Despite its undignified name, Muddy Creek is a lovely mountain stream that normally runs fast and clear on its steep descent to Cheat River. But after a week of heavy rain in NC-WV, the stream looked a bit murky yesterday. Not even the sediment washing away from the mountains dims its beauty in my eyes. And the enchanting, moss-encrusted forest along its bank holds its own late summer treasures.
From top: great blue lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica), which pairs beautifully with cardinal flower to provide late summer color in a native wildflower garden; white wood aster (Eurybia divaricata), which is the most common of the shade-loving white asters in this area; crooked-stemmed aster (Symphyotrichum prenanthoides), also known as zigzag aster, whose clasping, spatula-shaped leaves distinguish it from big-leaf aster, another woods-loving aster with lavender flowers; blue-stemmed goldenrod (Solidago caesia), whose spreading, yellow-flowered stems provide stunning late-season color in a native wildflower garden; an intensely-green collage of moss, woodland stonecrop (Sedum ternatum), Christmas fern (Polystichum acrostichoides) and heartleaf foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia), which I am trying hard to reproduce in my own native wildflower shade garden; the shaggy-maned stem of Coker's Amanita (Amanita cokeri), one of the most impressive mushrooms of Appalachia's summer forests; beech-drops (Epifagus virginiana), a parasitic plant that grows and subsists on beach tree roots; the bright red berries of false Solomon's seal (Maianthemum racemosum); yellow jewelweed (Impatiens pallida), whose explosive seed pods give the plant its other common name, pale touch-me-not; and narrow-leaved tick-trefoil (Desmodium paniculatum), also known as panicled tick-trefoil, a late summer pea whose sticky seed pods commonly hitch rides on shoes and boots.

Warrior Cats Prefixes List- A
I had a WC Name Generator on Perchance that I made but I don't seem to have access anymore, so I'm remaking it here as just a simple list. The definitions used are the ones that Clan cats have for those things, and thus are the origins of the names. Definitions used are whatever I found when I googled it.

ASTER: Sorry, Smile. If itâs between you and the point, Iâd rather miss it. Take the banner and leave us be. SARAYN: A wise decision. I know those are hard for you to come by. ASTER: Hey now, Iâm being cooperative. No need for unsolicited reminders. THERION: Well⌠good luck to you. ASTER: Mm. Maybe after youâve had your spot of fun, do a little bit of self-reflecting, eh? Or donât, I donât care. THERION: We wouldnât have killed her. ASTER: Yeah, piss off. EIRA: Bastards. ASTER: Worldâs full of them. Come on, sit here and rest. Let me have a look at those injuries. EIRA: snorts You? ASTER: Yeah, yeah, I know Iâm no Eve, but Iâve had to do my fair share of bandaging up on the road. ASTER: Well, itâs not deep. At least, you should hold up okay till we can get you back to a real healer. But letâs not be in a rush, you look right exhausted. EIRA: Iâm fine. ASTER: Of course you are. Bout as fine as I am, which is about as fine as two very not fine things. EIRA: laughs At least you finally admitted it. ASTER: I suppose I have to respect a woman willing to die just to make a statement. Besides, you did your best. I owe you that much. EIRA: Who knew the jackass could use magic? ASTER: He is an elf, after all. EIRA: So are you. ASTER: So people keep saying. Extraordinary. Itâs as if having a bit of point to your ears makes you special. I can assure you, that is not the case. In fact, itâs made me rather unspecial over the course of my life. EIRA: Yeah? ASTER: Oh yes. But surely you know all about being outcast. EIRA: You can only be cast out if you belonged in the first place. ASTER: Huh. How profound. I could write a song about that. Or at least, I might have. EIRA: What? The trials so obnoxious theyâve forced you into early retirement? ASTER: Not exactly. But not not exactly. EIRA: Do you ever give straight answers? ASTER: Personally, I prefer zigzags. But⌠itâs complicated. Or not so complicated. Just stings a bit. I donât have a problem admitting Iâve fucked upâ hell, my entire life is somebodyâs fuck up. It's just the reality that maybe it was a bridge too far. Rather a hard truth to swallow. EIRA: So, what was it? ASTER: Eh, you know, robbed an ancient cave. Pilfered a cursed golden skull, the usual. EIRA: Yeah, sounds like something youâd do. ASTER: Youâre not wrong. Suppose I thought it might have just been a wee curse. I could handle a bit of poor luck. Iâve broken a lot of mirrors, you see. What was the worst that could happen? Turns out, that black magic can take just about everything from you. At least anything worth a damn. And Iâve only got two things. EIRA: Your voice. ASTER: And my music. Spent a lot of time trying to remember a thing I havenât forgotten. The notes are right in front of me and I canât play them. How does that work? Well, Iâll tell you: it doesnât. Now what do I do? Am I supposed to just find some new purpose in life? Thatâs a lot of work. And maybe not worth the time. People like you when youâve got something to offer them, even if for a minute or two. If Iâve got nothing, Iâve really got nothing, you know? EIRA: You werenât kidding. Youâre really not yourself. ASTER: Mm. Last time I told this many truths I was sloppy drunk in a dwarven whorehouse. But maybe Iâm just exhausted. I donât like thinking too much, and Iâve been doing an awful lot of it these past few days. EIRA: I donât care for it much either. ASTER: Hm? EIRA: Thinking too hard. But Iâm not like you. I donât have distractions. I canât get out of my head. ASTER: Well, that does sound terrible. EIRA: Then again, maybe you try too hard to get out of yours. ASTER: Youâre not wrong there, either. EIRA: If you came by the tavern, no one would turn you away. Music or not. ASTER: I donât know about âno oneâ. EIRA: You donât need everyone. You just need a few good someones. But youâre set in your ways and canât see whatâs right in front of you. I was there, too. You ought to spend time with the Valkyrie. ASTER: Oh? EIRA: Sheâs good at breaking doors. And arms. ASTER: laughs You know, Witcher. Youâre not so bad. EIRA: Yeah. You neither.

