. “They attacked two guards in the hallway. They probably thought the androids were coming to do maintenance. They got taken down before they could react.”

You stop by the desk and look over it. There isn’t anything out of place. Your eyebrows furrow and you continue following Chris into the broadcast room. 

“One of the station employees managed to get away.” Chris glances back at you and Hank. “He’s in shock. Not sure when we’ll be able to talk to him.”

You look over at the wall, which has a paused video of an android. His skin is peeled back, and there’s no defining features besides his mismatched eyes.

“Oh, Officer, Lieutenant,” Chris says. “This is Special Agent Perkins from the FBI. Perkins, Lieutenant Anderson is in charge of investigating for Detroit Police. He’s been paired with a cybersecurity officer to provide a unique perspective on android-related cases.” He gestures at you.

Perkins doesn’t even look at you. Instead, he looks over at Connor. “What’s that?” (He says it like Connor is some breed of ugly dog he’s never seen before instead of something resembling a man.)

“My name is Connor,” Connor says. “I’m the android sent by CyberLife.”

“Androids investigating androids, huh?” Perkins’ eyes find Hank. “You sure you want an android hanging around? After everything that happened?”

“If you don’t mind,” you cut in, “we’ll be having a look around.”

“And a Bolshevik?” Perkins looks you up and down. “Watch your step, comrade. You or your friends fuck up my crime scene, and I’m gunning for your ass.”

Perkins walks away, his hands folded behind his back in faux-politeness.

Once he’s out of earshot, Hank nudges your arm. “What a fuckin’ prick!”

You smile and nudge him back. “I told you those bastards would give me trouble.”

“Have you experienced things like this before, Officer?” Connor asks.

Your lips draw into a discontented sort of-frown. Of course Connor knows your answer. Why the hell would he be asking? You’ve even told him about things like this before, not to mention Gavin’s stellar behavior and comments Connor’s seen pointed towards you. 

“Yeah.” You turn away and opt to look around the crime scene (not that you would be of any use, anyway). A set of footsteps follow – you can tell that it’s Hank by the heaviness.

You come to a stop by the entrance to the roof and lean against the bullet hole-ridden wall, facing the room. Hank crosses his arms and jabs a thumb over his shoulder at Connor.

“What the fuck was that?” He asks. 

“With… him?” You say. You don’t want to call Connor’s attention by saying his name. “He… he was just being an asshole this morning. I tried to talk to him about something serious, but he just deflected it.”

“About what?”

“I…” You swallow, then whisper: “I think he’s deviating.”

“Well…” Hank laughs. “You have a tendency to project emotions onto inanimate objects.”

“Yeah. I know.” You look down and scratch your cheek. “Just… you know how I am. And…”

You look across the room and see Connor talking to an officer. You hold up a hand to keep Hank quiet, then tap just below your ear and nod towards Connor. Hank gets the hint and eavesdrops with you.

“I was on that terrace,” the officer says. “That android that took the little girl hostage? I was shot. You saved me.”

You exchange a glance with Hank, then look back to Connor. He tilts his head to the side, like he’s searching his memory banks.

“I remember you,” Connor eventually says. 

“I could’ve died on that terrace. But you saved my life.” The officer looks away, then back to Connor. “I never thought I’d say this to an android, but… thank you.”

He looks a bit awkward, then nods and walks away. Connor turns and catches your eye, like he knew you were watching. Your eyes fall to the floor.

“Блять,” you mumble. “He saw me. Help me look busy.”

Hank nods to the side. “Let’s go watch the recording. Not like I haven’t seen it a million times already.”

You follow him to the large screen that takes up an entire wall. You extend your left hand towards the console and the wires from your glove slither out and connect with a port. The screen flickers, then plays the end of the video. 

“We ask that you recognize our dignity, our hopes, and our rights. Together, we can live in peace and build a better future, for humans and androids. This message is the hope of a people. You gave us life. And now the time has come for you to give us freedom.”

“Think that’s rA9?” Hank asks from your left.

“Deviants say that rA9 will set them free,” Connor says from your right. You look at him, but he doesn’t look at you. He’s firmly trained on the screen. “This android seems to have that objective.”

You disconnect from the console and return your eyes to the screen. The android has a slight lisp and mismatched eyes. You can’t see any other identifying features. 

Hank looks over at Connor. “D’you see something?”

“I identified its model and serial number,” Connor says. 

But there’s something else there – you know it. It’s telling in the way Connor’s jaw is set, the way he can’t seem to look away from the screen. “Anything else?” 

Connor continues looking forward, then faces you. He does a double-take, like he’s surprised you asked him. 

