Guys, The Office (US) first time watch update!

We just watched 'Goodbye, Michael', and I am a mess 😭🥺

We're such big fans of Holly, and how perfect she is for Michael, so if Michael was going to leave, we were glad his arc was ending with him being happily engaged to Holly 🥹

What I love about The Office (US) is how they have a trend of having big events happen during the season (and not leaving them until the season finale), so 'Michael's Last Dundies' (the musical number singalong for Michael?? 🥹) and 'Goodbye, Michael' were such a double gut punch of emotions 🥺

'Goodbye, Michael' was such an amazing ep! From the fact that Michael was leaving a day earlier, but he let the PPC plan his leaving party, to his list to make sure that he said goodbye to everyone personally? The fact that everyone at the office awarded him his own Dundie for 'World's Best Boss'?

I was doing alright until Dwight read out Michael's letter of recommendation and the paintball fight, and then the tears started.

I love how Jim was the person who not only realised that Michael was leaving early, but also kept his secret. Their scene was the perfect representation of their friendship - in the tough moments, they're there for each other, and there's a real admiration and respect between the two of them 🥹

This line broke me:

Michael taking off the mic pack hit me harder than I expected, and I adored just how cheesy but so wholesome Pam racing to meet Michael was (and how we didn't hear the conversation between them, but only heard it second-hand from Pam).

Yes, I am emotional about a show from years ago, but as someone who works in an office (where something health-related happened to our boss since the beginning of the year which meant that we had to pull together without him to keep the business going until he returned), the shot of Michael taking one last look back to see everyone working as they normally would without knowing what was really happening in that moment hit me so hard. It really feels like the end of an era, and while I am slightly unsure about how the show will continue with a Michael Scott shaped hole in it, that was such a brilliant send-off for him and for Steve Carell 🫡👏🥹💖

I'm jumping off a bridge. Their backstory is so tragic, I can't.

The fact that even Queenie being in the state she was, Kinger still found humanity in her, the fact that he risked his life knowing she could go crazy and attack him just so he could touch her one last time.

And the fact that Queenie allowed him to do it, the fact that she was able to keep control as a abstracted just so she could feel him. Because she loved him and he loved her back and both of them knew her fate, but in that moment, it was just them, their last moment together so both made it work.

This is such a powerful image I want to hug both of them.

You know, now that Athena has gotten pissed off and tried to kill Annabeth, and we know that later Hera is gunning for her as well, they should keep it going

Like by the end of the series we could have Percy "picking a knife fight with every single god" Jackson paralleled by all the gods fistfighting over who gets to personally murder Annabeth.

Wait I've obtained the tarot deck and the Magician card description is SO funny to me because it's actually a very, uh, permissive interpretation, for lack of a better word. I haven't gotten any further reading through this booklet partially because I'm sitting at a bar but also partially because I keep laughing about it. the thing that doesn't make sense to me regarding the "he was putting her career on the line" POV is that there's no previous behavior from abbot that makes that believable to me. abbot faked a teenager's exams (w/o her knowledge) so she could get an abortion, told another doctor said teenager was getting back for the pills and didn't seem to care that robby could very easily find out what he did, reprimanded but immediately praised santos for doing a risky procedure she wasn't allowed to and took every opportunity he got to do procedures the hospital board wouldn't allow on the daily. nothing from his behavior told me he would put someone else's career on the line with something we were shown he's very capable of doing. add that to mohan's arc this season and the possibility of that POV being the case becomes nonexistent to me. it never even crossed my mind before checking what people were saying about the episode. i read it as a joke bc nothing else shown would tell me it wasn't.

comparing it to robby and david's situation: it was Not a surprise how robby reacted after david was proven innocent from the shooting. he was a bit more asshole-ish to how he'd probably react in a normal day, especially after a breakdown, but where he stood on the whole situation was not new. we were shown and told robby could react like that; we were shown and told abbot didn't care about what could happen to him or his career if a patient's health was on the way
