Part 23: The End

And here it is! The end! Leo also gets a night to just.. relax, be him.

I'll leave the sentiment ramble under the cut:

Seeing this comic end saddens me as much as it excites me. I have so much more planned for this account, this fandom (I have a seperated Au in the works), so this is not goodbye.

But this comic brought me to a community that has made my life better. The rottmnt community I've found here is one I wouldn't trade for the world. I love the friends I've made and this space I found where I can enjoy creating again. I made this comic for me, and even here at the end, I still enjoyed making it.

And this isn't quite the end of Two Shades of Blue either! I can't provide a date, but I do want to make an epilogue where Leon goes to see the other turtles again.

Thank you to everyone that has read this and supported me, whether you were here from the beginning or started reading just yesterday, Thank You.

I always feel like 2012 Leo post Season 5 just said “Screw it” and stopped holding his tongue and said whatever came to mind

*Early Morning at the Hamato home and Mikey is rousing everyone for breakfast… with a bugle*

Mikey: *blowing the bugle in the tune of “Reville”* EVERYBODY UP! I MADE BREAKFAST! BE IN THE KITCHEN AT 6 AM SHARP!

Raph, Casey, April, and Donnie: *covering their ears and glaring at Mikey when he blows the bugle directly in their ears as they blearily stumble to the kitchen*

Leo: *rubbing his eyes as comes towards the kitchen*

Mikey: *blows the bugle in Leo’s “ear”*

Leo: *flinching* OW! FUCK!! *glaring at Mikey* You blow that fucking horn again, I swear to god, I will ram that fucking thing up your GODDAMN ASS!!!

Mikey: … *slowly puts the horn down*

Raph: *mostly shocked and mildly amused*

April, Casey, Donnie: … *stare wide-eyed as Leo stumbles into the kitchen for tea*

So everyone talks about how 2012 Leo and Raph’s cain and able type relationship mirrors the dynamic between Shredder and Splinter, but I think there is a better example of this…

Casey Jones and Donatello.

April O’Neil, the girl of their affections, drives them apart because they both have a huge crush on her and she isn’t into it. They see eachother’s as rivals and keep fighting over this girl.

Kinda like how Tang Shen was perused by both Saki and Yoshi… and Saki and Yoshi’s fighting ended with Shen dead and is the whole reason any of the 2012 show even happened.

And I dont think the parallels between their relationship is even intentional- the show pits Raph and Leo against eachother and that’s adressed pretty clearly bit you think Master Splinter would say something about how Donnie’s behavior reminds him of his brother who let obsession drive them apart.

But he doesn’t do that… ever.

So it keeps going on while nobody mentions it.

Donnie constantly stalks April, plans his day around the chance of meeting her, and is extremely jealous because Casey is a creep towards her as well- just in a different way.

Their obsession over April is literally the only reason they dont get along, because in the farmhouse episodes where they’re not focused on April, they genuinely seem to really like eachother. They have similar interests and have great chemistry within their interactions.

But it really makes me wonder that if they started getting along and their thing with April kept going- would their relationship take a turn more like Shredder and Splinter’s relationship did? Would they put the girl they love in danger because they couldn’t have her?

It makes me wonder because 2012 Donnie has always reminded me of Shredder alot. Yeah leo and raph both have similarities to shredder and Splinter- but so does Donnie, just in less obvious way because the show itself overlooks it…

Shredder is smart and cunning and sadistic. Despite his intelligence he lets petty things cloud his judgement and lets vengeance absorb his entire life. And that reminds me alot Of Donnie’s personality.

Casey dosnt really remind me of Splinter. He’s really stupid and arrogant with a temper but in a way thats worse, especially for April😭 girl, run!!

But yeah idk, 2012 was a weird one. It had great potential to flesh out the sibling rivalry alot more than it did😔 2012’s wasted potential always makes me seethe we coulda had so much more but the writing committed sewerslide.

Due to his dad being experimented on by the Kraang, Casey was born with some pretty wonky DNA (leaving him only half human.)

This is the reason behind his immunity to mutagen and the crazy telekinetic mind powers.
