Hello my pronouns are he/them and I am a writer who has recently come to the conclusion that I need to do some self promotion, or whatever that's called. I also have ASD (autism spectrum disorder) just for the record.

This is beautiful.
Tumblr media
(from "the breathing")
shadows waving in layers
beneath the blue lights
were blackened
and the silence
with a deafening symphony
was frozen
only the breathing
breaks the ice of silence
like a cry of a bird
glimmering deeply and unstably
in this huge world
I am left alone
I am left alone.
the cold silence
the desolate darkness
the breathing piercing the air
in that suffocating swell
I am left alone
I am left alone.
sinking is
not a bad thing

It took me years to figure out the lip balm tip . . .
(These tips are golden by the way.)
this is your gentle reminder to stop fighting against your adhd and instead structure your life around it
buy a pack of chapsticks and put one in the pocket of all of your coats and jackets because you always forget to bring one and chapped lips is sensory hell
leave important things where you can see them. if they go in a box or a drawer you will forget they exist
put any appointments or deadlines in your phone calendar As Soon As you get them. set a reminder for a week before, a day before, an hour before, as many as you need as often as you need them.
when that little voice in your head says "i dont need to write that down, ill remember it" that is the devil talking!!! write it down anyway!!
plan for down time. have a few hours at the end of every day to just do fun stuff like engage in your hyperfixations. even if you didnt get all of your work done that day, have the rest anyway. you probably spent the whole day beating yourself up for not doing what you Should be doing, so you still need the break.
if you never eat vegetables because its too much effort to chop and cook them, get the frozen or canned shit. it doesnt go off for ages and you just have to microwave it. theres no point buying fresh vegetables if they just keep going off and being left to rot in the bottom of your fridge
if you struggle to decide what to have for dinner every day, take the decision out of it. choose a set of meals and eat those on rotation until you get sick of them, then choose some new ones and do it again.
its not stupid if it works! our brains literally have a chemical deficiency. you are allowed to accommodate yourself. go forth and stop making your life more difficult than it has to be because "this shouldn't be this hard". it is hard, so make it easier.

No, that is annoying, I go through these periods were I am incredibly under stimulated which makes it feel like even things I love, like writing, is boring. And whenever I talk about it I'm told to "go do the dishwasher." And that's not going to make me feel more stimulated, if anything it'll make it worse.

Interview your characters
If you really want to get to know your characters, interview them.
Write out a series of questions (or used a pre-made set, like the Proust Questionnaire) and answer them in your character’s voice. They’ll soon start to develop unique personalities.

Yeah, they are really nice people. I love working for them.
And, unfortunately I'm still in the process of unlearning that idea, it's absolutely horrible as well because whenever I'm eating something I like I feel compelled to do something I also enjoy doing. Which, spoiler, is not studying. And most often results in me doodling or watching a TV show.

Please don't call me out like this.
Being trans and neurodivergent is annoying.
I love tight clothes and pressure in the right places cause it’s calming. But the dysphoria, fucking hell. I love giant hoodies cause they’re warm but they look quite ridiculous and don’t. fall. right. Wide trousers are great till you gotta pull them up 100x an hour and cause DYSPHORIA. Yay.

Flaws to Add to Characters
So, are you searching on how to make your character a little bit less perfect without giving them too many extreme deficiencies? Well, I have a few examples, and some of you guys might've not even realized that they're flaws!
Inability to get over the past - This doesn't have to be as serious as people think! Maybe the past just influenced your character in a way that affects his modern life!
Self-reliance - This doesn't sound like a flaw, doesn't it? Well, in some cases, it could be an issue a character struggles to overcome, and other times, it can actually be a part of a character's development! However, the act of never accepting help from someone is most definitely a shortcoming.
Apathy - I think that this is pretty self-explanatory. Over-passionate people are dangerous, but worse than that are people who don't care enough.
Over-passionate - It's still a flaw, guys! Having too much passion for one thing to the point where nothing else matters is harmful to your character.
Vengeful - This is also rather clear, I don't think I need to further explain this.
Detached - Almost like self-reliance, but to a more severe degree, where they don't see the need for not only anyone's help, but for anyone in general.
Possessiveness - If a character is too possessive towards another character, it could harm the latter's mental health and ruin any relationship between the two.
Manipulative - I hope that no one needs me to explain this!
Self-destructive - Honestly, this has a pretty wide range of examples, it could go from neglecting oneself to actual self-harm. Either way, it's definitely not healthy for a character.
Superiority/God complex - The problem is in the name: a character with these complexes simply believes that they are better than everyone else. It's similar to arrogance, but not quite the same.
Here you go! Ten flaws that you can incorporate in your characters!
Happy writing~

Oh, I'm sorry that happened. I don't have much experience in a work environment but when I got my first job one of my questions was about me having ASD, and if that would be a problem (it wasn't and my bosses were understanding). I am, admittedly kind of straight forward. I'll admit though, in terms of confidence in saying something it helped that some of other people who worked there weren't "normally abled".
I totally get it though, I am incapable of sitting through something like a meeting, where I'm just paying attention and have nothing to do. I normally end up doodling or eating way too much refined sugar to stay awake during classes. (Which I'm told isn't the HEALTHIEST method of staying awake).
>_<
