<3 this one is just notes but i love to think about it!! does what it says on the tin really but here's some of my notes:

Harrow and Gideon grew up together and are childhood frenemies, and each of them is secretly very online in the same fandom: Harrow is a ficcer, Gideon doesn’t write but she reads, leaves incredible comments and writes meta, and eventually is Harrow’s beta. Harrow keeps her shit on lock, no connections between her online life and her irl; Gideon does too, only because she’s worried Harrow will spoil her safe place. Online, they have been friends through multiple fandoms, because Harrow irl picks up on what Gideon is into and checks it out without ever revealing that she’s into it, they like all the same things somehow.

thinking now about how i would resolve this tension, because i'm not actually the biggest fan of miscommunication/lack of information plotlines... i might have them get closer in real life through some dramatic circumstance as they do in canon, and harrow admit in a quiet sharing moment that when she's on the computer all the time or scribbling in notebooks she's actually writing fic, and gideon being like no shit i love to read fic, and then they figure out that they've actually been friends this whole time and didn't know it!!! and then probably they are in love jkldfsjklfdskjldfs

so my vision for this one is also a modern au story in the present mixed with flashbacks; the storyline in the present is about team 69 now, and the glaring absence of dulcie who has died (because you know how i like sad things) and the flashbacks are about camilla and egg palamedes in their first year at a women's college, figuring themselves out and meeting dulcie who is a senior the year they enter and therefore one of the coolest people on earth. it's called their totally normal 20s because they both think being joined at the hip and multiple flavors of queer and trying hard to be in a mostly chaste throuple with an actively dying girl is extremely normal, and they are correct. also i think it was your idea that pal is diabetic?? and that's in my notes for this also ljkdfskljdfkjldf as well as "graduation tent thing" which is referencing an event from my life and so will remain incoherent to anyone else until i maybe write this fic

well we simply must have pearl's hedonist 20s and vibrant pussy culture.

these are kind of two opposite ends of the spectrum so good picks! pearl's hedonist 20s is currently 21,252 words long and is actually a sequel to this fic by @jeejyboard and vibrant pussy culture is something i have notes on and can picture but have never written a word of.

pearl's hedonist 20s is (unsurprisingly) a bunch of flashbacks about pearl's sexual and romantic encounters in her 20s and also about the day after jeej's fic and the hot mess pearl is in the present. i'm realizing now that i started writing this several years ago and in the interim i have become the same age as hot mess pearl. here's a lil snip from one of the chapters in the present:

“Bring it back?” Rose says, fishing her keys out of a pocket and opening the trunk. “Won’t the mechanic do that stuff?” She tugs a duffel bag, one of those soft quilted paisley ones, out of the trunk and slings it over her shoulder. “I might have to make a few trips if I need to empty the trunk out completely…” “I am a mechanic,” Pearl says, scuffing the damp earth between the front wheels and debating how filthy she’ll get if she lays down to get a look underneath. “I thought you were an aerospace-engineer-turned-sustainable-energy-something,” Rose says. Her flower petal mouth is pursed again, a bemused twist, but there’s a hint of genuine suspicion in the way her eyes flick from Pearl to the car and back. “I’ve been a mechanic. Also a chef, and an au pair. I was almost a professional dancer. It’s a good bet I can fix your car back at the house. Pop the hood? I’ll take a look.” Rose is staring at her, and Pearl resists the smug urge to preen. An up-and-down look now, that lingers across her shoulders. Assessing her posture? “A professional dancer! Ballet?” “Tap,” Pearl corrects, and Rose puffs a surprised little laugh. “Really? You just—you stand so—” she straightens, drops her shoulders. It pushes her chest out; her cardigan is only closed by one button, and it strains. 

vibrant pussy culture is about pearls in era 3 being really into their vulvas in sexual and nonsexual ways lkjdfskjldf here are some bits of my notes on it

Pearls have unique vulvas and love to look at and compare each other’s. They have a multitude of slang names for them: scallop (high class), oyster, clam (dirty), conch, etc. Shell is a no-go because of the reef. They have paint and sip classes where they make cocktails, strip, and paint each other’s pussies, sometimes horny, sometimes not. Beep has an art show in little homeworld with a bunch of georgia o’keefe style paintings of pearl puss, and the pearls all know what they are but nobody else does. They note who likes their paintings best and those gems are the next sexual conquests. They have group chats full of nudes and compliments to each other, and photos of things that look like each other’s pussies. The only non-pearls to know about this are amethyst, who stepped in it early on by trying to use “shell” as slang and then was put right by pearl, now only uses “clam” and “clam chowder”, and rhodonite’s ruby because rhodonite visits for the art show to prove that pearls really are Like This. Pearls with dicks are mixed into this too but also they have their own subculture and their own slang (geoduck).
