Idk, maybe it is a little odd but "♟: Patching up a wound", if you want :)
may i offer you a little superhero au in these trying times? don't blame me, blame lou's goddamn superman jawline
"Buck, I'm sending someone to your apartment," Athena says, with no preamble.
"Uh…what? Who?"
"Don't ask questions. He needs stitches."
"He needs stitches? Shouldn't you send him to Hen or Chim or - or a hospital?"
"What did I just say about asking questions? Hen and Chimney aren't options. He should be with you in fifteen minutes. He'll have equipment, but get your first aid kit just in case."
"Wait, Athena - "
"Bye, Buck."
The night is as dark and quiet as it ever gets in downtown LA. Buck paces up and down the loft a couple of times, never straying far from the front door. Which is why he doesn't hear anything to give him any warning before there's a single, loud thump from the balcony, followed by a groan that's audible even through the closed glass.
By the time he gets to the door, a figure is pulling itself to its feet, using Buck's outdoor furniture for help.
What the fuck, Buck thinks, but opens the door anyway.
"Athena send you?" he checks.
"A lot of men fall from the roof onto your balcony?" A deep voice asks, sounding pained. What the hell has Athena gotten him into?
"Fair," Buck says, and hurries to get one shoulder under the guy's arm, hauling him further upright and helping him stagger inside.
In the light of the loft, he can see that the guy has some kind of cowl covering most of his face, just a strong jaw where a bruise is starting to blossom and a cleft chin and a pair of pink lips set into a firm line. The cowl is the same dark blue as the rest of his outfit which is some kind of…jumpsuit maybe, with flashes of silver at the wrists and - hooooooly shit.
"Holy shit," Buck breathes, unable to help himself. "You're The Pilot!"
"No autographs, kid."
"Athena hates you!"
"Sergeant Grant and I have a complicated professional relationship," The Pilot says, while Buck bites back approximately a million questions. "She said you would be able to help."
"I mean - I haven't actually given anyone stitches before," Buck admits. "But I've watched Hen and Chim - I work with them, they're paramedics - I've watched them do it like a hundred times. I don't know why Athena didn't send you to one of them…" he says, fishing a little.
"Long story," The Pilot says, and Buck helps him get seated on one of the kitchen stools. "You were closer."
"Okay," Buck says. "What's the damage?"
"Knife got through a couple of plates in the suit."
"Wait, this thing is armor plated? That's so cool!"
"Glad you approve. Here." The Pilot pulls at a previously invisible join in his suit, revealing a long gash across his ribs. It's bleeding sluggishly, not too deep, but the skin around it is angrily red.
"That might get infected," Buck says, chewing his lip.
"Need you to clean it. Please."
"Okay," Buck says. "Do you want some water?"
"That…would be great, actually."
He drinks from the glass of water Buck hands him while Buck works on cleaning the wound. He tries his best to be gentle but the guy doesn't even flinch. Which, of course he doesn't. He's a literal superhero. There is a literal superhero in Buck's loft and he can't help it anymore.
"I've seen you before," he says. "On scenes. I'm a firefighter."
"I know."
"Athena, right, of course." Buck washes his hands again and gets what he needs from the first aid kit.
"Before we get started, can I ask you a question?"
The Pilot shrugs. "You can ask."
Buck takes a deep breath. "Where do you get your suits? And why do you do this? And can you really fly? And what's your real name?"
Through the gap in the cowl, pretty blue eyes blink at him. "That wasn't a question. I can't tell you where I get the suits or what my real name is. I can fly light aircraft and helicopters but I can't fly fly. And I do this because people need help, and I can help."
"That's so cool. My name's Evan Buckley, by the way."
"Hi, Evan Buckley." The Pilot's lips curve into a smile for the first time. "Great to meet you. Now can you stitch me up before I bleed on your floor?"

Third League Royals: A Guide to Building Standardized nuSLDF BattleMechs
"Third League Royal" is a term coined for refitted and modernized BattleMechs deployed by the Star League Defense Force (SLDF) of the Third Star League from 3151 onward, in the Touchdown AU.
These upgraded designs follow strict formatting guidelines to ensure interoperability, survivability, and networked warfare efficiency in the modern battlefield.
This guide outlines how to construct a Third League Royal using MegaMekLab (MML), with a focus on out-of-universe implementation.
Core Features of a Third League Royal:
1. Mixed Clan Techbase (Unofficial Rules Enabled):
All Third League Royals must use the Mixed Clan techbase.
The Unofficial Tech Level must be enabled in MML to permit these configurations.
Furthermore, under the Tech Progression tab in Options, you must enable "ignore intro/extinct years for Unofficial Tech Level units"
2. Nova CEWS or Equivalent EW Suite:
All standard Third League Royals mount the Nova Combined Electronic Warfare Suite. Usually placed in the head slot, unless:
a) The 'Mech has a traditional head-mounted system that takes priority.
and/or
b) A Small Command Console cockpit is in use.
Exceptions:
Recon or command-focused 'Mechs may instead mount:
a) Clan ECM Suite (fluffed as "Archangel ECM").
and/or
b) Clan Active Probe (fluffed as "Wolfhound Active Probe").
3. Small Cockpits & Command Consoles:
All units use Small Cockpit technology.
Command variants use the Small Command Console Cockpit.
Ensure the cockpit is armored via the Assign Criticals tab in MML.
4. Armored Cowl Equipment:
All designs must mount an Armored Cowl in the head.
Must be armored via the Assign Criticals tab.
5. Clan-Tech Modernization of Legacy Loadouts:
Loadouts should (but do not have to) resemble previous variants of the 'Mech.
Upgrade to Clan equipment wherever appropriate:
IS Medium Lasers → Clan ER Medium Lasers.
IS Gauss Rifle → Clan Gauss Rifle or HAG.
LRM/SRM systems → Clan ATM or Streak launchers.
6. IS Composite Structure:
Must be selected under Structure.
7. Clan Double Heat Sinks:
Exclusively use Clan Double Heat Sinks.