“No!” He glances at you out of the corner of his eye. “Nothing.”

You look over at Hank with an expression that reads something along the lines of I fucking told you so! You take a step back, and Hank does the same. Connor keeps looking up at the screen.

Then, he quickly turns and walks away into the kitchen. 

“Hank,” you say quietly. 

“I know,” he says. 

You turn to face him and continue speaking softly. “He’s showing signs of deviancy. He has been, for a while now.”

“You think he’s gonna turn?” Hank asks. “Or has he already?”

You glance at the door to the kitchen. You can hear Connor talking to someone inside, but can’t make out anything he’s saying. “I think he’s on the decline. Not quite there yet. Just needs a push.”

“You planning on giving him that push?” Hank asks.

“No.” You turn back to him. “He needs to take that leap on his own.”

You hear a set of footsteps behind you. You look over your shoulder and see one of the station androids walking out of the kitchen. Nothing out of the ordinary. 

But… you swear you can hear someone saying your name. Their voice sounds choked, like they’re struggling just to talk. And when you hear them calling out for Hank, you immediately know something’s wrong. 

You make your way over to the kitchen, moving with a sense of urgency, but not enough to cause alarm. What you see makes your soul land in your heels. 

Connor’s on the floor, struggling and crawling forward. His hands are shaking as he drags himself along. 

You immediately fall to your knees beside him, grabbing his shoulders and pulling at him frantically. “Connor? Connor, what’s happening?”

He chokes out a string of unintelligible words and points to the side. You follow his finger and see a biocomponent. You scramble to pick it up and bring it back to Connor. 

You push Connor onto his back and pull his shirt open, exposing his chest. A faint flicker in your mind tells you, Ou, look at you! Getting all up in that – but you cut it off because now is seriously not the time. 

With a fluid motion, you push and twist the biocomponent back into the gaping hole in the middle of his chest. You really hope you did it right.

Connor’s eyes are still unfocused, staring blankly up at the ceiling. His face twitches, and he comes back to the real world. 

You help him up, Thirium staining your hand and your front as he falls into you. He stumbles away, then catches his footing and darts out of the room.

You follow and watch him bolt down another corridor and shout, “It’s a deviant! Stop it!”

There’s three quick shots, then the sound of a body falling to the ground. 

You turn the corner just in time to see Connor handing a gun back to an FBI agent, holding the barrel so that the agent can grab it by the grip. The agent takes it back, a look of bewilderment on his face. 

When you see Hank trying to get to his feet, you move over and help him. You keep your hands on his shoulders and look him over. “Are you okay? Have you been shot?”

“I’m fine, I’m fine.” He grabs your wrists and pulls your hands away, looking over your shoulder. “Nice shot, Connor.”

You step away from Hank and turn to face Connor. His lips are drawn into a thin line, and he almost looks frustrated. “I wanted it alive.”

“You saved… human lives,” Hank says. He heaves a breath. “You saved my life.”

Connor looks over at him, then walks back into the broadcasting room, buttoning up his shirt as he goes. 

You look down at your hands. They’re stained with Thirium – more often than you’d like these days. You wipe them down your front, which is already stained with it anyway.

You turn and start to follow Connor. “I think he’s going to check the rooftop. I’d like to be with him when he does.”

Hank makes a sound of agreement and trails after you. You’re like two ducklings following after an android mother duck. Once you reach the door to the rooftop, Connor holds it open for you as he passes through, then you hold it open for Hank in turn. 

Hank walks in front of you both, surveying the scene. “They made their way up through the whole building, past all the guards, and jumped off the roof with parachutes. Pretty fuckin’ impressive, I’d say.”

Connor makes his way over to a splatter of blue blood and swipes two fingers through it. You can’t even bring yourself to make a sound of disgust as he samples it.

You have conflicting feelings about Connor. Saving him was an action made in a moment of weakness and panic. You know he’d just come back if he died – or, as he’d put it, shut down. But it doesn’t change that he told you that he’s not alive. That he’s not afraid of anything. That he stepped up to the muzzle of Hank’s gun and practically begged him to prove him wrong and shoot him.

You tear your eyes away from Connor and move over to Hank. He’s looking down at an open duffel bag. 

“How’d they manage to smuggle in a big bag like that?” Hank asks. 

You draw your jacket tighter around yourself. “I’d wager someone brought it in for them.”

“You’re most likely correct,” Connor says. You jump a little at the unexpectedness of his voice, but manage to keep yourself from saying anything aloud. 

“Huh, that’s strange.” Hank gestures down at the duffel. “They planned a perfect operation but got the number of parachutes wrong.”

Connor kneels and pulls the duffel open further. “Unless one of the deviants was left behind.”

