I miss the Venture Bros. I miss the promise of new episodes every few years. I was happy to wait because the wait was ALWAYS worth it. I hope Doc and Jackson are enjoying their retirement. They absolutely earned it. But damn….i miss the love letter of a show that they gave us.

Y’all. I feel like I need to give a shout out to AO3 writers who properly tag their posts. Because they’re the real ones.

I read the synopsis of a book this morning, decided it sounded good, and spent the day reading it. But I only finished it because of the good ol’ sunk cost fallacy. It was the first in a duology and I won’t be reading the second.

The synopsis made it sound like it was an M/M romance. It was actually an M/M/NB romance. Here’s the thing: polyamory is great. I gots absolutely no issue with it whatsoever. But it doesn’t do it for me. I prefer my romance stories to be couple flavored, rather than throuple.

And I’m sitting here kinda pissed off that the synopsis COMPLETELY sidestepped the non-binary character. Like, one, give NB folks their god damn wins ffs. And two, don’t mislead your readers by not properly explaining the specific romance the book offers.

P.S. I blame the publisher for this, not the author.

Okay, so I'm a Redditor and a Tumblr-er-er. I saw a headline on Reddit the other day about Jack Quaid being super excited that Tom Holland knew who he was. He said, “I can't believe Spider-Man knows who I am!”

The people in the comments ripped this poor man apart. They said, “of course he knows who you are. You're Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan's son.” Then they bitched and whined about nepo babies for a while.

Let’s get a couple of things straight here.

One, there aren’t many people in the world who are going to know who someone is strictly because they are a famous person's child. That's not the way the real world works. However, people will know an actor for their work.

Before 2019, I didn't know who Jack Quaid was. No fucking clue. Just because he was Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid's son didn't mean I could spot him in the wild. But then I saw him in The Boys. And then I fell in love with Star Trek: Lower Decks. And now when I see him, my mind screams:

So, yeah, I know who he is because of his work. I’m guessing that how Tom Holland knows him as well.

Two, on Nepo babies. Yes, some people get a leg up in the entertainment industry because of who they know or who they’re related to. That's life. It’s not always fair. Sometimes us normies get jobs because of who we know or who we’re related to as well. But we just call it networking.

So, yeah, there are going to be Nepo babies who are not good actors or singers or what have you. Just like there are going to be non-Nepo babies who are not good actors or singers or whatever. But there are also going to be Nepo babies who are fantastic at their jobs. And Jack Quaid is one of them. He's a very passionate actor who loves what he does.

So, I just need to say, give the man a fucking break. I would also lose my mind if I met Tom Holland. Especially if he knew who I was. Which he definitely wouldn't, lol.

My stepmom and I were watching Strange New Worlds the other day and I casually pointed out how Quinto!Spock and Peck!Spock don’t have that cunty eyeshadow that Nimoy!Spock absolutely rocked the fuck out of.

She was immediately angry that we no longer had male Vulcans in makeup anymore.

This woman gets it.

I’m currently rewatching two of my favorite comfort shows; Star Trek: Lower Decks and The Venture Bros. It’s made me think on one of my favorite tropes jn voice acting — actors who only use their real voice.

Paul F. Tompkins is one of these actors. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve heard him try to disguise his voice. It’s just not one of his strengths. What he is good at is using tone and inflection to inform the audience of the character’s personality and intentions.

Dr. Migleemo and the Blue Morpho/Don Fitzcarraldo are WILDLY different characters. And although they both sound like Paul F. Tompkins, I could hear a side to side, blind comparison and easily tell you who was who. And I think that’s really fucking cool.

Paul, you’re a god damned delight.

In Lower Decks, we only ever learned about Mariner and Tendi’s families. I want to know more about Boimler, Rutherford, and T’Lyn’s families. I want to know everything about the Warp Core Five, damn it!

I’ve been watching Strange New Worlds and I finally made it to the crossover episode in season two. We need to give a giant thank you to Bradward Boimler for (hopefully) breaking up Spock and Chapel. Because holy shit was that pairing FORCED.

Like, she has genuine chemistry with Ortegas! Let’s get them together! Stop using one soupy moment in one TOS episode to force Spock into a relationship with another woman. AND GIMME MORE QUEER TREK RELATIONSHIPS. Good lord, people. It’s a ship full of humans and aliens and not everyone is gonna be in heterosexual relationships for crying out loud.

Also, I really like T’Pring. They made her a very sympathetic character. But she gotta go in order to make way for the holiest of holies: Spirk

With every rewatch of Lower Decks, I love Jack Ransom more and more. Starting in season three, we really get to see his personality bloom and he’s such a fucking dork, lol. We were robbed of seeing him as the captain of the Cerritos.
