A little wangxian au where it's a bit more technological aka they have pods where their consciousness uploads to an Android version of them that they uses to fight demons, ghosts& other corrupted robots.
Wei Wuxian uses a "normal" model (a generation off from Jiang Cheng's so as not to piss off Madam Yu) that he likes to tamper with so even if it's not top of the line& expensive, he makes it more versatile and powerful than one. Of course, he has to do that when not in Madam Yu 'z sight or he'll risk making her mad about illegally upgrading his Body.
At Mont Muxi, when Wex& LWJ gets stuck in the caves, I dunno if I want them in their flesh body or their Body 🤔. Like, for the later, they can't come back to their bodies using the emergency shut down because the cave is filled with resentful energy and that messes up the signal. But also I don't see the Wen taking the risk having a hundred cultivators in their Bodies without the risk of an uprising. So let's say, squishy human bodies but they still defeat the Xuanwu because they're badasses 💪that makes the Wen mad because wdym they defeated a rogue AI with their human hands?? When a dozen Wen in Bodies had to flee?
So when the Wen attack Lotus Pier, they uses their bodies to defend LP and Madam Yu sends them away with both Bodies and bodies. There's a bit of an emotional problem where their bodies are in a short term stasis thanks to their golden core but they can't take the risk to go back into their bodies for the moment.
Jiang Cheng distracting the Wens happens the same way but when Wwx getshim back, he and Wen Qing& Ning discover they damaged the part used to synch with their bodies to reconnect their consciousness to their bodies and that, in turns, it damaged Jiang Cheng's golden core (suspension of disbelief here please 🙏). So wwx pleads Wen Qing to do the core transfer even if it makes his hopes of coming back to his body near 0%.
Suspension of disbelief here again for how Wen Chao captures wwx please 🙏 but they take his body and Body over to the Burial Mounds and drop both there. Wwx's body dies on impact. And wwx finds himself in a place with ghosts that wants to hijack his working Body and Bodies that wants him as damaged as they are.
Three months later, he comes out of the Burial Mounds looking worse for wear but with the new ability to "connect" to corrupted Bodies and Bodies who has no more cultivator to use them (really want Bodies to only be fit for one person like swords who can only be used by one person).
Lan Wangji begging him to come back to his flesh body because staying too long in a Body damages the soul and makes the odds of returning safely to their body decrease. Of course, he doesn't know wwx doesn't have a body anymore ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and wwx doesn't want to say it/it be known.
The Yin tiger is created (allowing wwx to ALSO uses the body of fallen cultivators due to the implants in them and ghosts), uses it once and the possibility &power of it scares him so bad he doesn't touch it again. They win the war. He is hailed a hero until public opinion starts to shift slightly.
The scene at Phoenix Mountain happens the same way (since their Bodies has sensitivity &is about as human as the creators can make it (and since they're high grade, they're v humanlike) and wwx loses his kiss virginity lmao.
Wen Qing finds wwx, pleads to him to find Wen Ning and he goes to the banquet like in canon. He uses his connection to make Wen Ning "wake up" as a resentful corpse (yikes) and they flee to the Burial Mounds. There, Wwx with the help of Wen Qing, starts modifying Wen Ning's body so it's closer to a Body (aka a cyborg) to make his shaky soul a better "housing". Wen Yuan is his adorable baby self.
Wen Qing finds where wwx buried his body and now a lot of things makes a lot more sense. She takes it upon herself to help maintain his Body.
The rest happens the same. Lwj comes, they eat together, manage to help Wen Ning regain consciousness, Qiongqi Path is a massacre still, Wen Ning& Wen Qing sacrifices themselves. Wwx goes to the Pledge at Nightless City to sacrifice himself and have them keep their words they wouldn't touch the rest of the Wens. Jiang Yanli dies, he blacks out in grief. Lan Wangji gets him out, is punished by his sect& WWX overloads the Yin tiger and his Body explodes.
