Mega Man Zero 2 Part 2: Operation Righteous Strike
The Computer Area is a pretty darn good ice level, maybe a bit dickish with the enemy placement at first, but pretty damn solid overall, with some fantastic music to boot. The boss is a joke, a good first time boss, slow as shit and pretty predictible
The train level is...fine but disappointing. It doesn’t have nearly the same energy as Slash Beast’s stage in X4 and this is one of those levels where the screen crunch issue of Zero 1 rears its ugly head again with enemies being flung at you from offscreen when you’re on top of the cars. Still it’s an ok level at least
The temple level is also pretty damn solid, with some nice hidden secrets too!
We also get our first Sub Tank here! Sub Tanks were exclusively tied to Cyber Elves, however here you can find 2 Sub Tanks hidden in 2 levels while 2 more are tied to Cyber Elves
Sub Tanks in the Zero games are also pretty broken as, unlike in the X series, you don’t completely waste them rather you’ll only deplete them of the exact amount of health needed to heal yourself, meaning you can use one multiple times in a row.
The amount of health in a sub tank is also preserved when you save the game which is a first believe it or not
Speaking of Cyber Elves, the system works pretty much the same here as it did in the first game with one major difference: the amount of E Crystals needed to evolve them has been significantly cut down and now the levels offer you way more E Crystals than before, often rewarding exploration with more E Crystals.
So now it’s way easier and encouraged to use Cyber elves. The system is still somewhat limited as you can only carry 3 with you at a time but it’s still a big improvement and allows you to experiment more
Starting with this game if you beat a boss while also having an S or A rank (you don’t need to beat the level with those ranks, but rather have said ranks by doing well on the previous stage) you gain their special ability
Most of them are kinda there (unless you’re a Mega Expert who’s into pro play and know lots about how to exploit I Frames and such) but it’s not important since the Elemental Chip-based weakness system from previously returns
The second of these mid game stages is basically Wind Crowrang’s stage but good, although with some dickish enemy placement. I like to turn all enemies into Mets here because it makes the level way easier

Putting my response under a cut as well, for the same reasons:
This makes Flame Hyenard saying this hit completely different now:
What if the reason why his pre-battle lines are the same for all three characters you play as while everybody else has variants is because this is all Hyenard can say? If all he can do is be horribly aware of how much pain he's in? Based on the symptoms and what you wrote, he's reached the point of the infection where the maverick virus is causing him to lose control of his mental faculties. Hence why he blames each member of the three Hunters for hurting him - including Axl, someone he was once friends with. And when you combine that with how hyenas can get rabies in real life, being modeled after an animal might be working against him in this situation.
But it gets worse.
Tornado Tonion's pre-fight dialogue with X suggests that it's only a matter of time before ALL the members of Red Alert who were infected with the maverick virus end up in a similar state:
It's a good thing the Hunters got to everyone when they did. Only three of the members of Red Alert are modeled after creatures that can't get rabies, or at least can't get it the same way mammals can (Wind Crowrang is a bird, Splash Warfly is a fish, and Tornado is an onion. An entire plant). Assuming that what a reploid's design is based on affects how the virus works in their body (although, based on your post, it seems to be indiscriminate), things could have gotten way worse. And then there's Red. He was the only member of Red Alert who wasn't infected with the Maverick Virus (besides Axl, who left them before things went down), and was forced to work under Sigma in the hopes that would lead to the others being returned to their normal states. This means he would've had to watch his friends slowly lose their minds. Imagine how he would've felt if Splash's infection had made it so that he couldn't stand looking at water anymore. If Soldier Stonekong started attacking people unprovoked. If Snipe Anteater had lost his calm demeanor.
I wonder what kind of person Hyenard was before his infection. We as the player never find out, since he's long gone by the time we get to him. And we don't see what he was like in Red's flashback sequences. But from a narrative standpoint, Red must've known exactly who he was. And he must've liked him, since he considered him a friend. One worth ditching his morals for when he followed along with Sigma's plan.
Watching him slip away must've hurt.
I feel like it’s just me thing, I want to make this headcanon about the Maverick virus for a bit.
ALSO CW BELLOW A TALK ABOUT RABIES STROLL AWAY IF UR NOT INTO THIS.
I kinda notice that the Maverick Virus is kinda like a dangerous infectious version of Rabies, but for machines instead of mammals.
Like before the mother elf was a thing, the maverick Virus was said to be incurable and you what else is a commonly incurable transferable disease?
Rabies (I know there’s other diseases but this one kinda struck me a bit if you think about the symptoms of the Maverick virus and Rabies especially with dogs)
A virus that can make someone go rabid and killing them. But it can also include these symptoms. To humans (Now with dogs…Use google amigos cause ummm you get what I’m referring to)

