#this is a dystopian hell

Hey, I don’t usually make my own posts on here, but I really need to share this information.

If you are an Apple User, please DO NOT SCROLL.

I had a phone call today to move a dentist appointment. It was a simple phone call, moving it from a date I could no longer do, to a later date that would work.

My phone overheard this verbal, VERBAL, conversation and, when I opened my calendar to delete the old date and move it, automatically suggested the exact time and date said over the phone.

This was not written down anywhere, it was the very first thing I did after the phone call ended. It could not have obtained this information anywhere else.

I don’t know what exactly did this, or if it’s something that can even be turned off it settings. I think it may be “Learn From This App” under Siri, or it could be part of an update. If anyone does know or finds out, PLEASE SAY SOMETHING. I’ve tried to search for what it could be but it’s not giving me anything.

Regardless, I will now be looking for a new phone, since this seems like it could only be a blatant misuse of AI. If my phone is listening to my calls, God knows what else it’s listening to. Or even watching me type.

On the edge of tears listening to 1984 by George Orwell (this is my first time reading it) and hearing the words “By 2050, earlier, probably, all real knowledge of oldspeak will have disappeared. I made up my mind last night. Moving into this dystopian hell we will be entering, I will strive to be more like Tank Girl.

Stop apologizing. Stop keeping quiet to keep the peace. Don't listen to the other side. They've said their piece and that's enough out of them. We can be loud too. We can be in your face about how we feel about the current state of affairs.

I have some privileges in life and I plan to abuse them to the fullest extent to show America what happens when people decide human rights are not important anymore. I won't be peaceful about this power transition. I won't be quiet. I will use my voice and every ounce of standing I have to make it known that this is not my president and not my country.

My post about hateful AO3 spam comment bots is barely 2 days old and then I find this in my inbox.

I'm pretty sure this too is a bot, but just in case there's any sort of human being involved in this: I am not interested and do not consent to any of my works being made into NFTs or, while I'm at it, fed into shitty AIs or anything of this sort. If any of you use my works for such purposes, you are doing so against my explicit wishes and without my consent that you need in order for it to be legal. You have been warned.
