"Calling Out Racists? Help!"

(shout out to the situation sender who's chosen to remain anonymous!)

NOTE: People of color, if you feel that your efforts would be in vain or cause more pain than it's worth, I fully respect not doing it. I've been there, and tbh I usually don't. But white netizens, I expect boots on the ground. Racism festers when no one does anything about it.

So, it's finally happened! You've come face to face with antiblackness in your fandom space. You never thought it could be this bad! Naturally YOU don't condone this behavior, so you take steps to remove yourself from this person.

However! Your friends and other fans are still happily sharing from someone that you KNOW is capable of this. Would they still be comfortable knowing they're yapping amongst racists? And then you wonder- should I tell everyone about them? I mean, surely everyone should know?

Thus we've come to the decision:

The Callout

In my honest opinion, callouts are morally neutral. When used to reveal consistent harmful beliefs, intentions, and behaviors to other people, usually of marginalized identities, I think they're critical. Our safety and humanity matters far more than someone's internet fame. If I can't stop someone from being a racist, I at least don't want their vitriol on my dash, and I ALSO don't want people thinking I agree! Racism shouldn't be tolerated at all, but unfortunately, many an antiblack racist has a popular following and will not be removed. Anything less overt than a slur like the example above is more often than not, not a dealbreaker for many.

On the other hand, when it is maliciously weaponized to drag someone down on nothing but hearsay and rumor, it can be devastating. It has often been used as retaliation against those very same marginalized peoples to shut down discussions of racism and other forms of bigotry. In my opinion, you should not do these sorts of things when you don't have any solid proof or an actual education on what you're talking about. Period.

I say that all to say, be intentional. Use your discernment and some critical thinking.

How Ice Deals With It

Let's say you see something that concerns you. First, you need to pay attention to if other Black fans have noted this person's behavior. Has it been previously noticed, have they seen dogwhistles you've completely missed? Keep in mind as well, antiblackness does not have to come from a white person. Don't let "I'm brown" fool you.

If you're confident: confront the person on the particular issue you've noticed.

‼️‼️‼️ For the maintenance of your mental health, you CANNOT go into this expecting to change someone's mind and behavior. If you do, 9/10 you will face demoralization. You cannot walk into these thinking they care. Most people don't, and will deny the harm of their behavior. It sucks, but it's the truth. Change your perspective. The only goal you need to have is pointing out the harm done, so that this person loses the excuse to be racist out of "ignorance". Once you've spoken up, ball's now in their court.

Confrontation doesn't have to be negative! It can be as simple as "hey, what you said was not okay, here's why, and I hope that you can learn from this to do better for yourself and for your fans." Simple, to the point.

‼️Keep in mind, from Fans of Color: the private confrontation is a sign that we're trying to give you a chance to do right. Everyone's not going to receive that grace, nor do I expect every fan of color to offer it. It might just be up with you and your racism that day. 🤷🏾‍♀️ I would take the chance if offered.‼️

We're going to go two routes here.

1) It works

If it works, then what should come next is 1) a full acknowledgment of the violence and harm, 2) visible steps to ameliorate that harm, and 3) an apology to those harmed.

It doesn't have to be a complex apology (unless the situation itself was that large). But it has to be genuine and the change needs to be seen.

Very often you'll see apologies for antiblackness... To white fans. You cannot apologize for your actions to people who were not harmed by them, because they are not the ones with the right to accept the apology!!!! It's not a real apology. They've just covered for being exposed, is all. Be willing to hold each other accountable!

2) It doesn't work

This might still happen after the "it works", btw! Some people genuinely just want the appearance of progressiveness.

Here's where it gets gritty and you'll experience the most discomfort, I'm just being honest:

They might fucking suck!

They might suck, they might make it a point to share with their followers that you suck, and those same followers might also suck! You know how they sound? Like those people who fought for rapist Brock Turner because "he had a good future and this shouldn't ruin it". Yeah.

Recognize that this backlash you may experience from strangers is not coming just from their need to be entertained, but from a realization that if their fave is antiblack and they agree, then THEY are being antiblack too.

That acute pain you're feeling from this effort- you're now feeling a part of the chronic pain that is being a Black fan! And if you're white, you just temporarily sacrificed your whiteness to defend what was right, and now you are seeing a piece what that whiteness shields you from. Idk how else to put it.

Now what?

Well first, this shouldn't make you go "oh well there's no point in fighting racism bc they're so mean." Why do you want to identify with the people who just acted like that lmao. Antiracism is hard, but the right thing isn't always easy. Stand up and dust yourself off, soldier.

Take the steps to protect yourself. That might be a break from socials to decompress. Block people as necessary, use the tag blocker thing.

Recognize that you are not in the wrong for wanting this harm to be accounted for. If this person didn't want to be seen as a willful racist, they should have chosen to do better. They didn't want to, they chose to triple down on their racism, which they are now aware of doing! They just don't care. And that's not within your control. They wanna be a racist, let them be treated like one!

"Curate your space" as they say, and recognize that antiblackness is going to have you potentially removing folks you thought were cool left and right. You might see some people close to you show their true colors. It's time to make some tough personal decisions. I can't walk you through that. But I don't want to be around people who treat antiblackness with apathy, because birds of a feather... 👀

I obviously didn't cover every single scenario here. And this is only *my* way of dealing with these things (if I do at all, anymore). Some folks may go about it differently. But yeah, in summary, go in to point the racism out, and don't let the response determine your self value. 👍🏾

Downstairs, the intoxicated patrons sang their bawdy songs and shook the walls of the inn. Their lewd rhymes travelled through the dingy floorboards and vanished against your parted lips. 