Install as many as the design allows to minimize heat buildup (see below for Quirks that will effect the final number).
8. Supercharger Optimization:
Optional but recommended for weight efficiency:
Downgrade engine rating by one step.
Add a Supercharger to restore original speed.
Example: 300-rated engine → 285-rated + Supercharger.
9. Quirks:
a) Add the following universal Quirks (in addition to any original ones):
Battle Computer (replaces Command Mek Quirk if present on base model)
Combat Computer (+4 sunk per turn on top of normal heat sinks - not shown in MML UI, total heat/heat sunk must be manually calculated)
Cowl
Easy to Pilot
Extended Torso Twist
Improved Communications
Improved Sensors
Multi-Trac
Variable Range Targeting
b) If Jump Jets are present, add:
Reinforced Legs
c) Weapon and AMS Quirks:
i) All weapons (energy, ballistic, missile) must have:
Accurate Weapon
Improved Cooling Jacket (reduces individual weapon heat by one - not shown in MML UI, total heat/heat sunk must be manually calculated)
ii) All AMS types must have:
Directional Torso Mounted Weapon
d) Negative Quirks of the original design should be removed unless given a compelling lore reason.
10) Additional Design Notes:
a) Armor Allocation: Prioritize maximum armor where weight allows, using Clan Ferro-Fibrous or Ferro-Lamellor if possible.
b) CASE II: Highly recommended for Clan ammo-fed weaponry.
c) Head Slot Limitations: If both Nova CEWS and Command Console are needed, prioritize the Command Console and shift Nova to an alternate location.
The Third League Royal format creates a high-performance, standardized set of BattleMechs optimized for 32nd-century mixed-technology, survival-focused, network-centric warfare. By following this guide in MegaMekLab, players can build compliant 'Mechs that reflect the Third Star League's vision of a modern, networked military. Whether deploying a reimagined Atlas or a revitalized Shadow Hawk, your 'Mech will carry the legacy of the Star League forward—into the next era of warfare.

So, I made something as a form of self-initiation to the fandom.
It's König and Horangi, but it's in this AU I'm trying to form via fanfics. It's a DND/Fantasy AU where König's a knight Ranger and Horangi's a mercenary Rogue. They'll fall in love but they started off on the wrong foot at first.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
König in my official interpretation of him as a knight Ranger.
I kept on looking at his uniform in the actual game and tried to consider the colors used from there to this. The dull red stripes on his hood? Became that red metal bit on his helmet. I decided that he'd also wear a cowl, commemorating just how long his sniper hood is. Besides that, I also considered his posture where he's carrying the gun on his shoulder, and that became him carrying this big and badass sword. Not seen though is his crossbow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Horangi in my official interpretation of him as a mercenary Rogue.
Like with König, I based his pose on the appearance I keep seeing about him, clasped hands and all. I tried my best with the colors and thought green's best (basing on his normal outfit) but since camo patterns aren't a thing in the medieval times, I decided on a weave pattern. I put some era-appropriate glasses as well to represent the shades he has.
Then I also have some casual looks for them, all out of that armor they wear!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
König in his casual attire.
There's no true hood thing in the Hero Forge options so I was like, "let's mix it up". I did the closest I could to his sniper hood look but in a DND/Fantasy AU. I decided on going for some baggy clothes with a sashed belt and boots for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Horangi in his casual attire.
I feel like Horangi's a belt guy in this AU so he'll go a little bit crazy on that. I also think that he looks cool af with this portrayal. I still brought his mask, glasses and gloves with him and he even has a silver piercing. A bit more tight-fit with the clothing than König.
Also...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My headcanon of their looks in the AU. gotta make it hot
So yeah, this is something I'm trying to culminate over time. I love them.
If I do ever finish the first work for the AU, I'll definitely post it here as well.

It was upon entering that I realised that when I picked up this days equipment I forgot something rather integral to archery
Tumblr media
arrows.
Tumblr media
Luckily I managed to stealthily swim across the warehouse to where I knew Gulum-Ei would be and avoid most of the guards before entering Brinewater Grotto.
Tumblr media
It was here that I managed to scavenge what arrows I could while allowing Uthgerd, Serana and my Undying Ghost to tank while I took pot shots at the bandits.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After fighting through the bandits I confronted Gulum-Ei once more
Tumblr media
Where he confessed that the person who hired him for the Goldenglow estate job was Karliah. I then set off to tell Mercer this information before remembering to go back to pick up the East Empire Shipping map to give to Delvin

reminder to self to grab the hat of fire acuity 👀🫵
hi i am going to ramble about builds once more LOL 🤸🏻‍♀️
currently running a draconic bloodline sorceror (red, fire) which - although i am not very good at playing sorceror, LOL - is actually quite badass, i am digging the dialogue options so far 😁 i may or may not be modelling him off zuko, LOL 😁 but unfortunately i fear adding in dual-wielding martialness somewhere may not be prudent 😔
but in any case, i really want the rest of the team to be heavily stealth and to try and exploit Darkness... (while my guy blasts from afar LMAO)
so far i've got:
karlach as a tavern brawler circle of the moon druid (mostly for panther)
astarion as assassin rogue
but i NEED A MONK 👁️👁️🤲 lol. my fingers are itching... i need to Unarmed Strike......... 😆😶 so i think i'll end up respeccing astarion to way of shadow monk (eyes the ritual of profane ascension sneakily) ? and then wyll can round out the team as an assassin rogue/ranger/fighter? (practice for when we delete his pact and he goes ranger 😁)
i miss my dream team (gale/wyll/lae'zel) 😞 but i really need to bench gale (1. i romanced him in 2 playthroughs basically back to back 💀 2. a sorceror AND a wizard might be too much lmao)... astarion will get his saucy bonus so he needs to be in the a team... i'm trying the karlachmance for the achievement... so no room for bae'zel :(
such problems i have haha alas
anyway the stealth gear i will be keeping an eye out for include:
justiciar's scimitar
shadow of menzoberranzan
covert cowl
drow studded leather armor
penumbral armor
shadeclinger armor
spidersilk armor
dark justiciar half plate
some other gear:
protecty sparkswall
robe of exquisite focus ⭐
🤔🤔 i'm still very early in Act 1 hahaha but i really would like that protecty sparkswall...

