Tubbo: You seemed– when–

Pac: I wasn't happy.

Tubbo: I mean, you were happy when we were chatting before about about the railway? Maybe- maybe there's other- other places to find joy, other than a briefcase full of very... unlabeled pills?

Caitlyn and Ambessa's Game of Cat and Mouse pt. 2 - "The Blade Cuts Both Ways"

Ambessa gives Caitlyn an update on finding Jinx, expecting that the update would encourage Caitlyn to take action. However, Caitlyn learned that they only found that information out by instigating violence against innocents, something she's Less than pleased about. When Ambessa says to her, "you don't trust me" it doesn't read as "your suspicious that i have ulterior motives" just more, "you don't trust me to handle Jinx/Zaun in the way we agreed upon."

Caitlyn's response? to throw her words back at her. "The blade cuts both ways." Ambessa not willing to commit to the terms that Caitlyn has set causes Caitlyn to not trust her. And you can see the suspicion in Caitlyn's face as she says this, that little voice that's keeping her on edge around Ambessa.

now Ambessa's response, "Fearless child. You never shy." seems like Ambessa saying that Caitlyn doesn't shy away from letting Ambessa know how she feels. and the look in Ambessa's eye seems to say that Caitlyn's playing too much of her hand, that she's starting to tell off Ambessa that she's suspicious of her.

as a response, Caitlyn decides to ask Ambessa for her recommendation. play into Ambessa's hand, seem that she's willing to take Ambessa's advice. Ambessa's recommendation is to arrest and interrogate people until someone slips up and reveals her.

Which immediately causes problems for Caitlyn because they need cause instead of just nabbing random people. and when Ambessa says "to return peace to the city", Caitlyn's response says it all.

"Why is peace always the justification for violence?"

after she says this, Ambessa goes on a long spiel about losing loved ones, playing into Caitlyn's grief, saying that she won't be able to properly rest until she's found Jinx. but adds on at the end that maybe she underestimated Caitlyn in being able to forgive, and you can start to see Caitlyn's internal battle behind her as she's saying this. however, if she admits that to Ambessa, she's most likely going to drop her, which will make her lose her ability to be close to Ambessa to see what's going on with her. So, Caitlyn decides to allow them to interrogate people in order to locate Jinx. it's not an easy decision for Caitlyn to make, but to be able to stick around Ambessa she feels she has to do it.

You can see the conflicted emotions in Caitlyn's eyes, she isn't inherently cruel, she doesn't like that people are being hurt by this decision that she's made, but when it came to appeasing Ambessa it felt like a necessary one for her.

I wonder how Daiya would feel if Mondo died?

Not during the race, but if there was some kind of turf war or gang rivalry that somehow led to Mondo getting wounded too badly. How would Daiya react to his 15 year old brother lying in his arms, coughing up blood, telling him that it hurts and he's scared. He wouldn't be able to keep any of the promises he's making to the teen, but he still says that he'll keep him safe and everything will be ok.

Would there be carnage when Mondo's eyes lose the already pale lavender they hold? Would there be bloodshed when the hand gripping his Anaki's jacket becomes too weak to hold on any longer? Would the tears finally be allowed to fall when the white lights appear at the end of the tunnel?

Would the brunt of the violence be towards the other gang or to Daiya's own psyche?

Would Daiya hold on tighter when his brother can't hold on at all anymore?

How long would it take for the other Diamonds' to convince him to stand up and fight? Would he even hear them over the sound of his own heart shattering? Would he hear them over his pleas for Mondo to just wake up?

I wonder, very deeply, how Daiya would be able to live with himself after practically guiding Mondo by the hand to Death's door.

Finished some fanart earlier today. Was excited to post it. Then I open up the file just now to export it and hate how the character's face looks. ooouughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh art is pain.

People often bring up the omake No Respect Time to use as Crocodad Propaganda, and y'know, I think there might be just a smidge more the omake can provide to Crocodad than what people have already discussed in the past

Like everyone's seen the comparisons between Crocodile and the anime screencaps of Don Luffyone, we all know how the two look so similar etc etc. But honestly, the resemblance is even more obvious (and hilarious) when you look at the OG manga version (Sidenote but Don Luffyone is the only one who smokes cigars in the omake... Everyone else has plain ol' cigarettes... That sure was a decision there Oda)

And yeah, you might be thinking I picked this mangacap of Crocodile in particular because the resemblance is the most obvious here and I have My Crocodad Agenda to push etc etc. But I will have you know that the original omake was from Log Book 5, which was published February 28th 2006. Meanwhile that Crocodile is from the cover of chapter 398, published February 6th 2006. So these were drawn by Oda around the same time. I didn't just cherry pick this cover page because it's convenient for my evil agenda, if these were drawn around the same time then the likelihood the resemblance is intentional does legitimately go up a little. (Also since they're both drawn by Oda instead of random animators, again, it's a bit less coincidental and could be a bit more intentional)

But as I said, I think there might be more to the omake than that.

In the past people have also pointed out and joked how a mere few months before Oda revealed Dragon was Luffy's father to us in the story (post-Enies Lobby), in the Monster Time-omake Luffy was depicted as a dragon.

Needless to say, people believe this was intentional foreshadowing (/trolling) to the Dragon reveal by Oda-- if not it'd be one hell of a coincidence at the very least.

The reason I'm bringing that up is that if people think it's safe to assume Oda was hinting at Luffy's heritage in one omake by making him a dragon like his father, then why couldn't Oda do the same in another omake (by making Luffy a mafia boss who smokes cigars like his father)? Keep in mind that Monster Time was published in May 2006 (in Log Book 7), just three months after No Respect Time. So again, these are from the same era. To me, that just makes the resemblance between Don Luffyone and Crocodile seem even less coincidental

Oh, but there's one more omake I want to bring up.

So people do often bring up Nerd!Luffy's appearance in One Piece Gakuen spin-off manga, pointing out how much he looks quite a lot like the Theoretical Child Oda gave to Crocodile in that one SBS. Yeah. So. 'Bout that.

There was this one omake called Red Hair of Class 3-Sea Time, in which Luffy was a loser ass nerd. And man, that resemblance

Like it's one thing when a spin-off manga drawn by a different artist does A Thing. It's another when Oda himself does it

One of my favorite things to do is make up art projects for me and my friends and then force everyone to play in a space with me.

A friend shared this lovely art and it made me think "hey what if we all drew ourselves as fantasy RPG NPC characters in a dnd-meets-stardew-valley type setting." And enough people were foolish enough to say "yeah that sounds fun!" that I turned it into A Whole Thing.

I really wanted to treat this like an assignment for myself, so I spent some time thinking about what my character would be, what they might wear to fit that role, and I wanted to try making some sort of appropriate and cool outside. I haven't done silhouette sketches in....a long time. But! They were fun to explore.