A hand went up your spine, grazed your shoulders, and stopped on your sweaty neck. 

“Where is it?”

The voice hit the air and sent shivers down your spine. That authoritative tone, those proudly exhaled consonants, those whispered vowels... His words exuded nobility and education and set your whole body ablaze. You closed your eyes for a second and imagined yourself blessed with such gift of the gab, but your sentence fell awkwardly from your bruised lips.

“What do you mean?”

The sticky sheets crumpled under your weight. You squinted to make out the silhouette of your lover. In the moonlight, his hair looked as if it had been woven from the stars. 

“Where is your necklace?" Aemond asked.

Mindlessly, your fingers hit an infinity of naked flesh. You gulped. 

“Oh... Well... I didn't want to wear a beautiful object liked that in Flea Bottom. Thieves are everywhere with the blockade–”

“I gave it to you for you to wear it," he cut you off. 

The pitch-dark night itself could not hide his discontent. 

“I know, my love," you say softly. 

He had been so happy to give it to you. The gold chain and the sapphire still sparkled in your dreams. Sometimes, at night, you would remember Aemond's delicate fingers against your neck, the refreshing coldness of the precious metal on your flesh, its weight against your throat... And then, the sun would tear you from your dreams and the only thing left around your neck would be the knot of your guilt.

“No matter," he finally said. 

Your prince's fingers descended on your chest, brushed against your nipple but did not linger, much to your regret. Aemond got out of bed and left your body cold⏤it was so easy to let yourself be consumed by dragonfire. It burned your heart oh so beautifully. 

Without a word, Aemond bent down and took a packet out of his leather bag. You looked away from his naked body, your cheeks aflame. The many nights you had spent with him, learning the map of his muscles and flesh, had done nothing for your shyness. It died in an explosion of pleasure each night but would always be reborn in the painful awareness left in the vanishing carnal bliss. 

Aemond came back and handed you the gift, one knee resting on the thin mattress. A lump twisted in your throat and rendered you speechless. With a trembling hand, you pulled the ribbon and let the fabric fall to reveal a magnificent dress. 

You closed your eyes for a moment and forced a smile onto your face.

“You shouldn't have," you said through clenched teeth. 

“You say that every time," he laughed. “And you know very well that I will not stop. You deserve to be pampered, my love."

You don't command a nobleman, let alone a Targaryen. Perhaps that was why Aemond kept ignoring your request, for it never changed. Every gift was answered with this phrase. There was no false modesty there, just the familiar, creeping guilt⏤an old enemy coming to torment you. 

“It’s beautiful.”

Your fingers brushed against the blue bodice, where golden threads wove in a fine, expensive, embroidery⏤a huge dragon slumbered in a field of flowers. 

At your words, Aemond smiled brightly and kissed your forehead. His lips left their wet imprint, which you did not wipe away. You would cherish its feeling a little longer. He moved down your cheeks and finally attacked your lips. You groaned and buried your hand in his hair before pressing your chest against his.

“I must go now," he said reluctantly between kisses. 

You stepped back with a sigh and glanced at the window. The hour of the wolf was darkening the sky. Downstairs, the patrons had quietened down. Heavy, awkward footsteps echoed in the corridor and doors slammed. 

At last, the more festive souls were going to bed. 

If you listened carefully, you could hear the bakers already hard at work. The first to rise, they sweetened the dreams of citizens with the sweet and greedy fragrances they distilled in the streets. 

Aemond slumped onto the bed one last time and pulled you in for a last kiss. 

“The next time I see you, I will rip that silk off your body," he smiled before pointing to the discarded dress. 

You nodded, avoiding his gaze, and kissed him one last time. 

Aemond⏤hood falling on his head⏤disappeared with an uttered I love you and left you alone with your guilt. A sigh shook your chest. 

You got dressed and went downstairs, leaving the stains on the linen as the only trace of your love. You absently nodded at Denyse, busy wiping the tables, and set off into the streets of Flea Bottom. 

It would take you a good hour to get to the forge. 

You already longed for your bed on the other side of the town. 

Flea Bottom, for all its faults, provided the discretion you needed to meet your prince every night. It was Aemond who had shown you this little inn after you refused to use the secret passages leading to the Red Keep⏤you would not throw yourself into the dragon's jaws.  

Your feet cursed you, but your heart thanked you for these precious moments⏤away from the reproaches and the forge, the vices of the court and the pressure of power. In this dingy room, the Prince softened and removed his iron mask to reveal the gentle soul hidden behind it, while you forgot the shrill cries that tormented your days. 

It took you longer than usual to reach the Street of Steel. As you passed through the wooden door, the hour of the Nightingale was casting its first rays of sunshine and waking up the workers. 

Your mother was waiting for you, arms crossed and a bucket of water at her feet. 

Without delay, she ripped the dress from your hands and replaced it with the bucket. A few drops splashed onto you, soaking the front of your sweaty tunic. 

“Where did you get that?” her sharp voice asked. “You stole it, didn’t you? How many times do I have to tell you–”

“I didn’t– It's not–”

She cut you off before you could come up with an excuse.

Her fingernails scraped at the embroidery, which held firm. 

“That’s some good work..." she mumbled. “We'll get a few silver stags out of it... Maybe enough to repair the oven. Meredyth? Meredyth! Come downstairs and take this to the weaver next door!”

