Guy can’t quite put his finger on why he’s always kind of a dick to her–she’s saved his life more than once now and she’s just the kind of hardass soldier Guy loves best. Whatever. She’s probably going to eat Kyle alive, but Kyle always did love a challenge.

Okay listen, first official blog post but I literally made this account just to write this fanfic okay? Okay!

It's kinda long but! I think that's good?

CW: Excessive gore, implied violence, fear of abuse, overuse of phrases to induce a sense of helplessness, Odin kinda fucks with you tbh, seriously: excessive gore

The cries of ravens haunt your dreams; this time, they sit on your shoulders, claws bearing into your skin as you walk through a beautiful and lush forest. The lush greenery does not distract you though, you have a purpose: someone is waiting for you and so, you continue to walk until the forest opens up into a grove where an elder stands. He awaits you. As you approach him, he begins to speak, “Völva, who performs seid through her dreams,” He turns, blue eye piercing through you, “You must bind thyself to the draugr favored by valkryies and blessed by Brokkr. To do so will spell your fortune and prosperity, to deny him will spell doom for us all.”

Suddenly, the grove began to wilt, and bodies began dropping into it, their blood seeping into the yellowed grass as the ravens took flight from your shoulders and began singing , “Bind thyself to the draugr, bind thyself to the draugr,” over and over as blood and carrion filled the grove. You turn to run only to be met with the most terrifying sight of all.

He was dressed in black furs with paint smeared over his darkened gaze, and blood, so much blood. It stained his scarred porcelain skin and white-blonde hair, and as your gazes locked the bodies began to scream and claw at your ankles. You are rooted in spot as he begins to approach. You want to scream, you want to run, but all you can do is stand as this predator stalks towards you and the ravens shriek and the bodies cry to make a terrifying cacophony of death and doom. “Bind thyself to the draugr, bind thyself to the draugr!"

You bolt upright, cold sweat clinging onto you and your underclothes as the smell of blood clears from your senses and the phantom ache of claws in your shoulders leaves you wincing. This dream of yours has been haunting you for 2 moon cycles, ever since your father ordered your mother to begin preparing you for marriage. Each time, however, the visions were more violent and each time, you never saw his face. It worried you, that the gods had assigned a violent lover for you, were you meant to bear the brunt of his violence? You hoped not, you would not heed a man who laid hands on you.

Easiest has actually been Thou Shall Find Thyself, i think not necessarily because its the easiest fic out of all my wips to write but because I’m working on it with another person so coming up with ideas and storyline is a joint effort and the crushing fear of being a disappointment keeps me going lmao. It’s been such an awesome project to work on the past several weeks (i think we’ve been working on it close to two months???) and also just a great experience. its nice getting to create things with someone else

the other easiest thing for me rn is the Warsid Mini Fic Collection stuff because its low stress and its my comfort guys

I’ve been struggling to write for a bit, which is why the mm au and deer time and the time loop fic and Fragments and You’re A Part Of Me have not seen updates- So i’ve really been working on the easier stuff just to feel productive and not so frustrated with myself

and yes ive had a full glass of water today, which isn’t enough but im happy i did manage that (i will go get more)

Are there any motifs or symbols associated with the character? How are they represented, in their design, personality or in some other way?

I don't know if there is a specific symbol that I associate Imopea with. To me, she does represent the 'ideal' of the Order in terms of beauty and status. She's blonde (even if its going gray) with pure gold eyes. She was born into a noble house and claims (though perhaps dubiously) direct descendance from Godfrey. She's not a warrior, but she is excited by being socially dominant over someone. She perpetuates violence without even recognizing she's doing it.

I feel i might start associating her with flowers like Miranda blossoms or poison blooms though. For reasons : )

What is your general favourite thing about the character? What is your least favourite?

I owe her current incarnation to you of course! Tolbren, Helian, and Arteya were my favorite Councilors at their conception. That's why they got to die first. Imopea was just a middling 'villain of the week' after the heavy hitters were done away with.

But, my favorite thing about her is that she's just awful. She's hypocritical and manipulative and self-righteous and pathetic. She is an actress in every facet of her life. She charms the other powers in the Lands Between to benefit Leyndell. She charms and guilts Morgott for his attention and affection. And beneath all that she's just a flailing, destructive person without substance. I also love that she fumbled the baddest bitch in the Lands Between to Oleg, apparently. Because Oleg is just genuinely nice to Morgott. My least favorite thing? That's tough. Is it cheating to say that I wish I had seen the inspiration in the 'Imopea was secretly in love with Morgott all along' angle before I'd finished writing CfS. She feels like a wasted opportunity in hindsight. But that's what AU fics are for!

