I love how Zuko's perception of the gaang must have done a complete 360 after joining them like
Zuko, before joining: this is a group of extremely skilled benders, i must be prepared for any possible situation when i run into them
Zuko, right after joining: wait a minute these aren't trained warriors they're bunch of goofy kids that have somehow survived without adult supervision all this time, i shouldn't have been so worried
Zuko, seeing Katara bloodbend: what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck what the fuck what-

My little cousin (15) finished atla yesterday, y'all know the drill by now but here's her opinion of the characters after the s3 finale
Aang: "that's MY Avatar. The GOAT."
Katara: "amazing stunning wonderful beautiful powerful badass gorgeous talented-" this went on for a bit
Sokka: "the creators can't hide that he's bisexual."
Toph: "i couldn't get over the feral chihuahua energy i'm sorry"
Zuko: "... fine he's hot now happy?"
Azula: "i mean if my brother came in to ruin my coronation i would try to kill him and his little girlfriend too so"
Suki: "i wish i could kill people with a fan but alas i can only kill them the non cool way" Me: "the non cool way?" Her: "just stabbing."
Mai: "she deserves so much better than Zuko"
Ty Lee: "she joined the Kyoshi warriors, a group comprised of only women.... interesting."
Uncle Iroh: "i was really expecting the old man to bite it ngl i'm happy he stuck around tho"
Firelord Ozai: "we waited two seasons for his reveal and he's just some guy." Me: "yea that's kinda the point, that he's just a normal man" Her: "i could run him over with my bike."
The Old Masters: "the Okra bus got lost in Ba Sing Se lol" (for context okra is a belgian seniors organisation, like for the elderly to go on trips and such)

I've been watching life on our planet this weekend and i got so immersed into the show that at a certain point i thought "wow incredible, how did they manage to get such a close shot of a t-rex?" and then i had to pause and sit with my stupid ass for a minute because i remembered it's cgi and dinosaurs went extinct long before the invention of cameras

Some people said they need to make all of them their book 3 versions but honestly that's not even my issue, my problem is that the outfits they put them in don't match the timeline, like book 1 Aang with his little tunic posted up besides Zuko with his book 3 dark anime boy emo haircut doesn't make sense in my head. They need to be all book 1, all book 2 or all book 3! And honestly, i would prefer book 3 bc everyone kinda had a glowup in that season lol
It just sucks that they always put Zuko in the book 3 outfit specifically because he's more marketable that way bc ppl will be thirsting over him (still just a 16yr old in those pics btw so it feels rlly weird and objectifying). I've also noticed Katara is usually in the book 1 fit bc that one is more "feminine" and sleek compared to book 2 and book 3, where her outfit is more comfortable and suited for combat.
Like i get that Aang's tunic is supposedly more recognizable than the book 3 off shoulder fit but imo the book 3 fit just looks way cooler, like he's done playing around, y'know? Especially with the scar showing in the back. So if we're gonna put book 3 Zuko bc he's more marketable that way, i'd argue for then adding book 3 Aang at least bc personally i found that one better than the tunic (looks wise at least).
My biggest pet peeve is when they make official atla merch/pictures/games etc where they put Katara and Aang in their book 1 outfits, Sokka & Toph in their book 2 outfits - tho Sokka's is sometimes still book 1 - and for some reason (we all know the reason) they always ALWAYS put Zuko in his book 3 outfit.

I have returned from my cave once again to bring you another weak, unfinished and silly redesign of the Horizon AU fits. This idea will never leave my mind I guess... Decided they'd be adult gaang cuz why not.

I find it incredibly confusing that they cast someone for Jeong Jeong when this guy wasn't even in their version of the first season? How in the hell are they going to integrate him this late into the story without the context surrounding his character?
Tumblr media
The whole point of Jeong Jeong's character/episode is to show how power, when unchecked, will ultimately always destroy. Fire is wild and dangerous, and because of that Jeong Jeong hates his own abilities. He's such an interesting take on a firebender, the first deserter of the army, the one who taught Zhao what he knows and essentially turned him into the monster he became, who has such internalized hatred for what he is and what his nation represents.
And then, there's the firebending masters episode, where everything Jeong Jeong projected onto Aang (the fear of fire because it destroys) gets turned on its head. The sun warriors love who they are because in their eyes fire is life, it's art, it's warmth. Jeong Jeong, having been raised in a dictatorship at war has a completely different perspective on fire than the sun warriors, who were raised without the hatred and propaganda the Fire Nation instilled on its citizens.
Like are they planning on just plunking him in there without any of that story mentioned? Because that would really be a disservice to his character in my opinion

Hey, what are your top 10 favorite episodes of Avatar and/or top 10 underrated episodes?
I'll put a list below!
Top 10 (in no particular order)
Sozin's Comet part 4: Avatar Aang
The Crossroads of Destiny
The Fortuneteller
The Boy In The Iceberg
Winter Solstice part 2: Avatar Roku
The Storm
The Avatar and the Fire Lord
The Day of Black Sun part 1: The Invasion
The Day of Black Sun part 2: The Eclipse
The Firebending Masters
The most underrated episodes (not a top 10, but a few where i'm thinking about how much attention the fandom gives these episodes compared to how much attention i think they deserve!)
The Runaway: my reason for this episode being underrated is that it's a very important episode for character development between Katara and Toph but also for character exploration. We get to learn how Katara really feels about being the "mom" of the group, and I really think the fandom needs to pay more attention to this because often they like to ignore Katara's own feelings to push her even further into the mom friend narrative (often to then pair her up with "dad friend" zuko even tho zuko isn't even remotely a dad friend, and also often to push the narrative that katara is like a mom to aang and therefore kataang shouldn't be a thing, which is objectively wrong.)
The Fortuneteller: now again, this is one of my favorite episodes but it's also underrated in my opinion. It's not just a kataang setup episode. It explores the bond Katara and Aang have built so far, how well they work together. But it also shows how destiny isn't set in stone just because it's been foretold, and how you have the power to change your own destiny. These are great messages! These are things young people need to hear!
The Southern Airtemple: I think this episode gets overshadowed very easily. Not only because it's at the very beginning of the show, but also because it's kind of wedged in between the first two-parter that started the series off with a bang and then the Kyoshi Warrior episode. This episode is devastating to me. This is where we come to find out how much Aang has truly lost. And Aang's own reaction, the Avatar State, is incredibly valid, but then Aang's feelings get pushed to the side again because he doesn't cry about it anymore afterwards, which then leads to a lot of people thinking Aang was overreacting in the Northern Airtemple when the people were destroying a part of his culture.
The Awakening: my oh my what an episode. I don't necessarily think this one is underrated, but I think it needs more recognition on how well it sets up the start of the final season of the show. Everything we've ever been used to in this show is turned on it's head! Our heroes lost and are hiding away on an enemy ship while Aang recovers, Zuko is home and his title has been restored, we see him interact with his father for the first time, we see his father's face for the first time too, and the juxtaposition between how we've imagined Ozai as the show's Big Bad with how ordinary Ozai looks, it's just *chef's kiss*. Then we have Aang struggling to accept failure, to accept that his body isn't yet ready to be going back into action, to accept that he needs help! And then we haven't even gotten to the part where Aang says "I need to redeem myself, I need my honor back" and they SWITCH TO ZUKO or the part where Yue gives Aang encouraging words and helps him to shore by raising the tides (we finally SEE her use her moon powers). Yeah it's such a great episode
