Fun (or not so fun) facts I collected/googled while staring at the CoL disaster demigods way too long...alle Angaben ohne Gewähr :'D @curse-of-lauzarus | @shineyfroggo korrigiere mich bitte, falls was nicht passt lmao.

Ordnet man die göttlichen Elternteile der disaster demigods in Götter-Kategorien ein, erhält man folgende Einteilung:

12 Olympier | Hauptgottheiten

Poseidon (Arden)

Hermes (Tay)

Athene (Lark)

Aphrodite (Val) [*Aphrodite zählt, obwohl sie von Uranos abstammt. In der Homer-Version ist sie eine Tochter von Zeus]

Gottheiten der Unterwelt bzw. Götter, die dort residieren

Thanatos 2 x (Cora & Irene)

Persephone (Gus)

Morpheus (Vlad)

Eos (Kiiya)

Das ergibt wiederum diese Verwandtschaftsverhältnisse, (wenn die in Percy Jackson irgendwie relevant wären, aber da haben die Götter ja keine DNA im eigentlichen Sinne, sofern ich mich recht erinnere)

Tay, Lark, Yūhei und Gus (ebenso Val, je nachdem wie man Aphrodite zählt) wären theoretisch Cousins (Ihre göttlichen Elternteile sind alle Kinder des Zeus, je nach Quelle)

Wie man bei Vlads Charakterseite schon sieht, sind Cora und Irene seine Cousinen, sogar auf “normalen” Wege ohne irgendwelche Inzestgeschichten wuhu 🥳

Eos hat zu keinen ein Verwandtschaftsverhältnis, außer man rechnet Aphrodite aus “Tochter” des Uranos, der wiederum der Großvater von Eos ist :’) Somit könnte man Kiiya und Val eine Verwandtschaft anrechnen.

Was ich aber sehr unterhaltsam finde, ist, dass es eine Erzählung gibt, nach der Aphrodite eifersüchtig reagierte, nachdem Eos mit Ares anbandelte und sie Eos deshalb mit einer unstillbaren Begierde nach sterblichen Männer strafte. So ist Eos dazu verdammt, dass sie sich immer nach Männern umsieht, wenn sie mit ihrem Wagen über den Himmel zieht, Das erfüllt sie mit so viel Scham, dass sie errötet, was wiederum auch den Himmel rot werden lässt. 

Sieht man sich nach dem Geburtsdatum den Wochentag an, so sind die meisten disaster demigods geboren am:

Freitag (Vlad, Lark und Tay)

Sonntag (Cora)

Samstag (Val)

Donnerstag (Yūhei)

A close cousin of the Tibetan Mastiff and extremely similar to the Mongolian Bankar to the point where the line between breeds is blurry, this guard dog hails from the region of Buryatia and northern Mongolia. From what I've gathered anecdotally the difference between these guys and the Bankar is a more close fitting coat with less pronounced mane, more bone, and supposedly a bit more tolerance towards strangers.

Lazarus Entscheidung

I know I know eigentlich wollte ich noch die restlichen Fragen beantworten. Aber ich merke gerade wirklich dass meine Konzentration ein bisschen hardcore nachlässt... und ihr habt auf jeden Fall lange genug auf eine Entscheidung gewartet… daher an dieser Stelle auf jeden Fall ein dickes, fettes Dankeschön für eure Geduld und eure Motivation. Es hat mich wirklich mega gefreut gehabt, dass die Geschichte doch mehr Anklang gefunden hat als ich gedacht hatte ^-^ und dann erst all die guten Steckbriefe die angekommen sind 👀 

Wer hätte Gedacht, dass diese Geschichte mit einem dummen Scherz und einer eher spaßeshalber gemachten Collage entstanden war XD 

Und holy ihr habt es mir wirklich nicht leicht gemacht 🫠 es war wirklich ein Kampf und bei jedem Steckbrief den ich gelesen habe dachte ich mir nur „och DAS wäre doch was“. Nur leider kann ich am Ende doch nicht alle Charaktere annehmen und muss mich daher ein bisschen beschränken. Auch weil es zum späteren Zeitpunkt aufgrund der Prophezeiung leider eine kleine Begrenzung der Charaktere geben wird und ich mir was einfallen lassen musste, was mit den übrigen Charakteren sein wird. Ich denke, ich habe eine ganz guten Mittelweg gefunden… I mean, für mich als Autor habe ich einen Weg gefunden, die Charaktere werden leiden müssen…

Geplant waren ja eigentlich nur 5 Charaktere anzunehmen buuuuut well Nummer 6 hat sich irgendwie jetzt da hinein gemogelt und war leider nicht wieder wegzudenken … deswegen habe ich entschieden eine “special NC” (wie ich sie jetzt getauft habe) Spate zu machen und Nummer 6 zusammen mit Lark dorthin zu packen 

Habe ich Lark primär aufgrund ästhetischer Zwecke in  diese Sparte hineingesteckt? Maybe… but not just bc of that.