You held out a shaking hand to try and retrieve the dress, but your mother glared at you. You lowered your head, your eyes wet. Aemond's face appeared in your thoughts and the guilt⏤always there⏤ignited. 

You no longer had the strength to fight the inevitable. Dawn, beautiful as it was, always had its share of disappointments in store for you. Every morning, your prince's gifts were snatched from you without remorse and sold to the nearest merchant. All that remained of your jewels and dresses was a thick leather purse hidden under the floor of your parents' bedroom⏤both took great pleasure in lecturing you about stealing and sinning. 

Your mother could pretend all she wanted to be pious and kind, a good believer with a guiltless conscience, but you knew the truth. She would never go through with her threats, far too happy with the gold dragons piling up under her pillow. 

Your sister ran down the stairs and grabbed the package before examining its contents. 

“Oh, Mum, it's so beautiful…” She took the dress out of its wrapping and pressed it to her chest before twirling around, not minding the dirt on the silk with her ashen fingers. “Can we keep it?”

Your mother scoffed. 

“To do what? You don't need an embroidered dress to forge swords and shoe horses. Why don't you go and see if Claere can take it? And you!" she turned back to you. “Clean the grindstone. You’ll sharpen the commissions next. Corwyn isn't here.”  

The knot tightened around your neck as you nodded and disappeared into the workshop. 

The hours passed. Sweat stuck to your forehead and the sparks from the grindstone bit your fingers. At last⏤to your delight⏤ nine o'clock struck the end of the day. You gave Duncan⏤a golden cloak⏤the dagger he had ordered, pocketed the fifty silver stags and wished him a good evening. 

When he closed the door, you hurried up to your room, washed yourself with the bucket of cold water, put on one of your best dresses and ran to Flea Bottom, ignoring your mother's cries, which faded under the beating of your soles. 

You arrived at the inn out of breath, but happy to be away from home. Denyse greeted you with a wink and watched you stride up the stairs. The steps creaked under your weight, but you did not care. Habit and euphoria carried you to an innocuous door. 

You opened it and a body flung itself against yours. A smile lit up your face. Aemond did not wait and pulled you to the bed. 

As his lips peppered your neck with kisses, his hands slipped under your body and roamed the length of your back. They clung to your dress and sought out the threads of your bodice, but suddenly stopped. You tensed. Gently, Aemond straightened up. He looked at you before his eye fell on your cotton dress.

“What is this?” 

“Aemond, I–” 

“Wasn't it to your liking? You should have told me. I would have asked the royal weaver to make the necessary alterations. We just received Essos fabrics. Perhaps it would have been wiser to talk to you about it before commissioning it,” he frowned. 

“It was perfect.”

“Was?”

You sighed and embraced him. Immediately, Aemond's hands searched for yours. Your fingers intertwined. He pulled you against him and tucked his chin into your neck. As he spoke, his breaths hit your skin and made you shiver. 

“What are you not telling me, my love?”

His closeness calmed you. With the tip of your pointer finger, you brushed his back and caressed the hollow of his spine. Your hand came to rest on the small of his back and traced invented letters that told of all the love you felt for him. He smiled against your neck and kissed it, understanding the gibberish you were writing with an ignorant hand. 

The language of love knew no illiteracy.

“Y/N?”

Your sigh struggled to come out, blocked by the muscular torso against your chest. It struggled to find its way to your lips and  when it did come out, it poured all its guilt into the air before suffocating you. 

“It's just that... I mean... Don't get angry, please, I couldn't bear it,” you begged.

“Never, my love. Now tell me.” 

“Your gifts… My parents… They sell them.” 

He straightened up and sought your gaze, but you turned your head away. Guilt lacerated your throat. You swallowed to get rid of the horrible feeling, but it remained. 

The Gods were punishing you. 

“They sell them and use the gold for the forge or when they feel like it.”  

He said nothing, which worried you. 

“Stop offering me more," you stammered. “I beg you, Aemond. I can't bear the guilt any longer. Please, Aemond. You must understand…”

He hushed you and gently caressed your cheek. You took refuge in the warmth of his palm and closed your eyes. His lips wiped away the few tears that rolled down your cheekbone. 

“It is all right.”

“Is it?”

“Yes, my sweet. Now please, do not cry. I cannot bear this sight.”

After your conversation, Aemond stopped bringing you gifts. Your heart sank, but you told yourself that it was for the best⏤your parents would, at last, no longer monopolise his fortune. Now, all your prince had left to offer you were his caresses and words, but you felt richer than if he had given you a piece of jewellery. 

Your hammer struck the iron, sending sparks flying. They nicked at your cheeks but did not dim the smile on your face. Your thoughts drifted back to last night, Aemond's warm skin against yours, his hand between your thighs, his warmth and his thrusts… 

A metallic noise brought you back to reality. You raised your head and blinked, expecting to find Corwyn in the workshop, but there was only you. 

It comes from the shop, you realised. 

You frowned⏤thinking about the person behind the counter⏤and wiped your hands on an old towel before walking to the front. Worry settled in your chest as you quickened your pace. 

Your father never dropped his tools. Years of experience had turned his hammer into a part of his hand. He was no longer the young apprentice you or your siblings still were. 

You stumbled into the shop. 

“M’prince!" your father stammered. “To what do we owe this honour?”

Your wide eyes met Aemond's satisfied one. The towel fell to the floor. 

