I didn't understand at first why the word "man" impacted me so hardly when I first read these dialogue between Kuroo and Tsukishima. Calling someone a man and a woman, well, it's not that big of a deal, at the end of the day. It's just a fact.

That is though, if you haven't grown up with that man that has your back yet is ahead of you at the same time.

Tsukki has known Tadashi forever. And he has seen, especially that first year at Karasuno, how greatly Yamaguchi has grown. Yamaguchi himself admits it, that he never believed that someone who he used to think as a "scaredy-cat" would be able to stand on a national-level stadium without feeling afraid.

Tadashi has grown, and Kei can see that even probably more than we can as readers. Because we know Tadashi from the first chapters, who was fighting to surpass his fears and to make himself worthy of a position in his team.

But Tsukki has known that kid who was bullied at school. The one who complimented his shoes. The one who chose to go to Karasuno. The one who knows his family so well that he's on first-name basis with his older brother.

But in his eyes, that kid has grown up to be a "man".

Romantic or not, tell me that that isn't just pure admiration, respect and thus, love.
