Oh this is my time to shine and be the ”umm actually ☝️🤓” guy in defence of the Taggart name.

There has been one actual promotional material tilting the favor for Taggart being doom guys actual name and that is the promotional video for the Daisy plushie that came out last year in Christmas Day.

At the start of that video ON the locker it says F.Taggart meaning that yes that is probably his name.

I also agree whit op here that yes he’s still a blazkowic. Now this is just my own speculation but what I think happened is that B.J had his daughters one of them had keen and his children billy (son) and billie (daughter) now where i differ here compared to that one image on reddit is that I think that it’s Billie who had Doom guy rather then billy. This due to Doom guys potential last name.

We know that keens actually name still holds Blazkowicz as his last name meaning his children also probably also probably got to hold on to it till billie most likely marries into the Taggart family taking her husbands last name and then passing that name onto Doom guy.

Hmm, true. Could've worded it better. Wasn't about "Well actually" and didnt mean to sound like a dick. Its just that recently I'm seeing much more Flynn Taggart tags and was wondering how it came to this, cuz just a while ago it shunned by "hes a Blaskowitz it was confirmed". (It wasn't really).

Okay, so genuinely why come to me about it? I haven't in any way started the conversation or declared it canon anywhere on my blog. Hell I have only used the name in fanfiction (I repeat fanfiction. Not canon.) and I use tags on my discussion posts about canon for visibility because, again, a lot of people do like and consider the name but if you actually read those posts of mine I actually only refer to him as Doom Guy or Slayer, never Flynn.

Also if I did why does it matter so much? Why are you in my asks when I never brought up the matter in the first place? You could've easily just posted about this on your own if it REALLY bothers you that much for you to wonder and you could probably get a lot more answers because the community on here is really nice and small from what I've seen really likes to engage and discuss with one another. And I like to discuss too! I'm just personally bamboozled how out of left field this came across and being asked like I'm the #1 Flynn Taggart truther when I never really was, I just like it.

@meriamarie in a post and @rosie-artz in tags both on reblogs of the post I answered your original ask made really good points I would recommend reading but basically him having a name - Flynn or otherwise - really humanizes him. He was a ordinary man before Mars, you know? He had to have a name no matter what you think or prefer it to be and at this point I don't think we'll ever get the truth of the "canon" one, so where's the harm in adopting the one from the iconic Groovy-Big-Guts-Rip-And-Tear comic? None. I like canon, yeah, but there's points where you got to relax and things it's not serious especially at this point where again I really don't think we're ever getting an actual name - this whole conversation would be different if we ever do get one however where yeah I would encourage people to use the hypothetical new name over Flynn Taggart but we're not there so... let people have fun, their own interpretations, their own headcanons.

As for the Blaszkowicz comment, Tom Hall and John Romero:

And if you want (and I'm going to guess probably with how fickle you seem about canon) say this only applies for classic doom and not modern games because neither of them work on them anymore or this is been said after the fact, sure whatever. But like nothing in the modern trilogy outright says no to it, so left completely up to fan interpretation which a lot of fans do adopt, so.

"But if he's a Blazkowicz he can't he a Taggart!" Why not? Surnames can easily change through generations, through marriage or ect. Why can't he be both? In this interpretation he's just not presenting the Blazkowicz name but I headcanon (I repeat headcanon, not canon) the whole reason he went into the military was to be a hero like BJ and genuinely wanted to help people... then Stuff™ happened. That's I have to say about it.

Anyway I hope this has been a healthy discussion, I hope I didn't come across rude I just really still don't know how I got into it in the first place and just confused but I get to talk about pookie so it's okay 🫶

Plot: reader meets Angron after his ascension

You haven’t seen him in what felt like months now. First, he left for Nuceria, he didn’t tell you why which you didn’t expect; You knew it was a sensitive topic for him but something felt wrong once he was back on board. You had asked Kharn what had happened but the captain kept shut.

You couldn’t wait any longer, you had to find out what had happened to your husband while he was gone, the walk down the stairs to the seller was eerily quiet. The light faded as you got closer to the bottom.

The cellar was dark and smelled of death. It took a moment, your eyes having to adjust only to be met by broken furniture, piles of skulls littered the floor. You called out his name only to be met with silence, hesitation spread through you as your body moved one step forward into the darkness, you called out for him once more…still, now answer. You took another step in this time only to be met by a half-torn blood, only the bottom half left, discarded on the floor like a forgotten doll.

The sound of something moving catches you off guard as your head snaps up and that is when you see it. Two smouldering eyes stare at you from the far corner of the room, the large mass reached up to the roof making the creature have to bend down to fit more comfortably.

Angron stared at you as you called out for him once more. Something about you seems so familiar to him and yet he can’t recall why.

That day the lover of the Primarch of the World eaters does not return from the celler and a new skull was added to Angrons collection. Angron knew this skull was important to him, symbolising something. This time he decided to keep it for himself; attached to his war plate, closest to his heart.

In a weird way I feel like this somehow amplifies the his character even more. Like the dehumanisation gose so far that even the actual players of doom games (mostly dude bros (no hate to them)) just see him as that, the power fantasy of fantasy’s.