“Would you like a sword? I have several that might please you. No Valyrian steel around here unfortunately," he chuckled, "but they cut just as good.”

“I’ve come to discuss your daughter's affairs.” 

“Meredyth?” 

“Your youngest daughter," the Prince replied. 

Your father gave you an incredulous look when you reached him. His fist tightened around the hammer he had picked up. 

“I heard a rumour that rather annoys me, I must admit. A rumour about valuable objects that have an unfortunate tendency to disappear.”

Your father grabbed your upper arm to keep you in line⏤ unwilling to sully his image in front of the Prince Regent. 

“Her mother and I...! We've told her a hundred times not to steal! She's a good girl, m’prince. She's just a little... lost. Youth, you know," he smiled nervously. “No need to make a big deal of it. Don't you think?”

“Oh, your daughter is innocent. You are the problem, sir.” 

“M-me?”

“You see, those objects were gifts. From me, might I add. And I take great offence that you not only stole them but shamelessly sold them for your own gain, embezzling money from the crown. This is an act of treason, did you know that? I could have your head for this.”

You massaged the bridge of your nose between two fingers and sighed, cursing your lover's hot blood and praying to the Gods to give you the strength. Three eyes burned at your temple⏤two of embarrassment, one of pride. You met your father's gaze and shrugged. 

“I… I beg your pardon, m’prince. We didn't know.” 

Your father set down his hammer on the counter and curtsied. His callused fingers waved, unsure of what to do, before plunging into the centre pocket of his leather apron. 

The prince stared at your father for a few more seconds, gloating as he squirmed with embarrassment, and moved towards you. Gently, he took hold of your wrist. You gasped when a cold sensation touched your hand. You looked down and found a magnificent ring on your finger⏤a fine circle of twisted gold with several sparkling sapphires.

“And there it was. Something as precious as you," he smiled, stroking the jewel with his thumb. “A thousand stones could not compare with your eyes, but I must admit I cannot wait to see it on your finger tonight. It will be all the more beautiful under the moonlight.”

Aemond kissed your hand before straightening up to glare at your father. 

“If I hear this ring has been sold, you will suffer the consequences. Is that clear?”

“Yes, m’prince.”

“Hmm. Good.”

He left the forge with a confident step and slammed the door behind him. 

Silence stretched on. Your teary eyes remained riveted on the jewel. The imprint of his kiss still warmed the back of your hand and made your heart race. You shook your fingers, welcoming this new weight, and smiled brightly.  

After several minutes, your father, his mouth ajar, finally turned to you. 

“Now, what on earth did you do to seduce a prince, girl?

You straighten your back with a deep breath as you ready yourself to greet your guest. The Dvolin Marquis and his family are here, presumably to try and set you up with his eldest daughter. It's a common occurrence that you'll be harassed at least a few times by every noble woman in the country for your hand in marriage. You'll turn her down just like you have everyone else.

As you descend down the stairs you notice that your butler gives you a little wink before he begins to guide your guests to the drawing room. You can't help but smile knowing that even with this exhausting waste of time he's prepared your favorite dessert.

Of course as expected the meeting is short. You tell them plainly you are not currently looking for a wife and then they try to argue with you. The marquis tries to get more time to change your mind by insisting that you not cast them out into the snow after their long trip and out of politeness you offer them your guest rooms. Your butler gives them the tour while you return to the office with a headache.

As you sit at your desk trying to finish signing documents your eyes keep closing. Your head is so heavy. You've never been so tired in your life. Your eyes flutter close as you hear the door of your office open. Knowing your butler he probably already knew you were tired and had brought a blanket. He smelled really sweet today too.

Phillip had of course noticed your sudden exhaustion and even more concerning the disappearance of the Dvolin daughter during his tour. He can't stand bottom feeding scum like this who dare to bother you or even worse actively try to hurt you. It's hard to keep his composure when he opens your office door and finds this woman moving your unconscious body to the floor. Still he must remain professional.

"It seems as if his grace has fallen asleep. I ask that you not move him." He smiles as politely as he can muster.

"Oh- He-he was having some kind of problem he said his clothes were too tight before he fainted." She tried her best to look innocent and helpless.

"Then you should have alerted his staff immediately. In fact, why were you here to begin with?" He stepped closer to make sure you were still breathing normally. Just asleep like he said.

"You.. You're right I should have said something but I was so worried! You should be lucky I'm here to help your master."

"And you should learn your manners. Allow me to educate you." Phillip pulled out his riding crop and rested it against his hand.

His smile dropped as he hovered above her. "Lesson one. If you think a filthy lowlife like you could ever deserve my master you're too stupid to learn anything."

When you woke up the sun had started to set and you were laying on the lounge of your office, three different blankets wrapped around your body. The one who had woken you was a young maid who was out of breath and panicking as she shook you.

"Your grace! The marquis and his family have gone to the monster territory! They won't listen to reason!"

You clattered to your feet and grabbed your fur coat and your sword. Running out into the snow only to find Philip standing at the gate with his head hung and his coat hit with the unmistakable splattering of blood.

4dbarbie remix: How to let go of Vanessa

My notes: This is basically a TLDR version of my first 4dbarbie remix post How to realise Self. My original intention for that post was actually to make something like this, a really straightforward (and short lol) practical guide on how to let go of the ego in order to realize Self that I could refer to and apply on a day to day basis. It ended up being a long essay (it was over 3000 words aha) as I decided to go through all her posts and answered asks and found a lot of important information to include so it sort of became more of an educational post (which I'm glad to have made and it helped me understand everything better too!). So anyway, here it is. Pretty much all of the below information was taken from my How to realise Self post (besides the suggested exercises section at the bottom) - I just extracted the more practical guidance outside the explanations to make it.

