I'm trying to avoid getting spoiled so I haven't looked up what's happening in the Jp server's main story, but for my own sanity I need to ask; is the story at a point where we know whether Lilia will get better/survive his almost-empty magic reserves..? Was it a true death flag from the start or only a plot device for malleus' overblot....?
not yet! I do think they're going to get back to it eventually, but -- keeping it as low spoilers as possible -- there's been...let's just say a LOT going on in the meantime.
enjoy 7-6!!! :)
#twisted wonderland#twisted wonderland spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 spoilers#twisted wonderland episode 7 part 6 spoilers#twisted wonderland book 7 part 6 spoilers#i AM going to talk more about spoilers for a minute (i will try to keep it just up to 7-6 stuff though)#but i have. THEORIES.#my current hypothesis (based on absolutely nothing except vibes)#is that they're going to find the princess glow and use it to save lilia#via magic boost or...something. idk it was vaguely-defined enough they can handwave exactly how#because. look. they made a point of introducing this super powerful macguffin gemstone with magical dad-saving powers#and then never solidly established what happened to it#(twst? talk at length about something totally irrelevant that never comes up again? surely not)#but it would tie in very nicely with the rest of the parallels between silver and the knight of dawn#and i like how it would be sorta like...a little bit of meleanor coming back to save lilia#(again) (less violently this time)#my even-more-based-on-nothing theory is that crowley might have the princess glow and this might segue into whatever's going on with him#as always i could be completely wrong but i'm just. y'know. feeling it.#i'm still obsessing over that one line from episode 4 where azul was like 'oh yeah i totally know crowley's big secret'#which was most likely azul bullshitting but i'm still like IT'S GONNA COME BACK AAAAANY DAY NOW#(at this point no one will be more shocked than i) (the validation would be nice though)

Sephiroth not only possessed a photo of his mom, but has now embraced an illusionary version of her in which he could see her full body head-to-toe.
And yet he still believed a blue-skinned tangle of tentacles was his mumsy in the end.
This man’s mind was so fucking shattered 😭

...And here we come upon a problem as basic as the nature of knowledge itself: all of our prodigious cognitive and computational abilities are inadequate to a full comprehension of our complex world. As humans, we remain heavily dependent on certain tools of perception and conception that our cultural and biological heritages have taught us are useful. These tools–such as language, causal logic, religion, mathematics–are indeed powerful, but they are powerful precisely because they reduce complexity to intelligibility by projecting our mental concepts onto the world. One consequence of this is that our recognition of significance is always what some philosophers call "theory laden," meaning that it is shaped by what our theoretical framework and cognitive tools encourage us to recognize as meaningful. Anti-Judaism, as I have argued throughout this book, is precisely this: a powerful theoretical framework for making sense of the world.
...
After all, no matter how overrepresented the Jews may have been among the European "bourgeoisie," they remained a tiny minority of that class. How could that tiny minority convincingly come to represent for so many the evolving evils of the capitalist world order? More broadly, how could untold millions of Europeans (and not only Germans) come to believe–or act as if they believed–the claims of the Nazis (and not only the Nazis) that Jews and their conspiracies so threatened the security of the world that they needed to be excluded, expelled, or exterminated? According to Horkheimer and Adorno, the liquidation of the Jews of Europe was not grounded in "reality." It took place in the vast gap between and explanatory framework ("anti-Semitism") that made satisfying sense of the world to a significant portion of its citizens, and the complexity of the world itself.
They set out to explore that gap in a philosophical history of modern thought they drafted in 1944 and later published as Dialectics of Enlightenment. Their final chapter, "Elements of Anti-Semitism: Limits of Enlightenment," suggested that what gave anti-Semitic ideas their power was not so much their relation to reality, but rather their exemption from reality checks–that is, from the critical testing to which so many other concepts were subjected. "What is pathological about anti-Semitism is not projective behavior as such, but the absence of reflection in it." In their terms, the problem is a heightened resistance to reflection about the gap between our ideas about Jews, Judaism, or Jewishness, and the complexity of the world. From their point of view, anti-Semitism provides adherents with a cognitive comfort: the fantasy that the gap between our understanding of the cosmos and its fearful complexity does not exist.
...
...[A]cross several thousand years, myriad lands, and many different spheres of human activity, people have used ideas about Jews and Judaism to fashion the tools with which they construct the reality of their world. The goal of my project, like Horkeheimer and Adorno's, is to encourage reflection about our "projective behavior," that is, about the ways in which our deployment of concepts into and onto the world might generate "pathological" fantasies of Judaism. And my choice of method owes something to Auerbach's conviction that the study of a given moment, problem, or even a single word in the distant past can teach us something about a much longer history, extending even to our own.
Selected excerpts from Anti-Judaism: The Western Tradition (2013 Nirenberg, David)
#atlas entry#everyone should read this book#I know it's a lot. it's 500 pages of extremely dense academia#but it's worth it for the ways it alters your ways of thinking about Jews. Judaism and history#antisemitism and anti-Judaism are very difficult to argue against not because of their validity but their fundamental lack of it#they are by nature irrational and fantastical. that's why antisemitism maps onto conspiracy theories with such ease#they tell us that there is no daylight between the reality of the world and our understanding of it#that what we believe must be true simply because we believe it. it's extraordinarily appealing#antisemitism#jew#jewish#judaism#jumblr#antisemitism is a conspiracy theory#anti-Judaism#david nirenberg#academia

