Sourceshifter

A sourceshifter is a headmate who drops and gains sources easily. These sources may feel like kintypes, constels, linktypes, or similar, and therefore make them under the fictionflicker umbrella, but they may also feel like fictive/factives. It may feel like rapidly going through a cycle of pre-factive/fictive to post-factive/fixtive.

These sources are referred to as shifttypes. A sourceshifter may or may not consider themselves an introject and may or may not have sources or other ‘types that do not change. Shifttypes are inherently a type of constel, because they’re a ‘type that an individual picks up later in life rather than being born/formed with it. Shifttypes can be both voluntary and not, though for us it’s a mix of both.

What separates a sourceshifter from general fictionflicker is the connection to those types as well as being exclusive to headmates of a plural system. A shifttype can be identification like and/or as, and, as mentioned before, can make the headmate feel as if they are an introject of that type rather than kin. The amount of connection to a shifttype can vary.

Examples, with our own headmates:

Kostya picks up characters and concepts that are similar to him in appearance, personality, and/or name. His sourcetypes make him feel like an introject of those things, despite originally forming as just a factive. His factive source is constant, but his shifttypes will drop over time and he’ll no longer feel like an introject of those sources, or will feel like a post-factive/fictive.

The Narrator mimics and copies fictional characters. He picks up both their appearance and a majority of their personality, despite having his own appearance and personality without a shifttype. His shifttypes are similar to a linktypes, except they’re somewhat involuntary and influenced by other headmates’ interactions with media. He “passes” as a fictive as long as he has a shifttype, but is brainmade.

We coined this term because fictionflicker/otherlink/constellic do not feel like they fully explain our experiences, especially in relation to “becoming” an introject then “source separating” rapidly. Anyone can use this term if they think it applies to them.

Idk of that makes sense. Like it's kinda just 'the more attention you give me the more i love you' type thing. Kinds like a dog/cat.

Ratisexual / Ratiromantic / Ratiplatonic

Prefix "rati-" pronounced /ra-shi/, as in "ratio"

An orientation under the aspec umbrella where one's attraction is proportional to the attention they receive from a person. It can be considered adjacent to the demi- labels, but is not a subterm of it.

Feel free to coin versions of this term for other types of attraction! Recoloring the stripe + triangle should be easy unless Tumblr compressed it especially bad.

Lingualform / Languageform

A headmate who, in some way, embodies a system’s knowledge in a language. This was coined with a little whose age reflects language proficiency in mind, but this could apply to others as well.

This is not a synonym for a language introject, but the two may overlap. Think of this somewhere between a headmate type and a role. This is also not referring to headmates who know a language others don’t and may be more applicable to systems without in-sys language barriers.

System Compression / Simplification

An event where a (typically polyplex) system's functions are simplified down, such as multiple sisasystems merging together, all members becoming the same type of 'conscious, the headspace shrinking, or layers merging together. This may only happen to part of the system, or all of it. They may no longer be considered polyplex after a system compression, though it's possible they regain the complexity later.

This can alongside system collapse and/or mass fusions, but not necessarily, since this refers more to the change of system functions rather than headcount.