My personal notes and highlights are in pink for main points and purple for 'action' points.

Just let go of the ego, that’s how simple it is. All you need to fix is your wrong identification. There isn't anyone who couldn’t materialize anything right now if he or she would just let go of identifying as the limited body. 1

Stop thinking you are Vanessa, the thoughts of needing this or that drop away. To change, you need to give up this conviction of being this person. You need to disbelieve. 2 A lot of beliefs are subconscious. "I am a body", "I am Vanessa", "There is a world" are all subconscious, automatic beliefs. Upon investigation you can get rid of any belief (by making them conscious and then dropping them). 14 How do you drop a belief? (see part 1 and part 2)

All you need to do is detach from this form during the day, let life happen as it happens while reminding yourself it's a dream, a dream that doesn't have to be yours. 3

What I recommend you to do is bring your self into focus, become aware of your own existence. See how you function, watch the motives and the results of your actions. Study the prison you have built around yourself because of credulity. By knowing what you are not, you come to know your self. The way back to your self is through refusal and rejection. 4

Leave your mind alone, that is all. Don't go along with it. 5 Thoughts will keep on coming for a while, just now you know they have nothing to do with you. Get into a habit of watching, letting them be but not identifying with them. If you can observe them, it means you are not them. 6

Step away and look (observe). The physical events will go on happening, but by themselves they have no importance. It is your mind alone that matters. When you identify yourself with them, you are their slave, you think you have to act on them. When you stand apart, you are their master 7

Just stop taking the thoughts you don't like for truth or reality. There is no convincing involved, it is all letting go. 8 Doesn't matter what the thought is, leave it alone, ignore it BUT not by force of will, just indifference 9

Start letting go bit by bit, just to see what happens. You won't start "acting crazy" just because you become uninterested in thoughts, I promise 10

You don't need to convince yourself they're unreal, just dismiss them (the thoughts) as not yours. They will disappear more and more through your newfound indifference, then their physical counterparts will, too. Detachment is by doubt and indifference. First you start doubting "the facts", then you become indifferent to the facts, lastly there are no facts anymore and you can establish your own. 9

Your next step will be realizing there is nothing to learn in a dream. You'll find yourself having less and less thoughts, then none at all. Then, only if you want, you will be able to reinstall the mind, now of your choice, and change the dream. 3

All you need is to get rid of the tendency to define your self. All definitions apply to your body only and to its expressions. Once this obsession with the body goes, you will revert to your natural state, spontaneously and effortlessly. 4

Be patient with yourself because you don't lose any time, just get to that place I'm telling you about and then you can just go back in time if you so wish. All worry is pointless! And there is nothing to fear, things just happen, do not claim them as yours for a while. Unclutter your mind, it becomes your servant after you've freed it enough. 11

Reminder: This body and this world are not forced onto you, they exist through your identification with them. Not yours, remember? Repeat. Not yours. You won't lose your mind, you'll only lose your misery. After you've detached, you'll easily shift to as many realities as you want - don't put any on a pedestal of desire, they are equal. See this world and the body as not real first. What is true is only what I AM is identified with, right now this body which is not in that TV show (referring to anon's desire). Correct this first by letting go of thinking it's you. 12

Suggested exercises (not required if you don't want to do it!)

1. Sitting in silence & just being with no thoughts - The whole point of sitting in silence is to realize what you are, pure beingness. Awareness only becomes consciousness when it has an object. The object changes all the time. In consciousness there is movement; awareness by itself is motionless and timeless, here and now. 4

2. Start doubting you'll wake up as Vanessa tomorrow - Not to get it, but consider it actually… What if… I wake up tomorrow and I realize an entire life has been just a dream?! Equal to the one I dreamt last night?! What if you wake up and realize it all was a nightmare that you THOUGHT went on for years and it's just been a few hours... even get scared and terrified about that thought. Better than getting scared about non-reality.

WHAT IN THE WORLD?! That never was... but I felt it so real, I swear I was her?! Yet here you are, awake, and the dream never was.

Do it like that. Doubt that it's anything but a dream as much as possible. 13

It seems that for some of you, this career will be embraced after you've been somewhat forced by life to take a different turn, something you hadn't anticipated and shows up as a surprise. For others, it could simply mean that you will be surrounded by catastrophic accidents and unforeseen circumstances, and I'm picturing an emergency room when I'm writing this. Like, you will be forced to grow because the chaos surrounding you will call for someone to do something, and you've got what it takes to do so.

You will know this is the right path for you after contemplating your decision for a long time. You'll mull over your choices and options, and even discuss it with loved ones in order to make sure its the right one for you because you don't take it lightly as it will come with some type of sacrifice for your time and energy. Basically you'll need to dedicate yourself fully to this and you know this. But overall, once you're decided, you'll be very happy of your choice and eager to enjoy the good sides that comes with the job.

When it comes to your strengths, you're someone who can fuel themselves with the shit that life throws at them, never fully loosing their balance. The idea of transforming things, putting values into question, bending rules is also quite important, as well as is the idea of communication to a larger audience. I will also add that you might not box yourself into just one type of creative expression, but rather  dabble into many different things. It seems you are  not so much passionate about one medium but rather as I said earlier by the pursuit of beauty in all its form, so I totally see you trying out different things and it seems that you'll be good at most of them naturally.

