dramatic, poetic, cryptic catholic guilt makes for odd poetry and a strong sense of doom

praying doesn’t fix anything.
your sympathies don’t help anyone.
thoughts without actions are useless.
raise your voice and protest for change, reach out a hand and lift someone up, pick up a tool and help rebuild. turn your passive thoughts, prayers, and sympathies into something productive, tangible, and helpful.

my 2025 prediction is that a group of conservative Catholics will attempt to break away from the Catholic Church because Jesus is “to weak”, a minority, or “sounds like a homosexual”

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but for things to get better in this world, we can’t wait for a hero to come along. We can’t rely on a massive change to sweep us up. We have to build from the ground up, and that means you have to do little inconvenient things in order to start making change. You have to expect little to no gratification. You have to remember it’s not just about you. But in the end, what helps everyone will also help you.

“The apocalypse didn't happen overnight. The world didn't end in a satisfying climax of explosive special effects. It was slow. It was boring. It was one little thing at a time. One moral compromise, one abandoned ideal, one more justified injustice. No dramatic wave of destruction sweeping across the world, just scattered spots of rot forming throughout the decades, seemingly isolated incidents until the moment they all merged.”
Isaac Marion

Hours pile up like paper
Empty, a white whisper
Letters resistant, an army of errors
Paragraphs once screaming gone silent
Maybe there's ink left in me
Endeavoring just to survive

“Imagine that you are creating a fabric of human destiny with the object of making men happy in the end, giving them peace and rest at last. Imagine that you are doing this but that it is essential and inevitable to torture to death only one tiny creature…in order to found that edifice on its unavenged tears. Would you consent to be the architect on those conditions? Tell me. Tell the truth.”
— Fyodor Dostoevsky, The Brothers Karamazov (via slobbering)

I often think that humanity is on the verge of self-destruction. The worst part is I find it beautiful.
we think we are immortal, but if angels fall, why can’t we?

we craft our own gods of blood and bone and beg them for forgiveness.
all the while we wonder why their sins look so like our own.