He stands and walks off. You watch him, then return your eyes to the snow-covered rooftop. You huff, and your breath mists in the cold. 

“I’m going to have a look around,” you say. Hank nods, and you walk away.

You half-assedly wander around the rooftop, making sure not to get too close to the edge. You look at the air conditioners and the frost that’s built up on them. They’re pumping out cold air in an effort to keep the inside of the building warm. 

Suddenly, a shot rings out. Someone shouts “Take cover!” You dive behind an air conditioner and look to your right. Hank and Connor are hiding behind another one a few feet away.

“You have to stop them!” Connor pleads. “If they destroy it, we won’t learn anything!”

“We can’t save it, it’s too late,” Hank says. “We’ll just get ourselves killed!”

Connor looks over at you, then peeks around the corner of the air conditioner. Before you can command him to stop, he rushes out from behind cover. He vaults over a container and charges the deviant head-on. 

As soon as Connor has him pinned to the wall, the deviant presses the pistol’s muzzle to the soft underside of his chin and fires. Connor stumbles back, just watching as the deviant slumps to the ground. 

Hank comes out of cover first and runs over to Connor. You’re hot on his heels, fighting the proud side of you that shouts at you to stay away from him.

“Connor! Connor, are you alright?” He stands in front of Connor, trying to stay in his line of sight. “Connor?”

“Okay,” Connor mumbles, his voice shaky and quiet.

You move next to Hank, grabbing onto one of Connor’s shoulders. His LED is stuck on red, circling in on itself. His eyes are completely unfocused and he’s stuck in his mind. 

“Connor?” You shake him. “Connor, come back to us. Are you hurt? Did he shoot you?”

“I’m okay,” Connor mutters, his tone the same – scared, soft. 

“Jesus, you scared the shit outta me.” Hank draws away, and it seems all his emotions come crashing down at once. “For fuck’s sake, I told you not to move! Why don’t you ever do what I say?”

“I was connected to its memory.” Connor comes back to the real world, if only a little bit. “When it fired… I felt it die. Like I was dying.”

His eyes turn to yours. “I was scared.”

“Нет, нет.” You draw Connor into a hug on instinct. Your hand finds the back of his neck, guiding him to rest his forehead on your shoulder. “Всё в порядке. Ты здесь. Ты жив.”

His hands wrap around your midsection, unsure and scared. His hands come to rest on the small of your back. They’re shaking.

Fuck, he doesn’t deserve to go through this. Connor’s traumatized now, for god’s sake. He could keep a therapist in business until they retire. 

After a few seconds, you pull back, keeping your hands on Connor’s shoulders. “Are you okay now?”

He draws back and grabs your wrists. He nods, if a little jerkily. “Yes. Thank you.”

As soon as Connor lets go, the noble and proud creature in your belly howls in displeasure, cursing you for being so weak. But it’s not like you couldn’t comfort him! That would be cruel and just reinforce the stereotypes placed upon you – the ones that say you’re grim and stoic and an unfeeling person in general. 

“I saw something in its memory,” Connor says. “A word, painted on a piece of rusty metal… ‘Jericho’.”

You nod. “We should get back to the station. I’d like to have a copy of that for my records.”

When you start to walk, Connor follows.

there was never, ever data to suggest liz cheney neocon shit swayed anyone in a positive direction. never. that was just what dems wanted to happen, because they are neocons. all data showed that harris breaking from biden on gaza would've helped. all data showed she should have promised bigger economic change. but dems valued their own ideological right-wing shift above winning.

we can talk about voters as well. yes, men suck. they don't care about women, minorities, lgbt+ people. but i will never let the democratic party establishment live this down. they're the ones who ran this campaign.

they're going to find ways to blame the left. they always do. they're going to say that they were too woke, they didn't hate trans people enough, latino men are too misogynistic, etc. those are takes i've already started to see. and they're going to try to use all of that to shift even further right.

our job now is to not let them. never let them live this down. never let the democratic party run another center-right, warmonger, pro genocide, anti peace, anti immigration, neocon campaign again. ever. it normalizes republican positions as the "correct" ones. it gives voters a permission structure to see trumpism as "normal." ffs, kamala harris said the border wall was a "good idea."

that is not "bipartisanship." this is capitulation to fascism.

finally, please take care of yourself. i know emotions are high. i know shit sucks, i know nothing good will come from this. but you are one person. you, alone, could not stop this. you need to do everything you can to protect yourself. please stay safe. try to find a community that is accepting and loves you. we must never give up.

but the progressive argument for immigration boils down to magic dirt theory and lying about statistics (to avoid immediately debunking magic dirt theory). literally nothing else to it. it's one of the clearest cases of progressives being 100% wrong

also the "America was built by immigrants" argument is true, and it's a major factor in our prosperity, that we were able to attract so many good people. Immigrants to America invented the best versions of every other country's food! You know why pizza was invented in America and not Italy? Because in Italy every chef is shackled by centuries of traditions dictating everything they do and in America they were able to just go nuts. America is a place where people can do more. America had a bunch of people in it talking to each other and trying shit. More people doing things is better for everyone. Communists think economy is a zero-sum game and they're wrong. More people make more things.