Hm, I have half a mind to try a sort of halfway design between episode 3 Anakin and Darth Vader's samurai armor life support suit, a sort of alternate universe Vader where you can still see his eyes.
I'm fully aware of the narrative importance the suit took on, only being able to see Luke with his own eyes as he's dying and Palpatine purposely choosing an outdated suit that would inhibit his movement and keep him weaker than him but also cause him suffering that would see him grow stronger in the dark side of the force.
But having grown up with the prequels, it's always bothered me how he ceases to be a character and becomes a force instead for half his story. I've always wondered what it would be like if you could still see a person in there, like that one moment with the cracked helmet in Obi Wan, or Ahsoka's conflated vision of Anakin and Vader.
I'm thinking of decreasing the burn damage sustained but keeping his loss of all four limbs, an oxygen system, and a still inhibited but still skilled version of his athleticism, though still relying on sheer Force when outpaced. Some sort of breathing cowl and pressurized under layer, but a version of Sith robes over it. Still mostly able to see his face, perhaps with some burns or grafts, and an optional samurai style helmet he'd probably mostly wear in official environments where he wants to be more intimidating and unreadable, like Kylo Ren, but additionally as a sort of supplemental oxygen treatment to the cowl itself he doesn't always need.

Weapon Options For Rogues
If they're looking to loot as lots as viable and get out quick, then Lockpick Expert and Creep can be the first-rate mixture. It all relies upon at the state of affairs.
Does The Rogue Even Have Armor Options? The squishier training in Dark And Darker Gold truely do have fewer alternatives with regards to Armor. While Fighters and Clerics seem to have at least a handful of Armor alternatives committed to them, there are just a few gadgets tied specifically to the Rogue:
Doublet Marauder Outfit Rogue Cowl Outside of these unique portions, Rogues generally simply need to search for any non-magnificence-precise Armor piece that does not impede their motion speed at all.
Armor and Weapon options are certainly wherein the Rogue is the maximum boring. While different classes like the Fighter or Barbarian have most of these diverse Weapon options, nearly all of Rogues use daggers. There's most effective one Weapon that Rogue players use outside of daggers, the Rapier, and even then the overall playstyle is pretty similar to using a Dagger. In any case, these are the Weapons that paintings high-quality on a Rogue, indexed from exceptional to worst:
Castillion Dagger Kris Dagger Rapier Rondel Dagger Closing Thoughts & General Tips Other than that, all of the elements of the Rogue gamers need to recognise come from honestly getting experience playing the class. In terms of what stats to search for on Armor or Weapons, Rogues have a tendency to advantage the maximum from buffs to their True Damage, Agility, Max Health, Weapon Damage, and Physical Power. Outside of that, all it's left are some simple hints for the ones simply beginning out with a Rogue
Never Try & Solo A Team: While the Rogue can regularly win in 1v1s, it's nearly impossible for them to overcome a whole group like a nicely-geared Fighter or professional Barbarian may want to. Solo Rogue gamers need to avoid groups in any respect fees. Getting The Drop On Someone Is The Most Important Thing: Taking a person by means of marvel is so much extra essential than getting one unfastened hit in at the same time as they are distracted through an NPC enemy.
Players who abruptly begin getting shanked by way of Rogues tend to panic, lock up, and open themselves as much as even extra free stabs. Don't Worry Too Much About Fighting PvE Enemies: Fighting in opposition to the NPC monsters is in which the Rogue can simply warfare quite a chunk of Dark And Darker Gold for sale, more often than now not it's better to just kite them, run around, and near doorways at the back of them. Crouching While Stabbing Actually Works: Like in a whole lot of first-character shooters, crouching mid-combat can in reality turn the tides quite regularly.

though relief washes over him at the agreement , victor still lacks in a great deal of confidence , doesn't look entirely hopeful. if anything , he looks over the goblins again with a grimace , searching for and weighing his options on what spots would be best for hiding. the issue here is karlach: bright red and burning hot , axe-wielding with clattering armor ——— not exactly the epitome of stealth. but goblins are not the epitome of smarts , and karlach is capable , she is.

you wished it was an exaggeration when you say you cant sleep. every single night it plagued you, you couldnt sleep any earlier than 2 am most nights. even when you met bruce wayne, and moved into wayne manor, and everything seemed to be going well in your life, your nightly struggles continued.
“what’re you doing up?” bruce’s tired voice rings out into the cave, he had just came back from his nightly outing. currently, you were curled up on his chair, mindlessly watching a youtube video on his computer.
“the usual. cant sleep. i was also waiting for you.” you respond, turning in his chair to look over at him. both of you were exhausted, worn down to the bone. it was 3:47 am.
“bad night?”
“don’t wanna talk about it” bruce says nothing more, pulling his cowl off and making his way over to you. he was dragging his feet, tossing his armor carelessly in whatever direction until he was in just his under clothes.
“come on” his voice cuts through the silence, his arms outstretched to you. with your blanket still wrapped around you, you stand and let bruce lift you into his arms. you rest your head in the crook of his neck, inhaling his scent and sighing as he takes the both of you up the elevator, and into your shared bedroom.
“hey, i’ll be right back” you give bruce a peck on the lips before jogging out of the room. after a few minutes, you were back with 2 glasses of chocolate milk and bruce’s favorite movie.
“you know me so well” bruce smiles, gratefully taking his glass and placing an arm around you as you settle under the covers. the movie begins to play and you were cuddled into bruce’s side. finally, you were beginning to feel drowsy.
“i don’t think i can sleep without you, you know.” bruce looks down at you with half lidded eyes, the two of you were on the brink of sleep. a smile graces your lips as you look up at him.
