Who lies within the night sky?

“Survival of the fittest” is an often misunderstood quote, “fittest” doesn’t mean being the strongest smartest, most complex critter, but being adequate enough to survive and reproduce in whatever environment the organism finds itself in.

That being said, don’t expect a species that can reach the stars to be stupid wimps, and if they ever glance in our direction, pray they liked what they say, at least for passive indifference. Those nuclear firecrackers and men with peashooters likely won’t even scratch the “cleaning products.”

Even those who merely wish to control and conquer with “primitive” technology are still going to use self-replicating probes armed with railguns capable of shooting nukes and telephone pole-sized tungsten rods like a semi-automatic, God forbid a full-auto.

This doesn’t mean space is a “Dark Forest,” however, as it’s not exactly easy to hide with all that nothing, as far as those much smarter than me can tell. So all the Xeno’s crimes against intelligence will be visible for all to see. Still, even if there’s another civilization out there who could protect us, whether it be completely alien to the attackers or merely another faction of their race, at the quickest, it’ll be years before the omnicide is seen, but more likely, decades or centuries give how “slowly” light crawls across space.

As a certified Baby of the Family™, it is comforting to see a character like Iceland since I can relate to his experiences and how confusing, almost contradictory, it can be to grow up with much older siblings.

Your older family members will dote on you and adore you but also ignore and dismiss you. You can feel so loved and yet so alone at the same time since no one can relate to what you're feeling at your specific age. You can feel so special and yet lack special connections. Sometimes, you envy siblings close in age since they just seem to get each other in a way you don't. Siblings can feel like second (cooler) parents, and that has its good and bad. There is so much love... but at an inherent distance.

I feel that Ice is someone who grew up lonely yet felt special, that there's something unique to him and his loneliness. He feels loved by his family, but there will always be a gap, physically and emotionally. And that's okay!! Because... he has friends!! Friends who are similar in age, friends who, because of this, understand and support each other.

Because of this and how he grew up, I fully believe that Ice is a certified Ride or Die friend: if someone needs him, he'll be there. A friend is broke? Ask Norway for cash. Despite his own introverted nature, Ice loves to be around people who know and understand him as an adult and not a kid, and he cherishes them. And despite seeming "cold" to others, his heart melts when others send him memes or texts like "This made me think of you" or "How are you?" They make Ice feel that they have chosen to see and accept him fully, as he is right now, and not what he was.

NISHINOYA TOMOE [西谷知映]. october 31st, 2004 / twenty. from tokyo originally, but her dad's prison sentence had her scrambling to attend yeonhwa quickly out of pure shame. scorpio sun, leo moon, libra rising. neurotic, argumentative, antithetical dream girl, one unfortunate circumstance away from becoming the female joker. usually seen @ the complex spending all of her coins at the gachapon machines and kicking them when she doesn't get the one she wants. part of dragon daily [managaing editor], chess, paranormal, and ophiuchus [rabbit zodiac]. also: a kalista main on league, so you know she's absolutely miserable.

the nishinoya family were quite the mouth-piece when it came to tokyo’s elites; her father was high-ranking politician for most of her life, until he got swept up in a voter fraud scandal that made national headlines. the investigation was a full-blown spectacle and it completely tanked her chances at utokyo or waseda. :/ she thought she was lucky yeonhwa let her in based on pure merit and not reputation. [who’s gonna tell her she’s still a nepotism pick…?]

she’s always been a grumpy girl, so you can imagine she did not take father dearest’s downfall lightly. she’s still deep in the throes of parental issues, especially with her mother.... who is now serving real housewives of tokyo messiness [young trophy wife, serial cheater, incapable of staying away from pool boys and vaguely european bartenders].

she spent the majority of her freshman year crafting a reputation as a hard-ass. doesn’t exactly go out of her way to make friends, but she’s not unbearable either. she’s witty, sharp when she wants to be, and could probably start an argument in an empty room. i'm not exactly saying she's susceptible to rage-bait, buuuut...

her day-to-day is schoolwork, minor league break to let off steam (an oxymoron if you ask me), and skulking around campus like bloody mary. you’ll usually find her holed up in her favorite library study room or hunched over her desk in the newsroom, tearing into someone’s earnest op-ed about why the campus kitchen should switch to veggie oil instead of canola for fried chicken friday.

her only real reprieve is literature. she’s painfully prone to escapism—fiction is the one place where she isn’t anyone’s daughter, isn’t a disgraced politician’s kid, and doesn’t have to argue to be taken seriously. it’s the one world she can disappear into without anyone trying to drag her out. she loves language, hence why she's a polyglot. her korean could still be refined, though.

thinks she was written by virginia woolf just a teeniest bit. some of her favorite quotes by her are:

loves being in the paranormal club because she's a bit of a freak-show... loves anything occult and macabre. collects oddities like cursed lamps, loose human teeth, butterflies encased in resin, tentacle monster figurines, anything that might move on its own when you leave the room. a horror buff, 100% celebrates summerween!!! junji ito fangirl #1.