Now obviously a huge part of that is assimilation and the idea of the "melting pot," where all these immigrants contributed to the culture; progressives now are pretty hostile to assimilation and we can't make them stop. A bunch of people with no skills and no desire to actually join the culture are going to be a problem. As much as they keep lying about how the only reason you'd notice that being the belief that Muslims are inherently predatory, Rotherham and the fucking nine or ten other identical stories from various villages show the failure condition: an insular population with no desire to assimilate and who have Magic Ethnicity Points excusing them from scrutiny will start doing terrible shit because nobody's stopping them.

So I think in major part the strength of the progressive argument for more immigration hinges on "how much are you going to do to make this immigration harmful?" But with modern progressives the answer to any such question is "as much as is in our power."

Ellis Island didn't require a bunch of scrutiny and passing a lot of tests. But back then you didn't need to be absolutely legible to the government to function and you didn't have a very powerful political faction devoted to making immigration destructive.

Ultimately we can't make a judgment based on specific information because as with any sort of data that might be useful to progressivism, everyone who could produce or analyze that information is completely untrustworthy. My gut tells me, though, that institutional sclerosis and bloat have probably made the legal immigration process a hugely cumbersome pain that costs too much and dissuades lots of people we'd want while also doing nothing to keep out people we don't want. Building a wall to enforce our own laws about the border instead of making everything worse just to feel self-righteous is obviously good for reasons already covered, but also there's probably a lot of shit we can and should do to make legal immigration easier.

I was thinking about how Alex Hirsch once tweeted smth about how Stan would be swayed by 2016 Trump for a bit before learning he’s racist and bringing the brass knuckles out.

The year was 2016, and the craziest election of dipper’s life was fast approaching. He legally couldn’t vote yet, but that didn’t mean he would be fighting for a blue win! He had a whole plan to get all of gravity falls voting this summer. He really did not want Donald Trump to be president, because that would be really stupid.

Most of the town were great! They welcomed dipper’s impassioned speeches about democracy and the future of American politics and all readily agreed to vote. Even Ford, who had spent 30 years in a portal, agreed to vote.

The problem was Stan.

“Grunkle Stan! What do you mean, you ‘don’t vote’? It’s your democratic right!” Dipper cried. Stan laughed and took a sip from his Pit Cola.

“Look kid, democracy is a scam. I haven’t voted once in my life, and look, I’m doing great!”

“Urhggg Stan!” Dipper said, “we NEED your vote to keep Trump out of the office!”

Stan looked at dipper. “Trump as in Donald trump? The guy from the Apprentice?”

“YES” dipper sighed. “He’s running for president and we HAVE to stop him!”

Stan laughed. “No way, I love that guy! You hear he’s got a golden toilet? What I wouldn’t do to have one of my own…”

“Please grunkle Stan, he’s a total grifter!” Dipper begged.

“I like the sound of that! Maybe I will vote for him!” Said Stan. Dipper looked like he wanted to bash his head against the wall.

“You can’t be serious!” Exclaimed dipper.

“Ain’t he gonna get rid of taxes or something? That’s a great policy, cus I hate taxes.” Said Stan.

“Grunkle Stan, you don’t even pay your taxes. What difference does it make?” Retorted dipper.

“MAYBE it’ll get the IRS off my back.”

“Somehow, I doubt that.” Dipper sighed. “Please don’t vote for him, it’s against your material interests”

“Hang on,” said Stan, “I thought you WANTED me to vote! Ya said it was my ‘demographic right’ or something”

“Yeah, but don’t vote for HIM!” Dipper cried.

“ it’s MY vote, I can do what I want with it”

Dipper clawed his face in frustration. At that moment, Soos walked in, and dipper’s face lit up.

“Soos! My guy! Are you registered to vote?” He said.

“Oh, yeah dude, like totally ready for election day.” Said Soos.

“Don’t bother with him, Soos,” said Stan, “he’s gonna try convince you to vote blue”

Soos chucked. “No worries, dawg,” he said, putting a hand in dippers shoulder, “I always vote blue”

“You do?” Said Stan and Dipper, in unison.