It's Charles M. Schulz's 102nd Birthday Today!
Snoopy #56
26/11/2024
Reference image under the cut :)
(source)
Also here is an interview snippet which I thought was interesting. I've never thought much about what his creative process might have been like. Also, I didn't realise that the panels he drew on were so much larger than what ended up in print. I mean, it makes sense, but I guess I always just assumed he drew up the squares exactly the way they looked in the end.
#peanuts#snoopy#art#56#charles m schulz#no he's not 102 today. he died in 2000 -- one day before the final Peanuts strip was printed#hmm not the hugest fan of how this turned out but it's quantity over quality here at onesnoopyaday dot tumblr dot com#this didn't take as long as i thought it would#probably because of how imprecise everything is#like the more i look at it the less this looks like the reference LOL WHOOPS#also re: the interview snippet... i was not expecting to resonate so much with what he said about having just the right skills#to be a cartoonist. bc i'm not the best artist or the best writer either but i can still draw and i can still write#i guess it's kinda validating to have this in common with someone whose work i have loved for a very long time#also for anyone still reading this far down in the tags: the window in the background is transparent!#so u could in theory put this over whatever you want! i'm sending schulz to outer space next :D#ah the perks of being too lazy to draw shrubbery in the bg

I have a cool idea for a canon verse sanders sides longfic. Now all I need to do is rewatch sanders sides, at least since selfishness v selfless, so I make sure I not only characterize them all well, but also make sure that I characterize their relationships from the correct starting point. And it could be fun.

The latest MatPat theory being focused around Vanessa 👁️👁️ Me when I get the giddy hyperfixation tingles whenever anyone brings up my blorbo.
While I don’t think the actual movie version of Vanessa will be revealed to be a robot (solely cause I feel like that’d be too controversial and require too much suspension of disbelief of a choice for the film franchise to make, since it is trying to appeal to a more general audience), I can see that being a possible route that allows the movies to do both Vanessa and Vanny without feeling like doing a 180 of Vanessa’s established character. This version of Vanessa doesn’t listen -> replace her with a new version of Vanessa (Vanny) who will, yknow?
#i feel very validated by this theory from when i read vanessa’s scenes from the movie novel#and threatened to strangle Scott Cawthon in a denny’s parking lot for implying that vanessa was a robot in the movie JFJSJDJ#cause yeah. that is in fact what the book says 😭😭😭 AND IT BOTHERS ME#BECAUSE HOW DID THE HOSPITAL STAFF NOT FIGURE OUT THAT LIKE#HMM MAYBE THIS WOMAN ISNT ENTIRELY ORGANIC#SCOTT CAWTHONNNNN#as always i’m not one to hate on a theory#its fnaf anything is possible. there is no such thing as wrong theories#all paths are interesting to consider#fnaf vanessa#vanessa shelly#vanessa afton#five nights at freddy's#fnaf movie#fnaf 2 movie#matpat#game theory