Thirteen years later, Mo Xuanyu sacrifices both his body and Body to resurrect Wei Wuxian which, surprisingly works! Wei Wuxian gets to have a physical body with physical needs after so many years even if Mo Xuanyu's Body is too old& damaged to work. Which is fine! He doesn't need it! And so he goes on his way to Dafan and meets back with Lan Wangji 💚💚

My 25 Favorite Films of 2024
Apologies for the delay but I finally finished my to-do list! Here are my 25 favorite films of 2024.
25. Wicked
Tumblr media
It's about time Hollywood made musicals great again. Wicked takes the iconic Broadway play onto the big screen in one of the most fun and well-crafted films of the year. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande absolutely shine as Elphaba and Galinda. From the terrific cast, the great costumes, the stellar production design to the wonderful songs, Wicked may have given new life to an underappreciated genre.
24. In a Violent Nature
Tumblr media
In a Violent Nature turns slasher horror on its head as the entire film is told from the perspective of the serial killer. For much of the film, you're literally looking over his shoulders as he targets his innocent victims staying in a remote cabin in the woods. The killing scenes are so gross yet so much fun and kind of imaginative. If you're a horror junky, you'll absolutely love this one.
23. Longlegs
Tumblr media
Probably the closest thing to Silence of the Lambs since Silence of the Lambs came out in 1991, Longlegs is a disturbing psychological crime thriller borderlining on horror about a young FBI agent's hunt for a serial killer. Nicolas Cage continues his acting Renaissance, this time completely unrecognizable as the deranged killer Longlegs leaving Agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) on a cat-and-mouse chase. Writer/director Osgood Perkins, who was probably best known as "Dorky David" in Legally Blonde, may be joining the ranks among the masters or horror in the 21st century.
22. Babes
Tumblr media
Good raunchy comedies are few and far between in the modern era, which is why Babes is worth heralding. Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau are a dynamic duo playing best friends and their journey as an expecting mother (following a one-night stand) and young mother respectively. Babes is genuinely laugh-out-loud funny and can be an instant comedy classic.
21. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Tumblr media
In an age of constant sequels, remakes and reboots, very few franchises maintain their quality like the recent Planet of the Apes films. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is yet another strong installment to the franchise with rich new characters and stunning visuals. May the apes continue their reign!
20. A Real Pain
Tumblr media
Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkan star as estranged cousins who trace the Polish roots of their late Holocaust-surviving grandmother. A Real Pain (which Eisenberg wrote and directed) is a road trip dramedy that certainly hits home. Culkan's amazing performance alone is worth the watch.
19. We Grown Now
Tumblr media
We Grown Now is a touching coming-of-age film about two young boys who live in the projects in Chicago's Cabrini-Green neighborhood in the 90s. Very few films can artfully capture childhood innocence like this one can. We Grown Now completely rides on the shoulders of its two young lead actors Blake Cameron James and Gian Knight Ramirez.
18. Monkey Man
Tumblr media
What could be described as an Indian John Wick, Monkey Man is a helluva good time. Dev Patel made a strong directorial debut as well as writes and stars in this action-packed revenge thriller with some of the best fight sequences you'll see all year. If other films he directs are this much fun in the future, then Patel will certainly have a long career in the director's chair ahead of him.
17. His Three Daughters
Tumblr media
One of the most overlooked films of the year happens to be on the biggest streaming platform (ahem, Netflix, ahem). His Three Daughters is a family drama fueled by raw emotion that truly feels like you're watching a staged play as virtually the entire film take place in a quaint two-bedroom NYC apartment. Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne play estranged sisters to come together as their ailing father takes a turn for the worse. The trio of actresses are what drive this film, particulary Lyonne's career-best performance.
16. Nickel Boys
Tumblr media
There haven't been many films as grounded and intimate as Nickel Boys, which follows to Black boys and the real-life abuse they endured at a reform school. Shot through each of their perspectives throughout the film, Nickel Boys showcases fresh talent from filmmaker RaMell Ross and from up-and-coming actors Ethan Herisse and Brandon Wilson.
15. I'm Still Here
Tumblr media
I'm Still Here is a powerful Brazilian film based on the harrowing real-life story of the 1970 disappearance of Brazilian politician Rubens Paiva under the country's military dictatorship and his wife's mission for answers. Fernanda Torres offers a powerful performance as the determined matriarch trying to shelter her children from danger while becoming a one-woman army against the authoritarian government.