You will know it's the right path for you because it'll allow you to have a vision. It's like, you'll find a tiny window with a tiny opportunity and it'll ignite you mind, making you think about all that's possible in every different direction, and the legacy you could leave. Summary : A group of men makes fun of Hyun-ju while you're on a shopping spree. You make it clear nobody gets to disrespect your girlfriend in front of you.

It's such a great day, your girlfriend Hyun-ju and you both have their day off and decide to do a shopping spree. That's something that's very important and appreciated by the two of you. A moment shared by two loving souls in order to make each other happy.

As you enter a new clothing shop, your fingers intertwined with hers, you start feeling odd. You can feel some eyes on you and you don't like the way it makes you feel.

There you see them. A bunch of young men, staring at Hyun-ju and you in a way you truly hate. You can see them laughing as well, your heart starts beating faster with your anger rising up.

Hyun-ju is used to this kind of thing, she's been living through this for years now. So she quickly notices when it happens and tries her best to wipe it away. She doesn't like getting into arguments and she knows it's worthless to try educating those people. They already made up their mind about minorities and won't change their opinion.

You can feel her grip tightening around your hand.

— Let it go. She says quietly.

But you just couldn't. Discrimination always has been something making your blood boil. You always stand up for yourself, at least as much as you can. And today would be no exception, nobody would disrespect your girlfriend in front of your eyes. You let go of her hand and walk to them.

— Excuse me? May I know what you're laughing about? Your passive aggressive tone doesn't seem to get to them.

They don't answer right away but you can see their glares being on Hyun-ju who followed you but was still a little behind. You snap your fingers to their faces.

— I'm talking to you right now. Why are you laughing while looking at my girlfriend? Your tone is definitely just aggressive now and you're not sorry about it.

— Girlfriend??? Oh my god... They keep laughing and you feel like your heart is about to get out of your chest from the rage you feel right now. They keep on making offensive jokes just like you aren't there.

You feel like your hand is going to fly to their faces in a second.

— Are you mad cause you can't pull girls and she can ? Y'all are just a bunch of pathetic losers who'll end up alone because of their closed minds. Your heart is full of hate and it makes you so damn miserable. People like you aren't worth anything. Just fuck you.

You turn back to Hyun-ju who was staring awkwardly, she doesn't like seeing you in that state of anger. You grab her hand in a second and lead her outside of the shop.

— You didn't have to do that, I'm used to it, they're not worth it...

— Of course I had to Hyun-ju. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn't stand up for you? Now let's get home honey.

The walk to your shared apartment is silent. None of you really know what to say right now. The air feels heavy, the words and laughs of the group of pathetic men still echoing through it.

When you finally reach your apartment, Hyun-ju heads to the bedroom without a word. You put the shopping bags down, remove your shoes and follow her.

She quietly lays on her side, her back turned to the room's door.

— Hyun-ju ? You ask softly. Are you okay love?

You see her shrugging her shoulders as an answer. She then turns to you as you sit on the bed before laying next to her.

— You know, I may have gotten used to it, it still hurts a bit. I make all these efforts to showcase my femininity, I try my best to seem confident despite constantly feeling like I'm not enough, and sometimes it works. Sometimes I actually feel the confidence kicking in. Today was one of these days. I felt like myself, like the woman I've always been. When those men started laughing at me, it crushed. The confidence left in a second, like it didn't take years to build it. I felt like no matter what I do, I'd never be perceived as myself and it hurts so bad. A few tears start staining her cheeks.

You lay her head on your chest, hoping your heartbeat would help her to relax. One of your hands caresses her cheek while the other caresses her back. You press a kiss to the top of her head here and there.

— Honey, you are enough. You start. You'll always be enough as yourself. I know it's hard, I know some days are tougher than others but I also know how strong you are. At this point, I honestly have a pretty solid idea in my mind for how I think this situation would typically go! You're a couple of years younger than them and you're a little weird, just like your brothers. During your childhood, whenever someone teases or bullies you at school, they always stick up for you! Social media posts, tags and accounts are beginning to be suppressed. It's no secret that Trump and his goons have a Monopoly on all the popular social media apps, like Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and it is extremely likely that TikTok has been sold to Meta.

It's extremely disturbing to think about simply in the context of American adults. Nobody is immune to propaganda, but especially not under educated, cell phone addicted Americans being fed propaganda by their government without any authority to fact check or dispute information. But something even more disturbing is the presence of another demographic.

You know who's on these apps? Children. Impressionable, vulnerable children and teenagers with developing brains who spend hours and hours scrolling on social media. Who look to social media for their news, their facts.

And, even more disturbing is the plans the American government has for the department of education. It's very clear here what is going to be done, what we've been seeing for years and years that radical right wing groups always, always push for; the suppression of truth and science in favor of an authoritarian agenda. And, in the modern day, I believe we are witnessing an attempt to replace human critical thinking with Artificial Intelligence.

In other words, vulnerable, impressionable children being raised in a generation where the average teenager has 8+ hours of screen time in a day are now going to be active in online spaces where propaganda is going to be pumped into their minds, while activism and truth is suppressed. Artificial intelligence can do all the work for them, critical thinking will be a "waste of time", and already inadequate education systems are going to be tarnished the rest of the way.

This is terrifying. This is disgusting. This is fascism.

