Rob Fox brought his newly purchased lovely samba down to have a few things tweaked, Firstly we sorted for him was the suspension so that it can now handle being fully ladened with people as Rob hires his bus's out for weddings. With the ride height tweaked and stiffer shocks installed, there's no scrubbing in sight, Then we sorted the steering out by centring the steering box and tracking it up. It now drives as well as it looks, we then moved the number plate off the towel rail onto the bumper as Rob prefers this look, with a pair of new wiper disengagers he's ready for his first wedding which is in February. The Splitsmiths mobile bar is finally out of paint and ready for building up and kitting out ready for those thirsty customers! We're loving the step outside the norm on the paint with a really dark and crisp black offset by a bright and heavy metallic gold, you should see it when the sun hits it!!! The splitsmiths mobile bar will be available for hire for functions, if you're interested in getting in touch, they are contactable via Facebook Split Smiths or www.splitsmiths.co.uk. James and Elizabeth's 1952 Zwitter came in for a good once over, and sorting out a few niggling issues. What we did was : - Remove Enigine and gearbox for oil leak fixing. - Front drums skimmed to remove scores from previous shoes - Send all parts for powdercoat - Steam clean the old wax off the arches and underside of vehicle ready for new wax. - Apply Dinitrol wax coatings throughout vehicle including cavities. - Rebuild gearbox with all powder coated bits and build to finish with one piece boots. - Sort engine oil leaks out - Re-torque heads and service - Tune and set up engine - Set choke stop as choke was getting wedged in barrel - New fuel line/filter from tank to fuel pump - X4 Michelin XAS FF with inner tubes - All wheels balanced - Laser wheel tracking - Sort out engine bay wiring and neaten up - Reinstall engine and gearbox and test drive - MOT Now its driving a treat for James & Elizabeth to enjoy in the good weather, it's also looking the part to on those Michelin tyres. Pete's early bay came into us for MOT, Service, Carb setup and tune and fitting a new ignition barrel/steering column refresh. Pete's van no longer needs a screwdriver to start it and with the new steering coupling is feeling a lot less vague. Lorri's new purchase which she bought through us as we completed a pre purchase inspection for Lorri who lives in Kent while the van was local to absolute. So with the pre inspection complete we negotiated the price on behalf of Lorri. We then completed the work picked up in the pre purchase inspection so that the van was in tip top condition and ready to relive the memories Lorri has of her dad owning one, We completed : - Full service - Machine polish inside out - Original fibreglass cabinets polished up - Checking and making safe of all appliances ready for first trip It's a well sorted lovely camper now ready to create future family memories, and we hope Lorri has fun doing so. We don't get many pickups in at absolute, so we couldn't resist a quick photo shoot with Gaz and Dot's 1956 single and our very own 1954 barndoor single. Gaz and Dot's 56 pickup came into us for a good look over the engine bay and also sorting out a few issues along the way. This pickup is packing a punch a 2.4 litre type 4 on twin 44's. When it came in the engine wasn't idling or preforming, steering was notchy and gears where a guess at best. We have replaced/refurbished - - Brand new 44 Webers - New linkage - New steering pin machined to be shorter with all new bushes - Machined brake pedal bushes and pin - Rear brakes gone through and greased - Axle gaiters - Sealed rear wheel bearings - New bug tech shifter - re-bushed gear selector rod - New accelerator pedal link to make the pedal more user friendly - Line lock moved onto a bracket on the dash for easy application! With all this it now drives brilliantly and there's definitely enough power there to make you smile!!! Watch this space the pickups had a race can you guess which one won? Katherine's 1966 pearlescent beetle came into us after Katherine had been building it for a few years and was struggling to get the engine to idle and to sort out the stance. It was time for a few upgrades - - 4'' beam with drop spindles. - x4 new top quality ball joints. - x2 new shortened trackrods. - x4 new top quality track rod ends. - adjustable spring plates. - x4 new tyres. - Both bumpers sorted out as incorrect hangers where used previously. - Custom rear speaker/parcel shelf with hidden 6x9's and covered with acoustic matting. - New 1641cc well balanced and set up on twin 36 dellorto's. - New tinware and oil breather lines - Vintage speed stainless steel sports system. - 100 mile fault free running ready for Katherine to enjoy. We really hope Katherine's gets to enjoy her beetle and we hope to see you soon after you've covered the 500 miles. Stephen's 1966 Mango that we did a body off restoration for him, Is now ready for him to enjoy the last little bit of sunshine there is!!! Colette's wedding hire splitscreen came into us for a service and completion of some advisories from her previous visit. We also added some bling to the vehicle in the form of Porsche pattern Fuchs X5 new brakes all round with a upgrade at the front with dual circuit master cylinder and fellows speed shop disc brake conversion. We also narrowed the rear IRS conversion so that you could fit the centre cap in the alloys, instead of a massive big nut.