Goldenrods
Itâs nowhere near the fall hayfever season, but I thought Iâd PSA anyway.
Hayfever is caused by RAGWEED (Ambrosia artemisiifolia and Ambrosia trifida where I live).

NOT. Goldenrod (Solidago, Oligoneuron, Euthamia). It is impossible for goldenrods to even cause hayfever since their pollen isnât released to the wind. Goldenrods are beautiful, with some edible parts, some medicinal properties, and middle of summer through fall pollenators love them.
Non-exhaustive list of goldenrods
Euthamia graminifolia (Flat-top goldenrod):

Oligoneuron rigida (Stiff goldenrod):

Solidago bicolor (Silverrod):

Solidago caesia (Blue-stem goldenrod):

Solidago canadensis (Canada goldenrod):

Solidago flexicaulis (Zigzag goldenrod):

Solidago juncea (Early goldenrod):

Solidago missouriensis (Prairie goldenrod):

Solidago multiradiata (Alpine goldenrod):

Solidago nemoralis (Gray goldenrod):

Solidago odora (Anise-scented goldenrod):

Solidago ohiensis (Ohio goldenrod):

Solidago patula (Rough-leaf goldenrod):

Solidago ptarmicoides (Upland white aster):

Solidago rugosa (Wrinkleleaf goldenrod):

Solidago simplex (Spike goldenrod):

Solidago speciosa (Showy goldenrod):

Solidago uliginosa (Bog goldenrod):

The only drawback is that many goldenrod species spread a lot and quickly if you donât keep on top of those rhizomes. But if you need to fill a space in a relatively short period of time, why not try some in your garden? Theyâll grow up green through spring and summer and put on a show in the fall (earlier depending on the species)!Â

calliope: golden orb weaver, Trichonephila calvipes. i used the âcalâ in calvipes, itâs more of a stretch than the others. this is my favorite spider, the females are huge and docile and spin their webs with yellow silk! the males look like tiny chili peppers (represented by her earrings)

Thank you so muchđđđđđ
Woah, is that Aster? I've heard so many good things about zag! Zig is super cool, and should be proud of zigzag for all zigs accomplishments.

Sheets of clear liquid wax were running down before the windows of the chancellor hallway. Breakfast hovered on dented trays and stalled. Warped triangles ruled the geometry of the common structures, sending the map into chaos and hurt. Plants, flowers, grew and wilted at once, stretching forth, thickening stems, thickening and darkening sap that sweated and beaded in the furrowed wrinkles of the rind. Brave long-haired Shirley zigzagged the labyrinth to reach the stairs; the clasps of the chains only caught her twice, in the sleeve and her sock. The echo of the slam came back and cracked the concrete wall by the kitchen entry; sallow eyes writhed drowsily from the damage.
Cocky feldspar ran amok and corniced the mudroom; foul tracks spiralled there into the puckered noose and remained reminded. The hair-like abundance of bindings shook in air, for the leaders were all gone on long travels; the cakes unturned at home, burning. Sprouted toes launched upon discourse: host the flies that gather, take the certificates with restraint, bind them in the air with the rest, so we will go to rest.
They made of the flatterer a stock, pinned the seam with a wall made square. Under flagrant patchwork diaries flooded out the store of travelsâ dues: made a printed way to draw the beams from the halls, and betook them to the aster, with Shirley among them nursing her arm and leg. They found diagonal bores in effect, and carried them out to the hill; never a lamp shone so clear and liquid, never a sortie was so trialled in the halls.