It’s just sad that the most we actually get to see of his actual personhood is in his man cave in the fortress of doom. Like come on Id I’m on my hands and knees begging for a spin of comic that just him doing normal things, maybe even following his attempts to re-integrate into society (this manly comes from the fact that Australia is completely fine meaning that’s probably one of the few safe havens and the half empty pizza boxes on his desk)

honestly i think the doom lore is working with a lot of cool ideas and executing most of them poorly, If they really want doomguy to be a tragic figure of revenge and hatred on a path of perpetual torment, theres a lot more they could dig into there, but they dont cause they arent very good writers. Ironically this directly contributes to one of the most potent aspects of doomguy as a tragic character. dead bunnies and dead families are sad, but thats the past, theres a current tragedy with him that goes completely ignored that i think is quite interesting, which is how completely and utterly dehumanized he is. the only time his humanity is even remotely acknowledged is when he's being insulted by the khan maykr or ahzerak. Even the "good guys" treat him more like a mythological hero then an actual guy. The story of the dark ages gets *so close* to acknowledging this, and some could argue it does, but I don't think it really has much to say about it. even the rename fits this, hes a weapon, a being of pure revenge and bloodlust, a being of doom but not the doom guy hes the doom "slayer" but they would never do this because no one on the id writing team views doomguy as an actual guy, barely anyone in the fandom views doomguy as an actual guy. its borderline sacreligious to acknowledge that hes an actual guy, and in 1993 doom that works! But now they've made enough lore where hes solidly outside of the area of "empty insert for the player" so hes just left in this weird middle ground of being an insanely overpowered demigod superhero with a tragic backstory but no actual depth beyond that ever elaborated upon or given to him out of fear of characterizing him "to much"

Hase started out working for the UAC. Young and really nothing to guide his life he voluter as a test subject for a cryo sleep program, gets to sleep for a couple of years then get paid a lot of money? Easy money. So he gets sent to mars where the testing takes place. Once on base he gets settled along with the other volunteers once bumping into one of the marines stationed on the base, the guy seemed rather upset at being there, either way He apologized and moved on with his day.

Soon the day comes, he’s nervous of course being the first batch of test subjects but the research’s say they have had great successes with testing on other mammals. Hase get settled into his pod and closes his eyes praying he’ll open them again.

Reports had been coming in about vital supply chains being disrupted. In a war like this Thira and the rest of the sentinels can’t afford something like this. Previous attempts had been made trying to catch the perpetrator with no luck. With seemingly a small moment to breathe Thira sends the slayer out with a small squad, they manage to track them down to a local taverns in one of the larger cities nearby that has yet to be destroyed.

Once stepping inside the place was rather full, men and women alike trying to keep morale up by drinking, talking and singing. At first the place quieted down, the once cheery laughter hunkering down to a whisper as the slayer stepped in. The mass stared at him as he moved between the tables but just as he had left the door the sound of feet against hard stone smattered the door flying open as someone took off. He had found his target. The air was cold, filled with the threat of rain as the slayer sprinted after the man, typically this wouldn’t have been an issue if it not for the tight labyrinthine corridors circling around them. Right As he was about to grasp the man’s cloak the man seemed to slip right into another tighter passage forcing the slayer to find another way around. The chase wore on till the man that felt like suddenly just disappeared into the crowd. His breathing was heavy as the voice of one of the sentinels rang out in his helmet ”the Hare escaped again.” The informed Thira.

The sounds of the slayers footsteps echoed in the empty hallways he walked through. New reports had come in of what the sentinels described as ”an alien structure” they had just discovered no to long ago. The structure wasn’t Alien, he knew these halls. It was a piece of the Base on mars, never in a million life times had he wanted to walk through those halls again but here he was, not so carefully stepping over corpses as he found a part of the wing he had never had accessory before. The door was half open, the automatic function long gone broken. He took a step into the room, just like everywhere else the floor was littered in carnage that however was the least interesting thing in this room. The walls were lined with pods, each and everyone broken besides one who just seemed to have a crack in it, next to the pod seemed to have been information written down beside them most of it missing beside one that seemed relatively clean. The only readable information being a serial number: PCN-01-05

Thira lets out a sigh in relief, they had finally caught the Hare after 2 years of cat and mouse. She watched as he got escorted out of the room by two guards, the cloaks he usually wears now gone from him revealing the hollow form underneath. The man struggles as they pass the slayer, the man screams and yells at the guards in a language that sounds familiar to him but he can’t place his finger on it, before they know Hare frees himself and take of sprinting for his life like a mad man the guards and the slayer take chase. Just like before the man uses his size to weave his way future away from his pressures in the process somehow knocking the slayer out.

The place he finds himself in is cold, damp. The sound of water dripping down onto the stone floor mixed with the scurrying of small paws all around him. Groggily the slayer opens his eyes only to be met by a couple of thousand staring back at him. Rats. Giant fucking sewer rats. The rats suddenly stop as he hears footsteps approaching from behind, soon the man comes into view half dressed, his spine and ribs poking out of him. Signs of starvation. He lets his eyes travel upward and in the nape of the man’s neck he finds it: PCN-01-05.

He looks at the slayer, an uneasy smile twitching on his lips seemingly deciding whether or not to speak. ”What?” He asks getting face to face with the slayer. ”stop staring at me like that.��
