I am shamefully coming back to ask you for another reading for my drs 😞 for this reading it's specifically for my project7 dr in which I'll debut in my own made up girl group called LUVIETTE. and in this dr I have a variety show where I basically interview my favorite groups like for this reading it's NCT WISH, since they're like my number one faves, I get to interview them later on after my debut as their fan but also as an idol. So I'd like to know what the memebrs think of me as their fan in that dr? Thank you so much
(I'm the first blasian idol and I'm still a minor in that dr as well if that helps)
Aaa ty
ahhhhh I'm loving that so much, I'll try to do my best, actually it is my first time doing a reading on more ppl so i have to find a new way!!! let's try it!!
Sion
he sees you as someone that he could be a really good friend with, maybe share moments of joy and some funny jokes. when he saw you he felt like he always knew you since forever and that's why he feels safe with you there, he wants to be your friend so bad, give him an opportunity to this poor boy😭☝🏼
6 of cups and 3 of cups
Riku
with Riku i have mixed feelings, as soon as i saw the first card i got shivers, do not trust him at all. he has some lustful and obsessive thoughts about you but that he tries to fight within himself, maybe because he knows it's not ok having these thoughts on a minor, nono riku, i don't like this energy 😤 he's actually madly jealous of you and could be really possessive, so possessive about you that he could actually fight with other ppl, including his own members, just to have you
devil and 5 of wands
Yushi
yushi is still trying to figure you out, he doesn't actually think of you as a bad person but still he doesn't have a clear mind about you so he decides to just observe and think before judging. you might reveal yourself to him as someone he didn't expect you to be, i see a shift in his vision but still, he's not getting to a clear conclusion yet
4 of swords and hanged man
Jaehee
Jaehee sees you as free spirited and naive, maybe a bit reckless but still really funny to be with, that's why he would like to take the leap of faith and just try to talk to you. btw, i see the both of you really guarded about each other, maybe it's bc you're both afraid you might getting hurt by that? no, i think it's still bc you're a minor, he sees you almost like a child and he wouldn't actually want to get in trouble, he's afraid of it.
Ryo
ryo has a genuine crush on you, when you both met he felt like a sudden desire to know you better. you awaken him, both emotionally and ehm i won't say that but you can think about it. but it's genuine, he's still a teen and he has really pure and lovely feelings about you he really wants to know you better and reach out to you, he felt a real spark, our boy has a crush lol
ace of cups and wands
Sakuya
our sakuya didn't see you coming AT ALL, he's really surprised actually, at first he was unbothered but then he felt a little spark of curiosity and playfulness too, he wants to know you better too but he feels like he already missed his opportunity, i see him being a little bit shy about you
4 of cups and page of wands
i hope you liked my reading!! feel free to leave a feedback!!💗

gonna be a little greedy with this one--1, 6, 11, and 20 for riku? :3c
Hell yeah let's go.
1. What was the original thought that led to the creation of this character?
Ah yes - I think I have spoken about this before but Riku was originally called Rinku and was actually a version of Link lol. It was because my interest was transferring from Zelda to Persona so I decided to combine the two into an AU! Then as I started to really get into Persona I decided to develop Riku into his own character - as a separate Persona OC. It's kind of evolved from there then lol - overall I would say he's gone through two major changes since he became a standalone Persona OC.
6. What was the thought process behind their appearance? Did you go mostly for aesthetic or are there any other reasons they look the way they do?
Hmm. In terms of his physical design he has changed quite a bit - he started out as essentially a Sylvain clone lol (I was a big fan of his design what can I say) and he's evolved into his own character now - mostly from me just going "what if I gave him this or changed this?" and then went from there.
In terms of his outfits I've spent a LOT of time working on them - in particular his thief outfit. I researched each of the other thief outfits and then worked from there - stuff like shape language and colour palettes. He's gone through multiple iterations - most of which I've never shared but I'm pretty happy with the look now (even if I must admit. He is blue Dante 😭).
Overall I would say with every aspect of Riku's design its a mix of what I personally like and a lot of research as well. Character design is something I'm extremely passionate about and I use Riku to basically help me learn and improve that!
11. Is there any existing character from other media that your character resembles? Was the resemblance intentional or was it a coincidence?
Yes to both actually! Riku naturally draws inspiration from some of my personal favourite characters over the years (he's kind of an combination of all of them tbh) so some resemblance is definitely intentional. I would say the big ones are Zagreus (ESPECIALLY him), Dante from DMC, Spiderman and Simba (after the new changes their backstory is less similar but the plot beats are familiar shall we say). All of them have had a huge effect on me and so have affected Riku too.
There's been plenty of unintentional references too - most of which have been brought up by people on here (Karma from Assassination Classroom is one I remember - and that's also how I decided on his Japanese VA). Other times I'll get into a piece of media and realize that the character I get attached too has some resemblance to Riku lol. A very recent example of this is thanks to Arcane - Jayce and Vi both have stuff in common with Riku!
20. Share any additional thoughts, art, favourite scenes, anything you've been waiting to ramble about.
Hm there's honestly so much I want to share that I wouldn't even know where to begin lol. I guess I can say that because of your Asuka posting I've been thinking about them interacting again!
I'm kind of lazy about posting art and idk if I will post this but there's a cool study I did of the Arcane style (the blending mostly) where I drew Riku based on a screenshot of Jayce (S2 E8) and tbh it might be the best Riku I've ever drawn I don't think I'll top it.
A small thing I could share is that I have officially changed Riku's eye colour to a reddish brown and he no longer wears the blue contacts. Tbh I just enjoyed how the blue eyes looked with the red hair which is why I wanted to keep it somewhat - but now I'm way more used to the reddish brown eyes so that's his eye colour (might even change it to a deeper brown like my own eyes lol).

【KagePro】 KuroEne AU: Kuroha uses Awakening Eyes to make Ene’s body 🖤💙
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary:
Kuroha uses Awakening Eyes to make Ene's android body by temporarily turning into her, and keeps regenerating until he has all the parts he needs to make her body
KuroEne Route Setups: The nature of KuroEne's relationship (ie. Lovers -> Enemies, Enemies and Lovers) changes depending on Saeru's actions
KuroEne AU: Saeru tells Ene about his Awakening Eyes and mentions the legend of the Medusa to her (but without revealing too much)
Ene reacts to Saeru's hair down (without the ponytail)
Ene plays with Saeru's hair and his snakes
Intro
The idea I came up with Feila before back in September 2024 is that if Kuroha/Saeru can use Konoha's Eye Ability, Awakening Eyes, to rebuild the body molecule by molecule, according to the Novel Route, then he should be able to temporarily turn into Ene and get all the parts he needs to build Ene's android body that way.
If Awakening Eyes can remake the owner's body into ANYTHING, then he should be able to turn into Ene and shed off self-healing human skin.
I cherish this AU very much... It's so interesting to me.
I work hard for my rare pairs to create interesting AUs for them 🙏
I imagine that in the first KuroEne AU Route, Saeru made artificial self-healing human skin for Ene's android body. This is based on IRL scientists' advancements for robots with self-healing artificial skin that can react to temperature, pressure, and certain chemicals.
Feila and I based some of Saeru's advancements for Ene's body on some advancements that IRL scientists have made with robots (ie. robot fish that can work up to 36 hours for artificial blood).
I feel like hair cloning can be achieved in a lab.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was curious to see if I could use anything for my KuroEne AU. I was inspired by the idea of a snake shedding its skin...
So he sheds off a few cells off himself that can multiply and then stores it for use in his lab. And then he sheds it off himself, and constantly keeps regenerating until he gets all the parts he needs.
Cuz of Awakening Eyes' extreme regenerative properties.
But in all Routes after the first few, he uses Awakening Eyes to create the outer parts of her body. It makes creating her body 100000x easier.
And then the mf throws his (originally Haruka/Konoha's body's) own skin cells into the mix when creating Ene's body.
The fact that he used apart of himself for her body is like the ultimate declaration of “love” (twisted obsession) and devotion in this guy’s twisted eyes.
The culmination/fruits of his efforts have finally paid off!
In the context of the KuroEne AU, Ene's body is his greatest creation.
Kuroha/Saeru having a twisted obsession for his S/O just seems the most fitting for his character.
So... no wonder this guy is obsessed. Dude's twisted obsession causes him to create a perfect replica of Ene.
I honestly love the Mad Scientist vibes going on here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Quoting these old rambles.
Kuroha/Saeru is so fucked up but that makes him interesting so I say let him be. He's so fun to write for 👍
Awakening Eyes allows the owner of the body to make it into their "ideal body" and make it whatever they want. So he can do this, replicate it, and keep regenerating himself. And knowing this mf, he'd shed off his own skin from his body too to use as part of Ene's android body.
Feila and I came up with the idea that Kuroha could just use Konoha's Eye Ability Awakening Eyes to temporarily turn into Ene, then make it so that his body can shed off self healing skin (and any parts he needs). Then it makes making her android body infinitely easier cuz he'd have all the parts needed to make her body.
Kuroha: You were made from me, and the unison of our parts, therefore we are one ❤️
KuroEne Route Setups
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Multiple outcomes that can happen in a KuroEne Route. I feel like they tend to have this common starting point or setup. Also there are some deviations depending on when Saeru decides to reveal certain information (his true name)
Kuroha possesses Konoha before he gets the chance to meet the MekaDan. Kuroha meets Ene and just decides to "play the game" alone with her (Kuroha can choose to reveal the name "Saeru" later as long as Ene doesn't meet the MekaDan until the final August 15th, since he can use the Medusa legend to justify his existence as a "snake-related human" to Ene)
Kuroha meets Ene and pretends to join the Mekakushi Dan (keeping his true name and identity hidden), and betrays everyone on August 15th. KuroEne's relationship is Lovers to Enemies due to Saeru's betrayal.
Kuroha lets Konoha and Ene meet and develop a friendship and/or relationship, but then he possesses Konoha at some point, and Ene perceives him as the "evil snake" that stole Konoha's body. KuroEne's relationship is Enemies and Lovers.
So, in most Routes in KagePro canon, Saeru possesses Kenjirou (Ayano’s dad) first to manipulate people to get access to funding and resources, and then he jumps to possess Konoha on August 15th
But in my KuroEne AU, I have Saeru drop Kenjirou's body much earlier so that he can meet with Ene as "Black Konoha" (Kuroha), so they spend anywhere from 1 - 2 years together.
And then there’s Kuroha/Saeru's uncanny resemblance to her loved one (Haruka) by possessing Konoha’s body.
In the first KuroEne AU Route, I imagine he introduces himself to her as “Black Konoha,” but Ene decides to shorten the name Black Konoha (Kuro Konoha) to “Kuroha” instead.
So every Route after that, he decides what information he wants to drop and at what time.
He also proceeds to use the nickname that Ene gave him in previous timelines, when he first introduces himself in new Routes when he meets her for the first time, in all subsequent Routes.
So, there’s the KuroEne Routes where Saeru possesses Konoha before he can meet Ene.
Saeru introduces himself as Kuroha and then reveals the name Saeru later once they’ve built more of a connection each other (which works just fine, as long as it’s a Route where they don’t meet with the rest of the MekaDan until August 15th)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Quoting from my notes
Ene: Snake... human? Such a thing like that exists!?
Kuroha: Well... Tales about the legend of the Medusa persist even to this day... But it's not very widely known among humans.
Ene: (I guess it's not completely out of the realm of possibility… I have these red eyes after all.)
Ene: Your red eyes allow you to change your body?
Ene: Even after you've shown me, I'm still shocked!!! That's some incredible power…!
Saeru reveals his true identity but Ene doesn't meet the rest of the MekaDan so it's ok for him to reveal.
Like I can imagine Saeru showing her something simple, like changing his tongue into a forked snake tongue, growing snake scales on his limbs, or changing his appearance into the MR2 form
I imagine that Saeru eventually tells Ene about him being related to snakes in some way and having an Eye Ability that allows him to change his body (but doesn’t mention Azami, his old Master, by name), an explanation that Ene accepts since she also has this mysterious Eye Ability too.
And Ene is wow'ed by Saeru's usage of Awakening Eyes since he can even change his body with it.
F: He would tell her about the snakes but would anon-ify (if that's even a word) Azami as best as he can.
Me: Yeahhh I agree with this too. He'd keep his master's identity a secret
Or there are Routes where he reveals his identity as Snake of Clearing Eyes (Me ga Saeru Hebi) right from the get go (which would make things much more hostile and tense between them, especially if it’s a situation where Ene was friends or in a relationship with Konoha, and Saeru just stole/possessed his body.)
So then Ene perceives him as the evil snake/monster that stole Konoha’s body.
Ene plays with Saeru's hair and his snakes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Me: OH I forgot to mention this but lately I've been tempted to draw Kuroha/Saeru with his hair down. Like his usual Black Konoha form, but without the ponytail.
Cuz I realize I haven't drawn that yet.
I feel like Saeru with his hair down would have messy hair, around shoulder length <3
And I'm also gonna doodle some JdAl stuff hopefully soon. I said I was gonna draw but I was just chilling these past few days. I'll get into a drawing mood sometime this week...
F: DO ITTTT. HE WOULD LOOK SO GOOD WITH THIS HAIR DOWN UGHHH
Me: Something inspired by this <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also want to draw Judar with his hair down at some point like JESUS my cat sons look so good with their hair down. It's in my drawing to-do list.
F: Ugh he's such a sexy man
Me: RIGHT he looks so good with his hair down... Augh...
Me: I thought of how cute it'd be if she plays with his hair and runs her hands through his hair while his hair is down and if she puts his hair into little twintails
I can imagine Ene going like ("Looks like he's just gotten up… He looks cute with bedhead……")
F: Kuroha probably lets his hair down then sleeping (he isn't obligated to sleep, but let me dream)
Me: Ene ties his hair into small twintails... And then his snakes that are curled around him go like 💖✨
The idea of Ene playing with his little snakes is cute honestly
F: > I thought of how cute it'd be if she plays with his hair
Braid it and suddenly he's Saeru 💥
Me: Technically both forms are Black Konoha / Saeru but I get what you mean.
The MR2 (Manga Route 2) version has the scorpion tail looking braids in the back
Tumblr media
F: Wondering how many times they've bonded with each other to the point that Saeru's little snakes have registered Ene as a "2nd owner" because Kuroha's scent is all over her
Me: HWHDHSHDSHS. God that's so cute...
Ok, so snakes flick their tongues to collect chemicals in the air and pick up the scents of prey.
Reminds me of that KuroEne idea I had before where Saeru's snakes flick their tongues and wrap around and curl around Ene's sleeves out of curiosity.
They also do this to ground themselves around their owners for a sense of security (wrapping themselves around their owners)
And it's because Kuroha/Saeru's scent is all over her.
And Saeru goes like, "They're curious about you... It’s because my scent is all over you."
And Ene reacts like this.
Tumblr media
Also he has a heightened sense of smell due to being a snake, and can also rebuild his body with Awakening Eyes to have improved senses (like a snake) for his human body, so he'd definitely be aware of it and be so smug about that fact
Yeah like I love imagining Saeru lying in bed next to Ene watching Ene "sleep" with having the android body go into sleep/hibernate mode...
Me: Observing how serene her face looks. I do imagine he watches her for a while
Eepy bunny gf going snork mimimimi 💤😴
F: I just imagine them cuddling. Big spoon Kuroha :3

Fanfic Ratings!: - Time Loops - Soulmates - Monster AUs (half/all the ship is mermaids, dragons, demons, whatever)
Time Loops: B! I really really enjoy time loops, I just don't spend much time Reading them - which I might change actually 👀 There's a lot of potential in them, and I like them best when they're taken in a weird direction, like subverting other common tropes like "The power of love/friendship will save you" or doing everything perfect etc., etc. But I also like when those happen too! :3
Soulmates: D - I have a lot of strong opinions about soulmates as a concept which basically boil down to This Would Change A Lot of Things about the World, and if that's not worldbuilt into the story, I'm not interested. If it's just a singular/ethereal/unproven soulmates thing like the Red Thread? All over that lol, but it's more set dressing than Plot if you get me. Things like first word-tattoos, or hearing your soulmates' thoughts, or feeling what they feel, or yes Omegaverse true pairs - full of potential! But I don't! Like it! Generally!! I think it's that I feel icky about One Person Ever (abusive True Pairs really turned me off of Omegaverse), maybe if I hunt down some polygamous Soulmates I'll feel better about it lol
Monster AU: A - I love monsters! ♥ Of all kinds! I have a lot of faves in this category (I'm also including aliens in this because - apart from the obvious lol - I really enjoy non-human alien pairings :D Bug aliens are some of my favourites ♪), including monster/monster! I haven't read it for a while but there's one that's a drider/mermaid pair and they're super cute <3 I also like when the monster is a manifestation of self-something-negative and turns into self-love hehe ♥
#Woah an original post#Ask#Ask me#Fanfiction writers are so cool they can look at a trope and be like I Am Going to play this Completely Straight#And then that same person or a different person can be like I Am Going to Turn This On Its Head#How cool ♪#Uh oh tho my trapcard of soulmates lol#I wrote the outline for a soulmate concept at one point and it completely changed the biology of the human-adjacents#I haven't picked it up for a while so I don't remember much but it made for a very clear divide between Paired and Unpaired people#I dunno there's just - it's probably also the amatonormativity as well that just kinda squicks me out lol#Aroace people already aren't treated well in a world where soulmates Aren't Proven!! What would it be like for them there :(#I think it would be worse I do Not imagine a queer utopia in a world where Soulmates Happen#A magic class divide with external signifiers - people would be discriminated against and jfkdlsafd#The ships being cute and the harmless fun or even interesting consequences get a bit overshadowed in my mind :')#Again just gotta go looking for a version that resonates with me ig haha#I don't know what I'd do to fix those problems for me - if I knew I'd make it! But I haven't found it yet#And then monsterfuckers hehehe <3 That one's easy!#Although I also have my own issues with it but that's a me thing lol - for other people it's wonderful and perfect and I love it!#Sneaking in my selfcest agenda in there as well lol#The potentials are limitless! Hehe <3#Ty for the ask :D Fun!! <3

SUMMARY | you and seungcheol’s marriage is hanging on by a thread. separate rooms, broken conversations, and barely any contact, it's clear that what you once had is slipping away. desperate for a second chance, you both turn to couples therapy, but when intimacy—or the lack of it—becomes the topic of conversation, everything changes.