I realized that we don't know when the events of the song sequence occur in the story. It could be Xisuma, either because of his helmet or he got a scar because his helmet broke. Or it could be someone else who got a scar later on. Hmmm.

#I wish I had like a submission channel because some of these are very interesting and valid thoughts#but I don’t really wanna give commentary that alludes to how accurate or inaccurate they may be#I just think the thoughts should be shared with the public/that other people deserve to see the theorizing going on#it’s very cool to me#dbhc ask#dbhc#dbhc xisuma#dbhc doc#new tag? sure!#if there comes up some more I may just keep responding with a period and the dbhc theory tag#this is where I make my first sideblog/hj#dbhc theories

Also I'm just gonna say that even if it were true that Rodimus was a """""true Prime"""" and Optimus wasn't, that isn't as much of an L for Optimus as people seemingly want it to be.
Like so you're telling me Optimus was never a chosen hero and the burden of the Matrix/leadership pained him morally, emotionally, and physically, yet he still survived 4 million years of war?
You're telling me he wasn't God's Designated Special Boy but he still tried his best to live up to that impossible ideal to the point of developing serious depression and suicidal ideation as a result of so much goddamn loneliness and self-doubt?
Optimus wasn't a "true Prime" and yet he still believed in ideals of reconciliation and ending the cycle of violence? He wasn't a true Prime but he still stayed on Cybertron trying to fix a broken, broken society while also trying to stop Earth from being invaded for a second time? He didn't even need to do that he could've just stayed in exile which he was originally supposed to do all along, and which he would've personally preferred?? You're telling me that Optimus wasn't Primus' Specialest Boy And Chosen Leader and yet he stepped into leadership anyways bc he perceived that there was injustice to be fixed??
Wow yeah I guess Optimus is just such an inferior leader, clearly his actual actions/moral character as person don't matter and his "worthiness" should be judged solely on whether the Magic Cybertronian 8 Ball liked him or not.
#squiggposting#idw op love#literally the more you deconstruct it the less sense it makes#ppl want rodimus to be Validated By Canon as being better than optimus soooo badly#i get it you cant like rodimus without shitting on optimus#however when you get canon wrong i can and will roast your theories#if optimus went thru everything he went thru but somehow still isnt worthy of the matrix#then what WOULD make him worthy??? like seriously#fighting to protect organic species from colonization didnt make him worthy?#trying to find diplomatic resolutions to a 4 mil year long blood feud isnt worthy enough?#doing all of this at the cost of great personal suffering to himself doesnt make him worthy??#being willing to fight and imprison his own autobots for trying to break the peace wasnt enough?#becoming villified by most of earth/cybertron by forcing them to cooperate wasnt enough???#optimus siding with the ultimate victim of cybertronian oppression and 'defeating him' by acknowledging his pain#isnt enough to make him worthy?? THEN WTF IS ENOUGH TO YOU PPL#nothing bc 'worthy of the matrix' is just code for 'validation of my fave'#and most of the ppl in this fandom dont even know OP did all of those things anywYs#also like MOST PEOPLE arent wielders of the matrix are they unworthy too???#WHAT DO YOU MEAN WORTHINESS?? WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS ALLEGED WORTHINESS#ON THE MORAL AND THEMATIC FABRIC OF THIS STORY????#literally idw optimus embodies the same values that rodimus does#it's all about love and forgiveness and building a better future and choosing kindness over violence#And if you dont get that optimus represents those just as much as rodimus did well#you prolly didnt read very closely lol

