Research methods are approaches that social scientists use for investigating the answers to questions (Conley, 2017, pg. 44). Some questions and information i was curious in researching was the constance of cyberbullying, and different groups fighting to help with the large mass of online bullying among children and adults.
This research conducted shows the major problems associated with our current virtual worlds like video games, social media and mass communication all at our fingertips. In today’s age, many people are beginning to “hide behind the screen” and act as if the internet is another world for people. In this article, What is Cyberbullying written and published by stopbullying.com, they describe how cyberbully is occurring and what are measure to watch for when you suspect someone is a victim of internet bullying. This article did not directly have any statistics or specific studies conducted, however there were links to other sites that listed different studies conducted. This website makes a strong point when they state that “The content an individual shares online – both their personal content as well as any negative, mean, or hurtful content – creates a kind of permanent public record of their views, activities, and behavior.” Many people don’t want to believe the fact of nothing is actually gone after you delete it. I personally was defiant on this for such a long time, until I read the research and realized how scary the internet really can be.
Anytime an individual post or shares something on social media, I is there forever, no matter if you delete or remove something for the general eye to see. This is a large factor for the start of many cyber bullying cases. According to the example depicted in this article, a student posted a photo of another student with inappropriate titles attached and vulgar language, however since the student knew he was going to get in trouble from posting it, he believed he could delete the post before he thought anyone saw it... but that wasn’t true. Another student saw the post and screenshotted it, which allowed him to save it to his phone and reported it. Even though this student deleted the post, it was still filtering somewhere. This is just one very minute example of how nothing is actually gone when deleted.

Reflection
Throughout this course, I was able to connect many different topics that we learned to my career choice. To begin, the criminal justice system is a rather important part of sociology, as to the incarceration rates and the statistics of minorities and majority. One video in particular we watched during module 10: race and ethnicity “What are the odd’s you’ll go to prison?”. This video gave a clear and precise insight on the realization that jails and prisons are overflowing with what is defined as the “minority race”. In today’s criminal justice system, our nation is defined as unfair and corrupt. For example, if a white male, and a black male commit the same crime here in the United States, the black male will most likely have a more severe punishment than the white male.
Another connection I made from this course, to my career was Module 7: Social Class. In this unit, we discussed different wage gaps, and the way modern society of conformed with materialistic items and money. Those of a high social class, of money, power, and wealth are seen differently than those of the poverty threshold. In the criminal justice system, many time your charges or sentence can and will be based off of your social class (as started before with our unfair and corrupt system), along with most who are incarcerated are individuals below he poverty line. These individual are seen generally seen as uneducated individuals, however as we know is not always true.

Advice
Welcome future Sociology 201 students! In the course I personally recommend to work ahead as much as possible as this is a very fast pace, accelerated course. Unlike normal 15 week semesters, this course is condensed into 3 weeks, plus your finals week. Even though it is a shorter than most semesters, you still are required to complete and learn the same amount of materials, which can be difficult. As a student who has 3 jobs, along 3 with balancing the holidays over the winter, I still managed to find time to compete this course... however, some days were more difficult than others.
One major piece of advice I would give future students is complete your discussion posts as soon as you possibly can, as they can be the most time consuming. My helpful tip i always used my reminders on my phone. I would complete my post early, usually before others got the chance to post, however since I kept working ahead, I would add a reminder 2 days before the post is due to go back and respond to at least two other classmates post. That way I never forgot, and it allows everyone else to post, so you can have a larger choice of posts to respond to.

Introduction
Hello, and welcome to my Tumblr page for Sociology 201 and HACC. This is my last course required for graduation, however I did walk at graduation during the Fall 2018 commencement ceremony. I am currently employed at a local sheriff’s office in my hometown, as a starter into my career of law enforcement. This course is a wonderful insight in to different perspectives of my field of work, which also helps with keeping me interested in the lessons being taught. My current dream jobs are K-9 law enforcement, particularly cadaver work, and/or forensic investigations. As i am graduating with an Associates in Criminal Justice, i am currently in the process of continuing my education at Bloomsburg University for Digital Forensic Science. This degree will allow me to do investigation in cyber crimes like cyber terrorism, and identity theft, along with investigating and logging information for evidence seized during investigations.
In my personal time, I enjoying spending time with my friends and family, and of course my two beagles, Bella and Rascal. I also like to be outdoors. Some of my favorite activities outside is hiking, boating, jet skiing, and going for bike rides. I also love taking my Jeep up into the mountains for rides, and riding my four wheeler’s.