Tumblr media
you woke up to yet another feeling of cold sheets beside you. the sun peeking through the curtains, the cool breeze of air conditioning meeting your skin. you shivered at the sensation. you patted seungcheol’s side of the bed, knowing you would be disappointed yet again. your eyes fluttered open, the sight of neatly tucked sheets on the opposite side of the bed made your heart heavy. as if he hadn’t slept there at all.
for months now, your marriage had a cloud looming over it. love that was once warm had grown cold and silent, reduced to taking care of household necessities and meaningless small talk. you couldn’t remember the last time you felt comforted by your husband of three years. and even if you did, the memory wouldn’t bring any comfort.
seungcheol’s career was at its peak. he was a few steps closer to getting promoted to a higher position at the firm he worked at. of course, along with this almost promotion, he had to sacrifice spending time with you. he was never home most days of the week. and if he were home, he would instead be resting and catching up on whatever sports he watched on tv.
needless to say, you were getting tired of that routine. you felt lonely. you tried to keep yourself busy with work or even joining a pilates class, but every corner reminded you of how much you missed your husband. the sight of other wives being picked up from work or how some husbands would join their wives for workouts. the feeling was gnawing at your chest.
you and seungcheol didn’t fight. in fact, you barely even talked. you resorted to cooking his favorite meals–which were mostly piling up in the fridge because he was never home–and steaming his suits for him. the silence that gathered in your home was louder than any argument could ever be.
it was strange, living together, yet he felt farther than when he went on his business trips.
you loved seungcheol. you were so in love with him that the thought of losing him terrified you. but sometimes you wonder if love alone was enough to hold your marriage together. you often thought about what went wrong, questioning if you ever did something to make him lose interest in you.
you sighed, pulling the covers off you to prepare for the day. after showering and brushing your teeth, you headed to the kitchen to make lunch. the silent air greeting you as you walked through your shared apartment. you decided to make coffee for your husband, even if deep down you knew it would just grow cold. you wanted to show your affection for him somehow.
you took a sip of coffee from your cup, the bitterness lingering longer than usual. you glanced at the clock, seeing it was almost time for your therapy appointment.
it was your idea to attend couples’ therapy, seeing it as a last resort to salvage your crumbling marriage. when you first suggested it to seungcheol, he was hesitant and weary about the idea of running to another person about your problems. but seeing that it would mean a lot to you, and he didn’t want to put up a fight, he agreed to give it a try.
you hadn’t seen seungcheol since the previous morning when he hastily left for work. bidding you goodbye with a tired smile when he left you alone in the kitchen. a small part of you was worried he had forgotten about the appointment, not wanting to be disappointed, so you decided to send him a text.
wifey <3: hi, just wanted to remind you about our appointment at 2 pm
you stared at the screen, fingers dancing anxiously as you awaited his response.
cheolie <3: yea, i'll meet u there
that was it. no greeting, no apology for not coming home the night before. you pursed your lips at his response. feeling somewhat disappointed with his nonchalance. you convinced yourself that he was preoccupied with his career, too busy to send you a proper response. but nevertheless you decided to brush it off, tucking your phone in your bag as you got ready to head out.
when you arrived at the clinic, you couldn’t help but glance around the waiting area to find a glimpse of your husband. but to your dismay, you were the first one to arrive. you took a seat in one of the empty chairs, scrolling mindlessly through your phone in an attempt to ignore the tightening feeling in your chest.
exactly a minute before the clock struck 2, the doors swung open, and seungcheol walked in. his hair was messy, bags surrounded his eyes, and his shoulders slumped. he looked like hell, you couldn’t help but wonder if this was affecting him more than it was affecting you. his eyes landed on you and he made his way towards you, sinking in the seat beside you.
“hey.” he said softly, eyes barely meeting yours. hearing his voice reminded you how much you missed him.
“hi.” your eyes scanning him. you heart fluttered at the proximity between the two of you. you weren’t sure whether you were just touch deprived or you just missed your husband too much–it was probably a mix of both–but the thought of having him close to you made your head slightly dizzy. your mouth opened to speak but decided against it. you wanted to tell him that you were glad he made it and how much it mattered to you. but words felt too heavy to speak, so you enjoyed the silent company he provided instead.
the therapist’s door opened, and a nurse emerged, calling his and yours’ last name. you both stood up, walking inside the room side-by-side, hands almost grazing each other.
you and seungcheol settled on the couch in front of the therapist. she offered you a soft smile, eyes flicking between the two of you.
“hi, mr. and mrs. choi. how are you two feeling today?” she asked, her tone gently with a hint of curiosity.
your eyes shifted to seungcheol, wanting to see if he would speak first. he shifted in his seat, clearing his throat. “it’s been… a busy week.” he let out, eyes glancing between you and the therapist.
your lips formed into a frown, fingers fiddling with each other. “it has been tough. recently i’ve been feeling like we’ve been living separate lives despite sharing the same space.” you forced yourself to speak, the words falling out of your mouth before you could even comprehend them. “i’m afraid that if we let it happen for too long, we might lose each other in the process.”
you could feel seungcheol’s gaze on you, his once tired eyes growing soft from taking you in. he could tell you were extremely upset, your lips quivering and your hands playing with one another–which you only did when you were visibly upset. he wanted to reach for your hand, to provide you with comfort. but his cowardness was taking over him.
she leaned forward, her voice soft but firm. “i see. this must be incredibly difficult for both of you.” her eyes flickered between the two of you. “if you both want to reconnect, we need to address the emotional and physical barrier forming between you.”
you felt a lump form in your throat at her words. you glanced at seungcheol only to find him staring at you. his expression was guarded and unreadable. you felt tiny under his gaze, not used to the intensity of his eyes on you.
the therapist cleared her throat, drawing both of your attention to her. “the effort you two took to meet me today is a sign that you both want to save this relationship, but it seems that there’s a lot of distance–both emotional and physical.” you shifted in your seat at her words. you couldn’t deny the truth; it had been a while since you had a proper conversation with seungcheol, let alone a moment of intimacy. “when was the last time you two… shared a moment of true closeness?” her question was left open. still, you and seungcheol know her meaning was leading to one thing.
your cheeks burned slightly at the thought of it. it had been months since you last shared a bed, weeks since he last held you close; you couldn’t even remember the last time you had sex. you glanced at your husband, wondering if he felt the same embarrassment or if the thought of this issue would bring him back to you.
seungcheol let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, a hand rummaging through his hair. “i-i don’t know, it has been a while.” he admitted, voice so soft you barely caught on to what he was saying. “i’ve been too caught up with stuff at work, i don’t think we’ve shared a bed in a while.” hearing him admit your problems made your heart ache. he was capable of acknowledging his mistakes, yet he made no effort to correct them.
she gave you both a sympathetic look. “it’s not uncommon for couples under this kind of strain to lose touch emotionally and physically. often, intimacy is the first thing to slip, but it’s also one of the most important bridges to reconnecting. i’d like to encourage you both to try spending time together, maybe even share the same bed, and just… see how that feels.”
the suggestion lingered in the air. silence erupting from the two of you as you processed her words. glancing at seungcheol, whose gaze was fixated on the floor while it seemed like he was in deep thought. seungcheol lifted his head, facing you briefly, his eyes filled with vulnerability for the first time in a long time. you caught your bottom lip between your teeth, nodding at your therapist while sending her a soft smile.
the session ended with an agreement to try. hoping that the words you heard today were a head start to fixing your crumbling marriage.
seungcheol mentioned that he had to return to work but promised to be home early. without having a choice, you went separate ways and decided to go home. your heart was heavy on the drive home. you weren’t sure how he took the session today and all you wanted was to talk to him, to hold him, for him to remind you that everything would be okay and that he loved you.
as the afternoon turned into evening, you couldn’t help but pace around the apartment. you already tried everything to keep your mind off of what happened today, but it was nearly impossible. your habit of cleaning every surface took place, every inch of the house spotless as you awaited your husband’s return. even catching up on your favorite series couldn’t help you keep your mind at ease.
you found yourself checking your phone every so often, the time taunting you as it nearly reached 7 pm and there were still no signs of seungcheol. you sighed, feeling a twinge of disappointment form in your heart. not wanting to feel the empty space of the house any longer, you decided to get ready for bed.
after taking a shower and doing your skincare, exhaustion begins to seep through your body. you felt stupid, stupid to think that seungcheol wanted it to work as much as you did. you started to accept that maybe he no longer needed you, no longer felt the same affection he had for you when you first started going out.
you lay in bed, going under the covers as tears escaped your eyes. the memories of you and your husband’s early days haunting you, wondering where it all went wrong.
you hadn’t noticed that you cried yourself to sleep. the sound of rustling around awoke you from your slumber. with heavy eyes, you tried to make out the source of the noise.
“fuck.” seungcheol whispered as he dropped his phone that had his flashlight on as he tried to navigate the room in the dark.
“cheol?” you mumbled, hand rubbing your eye as you sat in bed. seungcheol turned to face you with an apologetic look on his face.
“y/n!” he said, surprised, guilty that he had woken you up. “did i wake you? i’m sorry, i was trying to find a change of clothes.”
you leaned over the bedside table, turning on the lamp to provide light for him. eyes secretly glancing at the time, seeing that it was only 8 pm. “don’t apologize, this is your room too.” you said, but it felt more like a reminder than a statement; it had been so long since he slept here with you.
without saying a word, he stepped towards the bed, sitting on the edge while his back faced you. his shoulders were tense; you could tell he had much on his mind.
you watched with worried eyes as he sighed before he turned to face you. “i’m sorry, y/n.” his gaze was soft, lips dry as he mustered up the courage to speak to you. you inched towards him in bed, sitting directly in front of his body that was turned to you. “i know i’ve been… absent these past couple of weeks, months even. and your head was probably filled with thoughts about what was going on, and i-“ he gulped, tears forming in his eyes. it had been so long since he opened his feelings to you since he looked at you with warm eyes and honesty. the nights you spent alone and mornings waking up next to an untouched bed flashed before you. “i was trying to prove something… to myself, to you.” he admitted, his eyes filled with shame and regret. still, you listened to his words intently. “i thought that if i kept my head down and focused on work, i could finally give us this picture-perfect life that you deserve. and i-i thought you’d be okay with waiting.”
you took a moment to register his words. your fingers absentmindedly fiddling with one another–which he caught. you hadn’t been okay. the loneliness swallowed you these past few months, and his physical distance from you only made it worse. you missed him. you missed his scent, his touch–his hand on your back as you slept, the feeling of his arms around your shoulders, the way he pulled you close in his sleep. you missed the feeling of his soft lips, the feeling of his hands on your body. it had been so long since you felt good.
“you have no idea how hard it’s been, seungcheol.” you started, voice almost trembling as you spoke. “going to bed alone, having no clue if you’d even come home to me. i felt like i was losing you, little by little.”
“god, no.” for the first time in forever, seungcheol reached for your hands instinctively. comfort rushing through your body by his touch. he held your hands tightly, his eyes pleading. “i thought i was doing this for us, y/n, but i was being so selfish. i pushed you away. i pushed us away.” his voice cracked, pain written all over his face. “i missed you. i missed everything about you. i missed us.” he admitted, his thumb gliding over your hands in an attempt to provide solace. “i didn’t want to fail you, y/n.”
his eyes shut, a tear slipping down his cheek. you reached out to cup his face, your thumb wiping away his tears. you felt him lean against your touch, making your heart ache. you couldn’t remember the last time he had been this vulnerable with you. you could see how deeply he felt the loss, even if he had hidden it from you.
seungcheol’s eyes fluttered opened, his voice barely above a whisper. “i promise i’ll make up for the lost time. i want to show you that i’m here and i’m sorry. you’re not losing me.”
his words impacted you harder than you had expected, providing you with both comfort and hurt. it felt silly to be so relieved by his simple promise. but after longing for him for so long, you couldn’t help it. it was exactly what you were waiting to hear. the assurance from him was more than enough to give you ease.
instead of saying anything, you leaned forward and rested your forehead against his. he exhaled softly at your touch. god, you missed him. it meant everything to you that he was here. actually here.
“cheol.” you mumbled, eyes shutting. “i missed you so much.”
you felt him nod lightly. “i know, angel.” hearing his pet name for you flooded you with warm memories. “i missed you, too. more than you could imagine.” his hand slid to the back of your neck. you pulled away from his forehead, eyes staring up at him as he rubbed the skin. slightly shivering at his touch as it reached down into the parts of you that had felt cold and empty for so long. “let me make up for the lost time.” his voice was deep as his gaze on you darkened.
your eyes fluttered open, gaze falling to his lips. you let your hands slide down his shoulder, almost pulling his body close to you. he leaned closer to you, his breath fanning your face, lips brushing against yours. you melted into his touch as he connected his lips with yours. your hands finding their way to his chest as the kiss deepened, feeling his heartbeat beneath your fingertips. it reminded you that he was actually here, and you weren’t alone as you had felt for all those months.
seungcheol wrapped his arms around your waist as he laid you on the bed, your back meeting the soft sheets as he climbed between your legs. his thigh rubbing against your core that was growing warm with his every touch. feeling the tension between you dissipate with each kiss and touch. the gap between the two of you shrinking as he showed you just how much he missed you.
his fingers made their way to the hem of your shirt, pulling away from your lips to tug the fabric off your body, leaving your upper half naked. he groaned at the sight of you, reminding him how much he missed seeing your body. “god, i missed you.” he whispered before leaning down and pressing his lips to yours. moaning when his hand slipped between your legs, hand cupping your pussy that was growing wet at his mere touch. your body craving him more than you anticipated.
“cheol, i need you.” you whimpered against his lips as his fingers traced over your clothed core. desperation lacing from your voice made him grow hard against his suit. feeling his hard-on against your thigh. your hands reached up to undo his tie before unbuttoning his shirt. he hovered over you to give you more access, sliding the shirt off once you were done. you shamelessly checked him out, running your fingers over his chiseled chest. you almost forgotten how much you loved his body.
seungcheol hooked his fingers around the waistband of your shorts and underwear. sliding them down your legs, feeling your arousal sticking to the fabric. in a swift movement, he inched his body down the bed until his head was in between your thighs, face dangerously close to your throbbing pussy. he took a whiff, your familiar scent welcoming him. “you smell amazing, baby.” his arm hooked around and over your thigh, pulling your body close to him. bringing two fingers up to your entrance, collecting your arousal, and spreading it up to your clit. “so wet and needy for me.”
you moaned at his touch, hips bucking upwards as you tried to get more friction but his grip around you prevented you from moving. he softly smiled at your state, wasting no time in pressing his tongue against your clit. you gasped, hand flying down to grip his hair.
seungcheol ran his tongue up and down your folds, lips sucking on your clit, occasionally flicking his tongue over the sensitive bud. the sudden movements had your back arching off the bed, hand gripping the sheets beneath you as his tongue lapped your hole. “f-feels so good.” you whimpered.
his free hand snaked around your body, his thumb circling your clit while his tongue fucked your entrance. the sensation driving you crazy as you let out curses. he knew your body all too well. he knew exactly how to push you over the edge even after all these months.
“my pretty girl. i bet your pussy was waiting for me, hm?” he hummed against your folds, the vibrations sending shocks throughout your body. you lifted your head to meet his gaze, his eyes flickering to yours. maintaining eye contact, he slipped his fingers down your core, abruptly inserting two of them inside you. you could barely let out words once you felt his digits curl inside you. he beamed once he saw you writhe beneath his touch, glad that you weren’t that disconnected from each other in every way.
seungcheol pressed his mouth against your clit, sucking on the bud as his fingers relentlessly fucked your hole. thrusting them in and out of you in addicting movements. your hips jerk up from the overwhelming pleasure. toes curling as you felt a knot form in your stomach.
“p-please, cheolie, i want to cum.” your voice shaking as he continued his movements. your hand reaching up to your breast, squeezing them as you felt your orgasm forming.
“let it out, angel.” he whispered against your clit, sucking on it harshly to the point tears fill your eyes. without warning, you came undone with his fingers in you, cursing his name. your insides clenching around his digits as his movements slowed down. you head thrown back against the mattress as you let out shaky breaths.
seungcheol detached his mouth from your clit, pulling his fingers away before entrapping them with his lips. savouring your cum to account for the many months that went by without tasting you. “my good girl.”
seungcheol kneeled between your legs, his cock hard against his stomach–you hadn’t even noticed he took his pants off. you lifted your head to face him, mouth watering at the sight. nearly forgetting how big and thick his cock was. you wrapped your fingers around his length, pumping it lightly before stroking it. his hips inching towards you as he leaned into your touch. your thumb running over his tip that was leaking with precum. you looked at him through your lashes, but his eyes were already dark and focused on you.
“fuck, baby.” he grunted once you jerked him off, but his hand reached for your wrist to prevent your movement. “stop teasing, princess. i need my cock inside your pussy.” his confession made sparks shoot throughout your body and onto your cunt.
seungcheol positioned his body between your legs, gripping his cock in one hand, aligning it with your entrance. you couldn’t help the moans that escaped your lips as he glided the tip of his cock along your folds, spreading your wetness before sinking into you. you gasped at the size of his length. your fingernails digging (careful not to hurt him) into his shoulders as you adjusted to his size.
“i know, baby.” his voice soothed you, hushing you as tears threatened to escape your eyes. fuck, you forgot how his dick felt inside you. “you’re taking me so well, angel.” he pressed kisses all over your face.
once he was balls deep in you, he stayed still for a moment. letting you get used to the sensation, he reached for your hand, intertwining his fingers with yours.
“m-move, please.” your voice barely a whisper. “you’re so big, cheolie.”
seungcheol growled at your words, slowly starting to move his hips. “missed your pussy, baby.” you felt every inch of his cock in you, insides splitting from his size. your insides burning, but it felt so fucking good. you bucked your hips, meeting his thrusts.
he took this as a sign to gradually increase his speed, his hips rocking into you faster. your legs instinctively wrapped around his waist, pulling him even closer to you, scared that if you let go, he’ll disappear again.
the proximity allowing him to bury his cock deeper into you. in a swift motion, he pulled his cock out before slamming his hips against yours. sounds of skin slapping filling the room, along the moans that emit from you and the groans that escape his throat. he buried his face into your neck, leaving soft kisses against the skin.
“you feel so fucking good, shit.” his hand sneaked to your breast, taking your nipple in between his fingers, circling the sensitive bud. the rough pad of his thumb and index adding to the overwhelming pleasure. “fuck, i’m never leaving you alone ever again.”
you don’t know if it was his words or the pleasure from his cock that brought tears to your eyes. he pulled away from your neck, towering over you as he held eye contact with you. “my pretty wife, i love you so much.”
