Well I've been meaning to draw this for years now, finally got round to it! My take on the uniform designs; If they just didn't have to wear all white...

If just they didn't have to wear all white in all occasions but death*

Black symbolising death (at least that's how I'd interpret it), the kids only being able to wear something different as a treat or to foreshadow an internal funeral in Isabella's mind + a hat to shelter from Him (or god, I guess. ) is a stunning decision I'll always praise

Im also glad for the choice of architecture, use of candles and lanterns yet have futuristic technology. Even if it was a bit silly at first watch (you can have big ass screens and headphones but not a light switch? Quite funny)

Season 2 did us way too dirty but at least the boys got boots! I'm such a fan of season 1 boots choice and it's quite disappointing (but understandable) how the boys got a more stereotypical wear

Sheesh. The manga really is better

They look a little...off ^ but I'm glad for the manga and the designs after grace field, they got something other than white that doesn't directly link to death

Cant really expect much if they're on the go though! That's for sure. Keeping their button ups was a great choice, too

Norman tho.... Norman and his suit? It's so so so good. Makes him look older, matured and dependable. Business man through and throughout <⁠(⁠￣⁠︶⁠￣⁠)⁠>

Compared to Barbara, Cislo and Vincent, he really does come across as Boss, leader and someone they really look up to (to a dangerous degree)

Keeping himself prim n proper to feed off their God and superiority complex towards him. Barbara doesn't exactly put much effort in her clothes, that explains her brash personality

He's subconsciously wearing black and white despite them having some clothes with colours. guilt? Lambda squad got tortured physically, chained to the wall (thank you S2 I guess) while he did not..

Norman depriving himself from some joy and keeping his image high. at least that's my takeಡ⁠ ͜⁠ ⁠ʖ⁠ ⁠ಡ

I always thought it was a bit odd that the lambda kids were so adamant on hating demons but we don’t really see how they feel about the ratris or how that affects their views on adults/other humans

they were experimented on by human AND demon researchers

They were the first kids to find out the difference between wild demon intelligence/consciousness and ability to have morality but they still treat them all the same

TPN has crafted a narrative of humans vs demons but doesn’t acknowledge how much the children might hate/resent those who put them in this position

It’s probably because every human forced to sell out the kids is painted in a sympathetic light in some way (except Andrew)

Legirivima/Peter was seen as brainwashed by their own delusion about their glorious lineage/history and it was a problem of the indoctrination they grew up in and the expectations/mindsets that were pressured onto them

It was glossed over in Isabella’s death and lack of living to make up for what she put each of the kids though (ray specifically)

So it's kinda never adressed in canon how cruel the kids are willing to be to those who are somewhat responsible for putting them in this position regardless of if they are demon or not (as I've addressed here with goldy pond specifically)

I think apollo!ray’s attitude vs Norman’s regarding demons would be similar to how they treat adults by only seeing their enemies (no matter what/who they are) as monsters

Norman went out of his way to ensure he wouldn’t be rebuilding the freedom of the children on top of the ratri’s legacy by doing the same thing they did (subjecting future generations to cloning experimentation/inhumane treatment) even though that was an option he could have gone with when allying with Gleelan

He could have given live Ratris to Gleelan to prove he was willing to screw over adults in order for the children to live (which I imagine apollo!ray would be cruel enough to do in this AU) but this shows there is a line when it comes to Norman’s morality he won’t cross

This shows how much norman values humanity regardless of who they are, ratri or not

His plan was for the demons to destroy themselves but he had no plan for the ratris afterward and i think it shows much how much norman unconsciously took inspiration from emma

Norman thought humans wouldn’t hurt/be prejudiced against the children if the demons weren’t putting them in that situation in the first place (he believes in natural goodness to an extent when push doesn’t come down to shove)

I think it reflects on how different his relationship with Isabella was

He asked if she was happy. He does understand (not agree with) her perspective of lying so the kids have a happy life (which he did with Don and Gilda and continues to do with Lamba squad later)

Despite calling her a demon at the beginning (which you can clearly see Emma is more uncomfortable with, but accepts given their desperate situation)

they both (eventually) see her as a human forced into this situation doing the best with what she can