Ok so I get the theory that Kieran is being influenced by the toxic chain after a certain point of the story and yeah there's something with it going on but it's ok to pair that + him just being an emotionally unstable kid with neurodivergent coding. Like there's no need to pick either one, both can go in hand 🤷♀️
#idk i've seen people getting really pissy if you agree with one theory but not the other#'um the people who think it's the toxic chain are so dumb' or maybe it's a very valid thought because that's what happened to the L3???#like he's like 14 or something y'all telling me when you were that age certain things didn't make your fucked mental state worse?#because damn personally undiagnosed adhd paired with outside influence fucked my ass up for life#pokemon kieran#pokemon teal mask spoilers#pokemon teal mask#vevee posting 💜#luv posting

Jon becoming KiTN in Winds (specifically) would actually be bad as far as themes go

#hot take of the day y’all 🌚#idk if I’ll write about this more in depth one day but……#jon is going through a traditional hero’s journey - perhaps almost very literally#he is currently at the lowest point of the journey which is where the hero faces his toughest mental and maybe physical battles#winds will be his innermost cave (like a gaze into the abyss) + ordeal step which have to happen before his reward (apotheosis and boon)#so unless grrm wants to paint him becoming kitn as his lowest point thematically which could mean jon knowingly usurps his siblings#-because let’s face it him being robb’s heir while valid still comes with A LOT of issues-#there’s just no way his ascension to the northern throne could thematically be good for anyone but most of all him#I tend to think that jon will be tempted -this will be his gazing into the abyss part instead of the usually accepted theory#that he just doesn’t do anything at all for the whole book- and that is what will create the most believable narrative tension in his arc#but he won’t go through with it and will ultimately choose to sacrifice himself AGAIN#pulling back from the abyss before it’s too late#so yeah his kitn prospects for winds don’t look very good….sorry to say guys :(#but if we talk about king of WINTER…that’s a different matter yes? 😀#asoiaf#valyrianscrolls#jon snow#preparing to be excommunicated from the fandom in 3 2 1…

Left Brain, Right Brain
youtube
I'm sorry but this is literally Arthur and John situation???
Right brain:
Can't speak
Controls the left side (arm for example)
Has its own opinion on different topics compared to the left one
Recognizes faces
Basically assists the left brain
Left brain:
Is in charge of speaking
Controls the right side
Doesn't recognize faces
Is probably the "leading" one in the personality perception, like "the host"
Makes up it's own explanation for stuff only the right brain knows but it still influenes the left one's actions
Now, I just watched the video and jumped right here to share it because WOW human bodies are SOMETHING aren't they, and how conveniently fitting this all is!
BUT I didn't do any further research so I have no idea how scientific the info actually is. Feel free to add to it!
#as someone with a few subpersonalities which are quite often at odds with each other#I wouldn't be surprised if it's at the very least CLOSE to the truth#at least for me#although in my case it's “the host” who's the silent one#because I don't really feel at home in this/a human body#but what can one (two?) do amirite?#anyway it's a neat little theory and I like feeling validated#and I also like when stuff ACCIDENTALLY happens to back up something completely made up#so here ya go#malevolent podcast#john malevolent#john doe malevolent#arthur lester#malevolent

#I've just been having to accept the fact my interpretation of iwtv amc is just different than the stated majority and thats ok...#I have my evidence and analysis to back it up too and the majority interpretation is fine just I... biasedly I suppose... know mine's#the one I understand it to be... And so I don't have much interest in the other. Let alone other off shoots I find wrong.#I respect it and see it though like it's valid as an interpretation usually.#In fact a lot of my own interpretation is really not too removed from the main ways it gets interpreted either#just rather robustly more in depth than I see and asking maybe better questions#Also not particularly interested in posting what my interpretation is... at this time.#because I am not particularly interested in being inundated with argument about it. that's not really how I want to engage this work.#My interpretation isn't something problematic mind as I usually come to analysis of things from a background of versed understanding#leftist theory feminist and queer theory media theory disability rights psychology philosphy history the systems of oppression and so on#I don't solidly draw my own conclusions as correct unless I can back it basically#Also I understand part of my personal interpretation is just that - personal. And that other interpretations are just as fine to have. Find#this tendency of full combatting ppls other perfectly textually valid interpretations because of an assumed 'correct' one to be very tiring#Which is really just fueling my disinterest in sharing mine further.