“i-i love you, cheol.” you breathed out, feeling him twitch inside you from your confession. the words felt foreign from your lips, but the feeling was reeling in so many memories. he picked up his pace again, relentlessly fucking you as if to remind you that he’s here now.
seungcheol leaned forward, capturing your lips with his. the kiss was more passionate and needy, his taste leaving you intoxicated. his hand inching down to your clit, rubbing circles on the nub. the stimulation building your orgasm even more. he knew you were getting close when you clenched around him, driving him to fuck into you deeper and harder.
“are you gonna cum for me, angel?” his voice deep as he watched you squirm underneath his touch. he latched his lips to your chest, sucking on the skin softly, enough to surely leave a mark. the overwhelming amount of pleasure he was providing was enough to drive you insane. the coil in your stomach begging to be released. “cum all over my cock, baby, let me feel you.” with the encouragement of his words, you released all over his cock. stars clouding your vision as you ride out your high. “s-shit, baby.” the sight of you cumming on his cock was enough to send seungcheol over the edge. with a few final thrusts, his warm seed burst inside you, painting your walls white, groans filling the room.
seungcheol slowly retreated his cock from you, his cum spilling from your pussy. you winced at the sticky feeling. he pressed a quick kiss on your forehead before he disappeared into the bathroom and grabbed a towel which he ran under cold water. he returned and immediately nursed you, dragging the towel up and down your entrance which made you giggle.
“thank you.” you mumbled as he went to return the towel in the bathroom.
“anything for my beautiful wife.” seungcheol grabbed a shirt from the closet, handing it to you because he knew how much you loved wearing his shirts to bed. even helping you slip it on your body. your heart warmed at the sight of him taking care of you. you barely noticed that he climbed into bed and pulled you close to his chest. “i told you, i’ll make it up to you, my love.” he whispered, pressing a kiss on the side of your head.
you could only nod at his words, feeling slumber take over you. hearing him whisper how much he loved you before falling unconscious.
-
you woke up to the warmth of a body shifting beside you, feeling the familiar weight of your husband’s arm around your waist. the soft morning light greeted you as you opened your eyes. you glanced at his sleeping figure, taking in the sight of his relaxed face, lashes resting against cheeks and lips slightly parted. he was still here. your heart was pounding so loudly that you were sure he'd hear it if he were awake.
your hand reached up to brush away the strands of hair falling onto his face. but before you could do so, his eyes fluttered open, a soft smile forming on his lips as he focused on you.
“g’morning.” seungcheol mumbled, voice deep and husky, still laced with sleep.
“good morning.” you responded, unable to hide the chipper in your voice. you rested your hand on his bare chest, rubbing the skin comfortingly, slightly scared that you were in a dream.
his hand fell to your back, pulling your body close to him. “i meant it, you know.” he whispered, his thumb rubbing circles along your back. “i don’t want us to fall apart again.”
your chest tightened at his words, but this time, the ache was different–it was hopeful. “neither do i.” leaning your head against his neck, softly kissing the skin.
“you have me forever, baby.” he said, a promise that felt as grounding as his touch on your body.
you closed your eyes, letting the warmth of his embrace engulf you. comfortable silence taking over as you lay there in each other’s arms. you both knew this was just the start of finding your way back to one another.

thank you for requesting ❤︎ fem, 1k
“What are you looking at?”
You duck your head. “Nothing,” you say, giving Avery a little scowl. “Why don’t you mind your business?”
Completely unused to your aggression, Avery bursts into giggles and points at you. “Silly,” she says, kneeling by your feet. She grabs her Barbie from your lap and gives her a wiggle. “Why don’t you mind your manners?” she says through a pout.
“Nosey girl.” Avery nearly landed you in hot water. You retrieve Dove’s Dotty Dolly from the floor and stand her in front of Barbie. “Don’t be such a tattle.”
“I am not!” Avery denies.
“Then let’s talk about something else.”
“Like what?”
“Like where ladybugs come from.”
Avery’s eyes go wide and bright. “The dirt, mom.”
You’re not ten minutes into a skit on ladybug-Barbie when another presence is making itself known beside you. “Hi,” Steve says, smile in his eyes as he crosses his legs beneath himself, sitting squarely left of you and right of Avery.
“Hi, daddy.”
Steve nods at her hands. “What are we playing?”
“We’re doing Barbie as a ladybug-girl,” Avery says, leaning into Steve’s thigh. He rests a hand on her back and she begins to melt into his hold, until she’s folding funny across him and he’s hugging her shoulders.
“That sounds fun,” he says.
“Do you want to play?”
“Please. But don’t cheap out on me, I want a Barbie with clothes and shoes.”
Avery looks like she might roll her eyes. “Dad, none of them have shoes.”
“I put all their shoes back on like, two days ago,” he says, his outrage lost to her hair as she shoves her face into his chest. Steve’s easy smile calms. “What’s the matter, baby?” he asks. “You need a nap?”
Avery mumbles.
Steve leans down to put his ear next to her lips. “What? Tell me again, honey.”
Avery whispers into his ear. Steve glances at you from over her head, his face set in an expression you have trouble deciphering. He presses his nose to her hair, says, “Thank you for telling me.”
“Wait, what’s wrong?” you ask. If Avery’s not feeling well, you want to know.
Steve releases Avery from his hug and she gives you an owlish stare that clears things up for you quickly, worse when Steve says, “Oh, nothing, just– My Avery says you got a staring problem. Care to explain?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You catch Avery’s eye, mouthing ‘tattle’ as she giggles and flees the living room altogether.
“Avery said you’re looking at me and asking her not to tell me.” He crosses his arms over his chest. “So. What gives?”
You shrug and lean away from him, the top half of you coming to rest on the big bean bag that the girls use for naps. It flusters beneath you.
Steve leans back too. Your eyes love the cut of his t-shirt and the jeans hugging his legs, his pink-kitty socks and his hair curling at the nape of his neck. But the thing you like most, the thing that’s caught your attention all day, to your own surprise, is the dark stubble around his mouth. Steve has a ‘stache, and you don’t want him to know how much you like it.
So weird. The girls hate it because it makes their kisses scratchy, but you don’t mind it. Didn’t mind it on your neck last night, and won’t mind when he kisses your cheek at dinner. If he showers tonight he’ll probably shave, too, and you won’t mind, you like him clean shaven. He always has been.
Who knew he could find new things for you to crush on?
Steve lowers his voice. “What, are you, like, pent up?” he asks with a laugh.
You shove his knee with your foot until he grabs your ankle. “Shh!” you laugh. “No, I’m not, thank you very much. You think you’re such a lady killer.”
“Well, you like me,” he says.
“That’s astute. How’ve you worked that one out?”
“Oh, you’re funny,” he says, pulling at your leg, dragging it over his. He pulls at you until you’re splayed over his lap, giggling at your limpness and the quiet thump of your head on the rug as you go flat. Gentle, he works his hands behind your back, leans in, and gathers you into his arms. One minute you’re laying down and then done, there, you’re in his lap.
“Steve…” you say, laughing, letting your hands rest on his hips.
“Let me look at you,” he says, lifting his chin.
You stay very still.
He rubs the small of your back with his knuckles as his eyes flit from one plane of your face to another. You shift a little when your knees begin to protest, but Steve doesn’t flinch, waiting for you to settle again before he meets your eyes. “Why were you staring at me?” he asks finally.
“I think you look handsome today,” you confess.
“Really?”
“Mm-hm. I like this,” you say, raising a finger to his lip. You touch the hair there and draw a line down to his chin. “The last time you grew out your scruff I didn’t like it, remember? But I don’t know. I sort of love it.” You press your forehead to his chin, then, fingers tied up in his t-shirt.
You’d forgotten you weren’t gonna tell him.
Steve doesn’t make fun of you. He presses a kiss like a light touch to your cheek, hand on the small of your back encouraging you closer to him.
“That’s why you’re staring?” he asks.
“No, I don’t know. I guess I wanted you to kiss me.”
“I can kiss you. You don’t have to want it without saying anything,” he admonishes, bemusement in his voice and the slip of his fingers running under your t-shirt to tickle your lower back.
You straighten up from his touch and he chases you for a kiss.
“Scratchy,” you murmur into his mouth.
Smile to smile, Steve kisses you soundly, laughs against you, the itch of his nice-silly moustache under your nose. You almost sneeze.
“I can get rid of it,” he says.
Oh, honey, you nearly say, laughing into his cheek. “I like it, just, your girls don’t handle change well.”
“They’ll get used to it,” he says surely, though you both know he’ll be in the bathroom with a razor and a rag the next time one of his girls refuses a kiss.

the room smelled like rain.
not in the fresh, new-beginnings kind of way, but in the way that clung to damp clothes and old wounds.
it seeped through the cracks of the windowpane, curling around the tension like a silent spectator. outside, the city pulsed—headlights cutting through the mist, distant sirens wailing, the soft patter of rain against the glass an unwanted metronome to the argument unfolding within these four walls.
“you don’t fucking get it,” your boyfriend's voice cut sharp through the quiet, raw and exhausted, an edge to it that he never used on you before. not like this.
his fingers gripped the bridge of his nose, his other hand planted on his hip like he was trying to physically hold himself together. “you don’t—god, y/n, you don’t understand what it’s like to carry this.”
you stood by the doorway, arms crossed so tightly against yourself it almost felt like a shield. the air was thick with it—frustration, exhaustion, love buried under layers of hurt.
you felt it like a weight pressing against your ribs.
how it had started.
the room was dark save for the faint glow of his laptop screen. the hum of the air conditioner filled the space, masking the silence that had grown between you two over the last few days.
you had sat across from him, knees pulled to your chest on the worn-out couch in the room. the atmosphere was suffocating—a mix of tension and exhaustion—and you weren’t sure when the comfort of this small, cramped room had turned into a battlefield.
he was hunched over his desk, headphones perched around his neck, fingers frozen above his keyboard. you could see the subtle tremble in his hands, the way his shoulders sagged ever so slightly despite his usual perfect posture.
chris—was tired. that much was clear. but what stung was how he wouldn’t let you in.
“you’ve been sitting there for hours,” you had said softly, your voice hesitant, almost afraid of breaking the fragile calm that hung between you.
“i’m working,” he replied curtly, not bothering to meet your gaze.
it wasn’t the first time you had this conversation, but tonight it felt different. there was an edge to his voice that hadn’t been there before. you could feel the ache in your chest building, a familiar burn of frustration mixed with concern.
“you’ve been working for days,” you shot back, louder this time. “you barely eat, you barely sleep, and—”
“i’m fine,” he interrupted, his tone sharp and clipped, his eyes finally meeting yours. there was something in his gaze—tired, distant, and defensive—that made you hesitate for a moment.
“you’re not fine, chan.”
the words hung in the air like a challenge. he exhaled sharply, running a hand through his messy hair. his laptop screen dimmed, signaling inactivity, and for a second, you thought he might actually listen. but then he turned his chair to face you, and the frustration etched across his face sent a chill down your spine.
“why do you always do this?” he snapped.
your heart sank. “do what?”
“this!” he gestured vaguely between the two of you. “this… nagging. you don’t get it, do you? this is my job. this is my life. i can’t just stop because you think i’m overworking myself.”
you blinked, his words cutting deeper than you expected. “i’m not.. nagging, chan. i’m worried about you. there’s a difference.”
“well, it doesn’t feel that way.”
the bitterness in his voice was like a slap to the face. you stared at him, disbelief and hurt warring within you. “do you even hear yourself right now?”
“yeah, i do!” he shot back, his voice rising. “i hear myself every damn day, y/n. and you know what? i’m sick of it. i’m sick of feeling like i have to explain myself to you all the time.”
your hands balled into fists, nails digging into your palms as you tried to steady your breathing. the room felt smaller, the walls closing in as his words echoed in your mind.
“explain yourself?” you repeated, your voice trembling. “i’m not asking for an explanation, chan. i’m asking for you to let me in. to let me help you.”
“help me with what?” he spoke, standing abruptly. the chair screeched against the floor, and the sudden movement startled you. “you can’t help me, y/n. no one can. this is my responsibility. my burden. not yours! and i don't need you worrying to add on to that weight!”
“don’t do that,” you shot back, voice steadier than you felt.
“don’t act like i don’t understand you, like i haven’t been here every single fucking night waiting for you to come home, waiting for you to remember i exist outside of your damn laptop and deadlines.” your breath hitched, but you swallowed it down, forcing your voice to stay level. “i do understand, chris. but you don’t let me in.”
chris let out a humorless laugh, shaking his head as he turned away, running a hand through his curls in frustration. his fingers were trembling.
you knew he hadn’t eaten properly today. you knew, the small, white snackbox you had packed his favorite rice in, was left untouched. you knew he hadn’t slept much either. but that didn’t change the fact that he was hurting you.
“you want me to let you in? fine.” he turned back to you, eyes dark with exhaustion, jaw tight.
“i have no time. none. i have a fucking comeback to prepare, songs that aren’t finished, choreography that isn’t final, members who rely on me, a company breathing down my neck—” he took a step closer, and even though he wasn’t yelling, his voice was thunder. “i don’t get to sit around and wait for my life to fall into place, y/n. i have to make it happen.”
his words hit like a gut punch. you flinched before you could stop yourself.
something in his expression shifted for half a second—guilt flashing behind the anger—but he didn’t stop. couldn’t stop.
“and what, huh? you want me to pause? to step away? to just—what? go on dates, lay in bed all day with you, pretend that none of this exists?” his voice cracked, his hands clenching into fists. “i can’t, y/n. i can’t afford to be selfish like that.”
you felt something splinter inside of you.
"wow," you whispered, blinking rapidly as you looked at him. "is that what you think this is? me asking you to be... selfish?" your voice was quiet, but it held the weight of everything you’d been holding back. "i have never asked you to choose me over your career, chan. never. but i wanted—no, i needed you to meet me halfway. to at least fucking try. but you didn’t. you never do.”
chan scoffed, rubbing his temple, pacing like he was barely keeping himself together. "you don’t get it, y/n. you never will."
and that—that—was what broke you.
your hands shook. you swallowed the lump in your throat, but your voice still wavered. "you don’t get it, chan. you don’t fucking get what it’s like to love someone who makes you feel like an afterthought. to go to bed alone every single night and wonder if you even cross their mind.” you exhaled shakily.
“i never asked you to give up your dreams for me. i just wanted to be a part of them. but i guess i was asking for too much.”
he let out another bitter laugh, his face twisting. "i make you feel like an afterthought? that’s rich, coming from someone who doesn’t have to live under this pressure." his voice rose, sharp and unrelenting.
"you don’t know what it’s like to have the weight of an entire fucking group and a partner on your shoulders. to feel like if you fuck up, you’re dragging everyone down with you." he was breathing heavily, shoulders shaking. “you think i don’t want to be with you? you think i choose this over you? i fucking hate this. i hate feeling like this. but i don’t have a choice.”
there it was. the breaking point.
your lip trembled, and you hated yourself for it. "you do have a choice, chan. you always did." you shook your head, voice barely above a whisper. "you just never chose me."
silence.
a ringing, deafening silence that made the rain outside sound like gunfire.
the crack in his voice didn’t go unnoticed, but it only fueled your own anger. “oh, and weight? is that what you think i’m trying to do? burden you?”
“that’s not what i meant—”
“then what did you mean?” you interrupted, standing as well. your voice was louder now, shaking but firm. the tension between you crackled like a live wire, and neither of you seemed willing to back down.
“i don’t know!” he shouted, his hands flying to his hair in frustration. “i don’t know, okay? i’m fucking tired, y/n. i’m tired of all of this.”
the silence that followed was deafening. you stared at him, your heart pounding in your chest, his words ringing in your ears. he didn’t mean it, you told yourself. he was just frustrated, just exhausted. but that didn’t make it hurt any less.
“all of this?” you repeated quietly, your voice barely above a whisper.
he froze, his eyes widening slightly as he realized what he had said. “no, i didn’t mean—”
“save it, chan,” you cut him off, your voice cold and flat. “you’ve made yourself perfectly clear.”
chan stared at you, eyes widening, as if only now realizing how deep the wound he had inflicted was. his lips parted slightly, and for the first time that night, his anger faltered. his hand twitched like he wanted to reach for you, to fix the damage, to take it all back. but he didn’t move.
you exhaled sharply, forcing yourself to look away. "i can’t do this anymore," you murmured, more to yourself than to him. your own words tasted like ash.
chan took a step closer, his voice softer now, desperate. “y/n—”
“i think we should take a break.”
the words left your mouth before you could stop them, and once they were out in the open, there was no taking them back.
chan inhaled sharply, like you had just physically struck him. his face crumpled for the briefest moment before he forced it into something unreadable. he nodded once, barely.
“fine,” he said. but it was not fine. none of this was fine.
you walked past him, your shoulder brushing his for the last time in weeks. and maybe, in some cruel way, you were both waiting—waiting for one of you to stop this, to say something, anything that could undo the damage.
but neither of you did.
and that was how it ended.
or, maybe, how it all began.
you turned away, grabbing your jacket from the couch and heading for the door. your vision blurred with unshed tears, but you refused to let them fall. not here. not now.
“thank you,” you stopped in the doorway, your back to him. your voice cracked as you spoke, the weight of the moment threatening to crush you. “really, for everything. i wish you nothing but happiness, christopher.”
the door closed behind you with a soft click, and the tears you had been holding back finally spilled over. the night air was cold against your skin as you stepped outside, but it did little to numb the ache in your chest.
you didn’t know how long you stood there, staring at the empty street, your mind replaying the argument over and over again. his words, your words, the pain and anger that had filled the room—it was all too much.
and yet, despite everything, you couldn’t stop loving him.
present time : the first snow.
the morning stretched itself thin across the sky, a pale, muted kind of light filtering in through the curtains. it was the kind of cold that bit through the windows, creeping into the cracks of the apartment like it had been waiting for permission to enter. the air felt heavier today, as if winter had fully settled into its place, pressing its weight into the walls, into the silence, into the empty spaces beside you.
you sat by the window, knees drawn up against your chest, your breath fogging up the glass. outside, snowflakes drifted lazily through the air, dancing in the quiet before settling onto the pavement below. the city looked softer like this—less like the endless rush of bodies and neon lights and more like something frozen in time. for a moment, just a moment, it almost felt peaceful.
almost.
but then the memories came creeping in. the way the first snow always meant something to the both of you. how he would drag you outside, laughing, even when you whined about the cold.