14. A Complete Unknown
Tumblr media
Timothée Chalamet continues to prove he's one of the finest actors of his generation, transforming himself into Bob Dylan in James Mangold's A Complete Unknown. The film seamlessly threads Dylan's biography with his iconic music (Chalamet does his own singing!) and is accompanied by a phenomenal ensemble including Edward Norton as Pete Seeger and the film's breakout star Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez.
13. The Wild Robot
Tumblr media
Easily DreamWorks' best animated film in several years, The Wild Robot is a beautiful tale of self identity and finding family. The talents of Lupita Nyong'o show no bounds bringing life to an expressionless robot and is joined by a wonderful cast of critters. The Wild Robot is full of laughs, will tug at the heartstrings, and is a rare gem that's truly fun for the whole family.
12. Nosferatu
Tumblr media
Robert Eggers' chilling reimagining of Nosferatu is yet another example of his ability of turning horror into an art form. Lily-Rose Depp gives a star-turning performance and is joined by a powerhouse cast including Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe, Emma Corrin and Bill Skarsgård, who is unrecognizable as the iconic evil Count Orlok.
11. A Different Man
Tumblr media
A Different Man is a brilliant noir-esq comedic tragedy, which seems like an oxymoron but if you see this film you'd understand why. Sebastian Stan of Marvel fame gives the best performance of his career as a struggling actor with neurofibromatosis who undergoes experimental treatment only for the role he was truly born to play is snatched away from him by another actor with the same condition, leading him to spiral out of control.
10. September 5
Tumblr media
September 5 revisits the gut-wrenching horrors of the Munich massacre of the Israeli athletic team in the 1972 Summer Olympics from the perspective of the ABC Sports crew that was there to capture the story ahead of their colleagues in the news division. The film tackles journalistic ethics as what they choose to do (or not) could lead to fatal consequences.
9. The Brutalist
Tumblr media
Clocking in at 3 hours and 35 minutes (complete with an intermission!), The Brutalist is, well, brutal- but in the best way possible. Adrien Brody shines as famed Hungarian-Jewish architect László Toth and his life in America following the Holocaust. Actor-turned-filmmaker Brady Corbet masterfully pieced together stunning visuals, a terrific score and a phenomenal cast, cementing himself a true cinematic artist.
8. The Substance
Tumblr media
The Substance is gory, uncomfortable, and absolutely delightful. Demi Moore stars as an aging Hollywood starlet desperate to give her flailing career a lifeline. So she turns to take "the substance," leading her to some unwanted side effects. Part body horror and part dark comedy, The Substance offers perhaps the grossest view of showbiz by French filmmaker Coralie Fargeat. There'll be an Oscar waiting for Moore at the end of awards season.
7. Conclave
Tumblr media
Edward Berger's Conclave is essentially a political thriller about the turmoil that unfolds in the Vatican when selecting a new pope- and it's a lot juicier than one could ever imagine. Ralph Fiennes leads a brilliant ensemble cast that includes Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini. Conclave is a holy drama you might feel dirty about after, but that's why it's so much fun.
6. Anora
Tumblr media
Indie filmmaker Sean Baker has made his mark with his previous films (Tangerine, The Florida Project, Red Rocket), but Anora has put him on a whole new level. Mikey Madison stars as an escort who gets into bed with the son of a Russian oligarch and drama further ensues when they end up tying the knot. With elements of a heartbreaking drama and a hilarious screwball comedy, Anora is a little film with a lot of spunk and is among the most enjoyable ones in recent memory.
5. Challengers
Tumblr media
Who knew tennis could be so hot? Luca Guadagnino's Challengers puts a love triangle on the court led by Zendaya, Mike Faist, and Josh O'Connor. Fun, intense, and sexy, Challengers was one of the most memorable trips to the movies this year (that could be thanked to fantastic editing and the iconic score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross).