“Why?” Asked Stan.

“Dude, it’s cus like, I don’t want Abuelita to get deported bro.” said Soos. “If she had to go back to Mexico, I’d have to go with her.”

Stan looked confused. “What does Trump as President have to do with ya grandma Gettin’ deported?”

Soos and dipper both stared at him. They explained to Stan that trump’s policies were ‘like kinda racist, dawg’, and that he talked a lot about sending immigrants ‘back to where they came from’.

“WHAT” yelled Stan. “He said WHAT? Who could have seen this coming! The billionaire grifter, being a racist piece of SHIT?? He coulda been a hero!”

Stab slumped back into his seat. “He doesn’t DESERVE his golden Shitter”

Dipper sighed. “I don’t know what you expected, grunkle Stan. Most billionaires are super terrible people.”

Stan stood up, and grabbed Soos by the shoulders. “Listen, Soos” he started, “no matter what, you and Abuelita are staying in gravity falls. If ya need fake birth certificates or something, I know a guy.”

Soos looked at Stan, with a tear in his eye, and gave him a massive bear hug. “You’re the best, Mr Pines.”

That’s when Stan had an Idea. He pulled the boys into a huddle.

“Dipper, Soos. I have a great plan. Bring Wendy, cus we’re going to New York!” 

Soos cheered, and so did dipper, until he stopped to say “wait, but that’s on the other side of the country.”

Ford was sitting at the dining table with Mabel, when he saw Dipper and Stan running out of the house with backpacks.

“Stanley? What are you and dipper doing?”

Stan and dipper stopped, like deer in headlights. Stan yelled “NON-SPECIFIC EXCUSE!”, picked up Dipper, and ran into Soos’ truck.

Ford looked at Mabel. “Should we stop them?” He asked. She shrugged.

“It’s nice to see them bonding.” Mabel answered. “They’ll be fine. Probably.”

The ADL, when faced with a choice between two candidates, a nazi who will let israel get away with whatever war crimes it wants, and a woman who’s not a nazi, has a jewish husband, is a big supporter of the jewish community, and hinted that she maybe, might hold israel accountable for war crimes, decided neither was the best option. Oh, except they also gave an award to the son-in-law of the nazi during that election year. For the fellow jews who see this, ask yourselves, when was the last time you saw the ADL criticize the republican party platform at all? When’s the last time you saw them call out the growing threat of nazism on the far right? When’s the last time you saw them point out the terrifying similarities between action and word of the republican party’s rhetoric towards immigrants and that of the nazi party’s rhetoric to jews? When was the last time the ADL talked abt systemic antisemitism that doesn’t fit their bs narrative of “the left wants all jews dead, while the right says some bad things sometimes but they mean well”. Okay so I have an idea for a fluffy Poly!Lost Boys x Reader Oneshot where whether or not Religious Objects work against vampires entirely depends on what Faith the vampire followed as a human. And yes I know thats a facet from Cassandra Clares Shadowhunters Universe (and perhaps others) but I would love to see it applied to The Lost Boys.

The basic rundown is as follows;

Y/n is a relatively new addition to the Lost Boys pack, having joined up after wandering into their territory (Which for the oneshot we'll say is the Boardwalk and Hudson's Bluff, as well as everything in between) already a full vampire, (If you want to impliment some kind of Fated Mates thing by all means go for it) which was maybe 6-8 months ago. Since then the boys have gotten to know their new packmate (or mate) by a fair amount, the only subject Y/n refuses to talk about is religion. Dwayne suspects some kind of religious trauma, and he's partially correct, but he's under the incorrect assumption that it hasn't been addressed or even acknowledged by Y/n.

Marko and Paul, on the other hand, decide to get a little sneaky, and David, genuinely curious himself, just lets them. Thus begin the subtle shenanigans.

The Terror Twins begin leaving seemingly random religious symbols around the cave, trying to see which ones would have a negative effect on Y/n, but Y/n either doesn't notice them or Marko (who I headcanon as a Jewish/Italian Immigrant because Alex Winter is Jewish. Also because I can 100% envision Marko PARKOURING over walls n' shit to evade Nazi Footsoldiers during the Holocaust and laughing while doing so simply to taunt them. Footnote; I stan the Italian Stallion. If you recognize that from Tumblr you are now my new best friend. No you don't get a choice, have a snack and take a seat) and Paul (who isn't Jewish and thus handled the Jewish Symbols because Marko cannot touch them or he risks burning/injuring himself) forgot to include objects accosiated with a particular religious faith or multiple thereof. Dwayne is off in the corner with this 'disappointed dad friend' aura about him directed towards Marko and Paul's less-than subtle shenanigans. David is (maybe) lounging in his wheelchair, but is watching Y/n just as closely, but leagues more subtly than Marko and Paul (as David is a smooth SOB and not a mildly unsophisticated chaos gremlin like Marko nor a rambunctious golden retriever like Paul.)

