okay but triptych was one of the best episodes in podcast history

I am inclined to agree with you that it's an iconic episode. But, even though I listened to wtnv through to about episode 100, I still think that the story was at its best and maintained a steady level of quality in the early episodes...maybe up until around Numbers (episode 42). To me, the stand-out nightvale episode that says to me "this is what made wtnv special" is A Story About You, and that's only episode 13. Others may find that the continually developed story, long after those early episodes, is better and more intriguing, but those early mysterious vignettes before the show seriously took off were really something.