31. How do you stay motivated? I don't No, more seriously, other people people being interested in an idea is super motivating! if there's one other person who wants to see something written, I'm going to be excited to write it just to see them enjoy it. I usually start fics because I have an image or a concept or an emotion that I want to play with, but if I'm faltering on motivation, having someone else get excited about it with me is what carries me forward.

32. Out of all your fics, what is your favorite title? I think of my currently published DBD fics my favourite title is Know Thyself - partly because I just like it as a quote, but also because I think it really reflects Charles' perspective in that fic, the way that he's had to fight for his certainty in who he is, and how precious it is to him that Edwin sees him the way he sees himself, even before his death.

38. Fic idea you're most excited to get to? I'm counting Pacrim, Hell fic, and kitty!Edwin as WIPs, so I think the next one I'm most excited for is my post-canon Crystal character study which is about Crystal wrestling with who she used to be and finding her feet with the agency. But that's a big concept and I have a lot of ideas in the queue so hopefully there will be others meanwhile.

what fandoms do you write in? Currently, Star Trek and Yugioh. My history is uh. varied.

how many words have you published in 2024? 59,693, though it honestly feels like more.

what is your greatest achievement this year? Not giving up on my first WIP in like a decade plus! I'm very proud of the story I've created with Something Like Magic and I'm excited to write the last chapter.

what was your biggest pit of despair moment? This will sound a bit glib but honestly it was when Physician, Heal Thyself hit 10,000 words. I was like, oh god. This was just supposed to be a pwp how could this happen to meeeeeee

what have you learned? Honestly just to write what you want to read and fuck the consequences. When I started Something Like Magic I was convinced that no one would read it because there were only two mageshipping fics in the 25 year history of the English yugioh fandom before that and I made my peace with that. It ended up being a delightful surprise that people DID like it. Likewise, I'm now writing mostly mccoy-centric star trek porn, and that's because I would like to read it.

did you beta any fics? any faves you want to shout out? I had the distinct honor of betaing @illegalpaladin 's Take Me/Let Me Go and hope I have the chance to do so again for future fics of theirs. I know we're not mutuals so I hope this isn't too weird but I do also want to shout out the work of @muirmarie who understands Star Trek characters, and specifically Bones, in a way I've see very few other writers achieve.

what ideas are percolating for next year? It's all porn, babes! Here's what I got in the lineup:

-Bad Case of Loving You: Bones gangbang. When a parasite causes, ahem, tumescence in the away team, McCoy comes to the obvious solution on how to alleviate symptoms, and who is he to argue with Occam's Razor?

-Lay on Hands: the manhandling one. McCoy is the physician here, so why is it that he's always the one getting pushed around?

-You've Got the Touch!: real Spock possessive hours. A visiting Vulcan doctor is flirting relentlessly with McCoy. Spock is the only one to understand. Why he cares is a different matter.

-Debrief: everyone has a mirror!verse porn fic, right? After a rare diplomatic mission, Kirk employs Spock's assistance to recreate the mission for McCoy, so he can get an accurate mission report.

-Don't You Want to Come with Me?: a reversal of the odd man out McCoy fics. Kirk and Spock are together. McCoy loves them both and joins them frequently in bed on a strictly friends with benefits basis. Somehow McCoy is the only person satisfied with this.

I've also had this idea percolating around about bones medically prescribing, uh, himself as a sub to spock and jim who are in a relationship with each other but are both doms. so that will be fun to think about.

Hello! I just read (physician, heal thyself) for like the 10th time (because I really like the way you write Ambulon) and hope you don't mind me asking: what would have been your plans for turning it into a multichapter fic? I'm really curious and would love to hear anything you want to share about how the story and the relationship would have progressed, since you got me interested in that very specific ship (no pressure, though) Have a lovely day!

I'll confess, when I wrote that back in.. 2022? I actually still didn't know how to plan ahead for fics. So all I had was that chapter and a few hundred words of discord drabble exchanges with my friend. I had little idea of how things would go.

However! after I posted (physician, heal thyself) in 2023, I was briefly inspired to scratch down a very rough 4-5 chapter outline. I haven't really worked on it since, but it's sitting in my "slightly bigger wips" file competing with a couple other actionable wips in their wait to be worked on once Restoration is finished.