“me either. you’re like, my melatonin.” you giggle quietly as bruce rolls himself on top of you. the two of you look at each other for a while, drinking in the others features in a state of drowsiness. neither of you were the verbally affectionate type, and considering you were both kinda awkward and introverted, pda was not an option. in public, no one would have guessed you were dating, and it wasn’t on purpose. your affection was reserved for behind closed doors, like tonight, your love for each other was shown with soft kisses and cuddling up in bed, a movie in the background as you relish in the peace, a luxury the two of you rarely experienced.
bruce places a lazy kiss to your lips, moving down ever so slightly so he can lay his head on your chest, arms loosely and comfortably wrapped around you. finally, the two of you were out, your fingers tangled in his black hair, and the movie still playing in the background. this was your rare night of peace, and you relished in every second of it.
IS THIS TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR???? this was made purely because i need comfort thank you and goodnight

She let his quiet breathing soothe her until she too fell asleep, cradled in his arms.
Reader’s POV
Downstairs that evening, they had the remains of takeout spread between the three of them while Alfred and Bruce worked on the cipher. Y/n was working on paperwork for the Gotham Project, but was continuously being distracted by the chattering between the two men. They were huddled around a screen, debating various options for letters, running things through the computer program in hopes of figuring it out.
“What if it’s not a partial key?” Bruce finally said. There was a spark in his eyes–he’s gotten it, finally.
“What do you mean?” Alfred frowned at the screen.
“What if it’s the whole key?”
As they talk more, y/n wandered over, watching in surprise as the cipher on the screen slowly disappears until only one word is left.
DRIVE.
Bruce and Alfred exchanged a glance.
“How did the killer know you were going to figure this out?” y/n wondered aloud.
Bruce ignored her, rushing over to where he kept spares of the underlayers of the suit, shamelessly shucking clothes as he went and dialing Gordon with his other hand.
“Bruce–” she said, willing him to wait, to slow down, to be careful.
“Meet me at Mitchell’s garage,” Bruce said into the phone as he tugged on his armored pants.
She sighed and moved to help him as he hung up.
“What if it’s a trap?” she asked. “What if–”
“I don’t think so,” Bruce said. “But Gordon will be there.”
Somehow, that didn’t make her feel much better. She finished helping him get the suit on and was startled when he kissed her, hard. He was practically glowing after having solved the riddle. She frowned. He was enjoying it too much. Like it was a game. Like someone hadn’t just been murdered.
“I’m going to suit up and watch,” she said. He gave her a sharp glance but nodded after a moment. “If anything happens…We need a safe word. Like butternut squash or something.”
Bruce laughed and grabbed the keys to the motorcycle. “How about oh shit, it’s a trap?”
She grinned. “That works too. Just as long as I know to come running.”
He brushed his lips over her forehead, then pulled the cowl on. “For some reason I have the urge to hide the keys.”
“I had copies made, don’t worry,” she reminded him. Alfred was watching them with a small smile, but there was still a furrow between his brows.
“Be careful,” Alfred said as Bruce swung his leg over.
The roar of the bike starting echoed through the vast space around them.
She and Alfred stood side by side, watching him go, both of them just as anxious as every other time he left for the night.
“Except this feels worse, doesn’t it?” she said out loud.
Alfred made a noise. “I don’t like the killer leaving cards and clues for Batman. I don’t like it one bit.”
They went back to the screen and watched through Bruce’s eyes as he flew down the tunnel and out into the night.
“I don’t either,” she muttered. “If he gets himself killed, I’m going to be so pissed off.”
She picked up the earpiece that was unofficially hers and put it in. “I just told Alfred that if you get yourself killed, I’m going to be very pissed off. In fact, you better haunt me so I can give you a nice long lecture for it in the afterlife.”
Bruce laughed, the sound muffled, and said, “Alright. I’ll come back as a ghost for you.”
He clicked off and the only noise came through the screen in front of them.
Alfred was watching y/n instead of the screen. “What?” she said a little defensively. “Someone has to lecture him.”
“I’m just reminded what a blessing to our lives you’ve been, is all,” Alfred said softly.
Y/n scoffed to cover the emotion that pierced her chest at the words. She bumped her shoulder into his. “Save it for your best man speech.”
“I’ll go make some tea.” When she opened her mouth, Alfred interrupted, “Yes, I know, coffee for you. Trust me, I don’t forget it. What kind of butler would I be?”
He winked and limped to the elevator. She put her suit on quickly, leaving off the hood and mask for the moment. She needed to be ready. Just in case.
Y/n sank into her office chair–a luxury she had let Bruce spend a little money on, but only because it was an excuse to upgrade his piece of shit chair into something with lumbar support–and watched Bruce weave through traffic on his way to the mayor’s garage.
Bruce and Gordon barely exchanged pleasantries before heading directly to the garage. She should have asked how Bruce had put it all together because now curiosity burned through her. She was not good at riddles. She understood that drive naturally pointed to cars, but he obviously had something else in mind.
“Guess it’s good to be the mayor,” Gordon scoffed as they stepped into the huge space. Y/n counted at least six cars as Bruce’s attention shifted around the room. She was glad he was vigilant, because she was able to check right along with him that the shadows held no hidden figures. Though someone could be hiding in one of the cars. “Where to even start? You sure this isn’t a leap? ‘Drive’ could mean anything.”
“You don’t trust me?” Bruce asked. Y/n snorted.
“You mean like you trust me? It’s been two years now, and I don’t even know who you are, man.” Gordon had a point. But it was for the best that he didn’t know.
God, she wished she was there. She missed being on a case with Bruce. Even over a year later, and she only had to come help at the last minute, and never on anything so big. As harrowing as their experience the year before had been, part of her missed it. She missed being involved in it, step by step, fighting as they went. Even if she sucked at riddles, she was sure she could be helpful in some way.
Even taking matters into her own hands, dealing with disgusting men like Derrick Smalls, wasn’t the same as working with Bruce on a case.
“There,” Bruce said, gaze landing on something sticking out of one of the tires.