"come on, it’s tradition, babe, you can’t just sit inside like an old grandma."
how he’d cup his hands together, carefully forming a snowball, only to grin mischievously before pelting it straight at your shoulder. the way you’d chase after him, slipping and stumbling, both of you breathless from laughter, cheeks flushed pink from the cold.
and then—later. after the cold had seeped into your bones, after your fingers were numb from the snow, how you’d both tumble inside, shaking off your coats, limbs tangled together as you curled up by the fireplace.
the heat of the flames casting golden light across his face, the warmth of his arms wrapped securely around you. how he’d press lazy kisses to your temple, whispering in that quiet, tired voice of his,
you’re warm. stay like this forever.
you blinked. the snow outside blurred for a second before settling again into focus.
it had been weeks.
weeks since that night. weeks since you last heard his voice, felt the rough callouses of his fingertips against yours. the apartment had never been this quiet before. not really. not in a way that stretched into your bones like this.
you exhaled sharply, rubbing at your eyes before pushing yourself up from the chair.
no. stop it. get up.
the cold floor met your feet as you padded toward the bathroom. the water ran hot, steam curling against the mirror as you stepped into the shower, letting it scorch against your skin, washing away whatever remnants of sleep and memories still clung to you.
you let yourself stay there longer than usual, hands braced against the tile, watching the water swirl down the drain.
by the time you stepped out, the mirror was completely fogged over, your reflection nothing more than a blur.
you ignored it.
instead, you pulled on a sweater—thick, oversized, soft. paired it with jeans, boots, wrapped a scarf around your neck. routine. just keep moving.
the apartment felt emptier than usual as you moved through it, wiping down counters, straightening pillows, clearing dishes that didn’t even need clearing. you weren’t sure why you were cleaning so meticulously. maybe it was just something to do with your hands, something to keep yourself from thinking too much.
but even then, the silence pressed in. the absence of his voice. the way he used to hum under his breath while scrolling through his phone. the way he’d reach for you absentmindedly, fingers finding yours without even thinking.
you swallowed.
the clock on the wall read 10:42 am.
late. you needed to leave soon.
you grabbed your coat, slipping it over your shoulders, fingers fumbling with the buttons. your scarf was next, wrapped snugly around your neck, followed by your gloves. you caught your reflection in the mirror near the door and paused.
the sweater you had chosen—it was his.
you thought you had returned all of his belongings that stayed in your apartment.
his sweaters, hoodies, tees, sweats.
maybe this was the unlucky— or lucky one.
a quiet, humorless laugh escaped your lips.
of course it was.
you debated changing it. maybe you should. but then again… maybe it didn’t matter.
the streets were covered in a thin layer of snow as you stepped outside, the air crisp against your skin. your breath curled in white clouds, disappearing into the winter sky. people moved past you—some alone, some hand in hand, their laughter rising into the air. you pulled your coat tighter around yourself, shoving your hands into your pockets.
the restaurant— your restaurant, the empty place by the busy crossroads you'd bought a few years ago, was a few blocks away. a small, warm place you had always loved—your own little escape from the rest of the world. the bell above the door chimed softly as you stepped inside, warmth wrapping around you instantly.
you forced a small smile at the familiar faces, nodding in greeting.
routine.
just keep moving.
the warm, familiar scent of fresh bread and spices enveloped you as you stepped behind the counter, shrugging off your coat. the restaurant was alive in the way it always was at this time of the day—soft clatters of cutlery against ceramic plates, the low hum of conversation from occupied tables, the occasional burst of laughter from a corner booth.
it smelled like home, like routine, like something steady when everything else felt uncertain.
“morning, boss.”
you glanced up to see mira, one of the servers, leaning against the counter with a knowing smirk. she had been working here almost as long as you could remember, joined a few months after you started the restaurant chain, and she knew you well enough to read your moods before you even said a word.
“you’re late,” she teased, but there was no bite to her words.
“i’m not late,” you said, rolling your eyes as you tied your apron around your waist. “i just… took my time getting here.”
mira gave you a look—one that was far too perceptive for your liking—but didn’t press. instead, she just handed you a notepad. “table five wants a refill on their coffee, and table two asked about the special of the day.”
you took the notepad with a nod. “got it.”
and just like that, the day began.
the hours passed in a blur of movement and familiarity. you lost yourself in the rhythm of it—taking orders, pouring coffee, clearing tables, exchanging pleasantries with customers who had been coming here for years. the work was muscle memory at this point, your hands moving on autopilot while your mind drifted elsewhere.
somewhere in the middle of the lunch rush, as you wiped down the counter, jaehyun—one of the chefs, poked his head out from the back. “hey, y/n, you eating today or just running on caffeine and regrets?”
you snorted, shaking your head. “i’ll eat later.”
“you always say that.”
“i mean it this time.”
he narrowed his eyes. “you said that last time too.”
“i—okay, fine.” you held up your hands in surrender. “i’ll grab something when the rush dies down.”
he grumbled something under his breath before disappearing back into the kitchen, and mira smirked from where she was refilling a salt shaker.
“he’s got a point,” she said, raising an eyebrow. “when’s the last time you actually sat down and ate a meal?”
you waved her off, busying yourself with stacking plates. “i eat. at home.”
“uh-huh. sure.”
you didn’t have an answer to that, so you didn’t bother giving one.
the day continued. the restaurant buzzed with life—friends catching up over coffee, families sharing warm meals, couples leaning into each other, their conversations dipping into soft murmurs.
you liked this. you liked watching people exist in these little moments, as if nothing else outside of these walls mattered.
an older woman at table seven caught your eye as you passed by. she smiled kindly. “it’s nice seeing you again, dear.”
you blinked. “oh—thank you. it’s nice seeing you too.”
“you’ve looked a bit tired lately,” she observed, stirring her tea slowly. “make sure you’re taking care of yourself, alright?”
there was something about the way she said it—something warm, something familiar—that made your chest tighten unexpectedly.
you swallowed. “i will.”
you weren’t sure if that was a lie.
the evening arrived before you realized it, the once-busy restaurant now quiet as the last of the customers trickled out into the cold night. the staff began to clock out one by one, exchanging tired goodbyes as they pulled on their coats.
“you sure you don’t need help closing up?” mira asked, pausing at the door.
you shook your head, forcing a small smile. “i got it.”
she studied you for a moment before sighing. “alright. don’t stay too late.”
“i won’t.”
she gave you one last skeptical look before disappearing into the night, leaving you alone with the faint hum of the overhead lights and the distant sound of the wind outside.
you exhaled, running a hand through your hair.
the silence was heavier now.
slowly, methodically, you began the closing routine. you wiped down tables, stacked chairs, swept the floors, turned off the neon ‘open’ sign that flickered against the window. the motions were comforting in a way. predictable.
but when you finally locked the door and turned to face the empty restaurant, something about it felt unbearably lonely.
this place had always been warm, filled with laughter and conversation and life. but right now, standing here alone with nothing but the sound of your own breathing, it felt hollow.
you swallowed, staring at the spot where he used to sit when he came by to wait for you after his own schedule.
the memories came too easily. the way he’d lean back in the chair, arms crossed, a lazy grin on his lips as he watched you work.
you’re cute when you’re focused, he’d say. like, ridiculously cute.
you had always rolled your eyes at that, but—god, what you would give to hear it again.
shaking your head, you grabbed your coat and turned off the last of the lights.
the night was waiting.
and so was the silence.
. . .
the car was absurdly cold when you got in, the leather seats stiff from the winter air. you sighed, rubbing your hands together before gripping the steering wheel, the silence of the empty parking lot pressing against you.
the restaurant behind you was dark now, locked up for the night, its warmth left behind in the echo of distant laughter and clinking glasses.
you stared ahead for a moment, letting the weight of the day settle onto your shoulders. the exhaustion clung to you, heavy and unmoving, but there was something else beneath it—something quieter. something you didn’t want to name.
with a slow inhale, you turned the key in the ignition. the engine rumbled to life, the soft hum filling the car as headlights illuminated the frost-kissed windshield. you sat there for a beat longer, watching your breath fog up the glass.
then, finally, you pulled out onto the road.
the city stretched out before you, streetlights casting long shadows across the pavement. the roads weren’t as busy at this hour, but there was still movement—taxis weaving through lanes, pedestrians bundled up in coats, the occasional cyclist braving the cold.
the world kept moving, even when you felt stuck.
your fingers tapped absently against the steering wheel as the radio played low through the speakers. some old song, one you barely recognized. the melody was soft, almost lulling, the kind of tune that made your thoughts wander.
and they did.
“you’re always working.”
his voice was still so clear in your mind. that night, the argument—it played back in fragments, like scenes from a movie you couldn’t turn off.
“and what about you, chan? you act like you’re the only one trying here.”
your grip tightened. the memory of his voice, the sharpness of his words, the way frustration had tangled between you like something inevitable.
“maybe we need a break.”
you blinked hard. the traffic light ahead turned red, and you eased the car to a stop, exhaling as you leaned back against the seat.
the world outside the window blurred slightly, the glow of headlights streaking across the wet pavement. snow had started falling again, light and unhurried, swirling beneath the streetlights.
you used to love this time of year—the first snowfall, the way the city seemed to quiet under its weight.
and him.
you remembered the way he used to pull you into the cold, ignoring your protests as he dragged you into the snow-covered streets, laughter spilling from his lips like warmth against the winter air.
“you’re so dramatic,” you had grumbled, shivering in your coat.
“and you’re no fun,” he had teased, tugging you closer. “come on, just one snowball fight.”
“you say that every year.”
“and every year, darling, you lose.”
the memory made something inside you ache. the way he would wrap you in his arms afterward, pressing his cold nose against your cheek just to make you squirm.
the way you’d sit by the fireplace afterward, tangled together under thick blankets, sharing hot cocoa that he always made too sweet.
it had been easy, then.
before the late nights, before the exhaustion, before the words that had chipped away at what you had built together.
before you started feeling like you were losing him.
the light turned green.
you blinked, shaking your head as if to clear it, and pressed your foot against the gas pedal.
and then—
the world tilted.
a sickening crunch of metal. the sharp, jarring impact of force slamming into you. the violent, uncontrollable spinning.
for a split second, all you saw were headlights—blinding, swallowing everything in white—before everything blurred into chaos.
the sound was deafening. screeching tires, the shriek of twisting steel, car horns blaring, the distant shouts of people. the seatbelt dug into your chest, locking you in place as the car was thrown sideways. your vision swam, dizziness clawing at you, and then—
silence.
everything felt… far away.
the ringing in your ears was the only sound you could process, drowning out the panic outside. your vision blurred, the edges of the world darkening, swallowing up the streetlights, the movement, the shapes of people rushing toward you.
your fingers twitched, barely. your head lolled slightly to the side, and through the cracked windshield, you saw red and blue lights flashing in the distance.
voices.
faint. muffled.
“is she breathing?”
“call an ambulance—”
“stay with me, okay?”
you wanted to respond, to say something—anything—but the words didn’t come.
your eyelids felt heavier now. the weight of exhaustion, of impact, of something you didn’t want to name, pressed down on you, pulling you under.
somewhere in the distance, sirens wailed.
then—
darkness.
. . .
the world around you existed in fragments.
there was no time, no clear beginning or end—just moments bleeding into each other, slipping between consciousness and the heavy pull of unconsciousness. you weren’t awake, but you weren’t entirely gone either. you were somewhere, floating in the space between pain and oblivion.
the first thing you registered was the weightlessness, the peculiar sensation of being lifted, carried. the cold, biting wind was gone, replaced with the sterile scent of something clinical—alcohol, antiseptic, the faint metallic tang of blood.
voices. sharp, rushed. urgent.
"bp’s dropping—move!"
"we need to stabilize—"
"get her on the stretcher—"
there were hands on you, pressing against your limbs, holding you still. you wanted to move, to speak, to tell them that you were here, but your body refused to listen. it felt like trying to swim against a current that only dragged you further down.
the pressure of something tightening around your arm. the firm press of fingers against your wrist—checking, counting, assessing. the beeping of machines, rapid and rhythmic, like an anxious heartbeat.
"possible concussion—mild contusions—check for internal bleeding."
the sounds flickered in and out. you slipped again, deeper into the darkness, but not completely.
then—light.
harsh, fluorescent, searing through closed eyelids.
the movement stopped. the sensation of being lifted again, transferred. the scrape of wheels against tile. doors swinging open. more voices.
"pupils reactive—no immediate signs of severe trauma—"
"get an iv started."
the world tilted. the mattress beneath you was firmer than the seat of your car, colder than the pavement. a hand smoothed over your forehead, pushing back strands of hair matted with sweat. the touch was gentle, grounding.
"you're in the hospital," a voice said, distant but soothing. "we’re going to take care of you. just rest."
rest.
the word settled over you like a command, a lullaby. the beeping of the machines steadied. you let yourself be pulled under again.
when you resurfaced, it was slow.
a dull ache pulsed at the edges of your awareness, the type that came in waves—bearable, but constant. your body felt heavy, weighed down by exhaustion and something else.
the first thing you saw was the ceiling. white. sterile. unmoving.
then, your own hands—resting limply against stiff sheets, an iv taped to your wrist, an oxygen clip attached to your finger.
a hospital room.
the realization settled into your bones before you fully processed it. the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor, the faint hum of ventilation, the low murmur of voices outside the door—it was all unfamiliar.
your throat was dry. you swallowed, wincing at the soreness that stretched across your ribs, the dull sting blooming in your arm. not unbearable. but not comfortable either.
there was movement beside you.
a nurse.
she had kind eyes, the kind that made you feel like you weren’t alone in this too-bright, too-quiet place. she glanced at you, a small, reassuring smile appearing as she noticed you were awake.
"welcome back," she said softly, reaching to adjust something on the iv line.
you tried to speak—tried to ask what had happened, how long you had been here—but the moment your lips parted, she shook her head.
"don't strain yourself," she murmured, voice gentle but firm. "the doctor will come by soon, but for now, just rest. talking will only make it worse."
you frowned, but the protest never made it past your lips. even if it had, you doubted it would’ve been much more than a weak rasp.
she adjusted your pillow, moving carefully, as if she knew exactly where you hurt. the iv line shifted slightly, the cool liquid continuing to drip down into your veins, dulling the sharper edges of pain.
"your car got in an accident," the nurse continued, her tone soft, as though the words themselves were delicate. "you’re lucky—it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. some injuries, but nothing that won’t heal."
lucky.
the word felt foreign, distant. you had stopped at the light. you had waited. and yet—
your fingers twitched slightly against the blanket. you tried to piece together what had happened, the moment the world had gone from mundane to chaos, but the memories were scattered. all you could recall were headlights and the sickening weight of impact.
the nurse must have noticed the way your breathing shifted, because she placed a light hand on your arm, grounding.
"you need to rest," she said again, softer this time. "sleep will help."
you wanted to argue. you wanted to ask why this had happened, how long you had been here, if anyone had come to see you. if he—
but your body was already betraying you, exhaustion dragging at your limbs.
the pain wasn’t unbearable, but it was enough. enough to remind you that you weren’t okay. that you wouldn’t be for a while.
so you let your eyes slip shut.
not because you weren’t afraid of the darkness this time.
but because, for the moment, there was nothing else you could do.
Tumblr media
the hospital was quiet in a way that felt unnatural.
not the usual city stillness—the kind that came late at night when the streets were empty and only the hum of distant cars remained—but a silence laced with something heavier. something sterile. something fragile.
outside, the world moved on. people walked down busy sidewalks, cars skidded through melting patches of snow, neon signs flickered against the early evening dimness. life carried on, indifferent.
but here, in this fluorescent-lit corridor, the world had paused.
the nurse glanced at the clipboard in her hands, the patient’s name standing stark against the white paper. her brow furrowed slightly before she exhaled, reaching for the phone on the counter.
"are you sure this is the right contact?" the doctor beside her asked, checking the same file.
"it’s listed as her emergency number."
the nurse hesitated for only a moment before pressing the call button.
one ring.
two.
a click.
the voice that answered was slightly out of breath, like they had been running.
"hello?"
"hello, is this..."
. . .
silence. the kind that didn’t come from confusion, but realization.
the kind that carried weight.
and then the line went dead.
the waiting room door pushed open half an hour later.
the person entered in a rush, but not carelessly—like he had run, but forced himself to slow down the second he stepped inside. the nurses at the desk barely had a chance to greet him before he was already speaking, voice tight with urgency.
"i’m here for y/n l/n. i got a call."
one of the nurses, the same one who had called, recognized him immediately. she straightened.
"she's stable. sleeping. but—"
"what happened?" he didn’t mean to interrupt, but the words were out before he could stop them.
the doctor nearby spoke this time, his voice calm.
"a car accident. her injuries are moderate—some bruised ribs, minor fractures. a concussion, but nothing too severe. she was lucky. she'll need rest, but she'll recover."
the weight of those words landed squarely on his chest. he exhaled shakily.
"can i see her?"
the doctor exchanged a glance with the nurse before nodding.
"she's still unconscious.. had woken up for a bit, after we had gotten her here, but then she dozed out again. you can sit with her. just keep your voice down."
a nod. then, without another word, he followed them down the hall.
room 801 was dimly lit, the blinds drawn halfway.
the beeping of the heart monitor was steady, a quiet reassurance that life still lingered in this room, soft and persistent.
and there you were.
lying against the pristine white sheets, head turned slightly to the side, expression peaceful in a way that didn’t match the reality of what had happened.
your arm was bandaged, an iv drip feeding slow, steady doses of pain relief into your veins. a bruise, darkening at the edges, sat on your temple. your breathing was even, but too still. too quiet.
he took a step forward. then another.
until he was at your bedside, standing so close he could see the faint rise and fall of your chest, the way your fingers twitched slightly even in sleep.
he let out a breath he hadn’t realized he was holding.
and then—finally—he let himself feel it.
the panic. the helplessness. the gut-wrenching thought of what if?
what if the call had been worse? what if it hadn’t come at all? what if this had been it?
his fingers curled into a fist, nails pressing into his palm. he inhaled sharply, forcing himself to keep it together.
but his eyes were burning.
and before he could stop himself, he was sinking into the chair beside the bed, his hand hovering near yours but not touching. not yet.
"i’m sorry," he whispered, the words breaking in his throat.
you didn’t hear him.
but he said it anyway.