You know it's autumn when . . . the ravishing lavender blossoms of Short's aster (Symphyotrichum shortii) erupt from shady forest edges, especially oak woods. This aster is a personal favorite of mine, not least of all for its dense, spreading clusters of large flowers arrayed on numerous branching stems. Short's aster has long, thin, lanceolate leaves with heart-shaped bases on the lower stem that become gradually more rounded as they ascend. This aster has one of the best form factors of any of our native wildflowers and exhibits beautifully when massed. I planted seeds for Short's aster to pair with the blue-stemmed and zigzag goldenrods in my native wildflower gardens back in September. I'm really looking forward to having the late season color in my gardens next fall.

Intro Post
Hey, itâs Aster! Iâm this blogâs resident wordsmith and I wanted to put something together that celebrates the Non-Binary Community with language. There seems to be a distinct lack of good words and terms for the non-binary, androgynous and genderqueer. Here I will be coining some new terms and bringing the spotlight to less common gender-neutral terms that already exist. Feel free to use these terms no matter how you personally identify!
Name and Pronoun check requests are also welcome! There are already lots of blogs devoted to this kind of thing, so it will not be the main focus of this one. But if you send them, they will be done here as well.
I identify as a lot of things, so Iâll give a list:
Gender
Non-binary
Agenderfluid
Gendersatyr
Genderhoarder
 -Stargender
 -Demi-Guy
 -Femboy
 -Agender
 -Gendervoid
 -True Neutral
-and the ones that exist but I couldnât give you a name for them
Sexuality
Oriented AroaceÂ
Cupiosexual/Cupioromantic
Kins
Galaxykin
Spacekin
Starkin
Voidkin
Something vaguely therian and definitely cryptid
Seraphim/Angelkin (but as a spacebeing, not religious)
I am also a name and pronounhoarder so here are some of my favorites:
Names
Aster
LoganÂ
Kai
Sol
Krypt
Rune
Xylo
Pronouns
Ae/Aer/Aers/Aerself
E/Im/Is/Iself
Myth/Mythic/Mythics/Myth(ic)self
Sol/Sol/Sols/Soulself
One/One/Ones/Oneself
Zig/Zag/Zigs/Zags/Zigzag
Grey/Grey/Greys/Greyself
Voi/Void/Voids/Voidself
Iâm hoping that I donât need to put together an official dni. Just be friendly and kind. If you have something negative to say, put it in your diary, not here. Iâm 100% ok with discussions over differences in opinion but be kind and respectful.
As an aroace and a person with some lingering trauma, I ask that any asks or comments on things of sexual nature not happen here.
Thank you, have an absolutely lovely day and I will see you around, Friend!

It is the season of the Aster in
southern Maine. We must have
a half dozen species in flower
just now, everywhere from road-
side to deep woods. Of course
it begins with the big showy
New England Aster...purple petals
radiating from a bright yellow center,
but we also have the Tall White Aster,
which is (you guessed it) tall and white,
with those same yellow centers,
and then the spidery petaled
Large Leafed Wood Aster, the tiny
flowered White Wood Aster, and
the low growing Blue Wood Aster,
very like the white but colored
like the New England. And then
we have at least two species of
Goldenrod, the Seaside and the
Zigzag (and yes that is its name),
So an abundance of Asters here
in southern Maine, getting on for
late September, to keep us company
as the leaves turn red and we slip,
as gracefully as we can, into fall.

@by-the-primes she is the ultimate tomato compilation! Yes I noticed that after that she has a lot of the markings like Dani does but also a lot like Asterâs. I guess we go along the lines of this sweet little tomato getting family marks.
âSee these on mouth? My aunties have them! My grandpa has these zigzags! But these squishy cheeks are courtesy of my Buir!â
Little Moon đ and prep for Yavin IV (WIP)
The eldest grand tomato đ
gets ready to leave Dathomir for Yavin IV of course she wants to show off her new robes inspired by a certain someoneâŚwhat is wonderful about it all is that she chose them from the start.
While Leta put most of the robes together with careful stitching and with the cloth saved from her lost homeworldâŚthereâs still enough for when Selene growsâŚshe might make a cloak later to keep her warm. On the other hand, Cress embroidered parts of it with the traditional patterns his buir taught him. Small phrases in Mandoâa can be found between the pleats and about the collar.
The little grand tomato is proud to wear such attire that pays homage to the most important people in her life.
