I haven´t seen yet Natsume´s new episode (will do in a few hours) because I refuse to think this is the end :´)

This year I´ve been so absent in this activity called watching anime... I think I tried with the new season of Kuroshitsuji (a story I was quite hooked with some 5 years ago) but couldn´t complete it. It felt too cringy and wrong, though I couldn´t put my finger on why (yes I can, I´m growing old).

The last anime I was able to watch fully, was the second season of Vinland Saga (love that anime and manga) and you can tell it´s been a while since that released.

Natsume Yuujinchou will be the second anime I manage to watch completely since then, and I couldn´t be happier. This is one of my favorite animes since I discovered it many years ago.

And I do hope we get more seasons or movies in the future.

Now it becomes a habit these late visits and the guy in question somehow-sort-of levitates to get to your second floor window? That's normal, probably he just got good at sports and does parkour now in his spare time.

Has he been letting you keep a doll's finger and every night asks to see it, but never takes it and wants to make these visits your secret? That's perfect as well, probably you're just becoming best friends.

Be careful, Tanuma. One wrong step and you might lose Natsume ✨

Okay, let's say it's not queerbaiting and thus, for the sake of the argument, pretend we didn't see any promotion that leaned towards that end. Not in the press and neither in the show.

Let's forget about that for a sec. Because I've been reading some posts complaining about the people who complaints about not making Nandermo properly canon and I was left wondering... Do you guys really think that was the only problem of the show? Do you truly believe if they had made Nandermo canon in a very straightforward way (saying they're lovers, kissing or whatever, no mistake there) the season would have been good?

Because I seriously doubt it.

I complain about queerbaiting in this show, but I also do think there are other problems as well.

For example, the way they treat Guillermo all through the seasons has always rubbed me the wrong way.

On the first couple of seasons it was okay: He was the servant in a house full of vampires, it's a fun dynamic, with everyone belittling him for being human. But... There was no improvement on the next few seasons.

He had cool arcs, like the vampire slayer thing and also when he briefly became a vampire himself... yet it was always brushed off so he could keep being the silly human who doesn't stand a chance.

And it's okay. Don't make him a vampire, don't make him a hunter. Don't let him out of the house if you don't want to (no, seriously, why didn't he leave?). But why it has been 6 seasons and Guillermo is still there as someone the vampires can mistreat as they please?

Has anyone learned anything or changed at any point in this series?

People are saying the point was to maintain the status quo. And I tell you what, that is just lazy writing (trust me, I'm a writer myself, I know a thing or two about this).

You don't change anything (or revert things to its original point) merely because you don't know how to continue the story and, since it's a comedy, it might look fun to just troll the audience this way.

Problem is that if you never deliver, if you don't give a proper ending for each character, what was even the point of creating a series?

I wish I could say I was disappointed on how they ended What we do in the Shadows, but it wouldn´t be true.

I saw a bad ending coming long ago and didn´t expect much for the finale.

Yes, I do think it´s queerbaiting what they did.

No, I don´t think this season (overall) was good.

The only episode I enjoyed was the third one, when they introduced the vampire hypnosis. After that (and even before) it was dull af. As a matter of fact, I even skipped like 3 episodes and just watched the finale.

I feel the writers didn´t know what to write anymore and just went in with any random shit they thought might be fun (guess what, it wasn´t that funny). There wasn´t a consistent storyline to follow, no nothing.

The finale felt like a bad joke, some kind of, why are you even watching this if we got nothing to offer and we´ve been telling you?

I got a lot of complaints, thinking back (not for just this season). But, the main thing, is that I felt there was no character development (in general, no one gets saved from this). And if sometime, along all these 6 seasons something different happened, it was quickly forgotten or reverted to be back at square one.

Anyway.

Another show to my bin of "I don´t think I´ll be rewatching this".

(It's almost three am but I am fuming, I've been collecting these for a while, my evidence, I WILL write a detailed post about this in a few days but I wanted to leave this here in case anyone else wanted to see how fucking deep this goes)

HYPOTESIS: Nandermo is textbook queerbaiting, not in spite the characters being queer but BECAUSE of it. The ship was used deliberately by the writers, the actors and the marketing in order to bring lgbt viewership to the show with NO intention on ever delivering on their promise.

Also the show presented itself as queer, marketed itself as queer and went to win GLAAD awards two years in a row then proceded to have no m/m or f/f couples for SIX seasons. Their queer rep were just jokes.

I interrupt my usual schedule to ask you, the community who sometimes acknowledges my existence, for Good Omens prompts.

I´ve been sick these last couple of days (just a simple cold, I´m better today) and been wanting to write a GO one-shot. But my braincell has been drained of ideas.

So here I am.

If you got something you want me to put into a story, let me know. Otherwise I´ll go with whatever my feverish single braincell comes up with (and that´ll probably be scary) :D