. . .
the room was quiet—too quiet.
a suffocating kind of stillness. the kind that settled in hospitals, lingering in the air like a held breath. it pressed against the walls, snaked into the cracks of the cold linoleum floor, wrapped itself around the sterile scent of antiseptic and faint traces of metal. even the steady beeping of the monitor felt muted, almost like a whisper in the vast emptiness of it all.
and then there was him.
sitting hunched over in the chair, elbows braced against his knees, fingers threaded into his curls as he stared at the floor like it held all the answers he didn’t have.
his breath came shallow, unsteady. his chest felt tight, too tight, like the air wasn’t reaching his lungs no matter how hard he tried. his heartbeat pounded against his ribs, out of sync with the quiet rhythm of the machines.
the sight of you in that hospital bed was something he could barely process.
your face, pale against the stark white pillow. your arm, wrapped in clean bandages. the soft rise and fall of your chest, far too slow for his liking.
it didn’t feel real.
none of this felt real.
he swallowed thickly, but it did nothing to rid the lump in his throat.
he had been fine—or at least, he had convinced himself he was—right up until he saw you lying there, unmoving, their body smaller beneath the weight of the hospital sheets. that was when the panic finally crashed over him, dragging him under like a tide.
the kind of panic that left him hollow. that twisted something deep inside his chest, wringing him dry until all that was left was guilt and fear and—
he squeezed his eyes shut, willing himself to get a grip.
but the harder he tried, the worse it got.
his shoulders trembled. his fingers dug into his hair. his breath came out in a sharp, shaky exhale. and then—before he could stop it—his first sob broke free.
it tore through him, raw and aching, a sound ripped straight from the deepest part of his soul. his whole body caved under the weight of it, his forehead pressing against the heel of his palm as another sob wracked through his chest.
"shit," he choked out, barely above a whisper.
his hand clenched into a fist, nails pressing into his palm.
he wasn’t supposed to be like this.
he was supposed to be the calm one. the strong one. the one who kept things together even when everything else was falling apart.
but right now?
right now, he felt helpless.
his eyes burned as he lifted his head, gaze falling on you again. he wanted to reach out—wanted to take your hand in his, press his forehead against your knuckles, tell you he was here. that he wasn’t going anywhere. that everything was going to be okay.
but he couldn’t. because.. again,
because what if it wasn’t?
what if this was his fault?
the thought hit him again like a punch to the gut.
what if he had done something differently? what if he had been there? what if you hadn’t been alone?
what if—
"i’m so, so sorry, y/n," he whispered, voice breaking.
it wasn’t enough.
it would never be enough.
but it was all he had.
seconds passed. maybe minutes. he wasn’t sure. time had blurred into nothing but the quiet hum of the machines and the faint, rhythmic sound of his breathing.
he hadn’t moved from his spot.
couldn’t.
his body felt heavy, weighed down by exhaustion and emotions he wasn’t ready to name. his hands were trembling, his fingers flexing and curling against his knees as if trying to ground himself. but nothing worked.
the guilt still clung to him like a second skin.
and the worst part?
you didn’t even know he was here.
didn’t know that he had dropped everything the second he got the call. that he had nearly broken the speed limit trying to get here. that he had spent the last hour sitting by your side, trying and failing to pull himself together.
didn’t know how much he missed you.
how much he needed you.
he exhaled shakily, rubbing a hand over his face.
then, hesitantly—almost as if afraid they would disappear if he touched you—he reached out.
his fingers hovered over yours for a second, hesitant, before finally pressing lightly against the back of your hand.
a warmth that was barely there. a quiet reassurance that you were still here. still breathing.
his throat tightened.
"please wake up," he murmured, barely audible.
it wasn’t a demand.
it wasn’t even a request.
it was a plea.
a desperate, aching plea that carried every ounce of guilt and regret and love that he hadn’t been able to say before.
but you didn’t move.
didn’t stir.
didn’t even twitch.
and that—more than anything—was what truly broke him.
the past few weeks : what remains in the silence
the studio lights hummed overhead, casting a dim, sterile glow over the cluttered desk, the scattered sheets of lyrics crumpled in frustration, the empty coffee cups pushed aside and forgotten. the air was thick, weighed down by the scent of exhaustion—of ink and paper, of stale caffeine and sleepless nights.
seated at the console, shoulders hunched, was him, fingers threading through his curls as he stared at the blinking waveform on the screen. the metronome ticked steadily in his ears, a cruel reminder of time passing, of the hours slipping through his fingers like sand.
it was late. too late. but that didn’t matter.
the others had gone home. the studio halls were quiet now, the usual buzz of voices and laughter absent, leaving only the low hum of the equipment and the rhythmic tapping of his pen against the table.
but he couldn’t leave.
not yet.
not when his chest still ached like this.
not when his mind kept playing the same loop of memories, over and over, like a cruel, broken record.
"you don’t get it, do you?"
the words echoed in his head, sharp and raw. your voice—frustrated, hurt—lingered like a ghost, filling every inch of the suffocating silence.
he had said things, too. things he didn’t mean. things he hadn’t even realized were leaving his mouth until it was too late.
and then it had ended.
just like that.
no closure. no finality. just silence.
and god, the silence was worse than anything else.
it was deafening.
it followed him everywhere.
to rehearsals, where his body moved on autopilot, executing every step with precision but feeling none of it. to meetings, where words blurred together and became meaningless noise. to the dorm, where the others cast worried glances his way but didn’t push, because they knew.
they knew he was a storm waiting to happen.
and here, in the studio, where it was just him and the music—his only escape—he found that even that had turned against him.
because every melody he wrote sounded like you.
every lyric that spilled from his pen became a memory. a moment. a fragment of something he had lost.
and he couldn’t do it.
he couldn’t use your voice as his muse.
so he erased them. again and again.
trashed the songs. deleted the files. ripped the pages from his notebook and threw them aside, watching as the words—his words, their words—were reduced to nothing more than discarded, crumpled paper on the floor.
but it didn’t stop.
it didn’t stop the ache.
didn’t stop the way his fingers shook when he reached for another blank sheet, knowing it would end up the same way.
didn’t stop the frustration that built in his chest, hot and suffocating, curling around his ribs like a vice.
"hyung."
the voice was soft, hesitant.
chan barely glanced up, recognizing the figure lingering in the doorway.
minho.
the younger guy leaned against the frame, arms crossed, eyes dark with concern.
chan knew that look. knew the way minho studied him, like he was trying to pick apart the pieces of him that had begun to unravel.
"you should go home," minho said after a beat.
chan exhaled sharply, dragging a hand down his face. not this again.
"i’m fine."
minho’s eyes narrowed. "no, you’re not."
chan pressed his lips together, turning his gaze back to the screen, hoping minho would take the hint and leave it alone.
but minho never left things alone.
"you look like hell."
"thanks."
"that wasn’t a compliment."
chan sighed, rubbing at his temples. the headache that had been lingering for hours was starting to settle in, a dull, throbbing pulse at the base of his skull.
"i just need to finish this song."
minho’s expression didn’t change. "and then what?"
chan didn’t answer.
because he didn’t know.
didn’t know what came next.
didn’t know how to fix the mess he had made.
didn’t know how to stop feeling like he was drowning in his own emotions.
minho stepped further into the room, his gaze softening. "hyung."
chan swallowed. looked away.
"just let me work." his voice was quieter this time. almost pleading.
minho studied him for a long moment before exhaling through his nose.
"fine. but if you pass out from exhaustion, i’m dragging your ass out of here myself."
with that, minho turned and left, the door clicking shut behind him.
chan sat there, staring at the empty doorway, his hands clenched into fists.
he should go home.
should rest.
should sleep.
but he wouldn’t.
because the moment he closed his eyes, you would be there.
in his memories. in his mind.
and he didn’t know if he could handle that.
present : five days in winter
the hospital was cold.
not the kind of cold that seeped into bones, but the kind that settled somewhere deeper, heavier. a silence that stretched too long, too empty, filled only with the steady beeping of machines and the rhythmic ticking of the clock on the far wall. the scent of antiseptic lingered, clinical and distant, sterilizing not just the air but the very essence of the place.
chan had learned to hate that smell.
it clung to him now, in his black hoodie, in his hair, in the tired lines beneath his eyes.
five days.
it had been five days since he first walked into this room, five days since he first saw you lying there, still and unmoving, lost somewhere between sleep and unconsciousness.
and he hadn’t left.
not really.
sure, he went back to the dorm at night, sometimes. sometimes he sat in the studio, headphones on, staring at unfinished tracks that never seemed to progress beyond the first verse. but his mind was always here. with you.
and when he was here, he stayed for hours.
ignoring texts. ignoring calls. ignoring schedules that piled up like a stack of unopened letters.
he didn’t care.
he couldn’t.
because every time he walked into this room, every time he sat beside the bed and saw your still face, it felt like something inside him cracked just a little bit more.
the doctors had reassured him. told him there was nothing to panic over. that you were breathing fine. that your body was simply taking the rest it needed to heal. that waking up was a matter of time.
but what if time took too long?
chan exhaled slowly, rubbing a hand over his face before leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees. his fingers threaded through his curls, gripping the strands, frustration curling into his shoulders.
"you’re missing out on so much, you know?" his voice was quiet, barely more than a murmur. "the first real snowfall happened yesterday. the big kind. the kind you like."
he swallowed, glancing at your face. no movement. no response.
"some kids were playing in it. there was this little boy outside the café across the street. his mom was trying to get him to go inside, but he just kept throwing snowballs at his sister. reminded me of you."
a bitter smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
"you always loved winter, even though you complained about the cold."
silence.
the only response was the quiet beeping of the monitor.
chan sighed, leaning back against the chair, letting his eyes drift up to the ceiling.
it wasn’t fair.
it wasn’t fair how time kept moving forward like nothing had happened, how the world outside still spun, still breathed, still continued—while in here, in this small, sterile room, everything felt suspended.
stuck.
frozen.
a soft knock came at the door. chan barely reacted as it opened, the familiar figures slipping inside.
hyunjin and felix.
both looked exhausted in their own way. felix had a bag of snacks in his hands, a feeble attempt at normalcy, and hyunjin’s face was tense, like he had spent too much time trying to convince himself he wasn’t worried.
"hyung," felix spoke first, his voice cautious. "you should go home for a bit."
chan barely glanced at him. "i’m fine."
"you always say that." hyunjin crossed his arms, leaning against the wall. "and it’s never true."
felix sighed, walking over and placing the snack bag on the table.
"have you eaten?"
chan shrugged. he didn’t remember.
felix gave him a look before sighing again, softer this time. "she’s going to be okay, you know."
chan exhaled sharply.
"you don’t know that."
hyunjin scoffed. "don’t do.. that. don’t start with the worst-case scenarios. the doctors literally said she just needs time."
"yeah, and how long is that gonna take?" chan’s voice wavered, and he hated how it did. hated how the helplessness crept into his tone despite how hard he tried to shove it down.
hyunjin frowned, his expression softening just slightly.
"she’ll wake up," he said, quieter this time. "she’s strong."
chan swallowed hard. he knew that. knew it better than anyone.
but it didn’t make this any easier.
didn’t make the waiting any less agonizing.
felix sat down on the other side of the bed, glancing at your unconscious form. "she looks peaceful."
chan didn’t answer. he didn’t know if he could agree.
because to him, peace and stillness weren’t the same.
and this—this unbearable stillness—felt more like limbo.
like something unfinished.
like something waiting to break.
and god, he didn’t know how much longer he could take it.
Tumblr media
the morning air outside the hospital was crisp, the early sun painting soft streaks of gold across the pale blue sky. inside, the hospital remained the same—a quiet combination of beeping monitors, hushed voices, and the sterile scent of disinfectant that had long since embedded itself into chan’s lungs.
he arrived early. earlier than usual.
not that it mattered—his sense of time had warped over the last six days, stretched thin between restless nights and hours spent sitting beside a bed that felt both too still and too fragile.
he pushed the door open slowly, careful not to let the hinges creak too loud, as if any noise might disturb you. but you hadn’t woken up yesterday. or the day before that. or the day before that.
still, chan had hope.
"morning, sleepyhead." his voice was soft, a little hoarse from exhaustion, but there was warmth in it nonetheless.
he shut the door behind him, moving to his usual chair beside the bed. his body moved on autopilot—placing his bag down, pulling out a bottle of water he wouldn’t drink, adjusting the blanket that didn’t need adjusting.
just something to keep his hands busy.
something to stop the weight in his chest from pressing too deep.
"you missed another sunrise," he murmured, fingers ghosting over the back of your hand. "it was a pretty one, too. all pink and orange—one of those skies you’d probably take a million pictures of and never post."
a weak smile tugged at his lips as he exhaled. "i can already hear you scolding me for not taking one for you."
silence.
the beeping of the machines remained steady. the slow, gentle rise and fall of your chest didn’t falter.
chan swallowed.
he shifted, resting his forearms on the edge of the bed. his fingers absentmindedly traced over your knuckles—slow, barely-there movements, as if they might break under the weight of his touch.
"remember that one time we tried making that french hot chocolate you saw a tiktok of, and ended up burning it?" he huffed a soft chuckle. "you were so mad. said i ruined the perfect winter aesthetic. but then you tasted it anyway, and we both agreed it wasn’t that bad. we even made it again, just to prove we could do it properly."
he exhaled through his nose.
"i think about stuff like that a lot."
he swallowed again, throat thick, voice quieter. "i think about you.. a lot."
his fingers curled around yours, gentle, firm. "you’re not allowed to keep me waiting too long, you know. my patience only goes so far."
the day passed like that.
slowly.
like wading through water.
chan sat beside you, talking sometimes, falling into silence at others. occasionally, he’d lean back and let his eyes slip shut, only to jolt them open again minutes later, unwilling to let himself fully drift.
the others didn’t visit today.
he was grateful for that.
he didn’t want to share this space.
not today.
not when he felt so—raw.
evening settled before he realized it. the room darkened except for the faint glow of the bedside lamp. outside, the city continued—cars honking, streetlights flickering on, the world moving forward as if nothing had changed.
chan hadn’t moved much.
still in the same chair.
still holding your hand.
his thumb rubbed slow circles against your skin.
the exhaustion was catching up to him again.
he fought it.
tried to ignore the heaviness in his limbs.
tried to push past the way his blinks grew slower, the way his head tilted slightly forward.
but eventually, he gave in.
just for a second.
just long enough for his body to sag, for his grip on your hand to loosen slightly, for the warmth of your skin against his to lull him into something shallow, something that wasn’t quite sleep but wasn’t entirely wakefulness either.
minutes passed.
then—
a twitch.
a faint pressure.
the smallest tug against his hand.
his eyes snapped open instantly, breath catching in his throat.
he jolted upright, gaze flickering down to your fingers—his heart hammering against his ribs.
had he imagined it?
had his mind finally started playing tricks on him?
no.
because there it was again.
a tiny, almost imperceptible twitch of your fingers against his.
his breath shuddered.
"hey—" he whispered, eyes wide, gripping your hand a little tighter. "hey, love, can you—?"
the door creaked open before he could finish.
the nurse stepped inside, clipboard in hand, but the second she saw the look on his face—saw the way his hands trembled slightly as he held yours—her expression shifted.
"what’s wrong?"
chan exhaled, barely able to find the words. "she—she moved."
the nurse’s eyes widened before she swiftly turned back toward the hall.
"doctor!"
chan barely registered the next few moments.
footsteps.
voices.
the doctor entering, the nurse moving to check the monitors, the air shifting into something more urgent—but not panicked. not alarming. just… observant.
"vitals are stable," one of them murmured.
"it’s a good sign," another reassured.
chan sat there, unmoving, barely breathing as he watched them work—checking, adjusting, monitoring.
. . .
darkness.
it is soft, quiet, weightless. a vast ocean with no shore in sight, where time does not exist, where thought drifts like mist, thin and shapeless. you are floating, untethered, caught in the liminal space between nowhere and somewhere. there is no urgency, no need to wake, no pressing demand. just the silence. just the stillness.
then—something shifts.
a sound.
faint. a murmur against the quiet.
it trickles in like light through the cracks of a door, hesitant yet persistent. a voice. low, gentle, carrying the weight of something you cannot yet name.
you want to reach for it.
but your body is heavy, limbs sinking, lungs thick with something dense and unmovable. the darkness doesn’t want to let you go. it tugs at you, pleading, desperate to keep you here, to keep you safe, to keep you—
another voice.
closer this time.
then—a touch.
warm, real.
a thumb brushing over your knuckles, a soft squeeze, something grounding in the haze.
the weight in your chest shifts. not gone, but different. a tether, a pull toward the surface. the nothingness that held you so gently begins to peel away, unraveling thread by thread, revealing something beyond the void.
your fingers twitch.
there is a sharp inhale—someone else’s, not yours.
the silence ripples.
then— light.
blinding, even through the barrier of your closed eyelids. it seeps in like an intrusion, pushing back against the murk of unconsciousness.
your head throbs. your throat is dry. your skin feels strange, as if it doesn’t belong to you.
then, after what feels like forever—
you open your eyes.
at first, there is nothing but a blur. a smear of color, shifting shapes, movement too fast for your sluggish mind to process. you blink, once, twice, and the world slowly begins to sharpen.
white walls. fluorescent lighting. the steady beeping of machines.
a hospital.
the realization comes sluggishly, like trying to recall the details of a dream upon waking. you start to remember how you got here. you remember why.
but then—
"y/n?"
a voice.
your gaze flickers to the source, slow and unsteady, as if your body is learning how to exist all over again.
chan.
he is beside you, close, his body half-perched on the chair, half-leaning toward you like he doesn’t trust the space between. his hands are on yours—solid, warm, trembling.
his eyes, wide with something that looks like relief and devastation twisted into one, are locked onto your face as if looking away might shatter you back into nothingness.
your throat is raw when you try to speak.
nothing comes out.
chan moves instantly, reaching for the cup on the bedside table. you watch, dazed, as he adjusts the straw, his movements quick but careful, and then he’s guiding it to your lips.
"here. just a sip."
you take it.
the water is cool, soothing against your throat, but your body feels unfamiliar, unsteady, as if you are a guest in your own skin. you pull away after only a small sip, and he sets the cup back down.
his hand returns to yours.
like it never left.
there is a moment of silence.
then, softly—
"you scared me."
his voice cracks. just slightly. barely noticeable, but you hear it. feel it.
the weight of it settles in your chest.
you swallow. try again.
"how long?"
the sound of your own voice surprises you. it is hoarse, fragile, barely more than a whisper.
chan exhales, running a hand through his curls. he looks exhausted, like sleep has been a stranger to him for far too long.
"six days."
you blink.
your mind tries to grasp the number, the weight of it, but everything feels slow, like you are running through molasses.
"i was… asleep?"
"more like unconscious," he corrects, his thumb brushing absently against your knuckles. "the doctors said it wasn’t too dangerous, but—"
he stops. shakes his head.
