It's a thriller! It's a romcom! It's a 32-page Disneyland plug! It's a bleak, unflinching look at emotional manipulation and all the other unethicalities inherent to a secret identity! It's a miracle we finished it before dying of ennui
If in hindsight last chapter looks like a grand experiment in everything people would never expect of Magic Kaito, this chapter stands pretty well in counterpoint: an ideal of everything people would. By this point, Gosho Aoyama must have known—other series could have their deep-dive lore and fifteen-sided plots, his biggest strength lay in the characters. Characters that could be played for laughs or tears, comfort or fears, or just pure raw Spectacle, all within the same page if need be.
So step up and enjoy Kaito at his trickiest, Aoko at her boldest, the good Inspector at his doggedest and almost-competentest, and all the ways they collide like Tokyo's screwiest pinball game. Anyone that asks "So what's Kaito thing about anyway?" could be handed a lot worse than this.
But don't dillydally. Tropical Land's got some loooong lines nowadays.

Kaito and Aoko are REALLY friends. Aoko is NOT his handler she is equally as juvenile and teasing as Kaito.#She's missing a gun that is all. or a sword#I think one of the reasons why I prefer Aoko and Kaito vs Shinichi and Ran is that we get to see them do these normal things#theyre having! fun! together! like normal friends/people on 'dates'!#I say 'date' because Aoko is doing this with an innocent ulterior motive#I forgot how short Aoko's hair was! also where did she get the handcuffs? stole it from her dad or given to her by him?#either way a hilarious mental image#Forget the T-pose. KID's X-pose is hilarious#KID's suit is a bit big on Kaito - something to be said there about legacy and being too young and filling in someone's shoes#Ginzo 'if you can't beat them...stoop down to their level and sucker punch them' Nakamori#Also. did he do the entire pretending to be the crown and its pedestal sequence to get a better look at KID? Hmmm...#A big cut out of the MC as he has inner thoughts while he runs...where have we seen this before?#Magic Kaito really was Gosho's exploration of his style that is more cemented in Conan#Kaito in that wacky shirt pattern and the disco shapes around him as he realises Aoko was clearing his name is a vivid image#'Klassic Kaito Treat' I love my daughter but that is so cringe. I love it#Rounding up everything before tumblr axes me down#The fluidity. the exaggeration of the expressions yet perfectly balanced during heartfelt moments#the fun shenanigans and amount of disbelief to suspend#The charming translated jokes and puns! the beauty in simplicity of the art!#This épisode was so lively. as always a fun read. The ease Peter used Stark tech to make his suit in FFH meaning he's likely spent time in Tony's lab
All the types of Spider-suits in the data base implying Tony had been working on tons of Spider-Man gadgets and suits for Peter
Peter has been an Iron Man fan since he was at least 8 years old
Tony lent Peter a car to take his driver's test (from a car commercial)
Tony actually listens to all the unimportant details of Peter's life (and remembers them) such as getting a churro on patrol and when he quit band practice
Tony to Happy about his party: "did you invite the kid? Why do you hate fun, I like the kid I want you to invite the kid" (from another commercial)
Tony thinks of himself as a father figure to Peter ("my dad never really gave me a lot of support and I'm just trying to break the cycle of shame")
Peter being Tony's favourite young adult

#i think they’re each his favorite in different ways#mitsuhiko is closest in terms of raw intelligence and also was reminiscent of arrogant shinichi days#ayumi is also pretty smart but she leaned more empathetic and iirc her wanting to make sure of something is like half of the reasons the#DB get into trouble#don’t quote me on that i haven’t watched or read dcmk for a hot minute LOL#but anyways Genta is also kinda smart and obv the comic relief so i think conan appreciates the absurdity of genta’s (unintentional) humor#but also each of them has varying interests which lends very conveniently in their cases LOL#but anyways they’re still actual kids so they’re all curious and have no self preservation#esp not after conan’s influence#and haibara could not care less about the law#if the DB (w/o conan) had to hide a body they would go to haibara bec she would actually be helpful. conan would mildly panic#also he would never let it go#batman wannabe#anyways the DB also remind conan that there are some things pure and untainted by the world#which is really important bec their lives are surrounded by the most broken and awful things mankind has done#no one has voted for genta and i find this insulting#i picked the last option bec it made me laugh but#come on#genta has unintentionally helped solve a lot of clues just by saying stuff usually good related#granted the others too but#genta has his moments#LOL sorry for the long rambles that probably are wildly inaccurate to canon#in my defense the arabic dub changed a lot of canon#never forget; shinichi and ran were already engaged in the arabic dub from the start while subtitle and english dub viewers had to wait#1000 EPISODES#what year did the field trip chapter come out again? anyways it was nearly 20+ years since the start of thre manga#and so much more that the arabic dub changed LOL#satellite. end note.

if the whole “rhodey hasnt been rhodey for YEARS” thing is true, then Peter and Tony both have a best friend who wouldn’t even recognize who they are now.

I've been watching Conan voice imitation streams of the Conan crew playing among us. There's these yearly stream where they sometimes invite Hattori vc and everytime he's on he's just automatically become a Kudo bot.
Like last year (2023) his kudos count is 155 compare to last last year (2022) with the count of 416 (thanks you the one who counted them in the comments). I swear his Kudos haunted me even when I'm sleeping.
Bonus content is when Heiji is being voted off he said something along the line of "There's no meaning if Kudos is already dead, just vote me off)(?) And my he goes full yandere sometimes while the Conan vc just keep trying to run away.
Conan even said once: "If I'm an imposter this guy right here would already been dead!"
Even funnier when Heiji and Kid surrounding lil cone and them both keep going :"Meitantei" "Oi Kudo"

Oooh thank you for answering my questions! I figured it was either a lower resolution + big canvas combo or pixel brush for that effect.
I absorb angst and seeing my lovelies hurt LOL. Very much get that sentiment of seeing Atom a little scratched and dusted is bare minimum for what he gets into. It makes me on the edge of my seat when he’s visibly hurt or banged up, and the 2003 anime does a great job of paying attention to little details - and so have you!
