peter was having a really good day. this really good day consisted of him passing his exams at uni, an old lady gave him a croissant for free and it was surprisingly good, and the walk to work wasn’t windy at all. his manager had been a bit timid and more cautious than usual, but peter didn’t see a reason to be concerned.

a man with deliciously great hair and a strange styled beard entered the store, and peter would normally drool if it weren’t for the fact that he had to be quick with everything if he wanted to meet with his aunt in time for dinner.

“where is quentin at?” the man asked, clearly expecting an answer but peter didn’t quite understand the question. his manager from behind the counter had snuck into the back as soon as this man came into the store.

peter raised an eyebrow, unamused and rather irritated. “we don’t sell anything that’s called quentin.” the man sighed, reaching into his pockets and attempting to be intimidating. “is there a certain way you like your coffee, or…”

a gun was then pointed at peter’s head. “do you know who i am? and if you don’t tell me where quentin is, i will have a bullet put through that pretty head of yours before you can even have a chance to mutter another fucking thing about coffee.”

it was at that point that peter realized just who this was, unimpressed that tony stark out of all people in the world had a problem with a boy like him. or rather a problem with quentin, if it mattered. “i, like, have no idea who quentin is. if he works here, i don’t know all of my coworkers names since we don’t all work during the same hours. my manager is here, though. mr. beck. not sure if he’s as important as quentin, but he could probably get you somewhere. are you sure you don’t want coffee, because i—”

“you never shut up, do you?” it was more of an insult, but tony didn’t seem pissed. he actually seemed more entertained than anything. “mr. beck’s first name is quentin, actually.” tony lowered the gun with a smirk. “you mind if i go in the back to look for him?”

“last time i checked, you have the gun. so feel free to do anything while you’re here.”

“does doing anything include you?”

“take me to dinner and meet my aunt first, jeez.”

“last time i checked, i have the gun. i should feel free to do anything while i’m here.”

peter being a new bartender at a bar tony visits about five times a week, and peter is the first thing tony notices when he walks through the doors. tony takes it upon himself to go the extra mile when talking to him.

there’s an instant connection, but peter ends up cutting him off unlike his coworkers. tony argues that he’s not that drunk, causing peter to roll his eyes like he’s heard it before. this strikes an idea in tony’s mind however, and the next time he goes to the bar he simply orders a coke just so he can stay on peter’s good side.

“you’re not drinking you’re usual awful whiskey, i see.”

“and you got a haircut, i see,” tony shares a genuine grin with the boy as he takes a sip of his coke. “i think i prefer your hair longer.”

“i think i’d prefer it if you shut up and just drank your damn soda, stark.”

High school au where like popular bad boy tony and innocent little Petey are like besties and everyone’s confused why cause they’re like total opposites

tony wasn’t known for having actual friends. he hung out with people, sure, got high at parties every now and then and joked around a little bit with everybody there. but it was obvious he didn’t have much interest in the conversations at hand.

then peter moved to the town and started attending the school. he was in almost all of the same classes as tony, and all tony could fixate on was the back of peter’s head when he sat behind him in physics. it was his last year of school there, or it was supposed to be, but after talking to peter for the first time he managed to convince his dad to hold off on going to mit. everyone noticed the shift in his attitude, and everyone noticed he was entirely different around peter and peter only.

he’d hold peter’s books on the way to class, listened to peter ramble on about movies and the marching band. students would eavesdrop when the two of them walked by, confused when they heard peter and tony genuinely laughing.

peter usually wore colorful sweaters, white or beige pants to match, a drastic difference to the all black clothing tony had on. it was difficult for everyone to tell if they had something going on romantically, but rumors were spreading day by day and they eventually caught up to peter.

“are you and stark, like, dating?” a girl named mary-jane asked him. peter’s eyes widened, and he stumbled in his steps when he saw tony watching and waiting for him at his own locker. “i mean, it’s totally cool if you are, i was just wondering because he doesn’t really go for people like you.”

“people like me?” peter raised an eyebrow, now fascinated by the idea that tony might’ve had a crush on him of all people.

“well, you know, you’re you, and tony’s…tony. i guess i’m just surprised that you managed to tame him, is all.”

“tame him? i don’t—”

“pete, you’re taking forever. c’mon, i’m bored,” tony interrupted the conversation, glaring at the girl in front of them. “if you don’t mind, we have somewhere to be.”

peter looked up at him as tony guided him through the halls with an arm hovering over peter’s shoulder. “do you act this way with anybody else?”

“only people named peter, lovebug.”

“call me that again and i’ll rip your ear off.”

unlike tony, steve is a gentleman at heart and is very polite with his actions and words. steve doesn’t trust banks at all because he’s an old man but the rest of the team gets him to open up an account, just for him to see if he likes it

enter peter, giddy and and ecstatic to see captain america walk in and right up to his desk and he almost hates his boss for forcing this upon him when he’s having a bad hair day

steve shakes his hand and everything, ofc he finds peter cute but he isn’t going to do or say anything that could get him kicked out/slapped. peter has him fill out a form, explaining the terms and conditions and steve’s following every word he says to the tee

they’re having such a good and relaxing time together that steve scrunches his nose when he asks, “how do i know you guys won’t steal my money?”

he earns a chuckle though, peter shaking his head, “mr. stark uses us, if we were to take any of it we would have already. besides, it’s more dangerous to carry around a bunch of dollar bills these days than it is to carry a card.”

“how so?” steve never considered it, because 1. he’s captain america and 2. he’s captain america

“well, when i’m out patrolling—” peter tenses up, looking up from the piece of paper in front of them, steve furrowing his eyebrows in return.

“you’re a cop, too? this a side gig or something?”

“no, no, i’m not a cop. just forget i, like, said anything. for both of our sakes. what i meant to say is that i hear all over the news about somebody using cash, and people around them take notice of that, is all. spider-man, for example, had to help this old lady out after she paid at a floral shop and somebody ran off with her purse.”

“right,” steve clicked his tongue, “spider-man.”

he definitely felt more comfortable knowing spider-man was one of the people watching over his money as he signed his name on the contract.