"it felt dangerous to me."
your chest tightens.
his fingers curl around yours, firmer now, as if testing to make sure you are real.
"you wouldn’t wake up," he murmurs, voice quieter now. "no matter how much i talked to you, no matter how much i—" he exhales, shaking his head. "i thought—"
he stops himself.
his jaw clenches.
you squeeze his hand.
his gaze snaps to yours immediately, like the smallest movement from you is something monumental.
you clear your throat, trying to fight past the dryness, past the exhaustion clinging to your bones. "i’m here."
it’s not much.
but it is enough.
chan swallows hard, his lips pressing together, and for the first time, you see it. the glassiness in his eyes, the way his breath shudders, the way relief sits so heavy on his shoulders it almost looks like it might break him.
"yeah," he exhales. "yeah, you are."
the tension in the room softens. the air shifts.
you watch as he lifts your hand to his lips, pressing the lightest kiss against the back of it.
his eyes shut for a moment, like he is trying to ground himself in the sensation.
when he opens them again, there is something softer there.
"don’t scare me like that again, yeah?"
his voice is steady, but you can hear the emotion beneath it.
you give the faintest nod, the ghost of a smile tugging at the corners of your lips.
"i’ll try."
it’s the best you can offer.
and for now—
it is enough.
Tumblr media
the moment chan’s hand was gently pried away from yours, a chill settled over your skin, one that had nothing to do with the temperature of the hospital room. his warmth had been the only thing tethering you to something familiar, something steady. but now—now it was gone.
"mr. bahng, we need you to wait outside while we check on her," one of the nurses had told him. a request, but also not.
you had seen the hesitation in his eyes, the reluctance, the way his fingers had twitched as if they didn't want to let go. but he listened. because it was for you. because it was what was needed.
now, the door clicked shut behind him, and the room felt bigger. louder, with the beeping of the monitors, the shuffle of nurses moving around you, the crinkle of gloves being pulled on.
“alright, sweetheart, we’re just going to do a quick check-up, alright?” the nurse closest to you—an older woman with kind eyes and soft hands—offered you a reassuring smile as she reached for your wrist, checking your pulse. “you’ve been through quite a bit, so let us know if anything feels off.”
you swallowed, throat still dry, but nodded.
the world still felt slow, like you were wading through water. the dull ache in your limbs, the stiffness of your joints—it was a strange thing, waking up in a body that had been still for so long.
someone else adjusted the iv drip beside you, and you felt the cool trickle of medicine entering your veins.
“you were lucky, you know.” the nurse’s voice was light, almost teasing. “your injuries could have been a lot worse.”
your injuries.
the words settled over you like a distant echo. you had almost forgotten.
“what.. what else happened?” your voice was rough, barely above a whisper, but it carried the weight of something fragile.
the nurses exchanged a glance. then, the older woman—the one who had spoken first—tilted her head slightly. “do you remember anything?”
your brows furrowed, but you managed a light nod.
the memory was there, hazy and fractured, like a dream slipping through your fingers the harder you tried to hold onto it.
the road.
the red light.
the blur of headlights.
the sound—
your stomach twisted.
“i—” you swallowed hard. “a car accident.”
the nurse nodded. “yes. you were brought in unconscious. you woke up for a few minutes, you remember any of that? some injuries—nothing too major, but enough to keep you out for a few days.”
a few days.
that still didn’t feel real.
you exhaled shakily, trying to absorb the information, but your mind felt slow, reluctant to process everything all at once.
the nurse squeezed your hand gently. “you’re going to be okay, sweetheart. you just need some time to heal.”
there was a soft rustling as another nurse adjusted the pillows behind you, shifting your body slightly so you were more upright. the change in position sent a wave of dizziness through you, but you didn’t protest.
a few more checks—light in your eyes, testing reflexes, changing out bandages. you winced when they cleaned one of the scrapes along your arm, but the nurse was quick to murmur a gentle, “i know, sweetheart, almost done.”
then, just as she was finishing up, her voice took on a different note.
“your boyfriend, by the way,” she said casually, as if the words weren’t about to send your heart into a spiral, “has been coming in every day since we called him.”
you froze.
the nurse didn’t seem to notice. she kept adjusting the blankets around you, her tone light. “your emergency contact, right? he looked ready to drop everything the second we rang him.”
your lips parted, but you didn’t know what to say.
boyfriend?
boyfriend.
your thoughts fumbled over the word.
the nurse chuckled softly. “oh, don’t look so surprised, sweetheart. it was obvious. the way he was hovering over you, holding your hand like he was afraid to let go? if that’s not love, i don’t know what is.”
your heart did something strange in your chest. a slow, twisting motion that left warmth blooming in its wake.
“he’s been here every single day,” she continued. “for hours. sometimes the whole day. we had to practically force him to go home and rest.”
your fingers curled slightly against the sheets.
“he talks to you, too,” she added with a small smile. “like you could hear him. maybe you could, who knows?”
you swallowed, trying to ignore the way your throat suddenly felt tight.
“he would just sit here, holding your hand, telling you about his day. about how the weather was. about how your friends were worried about you.”
the warmth in your chest grew.
“he even told you stories,” she said, shaking her head fondly. “little things. things that probably wouldn’t matter to anyone else, but he told you anyway. like you were just asleep and he was waiting for you to wake up and respond.”
something swelled in your throat.
you hadn’t been aware.
you had been floating in that quiet, in that darkness, not knowing that he had been right there.
“i think,” the nurse said after a pause, a small knowing smile tugging at her lips, “he really, really cares about you.”
your breath hitched.
the words settled deep into your bones, warming the spaces you hadn’t realized were cold.
chan had been here. everyday.
talking to you.
waiting for you.
your fingers brushed over the blanket absently, heart thrumming in your chest.
the nurse gave your hand a final squeeze before stepping back, gathering the used bandages and tools into a tray. “alright, sweetheart, we’re done here for now.”
another nurse adjusted your iv, and the beeping of the monitor remained steady, rhythmic, like a quiet reassurance.
“we’ll let your boyfriend back in now,” the older nurse teased lightly. “poor thing’s probably pacing a hole into the floor out there.”
you huffed a soft, breathy laugh, shaking your head slightly.
and then, the door opened.
and chan stepped in.
the door clicked shut behind him, but you barely noticed.
he stood just a few steps inside the hospital room, his breath caught somewhere in his chest, eyes searching yours like he needed proof—proof that you were really awake, that you were really, fully, looking at him.
you blinked at him, your throat tight, your fingers curling against the thin hospital blanket.
there was something about him. something different.
the exhaustion was written all over his face—his skin paler than usual, dark shadows pooled beneath his eyes, his shoulders slouched in a way that didn’t belong to him. his curls were disheveled, as if he had run his fingers through them too many times.
but it wasn’t just the fatigue. it was something deeper. a hesitation in the way he stood, a carefulness in his every breath, like he was afraid to move too quickly, afraid to shatter the fragile moment between you.
afraid you’d send him away.
a lump formed in your throat.
“you stayed,” you whispered.
his breath trembled as he exhaled, and then—then he was moving.
not rushing, not lunging, but stepping forward, crossing the space between you with a quiet desperation.
the chair beside your bed scraped slightly against the floor as he sank into it. his hands, shaking just barely, hovered over yours before he swallowed and finally—finally—took your fingers in his.
a choked, breathy laugh left him, something wet and exhausted and disbelieving all at once.
“of course i stayed,” he murmured.
you let out a shaky exhale, glancing down at his hands. he was warm, solid, real.
but then, something flickered over his face. his brows pulled together, his jaw tightening.
“i—” he sucked in a breath, struggling for words, his grip on your fingers tightening just slightly.
you knew that look.
he was overthinking.
regret, guilt, pain—all of it flickered in the depths of his tired brown eyes.
“i—” he tried again, then exhaled sharply. “i’m so, fucking sorry.”
your lips parted.
“for everything,” he continued, voice thick. “for the argument, for—” his voice cracked. “for not talking to you. for letting my frustration—” he broke off again, shaking his head, his fingers tightening around yours. “i should have—should have been better.”
you swallowed.
your vision blurred, the weight of everything pressing into you.
you had both been hurting. both been so lost in your own emotions, in your own pain, that you had pushed each other away.
and now—now he was here. holding your hands like they were something precious, like he had been waiting for this moment for far too long.
tears welled in your eyes, slipping down your cheeks before you could stop them.
“chris,” you whispered, shaking your head, your own fingers tightening around his.
his gaze snapped up to yours, as if the sound of his name was something he had been waiting to hear.
you swallowed, blinking through the blur of your tears.
“i’m sorry, too,” you murmured.
his lips parted, something raw and vulnerable flashing across his face.
“i—” your breath hitched. “i shouldn’t have—shouldn’t have let my frustration get the best of me either.” you shook your head, swallowing hard. “i should have—should have listened more, should have—” your voice cracked. “i missed you.”
a sharp breath left him.
“you don't need to apologise. it's none of your fault, all mine, love. i missed you too,” he whispered.
and then—then he was leaning forward, pressing his forehead gently against yours.
you closed your eyes, inhaling the familiar scent of him—the faint traces of cologne, the warmth of something undeniably him.
his breath trembled against your skin.
“i thought—” his voice was barely above a whisper. “i thought i lost you.”
your heart clenched.
you shifted slightly, letting go of one of his hands so you could cup his face instead. your thumb brushed over his cheek, over the warmth of his skin.
his breath hitched, and then—then his own hand covered yours, holding it against his face, as if grounding himself in the feeling of you.
you swallowed, blinking rapidly against the tears in your eyes.
“i love you,” you whispered.
his breath stuttered.
then, before you could even fully process it, his arms were wrapping around you, pulling you into him, holding you like he was afraid you’d disappear.
you buried your face into his shoulder, your fingers clinging to the fabric of his hoodie, the warmth of him settling deep into your bones.
neither of you spoke for a moment.
just breathing. just existing.
just feeling the weight of everything that had been broken and the quiet, fragile way it was coming back together.
then—his voice.
soft. shaky.
“thank you for forgiving me.”
you swallowed.
his fingers curled around the back of your hospital gown, his forehead pressing against the side of your head.
“i’ll make up for it every day,” he murmured.
your breath hitched.
you pulled back just slightly, just enough to see his face, and then—then you cupped his cheeks again, tilting his head down slightly as you pressed a soft, lingering kiss to his forehead.
he let out a shaky breath, eyes fluttering shut, hands still clutching at you.
your thumb brushed over his cheek again.
“just stay,” you whispered.
his lips parted.
then, slowly, he nodded.
and as he pulled you back into his arms, pressing a kiss to the back of your hand, to the crown of your head—
you knew.
you knew that, no matter how broken things had felt, no matter how lost you had both been—
you had found your way back to each other.
and that—
that was enough.
“i love you so, so, much more, sunshine.”

————————————————————————
You are confused, and so are your parents. You can tell by the way they both look at you, then at Jungkook.
"Ritual?" your father asks, his voice filled with uncertainty.
Jungkook gives a slight smile, looking around, and you can't quite read the expression on his face. Whatever is going on inside his mind, you're sure it's not good. He sighs and takes a few steps back.
"Here in Lav, we don't believe in marriages. We perform a soul-tying ritual," he says.
The words sound foreign, almost alien to your ears. Your brows furrow instinctively, a wave of confusion washing over you. You’re too scared to look at your parents right now. You glance at Jungkook instead, noticing the way his eyes seem to drink you in—too much adoration, compassion, care... love. Your mother had been right; Jungkook is indeed in love with you.
You gulp, trying to steady your racing heart, and look at your father, standing next to you. He meets your gaze and, without a word, intertwines his hand with yours. You find solace in the familiar gesture. Growing up, you’d always been closer to your father than your mother, but what you don’t notice is the way Jungkook’s jaw clenches, the silent fury in his gaze as he looks at your father.
Jungkook clears his throat, his tone soft but firm as he extends his hand toward you. “Come,” he murmurs.
You hesitate, unsure of what to do. But your father squeezes your hand in reassurance. It’s unspoken, but you understand the message: don’t ruin this. Slowly, you take Jungkook’s hand and follow him up the stairs toward the platform. He leads you to stand in front of two chairs, centered on the stage, while your parents stand by the side with the villagers.
You turn back to glance at them when, suddenly, an elderly man approaches, draping a large mantle made of fur and leather over your shoulders. As he does, he mutters a prayer in a language you don't understand. The mantle is identical to Jungkook's, except for one difference—his mantle bears a tiger’s head perched on top. The sight unsettles you, but you try not to dwell on it.
At the stage with you and Jungkook, besides the old man, stand two women and the man who brought you here earlier. One of the women, dressed in brown leather, steps forward, smiling warmly. She speaks to Jungkook, and he nods. He motions for you to sit. You comply, but the tight corset and heavy mantle make it difficult. You try to fold the dress by your feet, but the corset gives you little room to move.
Without hesitation, Jungkook kneels before you, adjusting your dress with surprising tenderness. A strange, unfamiliar sensation tugs at your chest. As he does so, you notice the shocked expressions of the onlookers—the elderly man’s mouth hangs open, the women exchange bewildered glances, and the crowd murmurs amongst themselves. Your parents stand frozen, your father’s mouth agape while your mother wears a knowing smirk, her eyes gleaming with the unspoken words: “I told you.”
"Is it okay?" Jungkook’s voice pulls you from your trance, and you nod absentmindedly. His smile returns, a faint glimmer of satisfaction in his eyes, before he stands, sitting back in his chair.
As time passes, preparations for the ritual continue. Everything happening around you feels utterly foreign. A man drums in the corner, another blows into a shell-like instrument, and yet another makes guttural, animal-like sounds. It’s all too much for your senses.
A sharp, shrill noise cuts through the chaos, and your eyes are drawn to a pair of goats, tied to a post in the corner. You can’t shake the growing suspicion that they are here to be sacrificed. A chill runs down your spine at the thought.
As you survey the scene, another woman approaches with a bowl. From your sitting position, you can’t see the contents, but when she dips her fingers into the bowl and reaches for your face, you instinctively lean back. She steps back, waiting for Jungkook’s cue.
He exchanges a few words with her in their native language, then turns to you. “You don’t have to be scared. This is just fuller’s earth clay mixed with rosewater and coconut oil. It’s necessary, a vital part of the ritual.”
His voice is calm, almost too sweet, and for a moment, you doubt his intentions. He gestures to the woman, who begins applying the clay to his throat, drawing a half-moon symbol on his forehead and two parallel lines on his jaw. Once she finishes, she turns to you, and again you recoil.
But this time, you have a plan.
“I want you to apply it,” you say softly, a hint of challenge in your voice.
Jungkook’s eyes widened in surprise. The old man, who had draped your mantle, clears his throat and steps forward, perhaps to interject. From what you can gather, Jungkook isn’t supposed to do this. The man speaks, but Jungkook raises a hand, silencing him without even looking in his direction.
With a smile, Jungkook turns to you and nods. The crowd gasps as he cradles your face in his hands, his fingers gently applying the clay, mirroring the symbols on his own face. He tilts your head from side to side, admiring his work, and when his gaze locks with yours, he murmurs, “Pretty.”
Anger rises in you, burning hot. This wasn’t the way you wanted him to act. The ritual, his control, it’s all too much. You feel your jaw clench, your eyes sting with frustration. But you hold it in.
The ritual continues for a while longer, with more strange and uncomfortable actions. You wear a crown-like headband made of peacock feathers, bracelets, threads, and bangles are tied to your wrists, and you’re made to recite several prayers.
Finally, the old man steps forward once more, nodding toward Jungkook.
“The ritual is complete,” the man says. “But one thing remains. To seal it fully, there is still one step left.”
Jungkook turned to you and gently intertwined his hands with yours, making you stand. You both descend the few steps toward the post, but just before you reach it, Jungkook diverts your path toward your parents.
For the first time, your father smiles at you. Your mother, though, looks more relieved than anything. Just as you’re about to embrace them, Jungkook steps in front of you, pulling your father into a hug instead.
“Congratulations,” Jungkook says, his voice sincere.
Your mother echoes the sentiment.
“We would love to have you both stay, but the next ritual is only for the people of Lav,” Jungkook says, his gaze turning to your father. “The carriage is ready.” He gestures toward the vehicle in the distance.
A wave of dread washes over you as your father nods, though he quickly asks if they can speak with you privately. Jungkook denies the request, telling him to say whatever he wants in front of him.
“Take care. May the gods be with you,” your father says softly, caressing your head.
“You’ll be fine here, my baby. Jungkook will keep you safe,” your mother says, her eyes fixed on him.
The weight of their departure hits you like a ton of bricks. Tears slip down your face, and you throw your arms around your parents, desperate not to let go.
“I want to go with you,” you plead, but before your father can respond, Jungkook steps forward.
“You cannot,” he says, his voice low and firm.
Rage flares up inside you, and suddenly everything feels too tight. The mantle, the crown, the bracelets—all feel suffocating. You try to pull at them desperately, your jaw clenched, tears streaming down your face. Jungkook grabs your arms to steady you, forcing you to meet his gaze.
For the first time today, you see the real Jungkook. His brows are furrowed, his jaw clenched, and the love that once seemed to soften him is gone. “You are my woman now,” he breathes, his voice low and serious. “You are the mother of this forest and these people. If you leave, everyone will die—including the forest, the people, and me. We are tied to you.”
His words strike you silent. You stare at him, searching for something—anything—that might explain this. But he says nothing more.
When he lets go of your arms, he rubs them gently as if apologizing.
—------------------------------------------------------
You watch as the carriage pulls away, your parents leaving you behind in this strange village.
“Come,” Jungkook says, his voice gentle now as he takes your hand. You follow him, the energy drained from you.
“This is the last ritual,” Jungkook whispers in your ear. “After this, we will be each other’s forever.”
His words send a shiver through your spine. The thought of living here as his "wife" does not sit well with you.
“What will happen?” you ask quietly, your heart pounding.
Jungkook doesn’t respond immediately. He takes a deep breath and squeezes your hand. “We are going to gift our forest goddess, Devti. This day wouldn’t have been possible without her,” he says.
Before you can ask another question, a woman steps forward with a machete in hand. Your eyes widen in horror. The goats, the sacrifice—it's happening.
The woman’s voice booms through the clearing. “Everyone, the goddess Devti has blessed us once again. She has given our leader, Jeon Jungkook, another gift. For years, this forest has yearned for a mother, and here she is.”
Your mind reels at the mention of “mother.”