My interpretation of Mono and Thin Man's POV at the end of Little Nightmares 2 – or a lot of ramble about how I personally see it
I'm never getting over the fact that the scene where Mono meets Six in the Hunter's house, and the scene where he finds her in the Transmission are basically the same. He follows a nice music – the same music both times – in a scary place and finds a door. He breaks the door with an axe that was nearby. Behind the door is this little girl – tall monster girl the second time but still a child inside – playing with a music box. The girl gets scared by him breaking the door and hides in the left corner. He calls her gently, and she walks toward him all curled up in the same position, both times, looking just like a scared animal or something. Finally, she ends up freaking out and running around the place – but only the second time, she really is dangerous. Only the second time, Mono needs to break this door again and again to reach her and save her, by destroying this same. Music box. That made the little girl feel safe in this scary room where she was trapped.
You know all of the interpretations and theories for all that happens at the end of this game – what the Thin Man wanted (if he even wanted anything at all), what his level of consciousness were at this point – are so interesting and I love them all, because the whole point of this game I think is that everyone is gonna see what they want, make the connections that make them feel the most emotions. I personally chose to focus on these parallels, so my interpretation is this one :
At the end of everything, to me all of this led to one thing for Mono. He couldn't bring himself to want his friend dead, but he could think of one thing. "What if I had never met her. Never saved her. What if I had left her in this room where she was. I should've left her." And so the Thin Man made her a monster and locked her in this exact. Same. Situation. Maybe at this point he didn't have consciousness left except the confused feelings that made him what he was, but he did that. And from Mono's POV the first time he saw this room... It was just like saving Six a second time. Both times were about saving someone – when he met her, then when he rescued her. Saving a potential ally the first time, and a friend the second.
But then she betrayed him – for whatever reasons she had, a lot of interpretations are interesting to me but it's not the point here – and from Mono's point of view, he couldn't understand why. From his point of view, he never wronged her. He always helped her. He saved her so many times. Put himself in danger for her so many times. The scared little thing he found in the Hunter's house became his friend. He trusted her. Why would it be different the second time ? Why would she betray him the second time ? Why ? He did everything RIGHT. And at the end, for Mono only this feeling stayed, the only thing that was left of him after the sadness and anger drove him mad and he became a monster ; deprived of any consciousness, deprived of everything he was except this unsufferable guilt and regret that would later determine his actions, even if after a while he couldn't remember why exactly nor think rationally :
"What if I had never met her. Never saved her. What if I had left her in this room where she was. I should've left her."
And so he goes and tries to fix that. Maybe at the beginning he really had a plan, when he was still fully conscious – using his past self to prevent him from meeting Six. Sending him messages through the TVs. Using the power he had to FIX THIS. Fix the mistake he made to save Six, or at least warn his past self before it's too late. To me he didn't want revenge – he wanted to FIX things. But as he became a monster he lost consciousness. We talk a lot about how he potentially felt, slowly seeing himself becoming the Thin Man... but maybe he never even truly had the time to realize it, as he was spiraling into madness. And all that was left at the end was really just this feeling of a twisted logic. "I should've left her where she was. I can fix this by putting her back where she was."
#this is my first real “meta” I think ? I usually never post them so please be nice ;-;#sorry if I repeat myself a lot here lmao#this is my interpretation of the ending through Mono's POV#no theory is more valid than another considering the fact this game wants us to make our own interpretations#and this is what I love about it#maybe I wrote too much I'm just very passionate lol#little nightmares#little nightmares 2#mono#mono little nightmares#little nightmares mono#the thin man#the transmission#the signal tower#little nightmares theories#meta