He doesn’t want to kill her but he will (reluctantly) to secure the safety of his family

HOWEVER

RAY IS NOT LIKE THAT

HE IS FULLY WILLING/READY/ABLE TO KILL

To be burdened in a way Norman never was

By taking demon AND human lives

I imagine apollo!Ray would actually enjoy the torture of demons because it’s a way to vent after all he went thru via Isabella

Straight out of Grace field and Ray is most concerned about what control he has in the situation because that’s what he learned from isabella

Causing the demons pain and being encouraged by the other lambda kids would probably turn that need for control into violent tendencies that he is willing to take out on the demons

The only humans Ray has ever seen survive were those willing to climb over corpses and without meeting yuugo/lucas or any other adult/escapees to disprove this he fully believes Emma is being unrealistic and unreasonable and doesn’t go on to adopt any of her positive worldviews like Norman does/strives to

182 Days of TPN - Day 129

Chapter 129: "My Burden"

I dunno if this room is somewhere beneath the paradise hideout or just nearby. Anime gives the impression that this place is under the room the trio were just having their discussion in, but regardless on wherever we are right now, how in the hell did y'all manage to move a demon this large down here? I know Cislo, Barbara and Zazie are strong but could they manage that?

Norman looking almost sad that Emma & Mujika are close, if only because he knows how important Emma considers all her friends, so the emotional ties between them is the main problem. Their bond is only convenient as it'll help locate Mujika later. Also, Cislo's face in the second panel is funny to me.

Of course I shall praise Barbara's voice actresses for how they portrayed her anger in this scene, and as terrifying as her flashbacks to Lambda are, I do like it also gives us a brief look at Goodwill Ridge and the artificial lighting it uses similar to the Grand Valley farms & Goldy Pond, as we found out in the ch77 extra page with Violet & Emma.

Here's your reminder to take your meds. Drink some water. Take a moment to stretch. Eat something. Relax. Take care of yourselves.

I feel so bad for them and how they have to endure these kinds of attacks almost daily, not to mention the trauma that resulted from all those years trapped at Lambda being experimented on. It's clear to see why their hatred towards the demons is so strong.

The way the anime shifts in and out of focus on this one moment is real nice too, as if our vision is getting blurry by our own tears.

I can also appreciate how the anime kept Norman's face hidden during the majority of this conversation. It really enjoys making him seem so cold.

Seeing all those jars full of demon parts really puts into perspective just how busy Norman and the squad have been since their escape. To conduct so many experiments on the demons, among destroying countless farms, rescuing other children, maintaining paradise and making deals with demons is certainly a lot to handle in just about ten months (they escaped Lambda in February and it's currently November, yeah?)

To this day I'm baffled they managed to escape Lambda at all. I mean, I'm still in awe how the fifteen kids escaped GF and that was with mainly Isabella on guard. And I love that woman with all my heart and soul and know exactly how big of a threat she is on her own, but compared to several demons? And with other adults always on watch? How?? I know Norman had help from Smee and whatever else but damn guys.

I can't even blame him about having no regrets or even his choices. Of course Norman's methods are extreme but so is everything else in this world. It's cruel and unrelenting and if you don't fight back just as hard then you'll die. He's simply using what he learned in order to survive.

This shouldn't be a surprise. This panel and quote of his is damn iconic. The anime could never replicate the same kind of energy.

Norman tries so hard to do it and come off as polite and friendly but he doesn't really know what to say??

"The weather is really balanced today!"

"And what is your favourite book if I may ask?"

But if he says "have you ever[..]" the conversation could go from the weather to why the Pythagoras theorem is actually useful for day to day life and scientific related topics

Piggybacking off the tags of my previous post but it pains me to think of how Takahiro Obata still went balls to the wall for the new tracks in S2 even after TPN Committee gave up on making a satisfying adaption. The choral backing of this track that plays during the pursuit of the first wild demon the kids encounter in S2e01 (but before the pursuer demons from the farm show up) enhances the gravity of the situation they find themselves in, elevating it beyond the surface layer of their singular, individual encounter to one of another plane where they’re fighting for their very souls, underscored with percussion to ramp up the tension and then the introduction of the brass for a grand sense of triumph. This is taking advantage of a medium shift.