"Today, Jeon Jungkook and Y/N became one. Today, Lav and its people got their mother," she finishes, and the crowd erupts in deafening cheers.
“May Devti keep blessing the Lav, protect her people, and may Devti bless our leader Jungkook and mother Y/N with a prosperous future,” the woman concludes.
The crowd chants, “No man can defeat him, for he is blessed by the Devti.”
You are trembling. The weight of the machete in your hand feels too heavy. The goats cry in terror, and for a moment, you wonder if they know what’s coming. You look at Jungkook, but his smile only intensifies your fear.
"Go on," he urges softly. "Give her blood."
You shake your head, your breath quickening. You cannot bring yourself to kill innocent creatures. With trembling hands, you pass the machete back to Jungkook.
"I can't," you whisper. "I can't kill them."
Jungkook’s eyes soften, and he places a gentle hand on your shoulder. "Y/N, my love, this isn’t killing. It’s offering blood to the goddess."
But nothing he says helps. You are suffocating, your mind reeling, when a sudden idea flashes across your mind.
“Jungkook,” you say, your voice shaking but resolute. “Your goddess needs blood, right?”
He nods, sensing your change of tone.
“Well,” you continue, looking directly at him, “I don't want to kill the goats. They're babies, they should be with their mother. But... if she wants blood...” You pause, wiping your tears. “Then give her yours.”
You place your head against his chest, allowing yourself a moment of quiet satisfaction as his eyes widen.
But before he can react, one of the villagers steps forward, his voice protesting.
“That’s against the ritual,” he says.
You don’t give him a chance to finish. You step in front of him and snap, “Do not interfere while I’m speaking to my husband.”
The man immediately bows, a look of fear crossing his face.
Jungkook steps forward, his hand on your back, as he pushes the man away. “Only talk to my wife like that if you want to become one with the fire,” he warns, his voice cold.
You stand there, momentarily taken aback by his response. You suppress a smirk.
In a sudden motion, Jungkook grabs the machete, surprising the crowd when he slides the blade across his palm. Blood drips from his hand as he walks toward the stone statue of the goddess Devti. He wipes the blood over the stone, breathing heavily as the air grows thick with tension.
The crowd stands frozen in place, too afraid to make a sound. The silence is suffocating, and for reasons you cannot explain, you suddenly find yourself walking toward him.
In that moment, something inside you shifts. You grab his face and kiss him.
For a brief second, he is caught off guard, but then his hands find their place around you, pulling you closer. He cradles your jaw with his blood covered hand, he moans into the kiss. You break the kiss, suddenly aware of your surroundings.
Before anything else can happen, the old man steps forward, taking the machete from Jungkook and casting it aside.
He pats Jungkook on the back, his voice booming across the gathering.
“May the goddess approve of this,” he says. “May she bless the mother as she has blessed this village. From this day, till the very end, Mother Y/N and Jeon Jungkook shall be together.”
The crowd erupts in cheers, and your future here begins to solidify.

street racer!mattheo can't take his eyes off you even when he's driving, especially when you bring his heart to life by impressing him with your own skills.
an: big thanks to my love leigh for proofreading <3 I don't know anything about cars - this is very much inspired/uses fast and furious scenes, and I look forward to eventually writing a full fic for this au. ty for your patience as always <3 wc: 1.9k
Tumblr media
"Okay, so next time, we're definitely dancing," you say with excited exasperation, the two of you exiting the rowdy Cuban restaurant and into the heart of street life. It's nearing 11pm on Friday, the beat of the night is picking up pace, like the rhythm of a song, the lively chatter blending into the roars of cars flashing by you.
He laughs, shaking his head, "oh sweet cheeks, you won't catch me dancing," sliding his hands from his pockets, he places one on your lower back, gently guiding you respectfully. "Or at least not till the fourth shot of tequila."
The sound is so deep and rich; a low hum like a car's engine that makes your insides squirm with delight, and then he smiles like he's been doing all night. His lips curling up on the edges in a way that if his eyes weren't matching its sincerity, he'd have you queasy in an entirely different way.
The way he looks at you, brown eyes that glimmer with warmth under the glow of the amber streetlights, as if light is blooming out from inside him. It's hard not to get attached, and that's the last thing you need right now. You've only known him a week. But there's something enticing, though dangerous about him, like a shot of whiskey knowing it's going to burn on the way down but overall spreading a fire of heat in the pit of your stomach.
Offering him an infectious smile of your own playing on the challenge presenting itself. "Sounds as if you're encouraging me to get you intoxicated." Ardently, you raise a brow at his inquiry. "Is that something that interests you?"
"There are a lot of things about you that interest me." His eyes sparkle with mystery, as he grins boyishly like he knew the affect those words would have on you.
You play it cool and collected, smiling back at him, the two of you strolling side by side, the silence isn't uncomfortable, and it hardly seems quiet with your heart becoming erratic, thumping around inside your ribcage like a hummingbird's wings.
You pass by distinct smells of nicotine, a cigarette shared by couples couped in the alcoves of their doorways. Clangs and rackets of neighbourhood cats, balancing along fences, chasing one another. There are bopping beats of music heard from the thriving clubs and bars further down, invitingly attracting groups of young people from all over town.
"So, this is me, my ride." Mattheo comments, as he stops you outside a parked bright orange car. He's offered to take you home, for a multiple of reasons. Some are selfish, wanting to show off his baby, not that he thinks you'll be highly interested, but it's his ego and pride, and it's worn just like the paint and wax shining proudly on the exterior.
Other reasons, safety and protectiveness. He's always cared about women, and while he's only known you a week, he's grown extremely fond of you. He doesn't want you catching the bus like how you got here. And well, third, he just can't take his eyes off of you. He's never smiled so damn much on a date, the unfamiliar feeling of it beginning to make him nauseous. But it will be worth it, if it means he gets to see more of you.
"Woah, no way! You drive a supra turbo MKIV? That's so sick." The sudden and surprising exclamation from you makes his heart pound faster. Your jaw is practically touching the concrete, unable to pull your eyes away from the beast before you, a glimmer of awe in your eyes.
That is before you remember you're actually trying to impress Mattheo and not come across like a psychotic car fanatic, clearing your throat and tucking your hair back timidly. "I mean it's, um, a pretty colour."
He laughs heartily, amused by your quick and terribly obvious action to hide your knowledge of cars. He flashes you a charming smile, feeling in wonder at the woman beginning to unravel, fishing his keys out. "You know cars?”
Pulling your eyes off of his car, you nod, admitting your fascination with them with a wide grin, "Yeah, a thing or two."
“You wanna take a spin?"
Flabbergasted, you speak, "What, seriously?" When you realize stupidly, this is your only way home you're clambering into the vehicle with buzzing excitement. It's so beautiful, the interior's sleek black seats lined with soft leather that have you sinking right into them.
The dashboard illuminates, lighting up a neon orange, and the roar of the engine comes to life. It’s loud and powerful and makes your heartbeat full of adrenaline, a smile gracing your lips with excitement.
Mattheo's expression matches yours, his eyes blown a little darker, revving the car again, the deep rumble vibrating down to his bones. He flicks on the radio before he shifts the clutch into drive, taking off down the road and merging into the mainstream flow.
It's busy, the night awakening with charged energy as Mattheo swerves in and out between gaps of cars, the wind blowing through your hair, the summer warmth of ocean breezes. "Where do you wanna go?"
You look over at him, only to find him already looking at you. The contact makes your pulse spike just like the kilometers increasing on the dash are. Your heartbeat pounds in your head, matching the roaring of the car. You don't even know him that well, and yet you have full trust in his ability to maneuver through the thick onslaught of traffic without looking.
He’s clearly got an edge of cockiness to him as his eyes continue to flicker back and forth, always taking the extra time to focus his gaze on you just a little longer. "Up for ice cream?"
The casualness in which he asks makes you laugh, "Might wanna keep your eyes on the road, pretty boy."
“Why you think we’re gonna crash?”
Flashing him a playful grin, you shrug. "Not sure yet. Should I be making a bet?"
He grins, enthused by your lack of worry, his hand shifting up the gear and pressing his foot harder onto the acceleration, the two of your eyes staying locked in contact. Mattheo's eyes no longer resembled that cool tone of warmth he exerted in the restaurant.
They shine brightly with a glimmer of exhilaration and a hint of darkening mischief. His smile is full and broad, expressing the thrill and joy he felt, like a boy with his favourite toy.
The car zips with smooth control in between gaps, as flashes of vehicles pass in a blur on either side. The steady hum of vibrations continues drowning out the radio completely. All that's left is the wind, and the intense atmosphere shared between the two of you, making you wanna stay in the car forever.
A wave of disbelief cascades out of you with a breath of relief when he finally breaks, slowing down for the nearest stoplight. His eyes finally break their contact from you, and he relaxes his grip, flexing his fingers on the steering wheel. Taking the next right, he pulls up to the sidewalk, outside an adorable ice cream shop.
He tousles his dark curls, gazing at you with admiration he can't help but feel a sense of pride for your reaction to his flirtation. "How this?" Your body feels electric, the familiar dopamine rush fuelling every nerve. It's been so long since you got in a car this fast, you're craving more. "Not bad show pony." Grinning, you run a hand through your windblown hair, detangling the newly made knots.
"Driving or the dessert?" Mattheo asks, offering a toothy grin, angling his body towards you, resting his arms along the tops of the steering wheel. He's eager to impress. It's not often Mattheo wants to put real effort into his dates with pretty ladies. His mind constantly set on autopilot, a two-step routine. 1. Rev the beast and blow her mind and 2. rev his beast and blow her mind.
And now he sits, admiring a beautiful woman, sitting in his passenger seat, looking like she's stepped straight out one of Enzo's automobile sex magazines. Excluding the lack of clothing, though, his mind has already gone there.
But there's something more about the way you're looking at him, a burning blaze of wildness that lights your face. It's radiant and alluring and he feels the pull, the magnet attracting him further in, something you're offering he didn't know he wanted.
You huff, amused, and don't answer yet, letting his question linger in the charged space between you two. "Both."
Pleased with your answer he begins to exit the car when you spit out the proposed suggestion, an itch that's dying to be scratched. "But! may I counter a second opinion?"
He sits back down at your polite protest, shrugging, he doesn't mind what the two of you do as long as you're enjoying yourself. "Yeah, sure just tell me where you wanna go."
"Actually, is it cool if i drive?" With a flutter of your lashes, you give him your best adorable smile full of sweetness, a known trick of yours to make a man concave in a heartbeat.
He raises an intrigued brow, wanting to make sure he's heard you correctly. "You want to drive?" The genuine smile on your face melts his heart, and he's suddenly stammering around like a dickhead, "Ah-I mean yeah alright."
As the two of you switch places, he can't help but think what the hell he's even doing, letting some random chick drive his baby. But it's that look in your eye, the sense of belonging and ease in which you sink into the driver's seat, that makes him relax with full faith you won't crash his precious car.
Gripping the soft leather of the steering wheel, you immediately feel at home in the right seat. Familiar goosebumps of excited nerves prickle at your skin, turning the ignition, awakening the car back to life. Pressing your now bare foot hard onto the acceleration, you veer off, merging back into the nighttime flow of traffic. The prodigies breathe, blasts through the vehicle as you turn the speaker up, giggling with comfort.
Mattheo watches bemused by your infectious happiness, how comfortable and free you appear. The wind fanning out through your hair, as you grip the wheel with a sense of familiarity glancing at him every so often with full-blown bliss. The car cruises into downtown Miami; zooming along the roads smoothly and Mattheo starts up the conversation again.
"Not bad-" his words halt on his tongue as the car swerves, swinging around wide, cutting across the next lane spinning in a 180, positioning the car backwards. That contagious laugh fills the car once again, as blares of horns honk from left and right at the sudden commotion.
His sweet brown eyes widen in surprise, and you giggle again at his reaction, snapping your head behind to see where to go. The car waltzes in and out of spaces, maneuvering skillfully between the lanes.
He’s never believed in a god above, or soulmates or true love for that matter, but in that moment as his heart threatens to jump right out of his body he’s sure destiny has thrown him a bone and landed the most perfect woman in his lap. With everything he's learnt about you in the last couple hours, this knocks it all out of the park. How can a woman be this hot? His body is tense, including his cock that he swears is spurring to life faster than the miles on the dash are pushing.
He's frozen, mesmerized at the scene, stuck in a state of pure astonishment and awe. His pulse is rising as he looks at the window, watching how the car swerves sharply. Repositioning itself facing forwards, to take the next right onto the offramp, leaving behind the sounds of tires screeching and another round of horns blaring behind.
Glancing at him, another free-flowing giggle escapes catching his bewildered stare, the car coming to a halt outside a charming sorbet parlour. Cutting the engine, you slip your shoes back on and exit the car.
He's still a little dazed comprehending the fact he wants to skip the rest of the date and drive you straight to bed the keys landing in his lap. You offer one of your famous shit-eating grins already on the pavement, “come on, keep up, Bambi.”

When Hinata Shoyo left for Brazil, it was like an eclipse over your life.
You’re best friends so you still talk almost every day, whether it’s quick messages squeezed into busy days or a video call right as one of you wakes up and the other one is about to sleep. But Hinata was the sunshine in your life - a bright, burning ball of energy that powered your days. When he left, everything went a little bit gloomier.
You’re busy yourself with college – meeting new people, keeping up with classes, and making time to catch up with everyone from Karasuno. Still, it feels like a candle trying to compete with the sun.
So when you show up at a house party, not really feeling up for it but wanting to see your old classmates again, you stop dead in the doorway.
Sitting on the sofa, surrounded by everyone you know, you see shock of orange hair and hear a familiar laugh. Your mouth falls open.
“Sho…?”
Hinata turns at the sound of your voice, a broad smile breaking out on his face. The moon slides to the side, the sun shining again. Your heart thunders in your ears.
“Y/n!” he calls out, leaping up and sprinting over to you.
You’re still in shock when he scoops you up into a hug, squeezing you tight.
“You’re here?” is all you can say.
Hinata doesn’t stop hugging you but you hear him laugh, vibrating through his chest.
“I wanted it to be a surprise.” He pulls back to grin at you, brown eyes alight. “Are you surprised?”
You huff out laughter, your shock subsiding, and wrap your arms around his neck for another hug.
“It’s a great surprise,” you say, smiling hard.
It’s only when you put your arms around him that you realise how big he’s gotten. He’s a few inches taller than before and he’s broader than you remember, his shoulders hard as rocks. When you pull away from the hug, you hope he doesn’t notice the blush dusting your cheeks.
You both make your way into the party to a chorus of greetings from your old classmates. Hinata sits back down on the sofa but you linger, realising all the seats are taken.
“Um…”
“Sit here, y/n,” Hinata says, patting his thigh.
You don’t know why the idea makes you blush so hard – you and Hinata were always physically close, not afraid to hug or touch. Maybe it's because it's been years since you saw him in person. Maybe it's because...
You search his face for any sign he feels as flustered as you but he’s wearing an easy smile, his head cocked to the side as he waits for you to reply.
“S-sure,” you stammer out.
As soon as you slide onto Hinata’s lap, his arm snakes around your waist, resting his hand on your hip. His thighs are solid beneath you, as built as the rest of him. You obviously knew he trained hard in Brazil but you didn’t realise just how much he’s changed. You chance a glance at him, wondering if anything else has changed.
Hinata catches your eye.
“You okay?” he asks, flashing you a smile. “Comfy?”
Confidence. Hinata hasn’t only gained muscle in Brazil – the awkward teenage boy you knew has been replaced with a man. A man who flirts with his best friend, who invites you to sit on his lap with ease.
You wonder if he’s flirting because it’s you or because it’s his personality now. You’re not sure.
You’ve been quiet for too long because Hinata’s smile starts to drop. His eyebrows furrow.
“Seriously, you okay?” He lowers his voice, leaning in closer. “You don’t need to sit here if you don’t want.”
You shake your head.
“No, it’s fine. Sorry, I was just…” You give him a sheepish smile. “I was thinking, you’ve changed a lot.”
“I have?” Hinata looks genuinely confused before his expression clears. “Oh! Yeah, I grew like three inches!”
He grins wide and you smother your laughter.
“I mean, yeah, that,” you say. “But you’re like… bigger.”
You get the first glimpse of the Hinata you used to know as his cheeks tint pink. He rubs the back of his neck bashfully and you’re treated to his bicep bulging with the movement.
“Heh, yeah, I guess so.” His eyes swivel to yours. “You’ve changed too.”
This catches you off guard. You glance down at yourself before looking back up at him.
“Me?”
“Yeah. It’s like you get prettier every year.”
Your cheeks go hot. Hinata holds your gaze and you get a familiar feeling in your stomach, something you haven’t felt since he left. Intense, like you’re looking directly at the sun. Your skin prickles and you feel light-headed, like you’ve been sunbathing too long. It’s the effect Hinata has on you, that he’s always had on you.
Your sunshine.
Hinata’s hand tightens on your hip, not looking away. There’s something taut between you that thrums with electricity. You know there’s a party full of people around you but everything around Hinata has fallen into darkness. He’s the burning ball of fire in front of you, blocking out all else.
“I really want to kiss you,” he confesses, voice low and thick. “But I want to do it somewhere better. You deserve somewhere better.”
Your throat feels suddenly dry. You open your mouth to say something but your voice sticks. You give a small nod instead, not able to tear your eyes away from his.
“Let me take you out tomorrow,” Hinata says. “Please?”
You lick your lips to wet them and Hinata eyes dart down before flicking back up.
“Yeah,” you manage to croak out. “I’d really like that.”
Hinata grins like he’s just won a volleyball game, his ears pink. You both return to the chatter of the party but you feel Hinata’s thumb tracing circles on your hip, his hand on you the entire night.
*
You spend the entire next day trying on clothes and throwing them to the floor. Hinata had told you to dress nice and be ready for 7pm but he insisted on keeping the rest a secret. The closer that 7pm gets, the more frantic you are.
Eventually, you settle on a short black dress, showing just enough leg and cleavage without looking like you’re about to hit up a club. You’re finishing the last of your make-up as the doorbell goes. 7pm on the dot.
You open the door to see Hinata grinning, holding a bouquet of your favourite flowers, and your heart melts. He’s wearing a fitted emerald green shirt, tight across his chest and arms, in contrast to the fiery orange of his hair. If you hadn’t noticed the change in him before, you wouldn’t be able to ignore it now.
But Hinata’s smile falters as he sees you. He blinks once, twice, his mouth dropping open. His eyes trail down your body as his ears turn hot pink.
“Holy shit,” he exclaims.