Y/n made an unconscious noise as he pulled out some sort of bloody tool. Something that had definitely cut off Mitchell’s thumb.
They started searching the car. Bruce pulled out a black light. Y/n had to physically bite her tongue to keep from turning the earpiece on and telling him that he really didn’t want to be doing that. There was no telling what kind of bodily fluids he’d find in that car.
“What are we looking for?”
“A USB port.” Bruce opened the center console.
“USB?” Gordon asked skeptically.
Y/n made another noise. There was a whole fucking thumb attached to the USB drive. All of her desire to be there shriveled up at once.
“Are you fucking kidding me?” she asked with disgust as Alfred stepped off the elevator, a steaming mug in each hand and his cane tucked under his arm.
“Thumb. Drive.” Bruce dangled the aforementioned thumb drive for Gordon to see.
“Oh, dear God,” Alfred said as he handed her the coffee and caught sight of the screen. “I’m glad we ate much earlier, because now I’ve no appetite.”
“This is…too much,” y/n said as Gordon got out his work laptop and plugged the thumb drive in.
“Jesus,” Gordon muttered. “It’s encrypted.”
“Try this,” Bruce said, holding up the thumb drive. Y/n could hear a note of mischief in his voice, only noticeable because she knew him so well. He was totally fucking with Gordon. Right?
Gordon was making a face. “Oh, this guy’s hilarious.”
But it worked. Bruce wasn’t fucking with him. Pictures appeared on the laptop screen, dozens of them, one after the other in quick succession.
Y/n sat bolt upright and nearly spilled her coffee.
The pictures were taken outside of the Iceberg Lounge.
Alfred didn’t notice her reaction, or the fact that she took out her phone and shot off a quick text to Lena.
“Oh, well, well, well,” Gordon said, “So much for family values.”
“Who is she?” Bruce asked. Y/n had no idea either–either this girl was just Mitchell’s date, or she had started working at the Iceberg Lounge in the past year or so after y/n had left.
Y/n had the feeling the girl worked downstairs at the club, though.
“Who took those pictures?” y/n asked Alfred. She would have to ask Bruce later–but she had a feeling it was already on his radar. He was a much better detective than she was, after all.
Alfred paid her no mind.
On the screen, Gordon was saying, “No idea. But that’s the Penguin, Carmine Falcone’s right hand.”
Bruce’s voice was tight with anger. “I know who he is.”
Y/n’s former employer. The man who had given her a loan for her mother’s medical bills. Bills that hadn’t mattered, in the end. The man y/n had been indebted to, for years. The man who’d had y/n beaten. The man who had let six girls disappear from his establishment. Seven, if y/n was counted.
Her fists clenched as the memories came rushing back. Anger roiled within her, hot and bright.
Alfred’s hand was warm on her shoulder. “Don’t go getting any ideas,” he said softly.
She shrugged him off. “I’m not. I don’t know that girl.”
But she’d already texted Lena.
On screen, a crisis was happening as Gordon’s work email sent the pictures to every single news outlet, newspaper, gossip magazine, and reporter within the city.
“That’s the Iceberg Lounge,” Gordon was saying when y/n focused again. “It’s under the Shoreline Lofts where Falcone was holed up. Never get in there without a warrant.”
“Yeah,” Bruce said.
“Oh no you don’t,” she muttered. She turned to Alfred. “He’s going to go straight there!”
Alfred sighed. “I don’t know how you stand watching him every night. I think my blood pressure is through the roof.”
“Are you not going to comment on what I just said?” she demanded. She crossed her arms tightly and spun her chair all the way around to face Alfred. “He’s going to–”
“Is it such a bad thing?” Alfred asked with a raised eyebrow.
She grit her teeth. “Considering how badly he’s always wanted to beat the shit out of the Penguin, probably.”
Alfred merely sipped his tea and said, “I’m going to bed. Let me know if anything happens.”
She threw her hands up in the air in frustration.
After Bruce left Gordon, y/n immediately used her earpiece to contact him.
“Don’t do anything stupid,” she told him by way of hello. “I can text Lena and maybe–”
“We don’t even know if Lena knows her,” Bruce shot back. “It’s only a matter of time before a guy like this kills again. I’m going straight to the source.”
“Bruce, if you–”
“I’m just going to ask some questions.”
She knew what that meant. Fists first, questions later. He was like a dog with a bone. He wouldn’t stop until he had what he wanted, no matter what got in his way. Even if she showed up to the Iceberg Lounge, there was no stopping him.
And a tiny part of her–the part that wasn’t worried for Bruce–wouldn’t mind seeing him punch the Penguin in the face.
In the end, “Please be careful,” was all she said.
–
Bruce’s POV
At the first mention of the Penguin and the Iceberg Lounge, a haze of rage descended over Bruce, so thick that he almost couldn't see. His vision blurred, his heart thundered in his chest, and he had to fight to loosen his fists enough to get the key into the ignition on his motorcycle.
He hadn’t been back to the club since paying off y/n’s debts. That was more than a year ago now. She’d been in the hospital, recovering from a stab wound and–
He stopped the thoughts before they could spiral out of control. Y/n was fine now. She was healthy, and she somehow still loved him. Loved him enough to marry him, even.
That could be why he was so angry, he mused as he parked his bike around the block and got off. He stalked towards the front door of the club. He hadn’t been there as Batman in a long, long time either. The last time he’d been inside as Batman had been ages ago. He remembered patching her hand, how beautiful she’d looked in the harsh fluorescent light.
He was angry because this club–this goddamned club–was the source of so much pain and suffering for y/n that he wanted to burn it to the ground with everyone still inside. He wanted to hit the Penguin, over and over, replicate the wounds he’d given y/nn all those months ago when she’d agreed to start working downstairs at the club.
The rage intensified as the door to the club swung open.
A man he had never seen before opened the door, red light and loud music pouring forth.
“Know who I am?” he asked the bouncer.
“Yeah. I got an idea.”