Eventually Y/n gets fed up with coming across random religious symbols and very lpudly asks what the hell is going on. Before showing immense amusement in some way at the response they get and confusing the four boys even further and divulging that they're an athiest.

The boys are all stunned, before realization sets in, that explains why Y/n is so good at ignoring religious symbols and can even set foot on Hallowed Ground. They're basically a "perfect predator". Prayer and Religious symbolism wont deter them in the slightest.

Y/n is visibly tense, waiting for the boys to either shun or belittle them for their lack of faith, and getting a vastly different response.

It sounds like you're referring to this post, which you're right, is pretty jarring without the context of the bitter but serious joke being made there.

In the wake of the psychic trauma of the 2016 election and Hillary Clinton's electoral loss to Donald Trump, a librarian named Kristin Garvey came up with the following sign:

Basically saying, "Unlike those people who supported and support Trump, we are reasonable people who have basic human decency and right opinions," and presumably these people vote for the most progressive Democrat they can in every election.

But pretty quickly the sign was mocked and satirized by others, especially on the political Right. On the Left, though, this was often done by noticing how such people tended to also be wealthy white liberals who would suddenly grow very reactionary when an issue moved away from platitudes to something material like greater housing density near them, sending their own children to public schools, or non-carceral government responses to immigrants or visibly homeless people. Even the opening phrase "in this house" tells you that you're talking about a certain kind of person with a certain kind of wealth because to be able to plant a yard sign you both need a yard and have the authority to put something on it, which renters rarely have.

So let's go back to @papasmoke's post, riffing on that:

Now, we may be differing with @/papasmoke here in that "housing de-regulation" in the sense of ending shit like single-family zoning probably is actually a good thing. But the point we'd agree on is that Democrats aren't talking about using the federal government to step up dense, public housing projects like they did in the mid-20th century. It's just, "We're going to solve the problem!" as an applause line.

On the border, Harris is criticizing Trump for not being as strong on "border security" as she will be.

On police, since 2020, the Biden regime, and surely Harris as well, will continue to push for more federal resources for cops around the country. The spigot will be turned on for the publicly-funded thugs doing the attacks on unhoused people but not so much for the unhoused people.

In regards to "Rhodesia 2", of course we have Harris saying this about Israel:

For the USA's own military, Harris says:

As commander in chief, I will ensure America always has the strongest, most lethal fighting force in the world. 

However, Harris does say that at stake is "the freedom to love who you love openly and with pride," which is one of the main clubs Democrats use to tell queer people in particular that if you aren't OK supporting genocide, cops, and imperialism, then you are not a serious or practical person and you deserve whatever the next Trump regime does to you.

All of this was wildly popular to that room full of people, who also chanted "U-S-A" in response to people trying to just get a Palestinian speaker on stage to have their suffering recognized.

There's an old joke about how if you ask a socialist to describe their problems with capitalism, the socialist tells you a long list of problems with capitalism. But if you ask a capitalist the problems with socialism, they just describe the status quo under capitalism.

U.S. politics is like that with progressive voters in particular. If you were to accurately describe the Biden regime's current immigration/border policy or the enabling of Israel's ongoing ethnic cleansing to a liberal in 2017-2020, they would tell you, "That's why the next election is so important to get a Democrat in office."

