school advice
hey loves! i wanted to give some school advice, like tips on how to do good while also taking care of your mental health. right now i’m wrapping up my freshman year w all a+ in all honors classes and next year i have a lot planned in terms of ap classes and good grades and stuff.
academic:
keep to-do lists
do homework as soon as you can
push yourself to stop procrastination- do your work as soon as you can
keep your backpack clean and stock up on materials when you need to
ask as many questions as you need to
study a little bit each day (10 or 15 minutes can make a big difference)
check your grades often (in order to see if you’re missing work, or so you can talk to your teacher about bad grades to see if you can re-take the assignment, etc.)
create a study routine (a place to study, a consistent routine to make studying not so bad)
always negotiate! if you get a bad grade ask your teacher about any extra credit assignments or if you can re-do any work. my schoolyear is ending so i’ve been asking teachers for extra work to bump up my grade and it’s working.
go above and beyond. strive to do your best and get ahead with work. i always do my work ahead of time so i can get ahead and do better.
be respectful to your teachers. i know some teachers suck but at the end of the day they’re underpaid and have shitty jobs. use your manners, be patient- it’ll pay off. you don’t have to be a teacher’s pet or anything, but just showing respect can help a ton.
mental health/outside of school:
prioritize consistency. develop a study routine that is effective and makes you feel good. make studying fun- even if it’s just having a pretty little space to study, create a routine.
join extra-curricular activites. this helps a lot for meeting new friends and just doing something you love. softball season was the most fun i had this year and i made a ton of new friends.
stay out of drama. obviously. don’t join in when it comes to drama- observe and avoid it! the last thing you need is additional stress.
be careful who you trust. when it comes to friends i always like to take a while before i really trust someone. i always observe how people act and how that makes me feel which is how i’m able to determine who i want to be around and who i don’t.
have hobbies outside of school. also, have non-school related hobbies to do in your free-time, just to create a sense of balance in your life.
stay healthy. keep a journal for your stress/mental health- take care of your mental and physical health. you don’t need to sacrifice your mental health for good grades, and you don’t need to sacrifice your grades for your mental health. it’s all about creating routines and a balance.
work outside of school. if you really want to do better academically do work outside of school- read, be curious, look into programs that can help you get ahead.

How to incorporate exercise into your daily routine !!
Exercise can be extremely taxing and end up feeling more like a chore than something fun if approached in the wrong way. However, there are certain things you can do to relieve the pressure felt from society that tells you that working out has to be something strenuous and unenjoyable - it can be the best part of your day !!
Firstly, remember that you don't have to exercise the traditional way aka deadlifting in a gym full of bodybuilders. Hobbies such as dance (ballet, contemporary, hip-hop etc) can be used as a form of daily exercise, as they are actually very muscle intensive and you aren't limited to needing prior experience - just join a class !!

Secondly, ppl heavily underestimate the power of just walking. Instead of taking the bus for a 10 min drive, walk that 20 mins instead. Instead of taking the elevator, take the stairs. Instead of half-heartedly running on the treadmill for half an hour, take a brisk walk around your neighbourhood - it does just the same thing w less effort required !!

Lastly, remember that consistency is key. You can ensure that you will keep on track by creating a reward system - I love to treat myself to some new skincare or a certain item of clothing after a month of keeping up with self-care. If a month is too long, reward yourself more regularly, just make sure to tailor it to yourself for the best results!!

Love Yourself
Prioritize your mental health, create a skin care routine. Tell yourself affirmations, even if it feels weird. Stay hydrated, take care of your body, help others without expecting a reward from it. Be kind to others and be kind to yourself. Appreciate the small things, protect your peace, love yourself even when it’s hard.
When one door closes, another one opens. Your hard work will always pay off <3

How to make someone feel loved <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Write them a cute letter.
Carefully listen to what they are saying and ask genuine questions.
Wait for them if you notice them falling behind.
Ask them how their day was. <3
Show them your favourite songs, films, and books.
“I miss you”, “I love you, “I’m thinking about you”.
Bake them something. Like the heart jam cookies from Pinterest (should I post the recipe??)
Make them a playlist. :)
If they get interrupted, ask what they were going to say.
Remember their favourite coffee/drink order.
Offer them encouragement and support.
Surprise them with a small gift, something that made you think of them.
Buy them flowers.
Send them links to stuff that you think they might like.
Let them know how grateful you are to have them in your life. <3
As always, Please feel free to add more suggestions and tips in the comments!