“I want to see the Penguin.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, pal.” The door swung closed again. The music cut off abruptly. Only a faint thumping could be heard through the thick metal. Bruce clenched his fists but waited. They would let him in. As soon as the word got to the Penguin, they would let him in. If not, well, he knew where the back door was.
The door opened again. A nearly identical man stood with the first. Twins?
“What’s the problem?” the second one asked.
The pair of them studied Bruce as the first one said, “Says he wants to see the Penguin.”
“Penguin? There’s no Penguin here.”
“That’s what I tried to tell him.” Both pair of eyes glittered with a dark sort of malice.
“Get out of here, freak. You hear me? Or that little suit’s gonna get all full of blood.”
Bruce was itching for a fight. These two might not have been around at the same time as y/n had been, but they still worked for that piece of shit the Penguin. “Mine or yours?” Bruce growled, and then his fists came up. He knocked them both down too easily. Some security measures they were.
Bruce stalked past them into the belly of the beast.
And he finally got his fight.
The lights flashed from white to red over and over, flaring to yellow right as the first guy managed to get his hands on Bruce. The music thumps steadily in time with his heartbeat.
Bruce remembers another night, another fight, another meeting with the Penguin.
Another missing girl.
A girl downstairs, working at the bar.
Bruce took each hit and relished the pain. This is what he’d wanted to do for a long time–he wanted to beat the shit out of any bastard involved even tangentially in what had happened to y/n over a year ago.
Each time his fist connected with someone, he bit back a smile.
A man hit him in the back of the head with a bat. Bruce yanked it from him and dispatched him easily.
Another man was there, gun drawn, telling him to put the bat down. The man was vaguely familiar, but Bruce didn’t have time to think about it. Right as the bat connected with the man’s face, the gun went off. Bruce winced. If y/n was watching, she would be mad that he was getting shot at. As soon as the thought crossed his mind, there was another gunshot, this one a blow to the back. One of the twins from earlier was above and behind him, holding a shotgun and looking as pissed off as Bruce felt. The other twin appeared.
The grappling hook took care of one of the twins. From his periphery, he saw someone else approaching. He whirled, fists raised, grappling hook raised like a gun.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!” The man called the Penguin raised his hands as if in surrender. “Take it easy, sweetheart. You looking for me? I see you met the twins.” He looked Bruce up and down. “Boy, you’re everything they say, ain’t ya? I guess we both are. How you doing? I’m Oz.”
Bruce relaxed, but only marginally. Had the Penguin forgotten already that they had met? That Bruce had been sniffing around a year ago for information on the missing girls? Maybe it was for show–someone like the Penguin probably had other important things to worry about. Maybe he didn’t want anyone else to know they’d met before. That was likely it–after the events of the year before, there had been a lot of employee turnover in the Iceberg Lounge. And Penguin had an image to uphold, after all.
They were upstairs in the Penguin’s office now.
“We’ve met before,” Bruce said, unable to help himself. Alone with the Penguin, he can feel the rage beginning to boil over dangerously. But if he made a scene now, if he beat the Penguin within an inch of his life, he would never get information about this missing girl.
“I remember,” the Penguin said as he settled on his plush couch like he had no cares at all in the world. “You caused a lot of trouble for me last year. But I’ll forgive you. Mostly because you….created some new opportunities for me and my boss.” The Penguin’s eyes practically sparkled in his scarred face.
Opportunities. Bruce scoffed. When he and y/n and Gordon had taken down the mayor and all those others, it had created a power vacuum. One that Penguin and his boss were apparently trying to fill.
Bruce was about to open his mouth and warn the Penguin he’d be watching him, when the man spoke again. “Why are you here? Don’t tell me more of my girls have gone missing.”
Bruce handed over the photographs from the Mitchell’s killer’s thumb drive. “Who is she?”
Penguin dutifully studied the pictures. “I really don’t know, chief. I might have been coming out at the same time, but I wasn’t rolling with them.”
The sharp sound of heels against the floor were quickly approaching. Bruce tensed and froze.
It was one of the girls. She was dressed almost exactly as y/n had dressed in the days when she had worked there. Memories flashed through Bruce’s mind but he shoved them away. He didn’t have time for that right now.
The girl froze. He could see fear mingled with curiosity on her features. He stared evenly back at her. Maybe she would know something.
The Penguin glanced between them. “It’s okay, baby. Mr. Vengeance here, he don’t bite. Come on.”
The girl set a tray down in front of the Penguin. Desserts and a thick envelope.
“Thank you, honey.” Penguin took the envelope, checked the cash inside, and handed over a bunch of Drops to the girl. She disappeared back down the hallway.
Bruce’s mind swirled with possibilities. The Drops operation was supposed to have been shut down with the big Maroni case, months ago.
The Penguin stood and handed the pictures back to him “Here you go, champ.”
The anger found Bruce again. The Penguin had just sold Drops right in front of him. Jaw tight, he said, “I wanna know who she is, and what she has to do with this murder.”
“Whose murder?” He couldn’t tell if the Penguin was playing dumb or not.
“The mayor’s.”
“Is that the mayor? Oh, shit, it is. Look at that.” The Penguin was definitely playing dumb.
The rage within him crested on a wave. Between one blink and the next, Bruce slammed the Penguin against the glass window, cracking it. “Don’t make me hurt you.” Because he wanted to. The Penguin had no idea how badly Bruce wanted to hurt him. In his mind’s eye, a memory of y/n passed out on his kitchen floor flashed and was gone again.
“You better watch it. You know my reputation?”
Bruce pressed him harder into the cracked window. He imagined pushing until the Penguin fell through the glass into the screaming crowd below. “Yeah, I do. Do you?”
“Look…I’m just the proprietor, okay? I mean, what people do here ain’t got nothing to do with me.” Bruce caught sight of the girl from earlier watching him. He let Penguin go. “Tell you one thing. Whoever she is, she’s one hot chick. Why don’t you ask Mitchell’s wife? Maybe she knows.” At Bruce’s look of disgust, Penguin innocently asked, “What? Too soon?”