Then when you look at what Democrats do while in office, yeah, you can argue that it could be worse. Non-Americans shitting on Americans for forming actual human connection on RedNote is wild to me. I'm not on RedNote, personally, but a few friends of mine are. They grew up under similar circumstances to me (as did a lot of Americans). The amount of racism where I live is obscene. I even live in a college town with a lot of Chinese immigrants. However, growing up in a right wing household meant ignoring them and just accepting their services and moving on. We were very vehemently taught to not trust Chinese people and that they were beneath Americans and that they're just as corrupt as their government. My history/social studies classes weren't much better. Heck, one of my friends is literally only a second generation American of Chinese descent and their family is super right wing and anti-Chinese. It's insane. And, yes, obviously we've all interacted with people outside of our countries before. This is the internet. We know how this works. We're not stupid. But a majority of the time it's not blatant that they are unless it's directly pointed out. In the case of RedNote, it's blatantly a Chinese app full of Chinese people. Also, the curiosity is very mutual from what I've seen and have been told. Everyone I've seen talking about it has been incredibly respectful. Breaking down walls and boundaries like this is so important for breaking the cycle of racism fueled by both of our governments. My friend is finally connecting with their heritage too. This is important for so many reasons. If you're mad at people for ending the cycle of ignorance both governments promote, that's a you problem. Like, happy you didn't have to grow up in a toxic environment like that and never had to reevaluate things like this and educate yourself. Shitting on this will discourage growth and stop progress. I keep seeing people blaming third party voters, which even if all those votes went to Harris (which there is no guarantee they were going to) She still wouldn't have won, and I just saw someone on tik tok talk about how people on the left who were critical of Harris and the party were taking the excitement out of voting. They made it clear that they had no intention of trying to get undecided and independent voters on their side, they just wanted republicans. They decided that the road to victory was to shift to the right. They now supported a border wall and deportations, things that would be unimaginable 8 years ago. They touted around ex-republicans that switched over, like Liz Cheney (whose father drove the country into useless wars and left the VP office with 13% approval). They decided that it was more important to adopt right wing framing on issues, then to actually listen to what their voters wanted. They sent fucking Bill Clinton to yell at Michiganders that Palestinians were going to die either way so vote for the other things on the ballot. They agreed with the narrative that illegal migrants are ruining the country with drugs and crime, when they should have been pointing out that the Haitians were here on legal status (and clearly not eating pets that was disgusting that they even allowed for that to be a talking point) that the Venezuelan "gangs" Trump was complaining about were also here legally (by Trump), not gangs, and not terrorizing the city. They did not point out the vast majority of fentanyl and other drugs are brought into the US by US citizens, that illegal immigrants commit way way less crime that natural borne US citizens, and that they pay into taxes much more than they use.

But no, the democratic party decided that they need the republican vote, and could do that by effectively saying "Trump was right". They did the same thing with fracking in Pennsylvania. Fracking in was not Pennsylvanians number 1 issue, not even close and the few people who would vote on that would not all the sudden see Harris as the "Fracking candidate" that would still be Trump.

They ignored popular issues like healthcare and student loan forgiveness, raising the minimum wage and instead championed a tax break for small business owners and a credit for first time home buyers. These things do not help the average american, so many more people are struggling to live off of minimum wage jobs than are small business owners, and the anyone I know who the house credit would have made it possible for them to buy a house could only do so because their parents were also able to chip in.

They also did nothing to earn the young vote. I think they though abortion was enough to carry the youth, but newsflash men don't fucking care about women. they show it time and time again, Trump went on Adin Ross and Joe Rogan (2 of the biggest pieces of shit to exist) and that won him a lot of votes. There were people at the voting booth who said that they voted for Trump because of the Rogan interview. Men were not left behind by the campaign, but Trump and Vance were able to convince them that they were.

No because I'm not even fat and it's just. Reviling to me how ingrained it is in our society. Growing up, every time this girl my age would pass by me and my mom on the sidewalk, my mom would say "she needs to lose weight". And it's true, you can. I have a couple favorites myself. But there's not a lot. People making lists of picrews to try just....don't take fat people into account. They don't even try. On meiker, there is only one page of meikers tagged plus-size, and none of them are popular.

Outside of character creators, you'll often see one body type drawn for characters in artwork. And, if they do draw fat characters, it's usually to charicature someone they don't like. It was actually a comic about an ICE agent that inspired this. The agent was drawn fat and bulky, and (goes without saying) an asshole. A comment below even said (jokingly, of course, because it's supposed to be hilarious) that the comic was unrealistic because the agent wasn't fatter. I wonder how fat immigrants who are suffering under ICE felt about that.

People who draw characters as fat are often mocked by others, either openly or discreetly. In media, if a character is fat, they'll usually be shit on by the narrator itself. They'll often be flat and underdeveloped, and often made the villain.

Fatness is used as an easy way to depict laziness, decadence, and ignorance, especially in art. Wall-E chose to use fatness as a hamfisted metaphor for laziness and excess in consumption. So many other shows do too, and it's a problem. Nobody ever acknowledges it, either. It's just....accepted by most that the ignorant and the lazy will be portrayed as fat.

Plus, fat people often can't talk about their issues online without it being screenshotted to something like r/fatlogic and made a meme, or someone adding something incredibly stupid to their post.

Fat people have all their health issues dismissed at the doctor, blamed on their fatness and their fatness alone. They also have few good clothing choices, because everything is made and suited for skinny people, and God forbid you don't fit into that.

And people objectify them too and treat them as walking sex toys. Chubby chasers are very real, and their "appreciation" harms a lot more than it helps.

Fatphobia is so normalized, and it disgusts me.

The little guy is here!!