4. Dune: Part Two
Tumblr media
Hollywood rarely makes blockbuster films that are also cinematic achievements. Denis Villeneuve's Dune: Part Two is exactly both. This sci-fi epic is a once in a generation franchise that values storytelling as much as the action. Its climactic sequence rivals The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. From the powerhouse ensemble to the gorgeous cinematography to the iconic score to the incredible effects, Dune: Part Two is a reminder that Hollywood magic still exists.
3. The Seed of the Sacred Fig
Tumblr media
By far my favorite foreign film of 2024 is The Seed of the Sacred Fig, an Iranian drama that takes place during the 2022 protests. What's incredible about this film is that it was shot in secret because it's critical of the Iranian regime, so much so that its writer/director Mohammad Rasoulof had to flee the country as he was facing an eight-year prison sentence. Despite the film being Iranian, it was submitted by Germany in the Academy Awards' Best International Film category instead of Iran. Sacred Fig is part political thriller, part family drama featuring a strong cast and an incredible story. The film is more than just art, it's a rebellion.
2. Strange Darling
Tumblr media
Perhaps the best film that virtually no one saw in 2024, Strange Darling is a hidden gem that will blow you away, particularly if you go into it blind (so don't look up the plot!). It will keep you on the edge of your seat with twists and turns you'll never expect. Jam-packed with thrills, terror, and even some dark humor, Strange Darling will leave a lasting impression.
Sing Sing
Tumblr media
Sing Sing is truly a film for the soul. Rarely does a film consume you with so much emotion from beginning to end that will make you both laugh and cry in between. Sing Sing follows the theater program at Sing Sing Correctional Facility and nearly the entire supporting cast is made up of former inmates who did the program. Colman Domingo gives an Oscar-worthy as one of the leaders of the theater group in a desperate pursuit for clemency. Not only is Sing Sing one of A24's best films to date, it's the best film of 2024.

97th Academy Awards reactions
*deep breath* Here goes...
First off, to my followers who couldn't care less... why do I care about the Oscars so damn much? Film, as an artform, is among the multidisciplinary of all. The Academy Awards are a reminder that yes, there are big-name actors and actresses who are spoiled and make big figures. But outnumbering them in the county north of where I live are craftspeople - cinematographers, editors, composers, production designers, makeup artists, hairstylists, sound editors and mixers, and more than make this artform complete. You don't know their names and you don't know their faces, as Conan O'Brien (great job btw!) reminded us all at the beginning of tonight's monologue. They are the ones for whom an Academy Award nomination mean so much for.
After my disappointment in Supporting Actor (Kieran Culkin is committing category fraud and plays the same role always), we went to both animated categories. For more than a decade, I've been advocating for animation beyond the major American studios and Hayao Miyazaki. I've had limited success in getting followers and friends to seek those films out. So when Gints Zilbalodis and his team from Flow won the Animated Feature Oscar tonight, I was overjoyed and very, very emotional. For little Latvia, with not much of a film history, they've circled around this unlikely movie. No dialogue, a meditation of our existence and how we can get along with another so unlike us, only a handful of animators spread out from Latvia, France, and Belgium? No movie like this should be anywhere near a category that has been the province of Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar, and maybe if Studio Ghibli has a film that year. But Flow did it. And I hope Gints and team have an easier time making their next film.
This is going to be a seminal moment for animated movies outside the major American and Japanese studios - I just know it. The standards at Disney, DreamWorks, and Pixar have slipped (Illumination never had standards) over the last 15 years. I blame the success of Shrek and Despicable Me for a lot of what has happened in major American studio animation for chasing the least common denominator. These American major animation studios need an ass-kicking. Flow's win is for all of those non-Miyazaki-directed features or smaller animated features that made it to the big stage but never had a chance (like Adam Elliot for Memoir of a Snail - the nomination was the win for Snail) or never even got a sniff from Academy members.
Then, for the first time in many years, my favorite Animated Short won. In the Shadow of the Cypress' filmmakers are from Iran, and they were having a lot of visa troubles trying to get to the U.S. It also didn't help that their nation gave them little to no support while making their film and afterwards. Having landed at LAX three hours before the ceremony, they seemed almost lost for words during their acceptance speech. Congratulations to Shirin Sohani and Hossein Molayemi!