The outline needs to be reworked, tbh, if and when I tackle it again I'll probably go at it from a slightly different angle. Honestly I probably couldn't even articulate to you the themes that I want for it bc those also need reimagining lol

(Honestly, if you'd mind telling me what you liked about how I write Ambulon that would be a treat bc I had and still have a tenuous grasp of his character compared to other characters I write)

I’m currently not fic-active in any fandoms, but I used to write for Amnesia The Dark Descent (and occasional other Frictional Games stuff), FFXII, The Hobbit, and I’ve also done some Stardew Valley and Baldur’s Gate 3 stuff (during Early Access, mind, haven’t beaten the full game yet).

What are your top five fics by kudos? The Last Snowfall, And All Paths Will Lead Us Home, Ever After To The End Of His Days, Under Surveillance aaaand Count the Daylight Hours. one of these is not like the others lmao

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Always! Well, unless it’s a single emoji or something, I usually can’t think of a way to reply that. I just like talking with readers and I feel like at least saying ’thank you’ is just polite.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Oh man this is unfair, this is kind of my fandom niche and it’s hard to pick one. My archive is a gallery of angst, take a pick.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Depends on how you want to rank happiness, but I’d say The Fair Ones. (shockingly, happy endings aren’t only reserved to my OCs)

Do you get hate on fics? Nah.

Do you write smut? If so, what kinds? Oh boy do I ever. Mainly on my original stuff, though, as with most things (shocking). I’m more into romance than erotica, personally, so my stuff tends to be on the softer, more emotional side. They’re in love, your honour. As for what kind, I’m so vanilla it hurts. :’D I tried writing kinkier stuff in the Amnesia fandom but I’ve concluded it’s just not my thing. Learn to know thyself, writer.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Very rarely, I don’t usually enjoy them. The only ones I’m really into are Amnesia/Haunting Ground and Amnesia/Penumbra – I guess the overlap of different horror elements just works for me. Nothing particularly crazy to report in this regard, just the typical "character A is somehow in character B's world, shenanigans ensue" stuff.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don’t believe so, but I also haven’t gone looking.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Yeah, someone’s still working on translating Count the Daylight Hours into Russian and I remember someone asking for permission to translate some of my ancient Hobbit fics.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope.

What's your all-time favourite ship? Ships come and go, but I think Kurogane/Fai, Usagi/Seiya and Squall/Rinoa are my most consistent ones that have stood the test of time. (I know, this is completely out of the left field considering I’ve only ever written a thing for one of these ships, but writing and shipping are two separate activities that sometimes overlap)

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will? Another vampire AU for Amnesia with the working title No Other God. I have so much lore written down and in my head, but unfortunately my interest in fandoms in general evaporated two years ago and it hasn’t shown any signs of coming back to that extent. I'm enjoying my time as a casual fan nowadays, pooping out a random fanart once a year.

What are your writing strengths? I’ve heard many times that I’m good at descriptions and conveying emotions.

What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue, ugh, especially in any modern setting. I use so much outdated vocab and expressions that I can't use my own speech as a guide since I've gotten regular comments my whole life that I speak weirdly. :'DDD (for context, I was the stereotypical precocious kid who sounded like a grown-up at age seven, okay)

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? If it serves a purpose and you know the language (or have a beta/someone who speaks it available), why not? Either way, people write and publish fic for free, so I don't think it matters - do what you enjoy, that's what fic is for.

First fandom you wrote for? Probably FF7 or Kingdom Hearts? Never published any, mind, this was stuff I scribbled into notebooks way back when.

Favourite fic you've written? Right now I wanna say The Alchemist’s Apprentice, my feverish contribution to the Daniel/Fiona excellency that maybe five people and a footstool ship. I like niche. Niche is good.

4. If the fic required it, what did you research in order to write it?

where the heart is has stalled out mainly because I am agonizing over 1. the original characters and 2. getting the details of how people in a little village way up in the mountains live accurate. How do they survive up there? How isolated are they? What will grow there, what kinds of food are viable, what can they reasonably be expected to HAVE? Hopefully one day I'm just like 'man fuck it' and remember that magic IS a part of that world and can shortcut for some of that stuff, but man.

5. Did you outline the fic?

I outline most fics these days, to some extent. Even the ones where I just start writing a scene because I want it out of my head (moth, meet flame comes to mind), I'll put notes to myself on things to incorporate, or directions the thread of the story follows. As I get more and more of those I'll start putting them in a rough order before I start trying to fill in the gaps around them. Most of my larger wips have somewhat more extensive outlines that I put together before writing much of them, but those are still more like reminders to myself of what I want to have happen when.