We've become so reliant on social media for communication with our loved ones, communities, for a platform to speak our minds, that it's too difficult to simply cease using these apps. Children are already chemically addicted to them. We are, too.

What in the world can we do about any of this? How do we fight against a dictatorship that suppresses us when we try? What about climate change, the end of the Earth?

Is this the end for us?

That's a terrifying thought, but it's one you should keep in your mind for the days to come.

It's a question many other generations were forced to ask themselves, too. The threat was just as real then as it is now.

Maybe some of you have thought about death, before. Maybe you have come close, or believed you did. I have. And from that, one thing that's stuck with me, one question that's stuck out in my mind for years now, is one I try to live by every day. One reason I'm writing this all out in a hope to reach somebody, anybody, make someone think.

If you died, would you be proud of what you left behind?

Would you be confident to say that you did what you thought was right? Would your grandchildren be proud of you? Can you be certain that you would be remembered as a good, caring person who tried to do the best they could in a terrible situation? Or will society let your memory fade away as somebody who couldn't lift a finger to help in the face of injustice?

You can do so much more than you think you can. Resist. Being kind, compassionate and understanding is resistance. Listening to the stories of your fellow human beings is resistance. Thinking for yourself and keeping your eyes open is resistance. Not letting your fear paralyze you is resistance.

The chances of you having been essentially kidnapped against your will the moment you awoke as a Herrscher are pretty high. You're scared and confused, but don't worry, Otto is a good guy. Also, please teach young people about the LGBTQ+ and alterhuman communities. By young people I mean children, not teens/young adults. Some want to prevent this because they don't want their child to be "CONVERTED" into a queer, or alterhuman, etc. I don't know how I'm supposed to prove this but for God sake they don't get converted. Sure, they may believe they're queer/alterhuman for a while, and change their mind later. Or, they might stay that way, and throughout the years, they're still that way, and a few years later, by the time you believe they're "old enough to know", they're still that way. Wouldn't you rather your child start the journey of finding themselves as early as possible so they can learn, excercise and develop as much as possible or do you want to keep them in a protective bubble so that they don't get "confused" or "brainwashed" but then allow reality to hit them one day just so they can suffer through what they should have dealt with years ago. Sometimes, finding yourself can be hard, yes. But, the sooner you start, the better strength and sense of self you'll have when you're older. Queers in general acknowledge that they've always been different from a very young age, and at some point they were aware of that, so why not give them the education they need to figure out WHY they're different? It will prevent/fix so many insecurities. I hate that people are so hesitant to try out new things because they're so damn comfortable with traditions. Times are MEANT TO CHANGE, people are MEANT TO CHANGE, society is MEANT TO CHANGE. That's how we learn. That's how we grow. That's how we get better. That's how we get stronger, smarter, etc. Stop getting upset about how much things have changed that is a God damn good thing. In fact, I'M GLAD times have changed. I would HATE living in a time of ignorance or lack of awareness. I am SO GLAD that I know I'm queer and an alterhuman because if I didn't, I'd be so confused, lost, and I'd probably hate myself and think that I'm weird (in a bad context).

Also, can we PLEASE STOP this argument about fucking pronouns. Just be a decent human being and respect people's pronouns no matter what the fuck they are. Even if they're neopronouns, or something you've never heard of. Just use them. If you don't want to use them, then either don't talk to them, avoid misgendering them by avoiding the use of pronouns altogether (which I guarantee will be a lot harder for you anyway) or just grow the fuck up and use them.

You can use they/them to refer to one individual or multiple individuals. It's not always plural. They/them can be used to refer to someone/ some people who are not classed as men or women, but just PEOPLE.

And I swear to God y'all better NOT get pissed off when someone tries to correct you after YOU misgendered THEM. It's not a personal attack. They're just setting boundaries and if you don't like that then you're a problem you need some self-investment. Imagine yourself in their shoes, hating the names and pronouns they were born with because they asoossiate them with discomfort or possibly trauma, and here you are bringing back their discomfort. Surely you can understand or relate to not wanting something that you're forced to do or forced to have. Are you really going to make them suffer just because YOU can't be bothered to remember their preferred name. AKA. Their ACTUAL name.

Now obviously, if you misgender them by accident, that's a different story, and they shouldn't make you feel bad about yourself for doing it if it wasn't your intention. It goes both ways. ACCIDENTALLY misgendering someone isn't a personal attack because you don't know what you're doing until you're enlightened. You don't need to feel bad for it and no one should be making you feel bad. If that is happening be mature and make it clear that you did not mean to misgender them and learn from your mistake. To avoid this, it's better to ask for their pronouns before starting a conversation. If they insult you for ACCIDENTALLY misgendering them even though you wanted to make it clear that it was an accident, then yeah, maybe they're the problem. But purposely misgendering someone isn't okay, no matter what the reason for it is. I don't care if you don't like that person so you're misgendering them as a personal attack, or even if you're transphobic. Purposely misgendering someone is a dumb act. And uh, yes, fuck the transphobes.

About neopronouns, it doesn't matter if you don't understand it. You should still respect it. You're not going to relate with everything but you shouldn't make that anyone else problem. So what if it's new to the language? Do you just not want new words to be added to the dictionary so we're stuck with the same old words forever? We say words like "skibidi" and "sigma" and "rizz" and "gyatt" and "good" and "edge" and "mewing" and all that brainrot stuff and that's not part of the language either. But we still God damn say it don't we? Now I know that doesn't prove my point because those aren't agreed to be ACTUAL words by everyone but look. We can add new words to our language. Like fuck it, that's literally the whole point of a language. Anyway respect and use neopronouns.

