so this time i did the opposite of what i usually do and turned my own alebrije collection into palisman

disclaimer: alebrijes are mexican folkart made usually in oaxaca (which most of these are from) and mexico city, i did not design the alebrijes and just used them as inspiration, please if you ever buy alebrijes make sure they come from artisans as this is their livelihood and cultural appropriation from large companies is always a real threat

made some lore for em, ill put it under the cut

iggy: very clingy and loving, gets upset after spending too much time away from their owner chimalli: a rowdy and energetic little palisman that keeps jumping off of their staff against the wishes of their owner venus: very protective of their owner, pats are not allowed as previous confrontations left her head sensitive and the big biting tail doesnt help aleron: designed for flying sports with an aerodynamic body and wings, he is good sport tho and loves playing around with other palisman lance: rare palisman made with metal parts, these where used by warriors until the idea fell out of use as they didnt want their buddies to be harmed during battle, sadly lance took this as his owner not loving him anymore claire: was made using special gems to boost oracle and illusion magic, she was released by her owner soon after the coven system was created hopper: based on the folklore BI tale of the rabbit on the monsoon, some say it was made by the last person to see one of these flying creatures but not even he knows if its true oddball: a recent commision that hunter got to make a palisman in the shape of a toy bought from the owl lady years ago, no one involved knows what it is but everyone loves them the same

under the cut is me rambling abt the designs (plus bonus drawing)

idk if its noticeable but i wanted like... their hats to resemble their associated symbols (dipper with the pine tree - pine tree shaped like tassels??? mabel with the shooting star - long ribbon with a star charm on the end)

added constellations to dipper and glitter meant to mimic star clusters to mabels dress... i like associating space with the twins, also wanted to keep their core colours

bill's ink wand/cane is made out of birch! since he's often associated with birch trees in the show .. also the little eyes i thoguht would be neat. also idk if they make ink wands this big but i imagine he's very precise with it ??

the leaves are birch leaves... silhouette is meant to mimic a triangle.... just a ton of eye imagery here. the tassels of his hat is meant to mimic his triangle forms little hands LOL which leads me to this doodle

often doesnt use his own two hands and relies on these tendril-like little guys... to do gestures, to apprehend people, etc. i got inspired by engendale and his leeches kind of

Hi! we're Niya and Charley, a bisexual Russian woman and lesbian American enby living in Batumi, Georgia, for the past two years. We've been in a loving relationship for 8 year now.

Our original plan was for Niya to get a fiancée Visa to move to the US, but that was placed on hold indefinitely due to the pandemic and a certain Russian territorial conflict making it difficult for Russians to obtain a visa through embassies. At the time, Georgia seemed like the best alternative, and, as charming as our stay has been for the most part, it is increasingly becoming unsafe for LGBT couples. A new bill was passed trying to make "LGBT propaganda" illegal, which in Niya's experience as a Russian, means "anything they don't like, they can claim is illegal". While Georgia's president does plan to veto this bill, it has been stirring up anger and unnecessary attention to queer people regardless and led to a spike in discriminatory violence already. Even before things got this bad, Charley has had rocks thrown at them, screamed at, and been refused entry to public places for wearing normal feminine clothes.

We are currently looking into moving to Mexico, as that is another place both of us have easy access to a half year visa. Moving countries has never been an easy decision, but we've done it before, and with your help, we can do it again, for the sake of our safety.

Help Mahmoud and his family escape Gaza & continue education

Hello, I am Mahmoud Jihad. I was an outstanding university student with excellent grades and I had a house. But now, because of the genocide, I have nothing and my family but a cloth tent to shelter me , I lost my house and laptop and my university are destroyed.

My old is 21, My life has been dramatically altered by the ongoing conflict in my homeland. I am currently living as a displaced person in Deir al-Balah after losing my home and everything I knew in Khan Yunis.

I was once a dedicated student studying Information Technology at Gaza University, filled with hope and dreams for my future. However, everything changed when my university was bombed, leading to the suspension of classes and depriving me of the education I valued. The airstrikes also destroyed my home and my personal computer, cutting me off from essential resources and connections.

Today, I find myself in a temporary tent in a displacement camp, living without basic necessities. For the past 10 months, we have been deprived of water, electricity, and access to nutritious food. My father is unwell, and my brother is in treatment, leaving me to bear the heavy responsibility of caring for my family amid these trying circumstances. I long to rebuild our life in Khan Yunis, but our current situation makes that seem almost impossible.

Despite these overwhelming challenges, I refuse to let go of my dreams. Education is my pathway to a better life and a chance to help my family and community heal. However, I need your help to leave Gaza and pursue further education in a safer environment where I can gain the skills necessary to support my family and contribute to rebuilding our home.

Here, I lived my entire childhood and studied my whole life in this room, which has now become rubble. This house evokes in my soul images of cherished memories and loved ones. However, when this sanctuary turns into ruins, it becomes a nightmare. I lived my whole life in my home, where every corner held a memory, but after a catastrophe, everything I knew vanished in an instant.

As I searched through the debris, I sought to find small traces of my past—things that held immense personal value. My once vibrant study room is now in ruins, filled with twisted metal and dust.

I created a short video documenting my emotional journey through the destruction, hoping to convey the profound sense of loss I felt. Despite the devastation, I cling to the belief that memories endure. The physical home may collapse, but its spirit lives on through the memories it contained. I am determined to rebuild my life, as hope empowers us to persevere in the face of adversity.