7. How did you decide what character(s) would narrate the fic?

Answered this for the first two parts of teethmarks already, and the same principle holds true for all of the stuff I write, I think. Mostly that decision is 'I want to see how [character], who has X characteristics, deals with this specific situation'. For WtHi, it's 'how does Therion, someone who was betrayed by his closest/only friend, who is a reserved, solitary, and wandersome individual as a result, deal with the solidarity Olberic offers in having had a similar experience, with having somewhere to go BACK to?' for THotS it's 'how does Grimmjow, who by means of survival equates touch to violence, who is human in spite of it all, learn to accept that he can WANT a softer touch?'; in mirror image to that, TMiYM asks 'how does Ichigo, who wants to protect people, who has a good heart at the center of his being, learn to accept the part of himself that WANTS violence?' Those two in particular are about accepting uncomfortable hidden aspects of oneself by accepting them as they are externalized in one another. (This is what a soulmate is to me)

Obviously this isn't quite as true for the erotic stuff necessarily: thy neighbor (thyself) was an exercise in having three narrators at once while also having only one narrator. Gogeta is Gogeta, but also Goku and Vegeta. I spent a LOT of time picking the wording such that some parts of it felt like one or the other (or both/neither). I guess for erotica the decision gets made by answering 'who gets fucked up the most by it?' In MMF, Ace really is doing this more or less for the hell of it (with a side of 'oh this blonde's eyeing me up but I don't think he realizes that, maybe he needs some encouragement?'); Sanji on the other hand is having an extremely lowkey Gay Panic about it. For before it's too late, admittedly they're both equally fucked up by the situation going on, but Seth has that added extra layer of 'I am a knight and Eirika is my liegelord, i SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS.' This would occur to him because he's older and more experienced in the social systems he and Eirika exist in, he can't help but think of the consequences for both of them, but by the same token those systems as they pertain to the immediate have been blown to cinders. For Reiju in this cursed wip, it's because she numerically (the numbers are important) suffers more acts of violence, plus the inherent violence of the goal and their father's role in it. The brothers only have to bear one each. Ergo, her head has more to work with in it.

This answer got away from me but like. tldr bro, I can't explain it concisely. I pick it based on Vibes.

10. How did you approach writing the fic? (e.g. wrote it start to finish in order, started with the ending, starting with the twist)

I don't know that I've ever written anything start to finish in my life except maybe the vignette-adjacent works. Typically my stuff happens in two patterns: I'll either patchwork bits and pieces in the middle and work my way outwards to an opening and closing (as in a touch of home) or I'll pin down the opening and closing and figure out a good middle to hook them together (as in cutting instrument). I feel like you can sort of tell which, in general, is which, if you read enough of my stuff. Short answer: it almost always comes together in bits and pieces that I try to smooth into one contiguous whole.

13. Did you write any of the fic by hand? If yes, which parts? Do you find you write differently by hand vs typing?

Man, I haven't written fic entirely by hand in YEARS. Used to be I would do the rough drafts and a lot of the editing by hand, then type it up. They're very different to me and it mainly comes down to the editing aspect, not in a way that I feel like I can describe well. iykyk. Maybe the last fic that I know for sure I wrote any part of by hand is the jonadio from forever ago, I still have a clear memory of doing at LEAST the scene with Jotaro by hand.

19. While editing, did you kill any darlings? What were they?

Yes, but I hardly remember most of them since I'm not in the habit (yet) of using a scraps document. There is one bit I know I have from ch5 of THotS, since that whole thing was written almost entirely in the discord DMs:

“I want to apologize to you,” she says a little later, as you’re both preparing to scour for some poor unlucky bastard to eat. “For the comment I made a while ago.” You’re confused which one she means, there’s a lot you’d demand apology for from her, but her next words give you pause. “About your Fracciones. That was… unkind. I’m sorry.”

One of those things where I had an idea for where I wanted to go from that and lost it halfway through so I just cut it and did something else.

21. Did the fic end up shorter or longer than you had planned?

god they ALWAYS end up longer. always. why is TMiYM longer than the fic it was epiloguing. Why is MMF THAT fucking long. why.

He was handled a towel and he began scrubbing his face so he could watch Ezra finish their heat. It really wasn’t even contest. Ezra turned before the other teams were even half way. Ezra would have to get a cramp and drown in order for them to catch up.

Something he obviously didn’t do. He tapped the panel and pulled himself out of the water. He looked up at the time clock with a frown. They had won. Of course they had, but even Steve could tell that hadn’t beaten the record.

Even though Steve and Ezra were co-captains, they had flipped a coin in the locker room to see who would be on the podium if they medalled. Ezra had won.