Wie wird es jetzt weitergehen: Die Webseite wird in den nächsten Tagen ein kleines Update erfahren. Es folgt noch Vals Vorstellungs Kapitel und dann schauen wir mal was mein Hirn so hergeben wird. An sich ist das Kapitel darauf auch schon geplant aber wahrscheinlich wird dieses sich jetzt noch ein bisschen ändert. Es wird wahrscheinlich noch der ein oder andere kleiner Mini-Zusatz kommen. Generell werde ich vor allem zwischen den “Epen” hier und da nochmal kleine Zusätze für euch haben um euch auch weiterhin in die Geschichte zu involvieren und damit ihr das Schicksal eures Charakters auch aktiv beeinflussen könnt.

Aber ja, dass wars jetzt erst einmal von mir ^-^ ich geh jetzt pennen… der Tag war lange genug 😂

A very, very long time ago, back in school, I read "Volkodav" and "Valkyrie" by Maria Semyonova, and I was absolutely delighted. Twenty years later I was called to draw a map for another novel by this author. "Shadow from the North" is Slavic fantasy with elements of Karelian-Finnish and Nordic mythology written by Maria Semenova and Anna Gurova.

I was lucky that my family loved all kinds of Russian movies and shows, so spoken language was not difficult. But. I still struggled SO much to read texts specifically. It helped that I wanted to read fantasy, but it was only available in Russian at that time. I started with the official Russian translation for anthologies out of the 'Dragon Lance' saga, and then eventually I could add 'Igromania' and 'Mir Fantastiki' magazines to my reading roster.

(Semyonova's 'Volkodav' still threw me off so much, the language was very difficult for me at the time, but I am glad I made it through; I really should re-read it some time, to check if I have improved)

TBH I wish our English teachers had made us use the Merriam-Webster, or its alternatives. Alas, only the last one did, when we were already on our way out of high school. It'd have made life so much easier.

Language Learning Tip: Embrace Authentic Texts

My high school English teacher once quipped, "If you rely on a Russian-English dictionary, you'll end up speaking 'Russian-English'." She encouraged us to use Merriam-Webster instead, even if it meant chasing down ten new words for every one we looked up. After months of sweat and frustration, our whole class reached a conversational level in English.

To rephrase her wisdom for Russian learners: if you stick to materials designed for foreign learners, you'll speak "Russian as a Foreign Language." Too often, I see learners hit a wall of disappointment when they transition from simplified storybooks to real Russian texts. Even those who can breeze through long tales in learner's books might struggle with just a couple of paragraphs in a Russian social media post. It's not just the slang; it's the deceptive syntax of Russian that throws learners off.

But that's the language in its natural habitat. To save yourself time and frustration, start reading authentic materials as soon as possible. Trust me, you'll thank yourself later.

So hey, this might be old, but I used to love the ‘’Volkodav’‘ movie, and I still do love it, but... not to the degree I did before I got the book.

IDK why they felt the need to add all the unnecessary fantasy shit to it. IDK why they made Zhadoba some ultra-super-natural being when the dude was literally just a bandit (who met less than glorious death... well, for him, anyway). Where did the scene with the fog come from, and wouldn’t have it been much cooler if they actually did the thing that was there in the book? IDK why they added the thing with Morana. Where did the Deer girl go? She was literally one of the main reasons the protagonist survived at the end. Why did they make Luchezar a super duper traitor bad guy when he was literally just a pompous prick addict to the ‘’white powder’’??? What happened to Volkodav’s strange dreams? Yelena was learning how to fight, did you all sleep during that part, somehow??? They did not get together, at the end.

Like, I know the series’ genre is fantasy, but they could have literally made the movie faithful to the book and it’d still be fantasy, without all the crap that was added.