Now knowing that Machines are different meaning that the virus just makes them more insane and aggressive. Also another factor about Rabies is that it greatly affects animals that are mammals. It doesn’t turn extremely violent right away. There are even cases that people didn’t showed signs of rabies in months and Weeks before the symptoms starts to show and things go to Shiet in days.
Now unlike regular rabies in organics, Reploids don’t fucking die days later after they show signs of the virus. They are trapped in an endless hell of anxiety, anger, pain and violence with no hope for a proper cure. The only thing that can save them is just the sweet release of death.
And don’t get me started with the Sigma virus that’s just a whole other beast to talk about.
So I cooked up the idea of the difference between Regular Mavericks and Viral Mavericks
Viral Mavericks are basically rabid reploids who basically went feral and extremely violent for no reason, unable to be reasoned with no matter how hard you try to pacify them. One day they get sick and boom their processors goes completely fried (Slowly mind you), they cannot do anything as they slowly deteriorate into violent animals, also being in agony, death is basically a mercy for them.
Normal Mavericks on the other hand, are just Reploids who just does crime, criminals doing crime stuff it’s pretty basic ya know. These also the whole society that is paranoid of robots so it’s a very fucked up (and common) way to identify ur criminals by calling them a literal disease.
LITERALLY THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT ITS SPREAD FROM BE INFECTED IS WITH VACCINES-
Like I can talk about it more about it but in conclusion
The Mavericks Virus is literally just a self evolving version of Rabies.

Mega Man X7 Part 3
And we’re back!
Snipe Anteator’s stage is borderline nauseating, what with the camera constantly spinning around everytime you enter a warp point (meaning every 5 seconds) and with said camera being stuck on your ass preventing you from seeing jack shit while you’re trying to navigate the upside down portion of the stage.
Anteator himself is the worst of the 8 Mavericks, he’s like Infinity Mijinion in that he’s such a clusterfuck of shit being flung at you with no rhyme or reason, making the best strategy just shooting at him hoping he dies before you do.
And don’t ask me about using the weakness: X7′s weapons are so atrocious that they don’t even wprk properly against the bosses they’re supposed to be used against, either because it’s incredibly awkward to hit the boss with one or they don’t do all that much damage but rather simply stun the boss for a few seconds.
Wind Crowrang is probably the most infamous level of the game and it’s all because of the first part, with the planes to be used as platforms over a bottomless pit. A combination of X7′s worthless camera preventing you from not only seeing more than 3 feet ahead of you but also from having decent depth perception, and of this game’s clunky controls (and hitboxes) makes this segment a goddamn chore: the best part is if you die you have to rewatch that intro cutscene every single time.
Vanishing Gungaroo’s stage wants to be Ride Armor centric, too bad the Ride Armors are slower than a turtle that’s had its legs broken and a 10 ton weight strapped onto its shell, and they control very stiff of course, so I mostly just ignore them and try to get through the level as quickly as I can except at the end it wants you to destroy a number of Ride Armors before fighting the boss, like it’s Sonic Heroes or something.
So we got the Glide Armor! Look at X’s gliding animation: super stiff, not even really animated at all and lacking any graphical effect indicating any sort of gliding technology, I’m surprised he’s not horizontally T-posing while gliding.
Dr.Light’s lines convince me that the devs were not really familiar with the series, because it’s pretty clear that he’s just a recorded message here, despite X4-5-6 pretty explicitly having him speak and interact directly with the characters. Not even X1-2-3 had him say things like “I wish I could give these parts myself”, which made the possible retcon of him actually being an AI surprisingly easy to swallow. X7 just didn’t get the memo.
Speaking of shitty plot wanna talk about Red?
So Red is supposed to be this rough, “charismatic” leader of a band of dangerous vigilantes, someone who’s supposedly pretty perceptive...
and yet Sigma can just casually approach him from the shadows, clad in a blatantly evil black cloack, offer him a way to make him and his men more powerful that involved hurting innocent people, not demand ANYTHING in return....and he FALLS for it!?
What’s funnier is that he seemingly didn’t even realise that’s Sigma! As we’ll see later on Red Alert simply called him “The Professor”.
How?
No really.
At least Wily had to put on a fake beard and some sunglasses, Sigma’s face is clearly visible!!
You mean to tell me that Red didn’t recognise the face of the world feared terrorist!? The guy who’s tried to rule the world several times in the past!?
How can Red, the guy in charge of a vigilante group aimed at hunting down Mavericks, NOT RECOGNISE THE FUCKING LEADER OF ALL MAVERICKS!?
Ladies and gentlemen. We have found a new king of stupid
Moreso than Knuckles in SA1 or Silver in Sonic 06
To you, Red, I award this:

Biscuit Reviews Megaman X7

Megaman X7 was the first Megaman X main series game to come out for the PS2 and was also the game that was meant to jump the X series into a 3D space. Now, this wouldn’t be the first time Capcom did a 3D Megaman. The Megaman Legends duology is Megaman in 3D and was well received by critics and fans. Knowing how to make a good 3D Megaman, you would think Capcom would be able to do a good job bringing Megaman X to 3D. My god, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I think what went wrong specifically for X7 was trying to keep both 2D and 3D. In previous X games, X and Zero were able to move around the stage very quickly and your weapons were a tool to get past obstacles in the stage. Bringing it to 3D, you can walk around enemies, especially since most of them won’t chase you, just remain in place. Then there’s also the speed factor. The simple act of moving is incredibly slow and even dashing doesn’t feel as fast as in the previous games. I think this was done deliberately to account for the 3D space, but that in turn defeats the purpose of a Megaman X game, fast paced jumping and shooting.
As usual we have 8 Mavericks to fight and honestly, there was potential here. The stage design itself is actually not terrible. It’s how Capcom had you navigate those stages that make it bad. First is the 3D camera, the way it’s angled really messes with your depth perception which can cause you to jump too soon or too late. This is extremely visible in Wind Crowrang’s stage where you have to jump from airplane to airplane.
Next is the 2D aspect. Again, not bad, but it’s hampered down by the lock-on mechanic and slow movement. This makes the 2D aspect no challenge as you can just stand there, lock-on to an enemy from a distance and shoot. Sure, you can make it challenging playing as Zero, but his attacks don’t have a defined swing arc like in the previous titles, causing his attacks to be unpredictable.
Then there’s the inclusion of Axl. Axl is not a bad character, having you play as the new guy alongside Zero in a game that was meant to change the series was a bad call. This caused X to get benched and if you wanted to play as X well you better play the game and rescue 40+ Reploids then. What’s that? Because you started investing chips into Axl and/or Zero causing them to get stronger and now you have X and he’s weaker than the two characters you’ve been playing for the duration of play? That’s crazy...ok, yeah that totally happened. Why? Why couldn’t X have some chips already in to keep him in pace with Axl and Zero?
Sure X can catch up, but you would have to play as X and find the other Reploids that need to be rescued. Also X plays exactly like Axl, with the only difference being armor upgrades. X is the only one still allowed to equip them. I wish I could comment on them, but I didn’t bother looking for them. I just finished the rest of the game with Axl and Zero and just never bothered with X.
I do like that you select two characters to take to a stage and can switch them out at will, that’s pretty cool.
I wish I could say that the conversion from 2D to 3D was what made X7 bad and could be forgiven because of that. But the Legends games exists, which show that Capcom can make a 3D Megaman game, so there’s no excuse for X7.
As far as X7 being the worst in the series, I can see why many people think that, but to me, I don’t think it gets that title. Sure the movement is slower and the combat isn’t as challenging, but at least the stages are fairly designed and that’s why X7 is not the worst one for me. Yes, everything else is awful, but when you put it next to X6, an entry that literally has everything going against it. I know it’s basically taking two turds and going “Well, which one is the better one?” But that’s what it is and to me X7 is the better game. Still poorly designed, but better than X6.
Megaman X7 receives a 1 out of 5.
NOTE: If you play this on the Legacy Collection I’d bump this up to a 2 out of 5 as you can change the VO language. This makes the VO more bearable. Still a crap game though.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 (Mega Man X7) Part 5
Late upload, but still, yay! I got a little lazy here, so there’s little to no text commentary. And the title isn’t creative. This game is draining me of my creativity. Lol I mean, what can I say that isn’t so obvious in the video? The gameplay continues to be clunky, tedious, and hilariously lame that it makes me look like an idiot. Yes, I changed the difficulty with Snipe Anteater! I wasn’t going to get Game Overs and sit through a longer-than-normal unskippable boss cutscene more than once.
X is pretty meh to control, just like Axl, and I kept forgetting he can’t double jump. The double jump has become my crutch. Playing as Zero is marginally better because of it. Marginally.
Also, my favorite thing about this part is the noise Wind Crowrang makes when you use his weapon. XD

Cossacks and Mavericks as Snapcube: The Piss Rock
*Zera aims her huntress weapon in shotgun form at Lisanna*
Zera: Get the hell out or I’m going to shoot Lisanna in the fricking face!
Pharaoh Man: No don’t!
Zera: I swear to God, I’ll do it, you bitches! Get out!
Boomer Kwuanger: *holds hands in forward position* Now there’s no need-
Zera, interrupting: I will pop her.
*The Cossacks and Mavericks grow tense and apprehensive*
Lisanna: Don’t give her my life for a rock!
*Sting Chameleon smirks as he pulls out a yellow chaos Emerald*
Sting Chameleon: Will you pop this Piss rock?
Zera, gasping in shock: Put the piss stone down! You don’t know what piss rock does to your… boing.
*distraction buys Wind Crowrang and Skull Man a chance to get to Lisanna*
Sting Chameleon, high-key lying: I like what it does to my… *mumbles* Zera!
Storm Eagle: *facepalms*
*Flame Mammoth, Drill Man, Splash Warfly, and Infinity Mijinion bust out laughing*

This was vent art, though when I submitted it to the Oekaki last year, I never mentioned it. I didn't particularly want to draw attention to myself.
I really love how it came out, however.