Bruce took another glance at the photo. Was that…?
“You let me know if there’s anything else I can do,” Penguin called as Bruce shoved past him.
Later, as he watched her change outfits and descend to the street below, things started clicking into place. The missing girl wasn’t missing–she was being hidden by the Penguin’s employee.
And rumors had been swirling around Gotham for a few months about another vigilante. A woman.
Bruce got back on his motorcycle to follow the now-disguised woman from her apartment.
He had a strong feeling that she knew something, and he was going to find out what.

Mourning never comes
I started this episode by travelling back to our farm in order to grab all the gear needed and to collect farm profits as well as level up our archery skill from Faendal. I also made sure to collect the current crop of ingredients and proceeded to make potions from it. This allowed our character to level up before setting off to Markarth. I used a horse and cart to trave to Markarth stables where I equipped the Steel staff of war in preparation to kill Weylin and save Margret (to get the free necklace from her mainly). Upon doing this Eltrys aproached my character and gave me a note to read. I then entered the Silverblood inn and talked to Muiri where she gave me the contract to kill Alain Dufont with the optional kill of Nilsine Shatter-Shield. I stopped by Windhelm to complete the optional kill of Nilsine first. I did this by equipping the staff of fury and firing it at her while sneaking. Both to avoid the bounty and to get the guards and townsfolk to kill her. Then I travelled towards Raldbthar with the Goblin totem staff equipped.
Tumblr media
I used this to help clear the outside of the area of bandits before swapping to the Forsworn staff once inside. I then snuck my way around to kill the bandits inside on my way to Alain. To ensure I used several of my staffs I changed it up so with every two enemies dead I used a new staff. The other staffs used here were the staffo frostbite and the staff of Jyrik Gauldurson. To get to Alain I opted to sneak above him and the two bandits by him in order to fire the Dwemer ballistae at them, while the ballistae took out his guards i did however have to fight him myself although that was rather easy to do. I then returned to Muiri to tell her both Alain Dufont and Nilsine Shatter-Shield were dead and she gifted me with Muiri's ring before I returned to Astrid and completed the quest.

The Weight of Legacy
Well look at that, Dick and Damian week has actually made me finish something. That is a success and to celebrate I give you some D&d content!
Dick and Damian Week 2022 Day 2 Prompt:  “We both know you’re the last of the Graysons”
AO3 Link
~
Damian didn’t think. He didn’t have to, protecting Richard was instinct by now. Darting forward right into the arc of Crane’s scythe as it aimed for his partner’s neck was as familiar to him as breathing, etched into his DNA. For if he lost Richard again, how could he continue to exist?
The man was not only his firmest tie to Batman’s mantle, now that Father was home and clashing with Damian, but at some point during their partnership he had inexorably woven himself into Damian’s very being. Through training, and lessons, and quiet nights filled with ice cream. Patience and love–a thing Damian had not hoped to find here when he’d first set foot on American soil.
To lose Richard would be akin to losing a limb. And so Damian acted as if that were true. He wove protection of his mentor, Batman, sibling, into every action he took and refused to accept failure as an option.
He threw his arms up, gauntlets just catching the scythe with enough force to slow it from deadly to damaging. Before he could shove it back in Crane’s direction, the man shifted his weight, rolling the curved edge of the blade forward. It sliced right through a spot between his neck and shoulder, padded but significantly less armored.
The wound stung, and Damian hissed, anger and pain giving him more strength than he actually needed to shove the blade off him. When it was out of the way he dove forward, like a missile, his mind back on keeping his partner safe. He hadn’t looked back yet, but he had a feeling Richard was still stunned. Crane had surprised them, getting a lucky blow in before Batman or Robin had a chance to see him.
But Damian was aware now, and he would let no further harm come to his Batman, even if the man was no longer wearing the mantle. He headbutted Crane, skull smashing into the lanky man’s sternum and heard a satisfying crunch before ducking and rolling back into a crouch.
Crane was doubled over, but hadn’t dropped his scythe yet. Damian tutted, it was another thing to account for but not too much of a hindrance. He moved, taking advantage of Crane’s tenuous hold on his balance to sweep his legs from under him. He heard, rather than saw Crane’s shout of surprise, as he tumbled. He swung both hands wildly to catch himself, the scythe swinging along with one.
At the same time Damian was righting himself from his maneuver, eyes going wide as the blade swung back in his direction. He had a moment to realize just how much trouble he was in before something grabbed his hood and yanked him back hard. Boy and scythe just missed each other by millimeters, and Damian could feel the current of air it left in its trail like a kiss on his cheek.
He stumbled back into strong hands that held him for a moment, blue and black gloved fingers squeezing his arms in a brief moment of relief. Damian glanced up to find Nightwing over him, attention on Crane, a small trickle of blood had slipped from under his cowl to line his cheek. Even without his gaze on Damian himself, he knew Richard had half his mind focused on his Robin, he could feel it in the reluctant way he let go of his arms to step up next to him.
Side by side they waited for one breath and another ready for Crane to rise. But the rogue stayed down, scythe tumbled from his hand. Damian’s chest caught for a moment at his prone form, a brief bubble of panic rising as his mind declared the man dead. If he’d made a mistake and gotten him killed then–Then he saw the soft rise and fall of Crane’s chest and that bubble burst into relief.
“I think he is unconscious.” Damian hazarded.
“Perhaps.” Richard allowed, and stepped forward, cautious.
He kicked the scythe far out of Crane’s reach then crouched beside the man. Damian waited, slipping a few batarangs into his palm just in case he had to use them.
“Yep, out cold. He must have hit his head on the way down.” Richard said, standing.
“Good.” Damian said.
As he spoke his vision blurred for a moment and he felt his own balance start to waver. He swallowed back the wave of lightheadedness and steadied himself, staunchly ignoring his throbbing shoulder.
“Let us wrap up here then.”
“I’ll wrap up, you focus on staying on your feet.” Richard said, “In fact, sit there and get some pressure on that wound.”