It’s your turn to blush under the intensity of Hinata’s gaze. You gesture for him to come inside and he does as you close the door behind him. You barely have time to turn around before Hinata closes the space between you, forcing you to press your back against the door.
Hinata scoops his hand under your jaw, tilting your face up to his. You can feel the heat radiating off him as he dips his head, his other hand finding your waist. When he kisses you, he feels like molten fire.
Hinata’s lips are soft but his grip on your jaw is firm, only a fraction of his strength. You clutch at the hard muscles of his back, anchoring yourself to him. When his lips part yours to deepen the kiss, you give no resistance. His tongue meets your own as you moan into his mouth, melting under his touch. Hinata’s body responds, his cock hardening until you can feel it pressed against your lower stomach.
When he pulls away, you’re both breathless.
“I’m sorry.” He presses his forehead against yours. “I had a whole plan but when I saw you…”
Hinata tightens his grip on you, his fingers tangling in your hair as he cradles the back of your skull.
“I couldn’t help myself,” he finishes, shaking his head. “I wanted it to be perfect for you.”
“It was perfect,” you tell him and it’s the truth.
You’re almost dizzy and your skin feels like it’s on fire. You’ve always missed your best friend but now you crave him. Your hands run up his back as you reach up to kiss him again.
“Fuck…” he mumbles against your mouth. “I don’t wanna stop.”
“Then let’s not stop,” you say, kissing across his jaw.
“The reservation…” Hinata’s hips grind against yours on instinct as your lips reach his neck. “Our – ah – date…”
He groans as you lick across his windpipe, his bulge now apparent as he continues to grind it against you, his body moving of its own accord.
“I waited so long to show you…” He sounds so upset with himself.
“Sho.” You take his face in your hands, looking at him. His eyes are half-lidded and glazed over. “All I want is you. I don’t need anything else.”
Hinata’s face softens. He leans forward to bury his face in your neck.
“I missed you so much,” he says, voice muffled. “I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
You reach around to run your fingers through his vibrant hair, feeling him shudder with pleasure under your touch.
“Show me,” you whisper.
Hinata’s resolve crumbles. He’s spent so long taming his impulsive side, the part of him that moves without thinking, without regard for consequences. But now you’re in front of him, asking him to take you, and the rest of the world goes white.
He dips his head to kiss you again, this time with intent. His hands grab at you, fingers digging into your flesh as he presses you flush to him, trapping you between his body and the door.
As his tongue laps into your mouth, he reaches down to grab your thigh, holding it up and forcing your dress to ride up over your hips. His bulge grinds against your clothed pussy, the friction making your clit throb with need. You tilt your head back and sigh as Hinata trails wet kisses down your neck.
With two layers of fabric between you, you start to whine, needing more. Hinata’s spent years wondering what you sound like, imagining the noises he could get you to make, but nothing compares to hearing you for the first time.
His movements are frantic, hooking his fingers over the hem of your panties before tugging them down. They’re not even fully off, still dangling around your ankle when Hinata unzips his jeans, pushing them down just enough for his cock to spring free.
Now it’s happening – now it’s finally happening – he can’t hold back. He grabs your ass with both hands, lifting you until you can feel his fat tip pressing against your hole.
“Are you okay?” he breathes. His cheeks are flushed pink, his lips red and swollen. “Are you ready?”
“I’m ready, Sho. I need you.”
Hinata presses you against the door as he pushes himself inside. He doesn’t want to go too fast, doesn’t want to hurt you, but as soon as he feels your walls around him, he can’t help himself. He pumps in and out of you shallowly, desperate for more friction from your heavenly pussy without going too deep too fast.
“Ah!” you gasp as he penetrates your needy hole, the ridges around his mushroom tip stimulating your nerves in a way that makes your thighs quiver.
You wrap your legs around him, encouraging him deeper. Hinata is more than happy to oblige, his fingers digging into the flesh of your ass as he sinks his cock further inside you. You grip the hard muscles of his shoulders, feeling him reach the sensitive spot inside you.
When you open your eyes, you see Hinata watching your face intently, a notch between his brows. His eyes have done dark, that same intense look in his face when he’s locked onto something. Or someone.
Hinata’s cock slides back and forth over the sensitive bundle of nerves inside you and you know it’s pushing you close to the edge.
“T-there, Sho…” you whimper. “Right there, fuck-!”
Your voice is so sweet, so high with lust and need. Hinata picks up his speed, fucking you so hard the door rattles behind you. You didn’t know he had this in him, this feral side, but you’re more than happy to be on the other end of it. Your cunt is drooling over his cock, only making it easier for him to fuck you as hard as he wants.
“Sho, I’m… I’m gonna…”
You dig your nails into his shoulders, your toes curling as he brings you to orgasm.
Your plush, slick walls massage his cock, quivering around him as you cum. Hinata’s stroked himself to the thought of you before - many times - but nothing comes close to this. His fist can’t compare to the way you milk his cock, so hot and tight. But it’s your face that Hinata can’t stop watching.
The way your lips part, your features contorting in pleasure, your eyes glazed over with lust. Hinata knew when he left for Brazil that he loved you. He didn’t think he could fall any further. Until now.
“You’re so beautiful,” he groans, his cock throbbing, knowing he’s close. “You’re so fucking beautiful.”
Even as he cums, Hinata can’t stop fucking you. He unleashes thick ropes of cum inside you, still pumping in and out, a flurry of curses falling from his lips. The mix of your fluids is indescribable, the noise of your sloppy cunt only spurring him on. He keeps going until he can’t cum anymore, until it’s almost painful. Only then does he pull out, a flood of his cum following, running down your thigh.
“Holy shit,” Hinata gasps, releasing his grip on you so you can stand.
When your legs quake, he wraps an arm around your waist, holding you up.
“Fuck, Sho…” you huff out laughter.
“Yeah,” he chuckles, running a hand over his face. “Fuck.”
Hinata glances down at where your dress is stained with his cum and winces.
“Shit, I’m sorry. Here, let me clean you up. Where’s the bathroom? I’ll run you a bath.”
“Slow down,” you laugh. “Let me look at you a second, okay?”
You reach up to cup his face and he rests his hand on yours, turning to kiss your palm, his eyes never leaving yours.
“Let’s make up for lost time, hm?” you say with a smile and Hinata looks at you like you’re made of sunshine.

notes — this is my first time in a long time writing for a fandom 😵‍💫 in honor of caleb's new myth, have this haphazardly-made mess as a lil gift from me in all its unedited glory <3 addtly, this was inspired by @hoshifighting's nasty shua drabble :P
Tumblr media
Xavier
While Xavier was no stranger to being adventurous in bed, he still was surprised when you made the teensy request. “Can I try tying a ribbon around it?” you asked, moving closer to his face with a playful pout. Xavier raised an eyebrow at the question, but he played along with your antics, figuring that you were just doom-scrolling on the web too much again.
Five minutes later, as you tied a bow around the base of his hardening cock, Xavier found himself suddenly struggling to breathe. He sat on the edge of the bed with you in between his parted legs, pants down to his ankles with his cock just beginning to drip with pre. He shuddered at the sight of your darkened eyes as both of your hands wrapped around him, the silk material obscuring your skin.
“Look so pretty, Xavier…” you said slowly, your voice almost slurring. Xavier’s face flares up at the compliment and gasps when you press a kiss on the underside of his tip. “Feels so soft, too…”
Xavier hissed sharply when the tip of your tongue began tracing around the ribbon-covered part of his cock. The sensation of your wet muscle was barely there, leaving him panting for more more more.
Tumblr media
Zayne
Zayne never regrets saying yes to every single whim you could think of. But right now, sitting up on your bed with your fingers struggling to wrap the silk cloth around his cock, he might start rethinking his choices.
The air was knocked out of his lungs when your hand finally wrapped around his cock and began slowly stroking it. The silk chafes against him deliciously and Zayne can’t help the shaky moan that’s punched out of him.
“M-my love–aah, g-god…” Zayne leans back against his elbows, unable to keep sitting up with how much he’s trembling. He hears your little giggle as you slowly build up a steady pace for him. “You’re as red as that ribbon on your pretty cock, Dr. Zayne,” you whispered into his ear, your tone teasing and sultry.
Zayne couldn’t respond, instead he barely restrains his whimpers as the material grazes a sensitive vein underneath his tip.
Tumblr media
Rafayel
He laughs in your face the moment you ask about it–“A ribbon? What am I going to do with that, cutie?” he quipped.
He stopped laughing when the pink ribbon was finally wrapped around his half-hard cock. Rafayel clears his throat as he violently shudders under your fingertips, your manicured nail barely grazing his skin. “Cutie, th-this is torture… You’re literally torturing me.” he breathes.
You pointedly ignored his comment. “So pretty, Rafayel.” you purred, pressing a light kiss on the tip. Rafayel’s cock twitches in response and he slaps a hand over his mouth to stifle his moans. You grinned at his blushing face, nuzzling your cheek against his cock like a cat. “And it’s made just for me.”
Rafayel moans desperately as your mouth envelopes around his tip–he’s going to think twice before laughing at your ideas from now on.
Tumblr media
Sylus
Sylus was generally loud in bed, but he became especially vocal when you decide to bring…a uniqueness into it. While he made light of you proposing putting a bow on it after dinner, he was praying to whatever higher being there was that he’d be able to last.
“S-sweetie–unh! I- I’m–” Sylus’s hips buck into your soft hand; the red silk was tight around his girth and you had struggled to even make a decent bow while you tied it up. But the appearance of the ribbon mattered little to him–all his attention was placed onto your hand, where it was languidly stroking his cock.
You smiled at his struggle, “Yes, Sy?” you asked quietly, your teeth grazing his earlobe. Sylus’s thighs stuttered, panting harshly, unable to form coherent thoughts as you squeeze his cock. You giggled and Sylus lets out another moan as your mouth began trailing down open-mouthed kisses from his ear down to his neck.
Tumblr media
Caleb
Caleb tilts his head back onto the dining chair with his eyes squeezed close, trying not to crumple the documents in his hand as your mouth devours his tip in one go. He groans loudly into his hand when your tongue struggles to lick underneath the fabric wrapped around his cock.
When you made the request of tying a silk ribbon around him a few days ago, he thought nothing of it, contributing it to just another trend on the web that you wanted to follow. But now, in his dining room, where you kneeled underneath his dining table sucking him off with a bow around his length, Caleb was definitely in trouble.
“Fuckkkk, Pipsqueak…” he whined. He let go of the papers and raked a hand through your hair to ground himself. You sucking him off was almost a regular thing, but Caleb feared that he might cum too quickly for this.

A/N: the first of many Haymitch requests UGH I loved this and seeing soft Haymitch. Enjoy!! <3 ~~~~~~~~
The quarters in District 13 weren’t much—gray walls, stiff bedding, and a distinct lack of anything that could be called personal. Everything was practical, assigned, and strictly regulated, from the meals to the uniforms to the way time itself seemed to tick by in rigid blocks.
But somehow, you had made it feel like home. Haymitch wasn’t sure how she did it. Maybe it was the warmth she carried with her, the way she never let the weight of their reality smother the small joys you still managed to carve out of the days. Or maybe it was the way you saw things—not just for what they were, but for what they could be.
Even here, underground, you made the world seem bigger.
Your ten year old daughter, Louella was sprawled out on the cold floor, utterly lost in the book she held, her small fingers gripping the worn pages as if they contained the secrets of the universe.
Haymitch could see the crease between her brows, the slight parting of her lips as she whispered words under her breath, tasting them as she read. Whatever world she had discovered in those pages had its hooks in her now, and nothing short of an emergency would pull her out of it.
And you sat nearby, your head bent over a needle and thread, patching up yet another hole in your daughter’s jumpsuit. It wasn’t the first tear she’d fixed this week, and it sure as hell wouldn’t be the last.
Louella was always running, climbing, sneaking into places she wasn’t supposed to be. She had the boundless energy of someone who had never known anything but motion.
Haymitch liked to pretend he didn’t know where she got that rebellious streak from, but between your quiet defiance and his own tendency to do exactly the opposite of what people expected, the girl hadn’t stood a chance.
He leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest, watching them for a moment before speaking. “What’s she reading this time?”
You didn’t look up, but there was a small smile on her lips. “Poetry. About magic.”
Haymitch raised a brow and pushed off the wall, making his way over before flopping down beside Louella. “Magic, huh? Didn’t think District 13 allowed that kind of thing.”
Louella shot him an unimpressed look over the top of her book. “It’s poetry, Papa. Not spells.”
Haymitch smirked, leaning in as if she had just admitted to something scandalous. “Still sounds like nonsense.”
Louella let out a dramatic sigh and held up the book. “Just listen.”
She cleared her throat, straightened her back, and read aloud:
“The wind hums secrets through the trees,
The river sings to passing bees.
The sky bends low to kiss the land,
And leaves spell stories in the sand.”
She closed the book with a decisive little snap and looked up expectantly, waiting for his reaction.
Haymitch tilted his head. “Huh. Not bad.”
Louella beamed, victorious, and turned to her mother. “See? Even he likes it.”
You chuckled, tying off the stitch with practiced ease. “Took him long enough.”
Haymitch rolled his eyes but turned back to Louella. “So, you really think there’s magic in all that?”
Louella nodded eagerly. “Mama says magic is just seeing things the right way. Like when the sun looks like melted gold, or when the air smells different before a storm.”
You take a pause, setting down the sewing, stretching your fingers before smiling at your daughter. “My family always believed in magic,” you said, voice soft with nostalgia,
“We grew up in the fields, and we saw it in everything—the way fireflies danced like little stars, the hush of the earth before the first snowfall, the way seeds always knew how to find the sun.”
Louella’s eyes widened in that way only a child’s could, full of wonder and longing for things just out of reach. “I wish I could’ve seen all that.”
You smiled fondly, brushing a curl from Louella’s face. “You still can, sweetheart. Magic’s in the little things. You just have to know how to look.”
Haymitch snorted, shaking his head. “That why people used to call your family wild?”
That caused you to smirked at him, the corners of her eyes crinkling with amusement. “Of course. You’d know that. You’d also remember that people often said we were odd for believing in things you couldn’t hold in your hands. But it takes special people to see the magic in little things.”
Louella grinned. “Good thing I’m special, then.”
Haymitch hummed, “yes you are, sweetheart,” he said glancing between the two of them—you, his wife, with your quiet strength and stubborn belief in things bigger than themselves, and his daughter, practically glowing with excitement at the idea of unseen wonders hiding in the world around her.
Louella yawned, rubbing at her eyes but still stubbornly gripping her book. “Can I read one more?”
You glanced at the clock on the wall—lights-out was soon, and rules were strict here. But sighed, a small, indulgent smile on your lips. “Just one more.” How could you deny one of the few pleasures you were able to indulge in?
Louella grinned and flipped through the pages, searching for the perfect poem. Haymitch, meanwhile, leaned his head back against the wall, one arm draped lazily over your shoulders.
He wasn’t much for poetry, but he liked the sound of Louella’s voice as she read, soft and full of belief. Reminding him so much of you.
“The stars will shine beyond the dark,
Their light will never wane.
A whispered wish, a hopeful heart,
And magic stays the same.”
Luella looked up, blinking sleepily. “That means magic is always there, right? Even when we can’t see it?”
You ran her fingers through Louella’s hair. “That’s right.”
Haymitch huffed. “Poetry’s got a lot of nerve making promises like that.”
Louella giggled, pressing her face into his side. “You just don’t get it, Dad.”
He smirked, pulling the blanket up over her. “Guess not.”
She let out another small yawn, and this time, her eyes didn’t open again. Haymitch exhaled, shifting to pick her up. She made a sleepy sound of protest as he scooped her into his arms, but she didn’t fight it, just curled against his chest like she’d done since she was little.
You stood and followed as he carried Louella to the small cot she called a bed. He tucked her in, smoothing down the blanket while you brushed her hair back, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
Haymitch stayed there a moment longer, watching as Louella breathed slow and deep, already lost in dreams. He reached out, tucking a stray curl behind her ear. “Sleep tight, wild thing.”
She didn’t stir. You slipped your hand into his, lacing their fingers together as they stepped back from the bed.
Haymitch pressed a kiss to you temple as they settled onto their own bed. “You’re gonna turn her into a dreamer.”
You smiled against his shoulder. “Good. The world needs more of them.”
Haymitch didn’t answer right away. He just held you a little tighter, his fingers absently tracing slow, idle patterns against your arm.
Even after all these years, it still felt surreal sometimes—having this family, having you.
He thought back to the first time he saw you, standing on that stage at seventeen, trying to keep your face blank as your name was called. He’d been your mentor then, five years after winning himself. And he had been forced to watch 10 kids die since then. He was sure you would be the 12th.
And so he was forced to watch as you stepped into the arena, as you fought. But this time you proved everyone wrong as you won.
He had known, back then, what kind of person would walk out of that place. What it took to survive.
But you had come back still you, against all odds. You had come back stubborn and sharp and kind in ways the Capitol couldn’t kill. You still held onto who you were. And that alone was the perfect act of rebellion.
And somehow, in the years that followed, through nightmares and rebellion and the slow, aching process of trying to be something more than just survivors—you had found your way to each other eventually. And then became more.
Then two, became three. You had sobbed in his arms when you found out, fearing the day that she too would have to be reaped from the bowl of names. With a high chance of her dying in that god forsaken arena. The guilt, Haymitch remembered, took such a toll on you.
“How could I do this? Bring a child into this world?” You had once said. But after some time you had come to terms with the baby—Luella. Light in the dark. And a memorial name after the one of the tributes from Haymitch’s games. A sweet little girl you remembered from the Seam.
But now, you all were here, in a dimly lit room beneath the earth, with the most incredible daughter who believed in poetry and magic, in a place where hope was hard to hold on to.
And yet, somehow, you still did.
Haymitch exhaled, pressing his forehead against your hair. “You know,” he muttered, “I always knew you were trouble.”
You laughed softly, shifting closer. “Oh? Since when?”
“Since you looked me in the eye after they called your name and didn’t cry.” His voice was quiet, thoughtful. “Since you gave me an attitude that first day on the train. And especially afterward,”
Your fingers brushed against his hand, lacing together. “Guess that means you didn’t do a terrible job as a mentor.”
Haymitch huffed a small, dry laugh. “Didn’t do a great one, either.”
You squeezed his hand, tilting her head at him. “I’m still here, aren’t I?”
He didn’t answer, just pulled you against him, pressing a kiss to your hair.
You were here. You were still you. Even after everything you both had gone through.
Maybe that was magic too.