being in the chess club was primarily so she could socialize without really having to talk to anyone... :T the rules are also the same in every country!

she's still a bit confused as to why she got invited to ophiuchus, unsure if she really cares for the exclusivity... and why do they have robes and candles at every meeting?

her diet could kill a small victorian child, she's more red 40 dye than human at this point. she doesn't play about chamoy pickles.

sometimes ends up bringing her baby brother to campus with her when her mom decides she needs a break from motherhood.

while i do have some plots up on her blog, i am always open to brainstorming and figuring out our muses synergy together! :3 some random ideas are: frenemies, verbal sparing partners, hateships, you listen to her yap about how the rapture is coming over coffee, her laptop sounds like it's about to take off in the quiet section of the library and you can't help, but laugh, you drag her out to a party, sacrifice yourself as her cosplay mannequin, and anything under the sun! happy writing, everyone!!!

been thinking more about my approach regarding lucid dreaming

i've been watching some daniel love livestreams about lucid dreaming (and living) and i think i'm starting to realize more about a sustainable approach to lucid dreaming that his teachings revolve around. at first i was focusing too much on techniques and stuff like vitamins and nutrients that help with lucidity. while nutrition is important, i don't think it's the thing that actually gets people lucid. nor are the techniques people use. and while techniques can work for some people, especially in the beginning, the mindset is i think much more important. in the past, i got lucid multiple times without using any techniques. it was mostly by engaging in critical thinking and observing my thoughts (and sometimes their effect on my surroundings). after you change your mindset regarding lucid dreams, work on prospective memory and observe your mind more thoroughly, i think you can become a regular lucid dreamer without relying on techniques. just purely becoming lucid because you are a "lucid" individual i'll try exploring this more thoroughly and if i see any success with what i'm planning to be doing, i guess i'll write more posts about it. i'd also looove to have my own website and dedicate a portion of it to lucid dreaming as i'd looove to share my thoughts on lucid dreaming there as well [i'm slooowly learning html and css but it's reaaally slow since i'm working fulltime AND going to university (not for computer science) at the same time].

So the main story I'm making is obviously Kexie related. So that story would be about Maxie and Kenny in their early to mid 20s going through the motions of life. They split apart during high school and at some point they meet again, causing old feelings to resurface. Drama, heartbreaks, all the good stuff.

The other story would be some backstory stuffs. How Kenny and Maxie became friends and how they became so utterly close to each other.

I have more ideas with their super hero personas and another with Kenny being a Zombie. But thats for another day tee hee

1. An album you can’t stop listening to lately

There is only one honest answer and it is embarrassing. But it’s the Seussical Original Broadway Cast Recording. I’m choreographing the show it’s unavoidable. I want to give another answer but anything is would simply be a lie so just don’t talk to me about it. 😔

3. A song you really like by an artist you otherwise don’t listen to very much

That’s So True by Gracie Abrams. I tried to give her a chance and everything she makes is just simply not for me, HOWEVER- the second I hear “made it out alive but I think I lost it-“ it unlocks something in me. Now that is a BRIDGE baby. But like even the rest of that song doesn’t compare to the bridge. I can’t get into Gracie but I will never skip that song just so I can scream along to “I put up a fight taking out my earrings don’t you know the vibe don’t you know the feeling” because yes Gracie I DO know!

5. Name an album you think is perfect

SO many. Decide by Djo is absolutely skipless. A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out and Vices and Virtues by P!ATD have never been topped. You’ll hate this one but Red by Taylor Swift, it’s literally her magnum opus nothing has touched it since and it’s also just so nostalgic for me personally for so many reasons. Lemonade by Beyoncé is also HER magnum opus, it’s everything. The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell is ART front to back. Vs. by Pearl Jam oh my GOD. I could literally list 3-4 Iron Maiden albums but if I have to settle on the most perfect I guess I’ll say Number of The Beast. I could keep going and never shut up about this actually.

7. Do you have any concert tickets right now? If so, who’s concert is it?

Ok so right now I have tickets for Djo (fucking FINALYYY) in Michigan in April and of course My Chem in August in Philly. I also may or may not be going to a music festival in Barcelona in June where Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Charli XCX are headlining? Logistics of that are still in the works. Next up is I’m going to TRY to get tickets to Beyoncé’s Chicago show when they go on sale but I’m sure that would be a bloodbath. And if Gaga announces a tour after her album comes out best BELIEVE I will be there.

I wanted to go to Coachella SO bad this year but had no one to go with and also it was just really bad timing w my show schedule and work shit. Truly devastated, the lineup was SO perfectly tailored to my taste I thought it would finally be my year 🥲

11. What’s a song your favorite band doesn’t perform live, but you really wish they would?

See this hinges on me being able to pick one favorite band which is in fact impossible to me. I’ll settle for Iron Maiden not performing 2 Minutes to Midnight. They have in the past and I’m sure will again at some point, but in recent tours including the one I went to they did not play it, and it’s my all time favorite. As someone who refuses to look up set lists before a concert I was SHOCKED and DEVASTATED!