His tone was commanding, Batman to his Robin, and Damian found himself moving almost automatically even as his mouth started to protest.
“I can help.”
It was a useless protest and they both knew it. Momentum and adrenaline had gotten him through the brief fight, but the cut in his shoulder was deeper than he cared to admit to. So even as he spoke, he found himself digging in his pouch for some gauze.
Richard made quick work of securing Crane. Before Damian had even managed to get the package open– his left hand trembling too much to properly tear open the plastic– Richard was already making his way back towards him.
“Oracle, could you send Batgirl and Red Robin to my current location to keep an eye on Crane, and make sure the police don’t accidentally set off any of his traps? I’ve got to get Robin home and patched up–yeah, okay good, thanks.”
Damian half listened to the words as he fumbled with the bandage, frustration at the injury making him more clumsy than the pain was. He’d just got it shoved against his wound when black boots stopped at his side.
Before Damian knew it, Richard had scooped him up. He squawked with surprise and out of habit shoved at his chest. Unfortunately that only resulted in making his shoulder feel worse, and causing Richard to tug him a little closer.
His brother chuckled, “I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of your mock outrage.”
“It is not mock.” Damian huffed, then let his head drop against Richard’s chest, ear pressed to the stark blue of his Nightwing symbol, proving that perhaps it was indeed mock, but he would never vocally admit that.
Too soon they were back at the Cave, Damian pressing his lips tight together as Pennyworth stitched him up and Richard typed up a report at the computer. Damian was well over his bout of dizziness by then. With painkillers added to the equation he was feeling decidedly foolish about both his injury and inability to help his brother finish their task that evening. They could have waited for the authorities to arrive and taken care of Crane’s traps themselves.
Richard finished his own work before Pennyworth was done with Damian’s shoulder, and wandered over to them to watch his progress, leaning against a close chair rather than sitting in it. He kept looking from Damian’s shoulder to Damian himself, a curious expression on his face.
Anxiety swirled in Damian’s stomach as he watched him, bringing old fears Damian tried daily to squash to light. Had Richard also realized how silly it had been for Damian to just allow them to call the evening early? Was he reconsidering their partnership? Could it be that he was upset Damian had thrown himself in harm's way? That was the source of many lectures from Richard, though they were growing less frequent as the two of them got better and better as partners.
It was baffling how Richard Grayson could get under Damian’s skin so easily. How he could set off worry and anxiety in a way precious few people in the world could. Damian had been trained to be confident, to be superior to all, to stand above the rest and not care about what they thought of him.
And yet, he cared deeply about what Richard thought of him. At first he had believed it to be because his fate as Robin depended on it, but it was more than that. It was how Damian felt when Mother looked at him. How he still wanted to feel about his father. It was the reason Damian threw himself in front of blade and bullet alike for his Batman.
Because of that he managed to work himself into a veritable fit of worry waiting for Richard to speak. It did not take the man long, just the time between Pennyworth finishing up, and Damian squeaking out a thank you.
His brother opened his mouth and got, “Damian–” out before Damian himself interrupted.
“I know what you are going to say,” he said, not knowing at all what Richard would say, but wanting to get a headstart on any disappointment now, “But I would make the same decision to protect you no matter what you tell me. You are too valuable an asset to let fall in battle, let alone to Crane’s sneak attack.”
“Too valuable, huh?” Richard asked shifting his weight from one foot to another.
Damian bristled, “Of course. You are Nightwing, a capable partner and ally, Father’s eldest, and the last of the Grayson line. Losing you would be a blow to many fronts.”
He had no idea why he’d added that last bit about the Graysons. Why family like that was so on his mind lately. Damian and Richard rarely spoke of his birth parents, but he knew his brother was still deeply connected with them and his roots. He was fond, and in very quiet, very rare moments, terribly sad to be the last standing. Perhaps he wished to make sure Richard knew how completely he fulfilled all his roles, including that as heir of his parents.
It seemed to backfire though, for Richard’s face fell into something deeper and even more inscrutable than it had been while watching Damian.
“The last?” he said, voice almost distant.
“Of course,” now Damian was confused, “We both know you are the last of the Graysons. Did Crane’s attack give you a concussion? Should I call Pennyworth back–”
Richard stepped around the chair, and took Damian’s hand in his own, stopping him, “It’s been a while since I thought of myself as the last of them.”
The meaning behind his words hung in the air, weighty yet suspended as if by magic. Damian felt warmth creep along his cheeks, pride and joy and a little embarrassment for making such a blunder.
“So that’s why I want you to be safe. Why I worry so much when you get hurt.” Richard squeezed Damian’s hand lightly, “I love you desperately, Dames. And even when you’re keeping me safe, I want you happy and healthy too.”
“I did not mean to let him hit me.” Damian’s voice was hardly above a whisper.
“I know. I’m not lecturing you tonight. Just trying to show you that I value you as much as you do me.”
“Oh.” Damian said.
“Oh.” Richard smiled, “You know I love you, right?”
“Of course.” Damian huffed, then added softer, “and I you.”
“Aww, good. That means you won’t maim me if I do this.” he said, and reached out to ruffle Damian’s hair.
Damian jerked away, swatting at his brother’s hand, “Richard! Cease!”
“And this–” his brother continued his onslaught by scooping Damian off the cot to snuggle him close, making his way for the cave exit.
This time Damian hardly bothered to fight the hold. He was tired and his chest was warmed by their conversation. Even Richard’s teasing could not ruin his good mood. Still, he had to ensure he was taken at least mildly seriously.
“You are aware that Pennyworth declared the wound not as bad as it looked right? And that there is a limit to my patience.”
“And there is that oh so delightful mock outrage again.” Richard sounded unbearably fond.
Damian gave up the fight and settled for shifting in his brother’s arms to get comfortable, “You are insufferable.”
“But you love me.”
Damian gave his answer by resting his head on Richard’s shoulder and snuggling close to him. Of course he did. He didn’t have to say it again, they were both very well aware of the truth. The whole night had proved it time and again.