Asking someone for their pronouns is the same as asking for their name. You don't know either until you ask or get to know. Think of it that way. Every individual has their own name and therefore their own pronouns. Yes, everyone either has male or female genitalia unless they have genital mutilation. (I'm not going to talk about intersex people in this post because I haven't done proper research on them yet and they're not really relevent to what I'm currently discussing). But in terms of gender, there is way more than just boy or girl. Just because someone "looks like a girl" doesn't mean they should be forced to use she/her and the same goes for "boys". Appearance isn't something we have control over completly and we need to acknowledge that, for example, just because someone's a female doesn't mean they can't use he/him. They don't have to try to look like a boy in order to use the pronouns. If it's what makes them happy and comfortable. Do it now. Don't make them wait for anything. DO. IT. NOW.

We also need to acknowledge that there is more than just FTM trans and MTF trans. There are non-binary people, generfluid people, people who fit into different categories, etc.

I hate that y'all are saying you want to go back to the times when things were more "simple" 😭 like PLEASE, tell me you're not serious bro. So you want to go back when we had no phones, no cars and less scentific knowledge. I mean sure, go for it dude. Get that time machine out right now. Your sex is what you're assigned with at birth. It's what you are biologically, sexually, whatever. It's what's "in between your legs". This creates the terms male, female and intersex, which is different to the terms "boy", "girl", "man" and "woman". Our sex can only change if we have top/bottom surgery. Oviously, this leads to the chromosomes argument, which I honestly think is very stupid and irrelevant. Your chromosomes are literally just the reminder of what sex and gender you were assigned with at birth. The definition of what a "real man" or a "real woman" is thrown around the room so much it's crazy.

Here's how I see it. Imagine someone is born with male genitalia so they're assigned as (sex - male) (gender - boy) at birth. From what my heteronormative, homophobic and transphobic family member has said to me, a "real man" is a person with "XY" chromosomes, or someone who's born with male genitalia). When did we decide that's what defines a real man? Why does that have to be the definition? First of all, we haven't agreed as a whole that that's what defines a real man. Secondly, no scientist has said that a so-called "REAL MAN" is equivalent to a biological male. Lastly, this formed definition doesn't benefit anybody apart from assholes. In fact, it's used to promote transphobia and encourage hate speech. If someone was born in the wrong body and so therefore need gender affirming care and top/bottom surgery, how can we call that a real man?

We can't control our sex. Honestly I bet many people wish we could. I do. I hate my body so much I can barely stand watching myself get dressed, get in and out the shower, etc. Obviously not everyone hates their body. When someone has body "dysphoria", not to be confused with body "dysmporphia" (thinking you body is fatter/skinnier/"uglier" than it is), it means that they are dissatisfied with the body that they have and the gender they are assigned with at birth.

Changing the gender you identify as, getting surgery or learning what a healthy body looks like as well as developing a healthy lifestyle can treat these problems very well. They worked for me.

BOTH our gender and our sex are the same when we are born. For example, I was born with female genitalia so I was named (my deadname) and referred to as a "female". This means that BY DEFAULT, my gender was "girl" and my pronouns were "she/her/hers". My parents were very happy to finally have a daughter, which is very unfortunate considering how times have changed along with gender norms. It's also unfortunate because as one of my favourite youtubers (funkyfrogbait) said, it's a bad idea to treat babies like pokemon and keep having them until you get the gender you want. This is inconsiderate of the fact that each baby is an individual and unique life and not just a second chance for you. Babies grow up to be their own people and they're not there to serve the parents. How society was decades ago and how society is now is very differnet and some parents are very upset that their kids aren't turning out how they expected them to be.

I remember once my Mother said that she was worried about me being converted to the queer community. My naiive ass literally sat there and reassured her that I wasn't gay 💀 I didn't even realize how fucked up it was that I had to promise something like that to my Mother, when she should love me regardless of my sexuality. My siblings would always talk down on queer people and pride. It made me uncomfy. I would just laugh awkwardly and pretend to find it funny, even though half the time they weren't even joking. One of my siblings mocked their ex for dying their hair pink after the breakup, saying that she was "going mad". My Mother would agree. Honestly, I don't understand how dying your hair means you're "going mad". It's just a fun thing people like to do. Maybe they wanted to criticise the alternative side of it because they're a conservative family, which is bad for me because I'm alternative. It took me a few years to realized how fucked up this was. On top of that, my sibling would criticise people with dyed hair as they followed the sterotype that queers are alternative, have dyed hair, tattoos, piercings, etc. this one time they would refer to "those gays" as "green-haired smelly gay woke transgender farts". My sibling was bragging about not being queer and my parents said that queers are so down below him that he shouldn't even compare himself to them. Looking back at this, my heart sinks.

Anyway, back to the point. Gender is different to sex and there are way more gender types than sex types. I won't be able to list them all because I don't know them all, but some examples are man, woman, genderfluid, bigender, agender, and the list goes on. There's also non-binary but I don't know if that counts as a gender please enlighten me. You can choose whatever gender makes you comfortable or happy. I am genderfluid, which means my gender changes frequently as well as my pronouns. I am female but my pronouns are fluid from he/him to they/them. I identify as a person most of the time, a man sometimes but never a woman.
