The afterparty was loud. Lights flashed, champagne flowed, and half the room had already posted stories with Pedro’s name tagged at least three times. You leaned against the balcony railing, escaping the chaos for a moment, heels kicked off and hair loosened.

Inside, you could hear Pedro laughing—his warm, unmistakable voice rising above the din.

You didn’t mind the fame. Not really. But sometimes, it felt like loving him meant loving a man who belonged to the world.

And then the sliding glass door opened.

“There you are,” he said softly, stepping out with two flutes of champagne, handing one to you.

“Thought you were busy being everyone’s favorite person,” you teased.

He gave a tired smile, moving beside you and leaning his shoulder against yours. “They’ll survive for ten minutes.”

The city lights sparkled below, and for a while, neither of you spoke. It was enough to be there.

Then Pedro glanced at you sideways, eyes soft. “I know it gets weird, sometimes. All this.”

You nodded. “Sometimes. But you’re still just you. The guy who makes terrible dad jokes and talks to the dog like she’s a person.”

He laughed. “She is a person. She’s smarter than me.”

You clinked your glass against his. “Low bar.”

He gave you that boyish grin that made your chest ache.

“I love you, you know,” he said, voice low now, private. “Whether it’s this life, or a quieter one where I make coffee and read scripts no one sees—I’d still find you.”

And in that moment, it didn’t matter how many cameras flashed. This was yours.

Just the two of you.