My night peaked after BOTH of my animated favorites won. I could've just called it a night there, but there was much more ceremony to go...
OK. To the categories you folks actually care for. I like Anora, and I especially like Mikey Madison in it. But is it really the sort of film that can put Sean Baker equal to Walt Disney and Bong Joon-ho as the only individuals to have won four Academy Awards in a single night? I don't think so. Anora is not on Parasite's level. 5/6 seems a little overboard for me - especially in Director and Editing (good lord the middle act of the film really drags). It'll be interesting how this film will age. We will see in time.
My personal #1 would have gone to The Brutalist - a movie I admired deeply, but wouldn't call a personal favorite. After Adrien Brody won Actor, I pretty much knew that night was done. I'm glad Brody won his, but I wish more folks realized how crucial Guy Pearce is to the success of that film. I don't necessarily think it uses VistaVision all that well, so I call into question the Cinematography win.
And though I'm fine with The Brutalist's score, the only reason why this won was because of DUH DUH DUH DUHHHHH at the start of the film. Because AMPAS voters don't know what good music is, let alone a good film score, they just award it to anything that has a memorable riff for a few seconds. Sorry Kris Bowers and Wild Robot! Sorry to the un-nominated Amelia Warner and Young Woman and the Sea! Developing a motif is alien to AMPAS voters now!
I am also OK with Zoe Saldaña winning Supporting Actress in a movie I dislike in Emilia Pérez (the concerns about how Mexican culture are depicted are warranted, the depiction of a sex change as "morally purifying" is problematic to say the least, and the film utterly fails as a musical and did not deserve Original Song). She's the best part of that movie, aside from the cinematography (which deserves a better movie. I think that makes her the first person to portray a major bridge crew office in a Star Trek movie or TV series to win an Oscar (I am not counting Michelle Yeoh because that was a bit role, not a regular role, in Discovery). LLAP.
And speaking of non-English language films... Walter Salles' excellent I'm Still Here with a performance by Fernanda Torres that would've had my Best Actress vote. Congratulation to Brazil on their first ever International Feature win (shame that Black Orpheus was considered France)! And I hope we see more Brazilian movies here in American theaters, too.
Conclave was trashy fun. And I'm glad it won for its screenplay (in another year, Fiennes might take Actor for me). It got my mom out to a rare trip to the movie theater, and was a rare moment I got to enjoy a movie with her in a theater (she's Buddhist, but she was there for all the religious drama and the costumes). This will age very well, and I already see the fandom sprouting on tumblr - watch out!
Wicked fans in my life were disappointed to see only two wins for the film. I'm a Wicked fan too, having loved the musical since my high school days. But I'm not the biggest fan of how it was adapted to the screen. There are a few problems here for Wicked's success this awards season. First, Wicked is a first part of two. AMPAS voters are disinclined to vote for a non-ending "part" if they know there are more parts coming. Second, the correlation between box office and likelihood of success at the Academy Awards ended decades ago. If we nominated highest-grossing films, the MCU would have won Best Picture across the 2010s. Good luck with the second part later this year... although, I will say Act II of Wicked is musically and dramatically less interesting than Act I. How much will Jon M. Chu pad the film?
Did the message of The Substance actually play out? A completely deserved Makeup and Hairstyling win, though!
Nickel Boys was my overall #2, never really had a chance at anything.... so I'm glad it made it here anyways.
And as someone who is no fan of Timothée Chalamet and who hated Dune the book, I am fine with Dune: Part Two's wins in Sound and VFX alone. And as someone who thought that A Complete Unknown was just an unremarkable concert film, I am fine with it being shut out.
I only saw No Other Land and Sugarcane in Documentary Feature. I cannot comment on their worthiness, having not seen the other nominees. But No Other Land - which I saw at the Art Theatre in Long Beach on Saturday morning - having no U.S. distributor (even at this stage) is shameful. The filmmakers should not have had to self-distribute their film. It is a good documentary that isn't nearly as harrowing as some other (worse) docs I've seen get distribution. In similar fashion, shame on Japanese studios for refusing to distribute fellow nominee Black Box Diaries in its native country.
