I thought I posted this but apparently I didn't. I keep thinking about this interaction.

upd: full disclosure: Astarion dissociates during and after that sex scene. I did not realise that at the time of the posting. It feels like he wants to have fun (or tries to convince himself and act in the usual way), but the trauma runs deep and he's very far away mentally during the act itself. Plus, Halsin's trauma, so it's a complicated and a very multidimensional scene—for both of them.

the brief chase-house exchange in s5e17 drove me positively bonkers. chase demanding a reason why house would want his help to ask his boss to carry out this technically non-urgent but extremely high-risk surgery—pointing out that the puzzle is solved and even with disinhibition the patient will live either way. considering his reaction to the answer i doubt he expected to receive one so. uncharacteristically honest without opposition. and even that wording is underplaying it since we’re talking about gregory house of all people here. the guy where everyone knows is so painfully bad when it comes to being personal and human.

(and we’re also talking about chase. the one who famously takes house’s insanity and apparent lack of empathy in strides. he knows and accepts that house doesn’t care or, at least, doesn’t admit that he does—that little laugh he gave when house remarked about how he has been kissing up his new boss’s ass speaks volumes; but he asked either way and waited for an answer. how he looked up briefly at house in the audience before(?) the surgery???)

i would go on a tangent and be personal about why the three og fellows mean so much to me in terms of exploring house’s willingness to express vulnerability but i’ll control myself. that, or how chase subtly enjoys testing house and seeing the latter somewhat-squirm (and subsequently, inevitably, exposing his human side). i need to pop them like corn.

Lily: “James is a git. He doesn’t know how to get that someone people just don’t like him!” *sees James helping Remus after a full moon* “oh.. well ig he ain’t that bad”

Regulus: “Potter is a rude egotistical man who stole my brother and thinks he’s amazing. Well he’s not.” *mets James in the astronomy tower and James calms his down from his panic attack* “nvm then..”

Barty: “who’s this Gryffindor freak who’s all smiley all the time?” *sees James helping Pandora and Mary get away from a touchy stranger* “well ig his smile ain’t bad so why not show it off ig?”