So his name is Fionn ó hÉalaighthe (he went by the anglicised surname 'Healy' once he was in Canada but I just wanted to use his actual name at least once), he's 15, and he's an Irish immigrant. He was told he was going to stay with family in Uranium and when he had landed, no one came to pick him up, so he's just wandering around the place with nothing but what's in his bags. He knew his parents applied to a school there before he left, so he usually sleeps in an unlocked classroom in St. Cassian's.

He ends up with the choir because he was getting bullied by the other students and Mischa scares them off (not intentionally, really, it's just that when you're the youngest in the school everyone's kinda scary, and the fact that Mischa is built like a brick wall doesn't help) and Mischa just accidentally "adopts" Fionn because this kid has no one else to talk to. They bond over being foreigners, and song writing: Mischa with his rap songs as Bad Egg, Fionn with his lyre. Fionn really likes Mischa's music; not because of the music itself, he's not really a rap kinda guy, but because of the feeling behind it. He loves the odd love song or two Mischa wrote for Talia the most.

Mischa ends up bringing Fionn into choir one time cos Fionn didn't want to be alone in the school building any longer than he needed to be, and he sort of gets along with the rest of the choir but kind of lingers in the corner of the room and watches them perform rather than participating himself, as he's too scared to sing in front of other people.

His relationships:

Ocean: He is terrified of her. Not only is she a 12th grader, but she's a bossy one too. He has made eye contact with her a whole one time, and he was shitting himself for the like 2 seconds it lasted.

Noel: They haven't really spoken, but Fionn thinks he is just so cool.

Mischa: Would be scared of him under other circumstances, but Mischa is ready to beat up every other 9th grader on Fionn's behalf, so they're on really good terms. Fionn tends to hide behind Mischa when they're in choir because he just doesn't like being perceived. Because there's over a foot between them, it is a pretty successful hiding spot.

Ricky: Not quite friends, but they're incredibly friendly with each other. Fionn can kind of talk to him, as ASL and ISL have some similarities due to their roots in LSF, and if all else fails the alphabets are almost identical. They both got very excited when they found out their sign names (Ricky - the letter "r" drawing out cat whiskers [at least that's my headcanon for his sign name], and Fionn - drawing cat ears on the top of the head) together make a whole cat.

Penny: She waved at him when he joined the choir for the first time, he waved back. That's the only interaction they've had. He really doesn't know what to make of her.

Constance: Was a little scared of Constance, but she made everyone cookies one time and gave him some, and now they're friends. She's the only person he'll speak to outside of the choir, aside from Mischa.

Other OCs: I don't know much about many of the characters here, so I guess this section will be a work-in-progress, but I do know Sam is also an Irish OC in the Uraniumverse so I definitely want them to be friends.

Also: Fionn's full name is Fionnuala, which is a traditional Irish girl's name. He's a trans dude but because he's in an entirely new place with no one who knows him around, he's 100% stealth (or he would be, if he wasn't so short), it's him and his extremely worn out chest binder against the world.

So I recently saw a video that moist critical put out where he explains that US immigration services has denied his esports team the ability to come into the United States twice. And I believe that either most of them or all of them are from Australia. Another first world nation that we are on good terms with. And yet somehow all this going on, all the while Biden's administration admitted to flying over and dropping off at random locations 300,000 plus criminal aliens. And what's even more fun and interesting is the fact that Tyson the company that makes chicken products will be effectively or has effectively laid off American citizens who were born and raised in this country mostly and replacing them with criminal aliens instead.

Do you know why I love leftists? *Clearly that statement dripping with sarcasm*. Because these people want criminal aliens to work in every job position because they think that'll bring about their proper communist Utopia. All of the black and brown people will be servants serving the whites. Weirdly so brilliant and yet the KKK never came up with it. Oh wait sorry that's right the Democrats were the party of the KKK.

But no I just find it funny in a awful way and ridiculous that somehow we've gotten to the point where people from a first world country cannot come here for a short duration of time or potentially stay here with a Visa for a duration of time and yet we can Mass import criminal aliens and drop them off in random undisclosed locations around the United States. Destroying communities with people who do not care about American culture at all. If you want to talk to me about the US immigration system and the asylum program be my guest. But all I'm going to say is this if people from another first world country can't come over here to visit or to compete in a competition or even stay here for a duration of time on a Visa clearly there are some very very very broken things going on.

I really just wish that the leftists would admit that they want this people who are non-white coming to this country to be their servants. I mean they pretty much admit it tongue-in-cheek all the time when they say shit like, "But who will mow our lawns and clean our houses?". And frankly the fact that so many people just don't see the writing on the wall is actually kind of sad.