The repulsively made A Lien (why is the title spelled like this? how the hell do you actually pronounce this?) lost in Live Action Short after sacrificing filmmaking craft for timeliness. The decidedly un-cinematic Incident - which shows no filmmaking prowess beyond some slick editing - lost in Documentary Short. Thank the fucking lord. That I Am Not a Robot and The Only Girl in the Orchestra won in their places, respectively, puzzles me a bit. You can find I Am Not a Robot on YouTube in most countries via The New Yorker. The Only Girl in the Orchestra is on Netflix.
It was a fun night, and we ended mostly in a timely fashion! And in one day, I can stop thinking about movies through an awards lens again for several months. Thanks to many of my followers and friends for the company this awards season! 31 Days of Oscar ends tomorrow.

So if phenoxymethy is a former medic, what was his old job and is he still doing it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To answer your question,He used to be part of a team the council created. A team that would perform empurata on other bots. And yes, he still doing that even after he quit and joined the corrupticons (my au faction).
Some empurated bots remember him or known his reputation and scared of him. In this au, he was the one who empurated Whirl. (No shockwave tho, but he wished it was him doing).
Long story short, back in the past, Ratchet was selected to be in the team but he didn't want to (since he's a cinnamon roll with kind heart) and phenoxy said he can take Ratchet's place while Ratchet stays behind, and that where his traumatic story started. I'll make a comic about his past in the future so stay toon!!!

🤖 Tell me this:
★Reblog for a bigger sample size★
Robot: a machine resembling a human being and able to replicate certain human movements and functions automatically. / It must be able to do at least one task a human could do physically in a similar way. Doesn't have to resemble physically.
Humanoid Robot: A robot resembling the human body in shape. The design may be for functional purposes, such as interacting with human tools and environments, for experimental purposes, such as the study of bipedal locomotion, or for other purposes. / Must be recognizable as replicating a human to anyone who knows what a human is.
Android: A robot with a human appearance. / Looks more passibly human. Uncanny in their similarities even if clear differences.
Cyborg: A person whose physical abilities are extended beyond normal human limitations by mechanical elements built into the body. / Person with mechanical limbs (I don't really care if it enhances it tbh, let cool tech limbs count as cyborgs of they want)
Mecha: A large armored robot, typically controlled by a person riding inside the robot itself. / Big, has a person driving... usually.
Industrial Robots: Are robotic arms that can move in several directions and can be programmed to carry out many different types of tasks in different environments. / Arms only
Ai/ Artificial Intelligence: The theory and development of computer systems able to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as visual perception, speech recognition, decision-making, and translation between languages. / A computer that can think, function, and process mentally like a human with complex thought. Doesn't require a body.
Beep Boop: @the-robot-bracket
Tagging you because I'm sure you and your followers also would want in on the sample size :D

Pretty much every major comic star of the 50s helped defend earth against the evil martians who'd come for J'onn J'onzz. Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Plastic Man, The Challengers of the Unknown, the Blackhawks, Congo Bill, Vigilante, Rex the Wonder Dog and Robotman all show up. Besides Detective Chimp and Green Arrow, this story might just have every 50s DC star in it. (Justice League of America #144):

So I've recently been reading the Murderbot Diaries and Time to Orbit: Unknown (both fantastic btw!) and despite the plot being incredibly different I've noticed some very fun similarities too:
a side character who uses neopronouns as part of a culturally recognised third gender
MC is also not male or female, but don't use third gender label either
MC is aromantic
The future has significantly more slavery than is ideal
capitalism is the cause of so many problems, both societally and for the MC personally
MC just wants to vibe, but their reputation makes them seem inclined to cause problems. (murder for one, sabotage for the other)
The AI running the ship that the MC spends the most time on is both smarter than expected and kind of an asshole
MC is more comfortable around dead bodies than most
MC discovers a dead body and has to help solve a murder (it's not the only one they see; there are overall way more dead ppl than they want)
