Not to be a THAT ex but I seriously feel like I’m never going to move on. I mean seriously it’s been almost three years and I still ache. It’s weird because I’ve been in polyamorous relationships before and I do well in them, love them really, but after him it just all seems so pointless. I’m starting to think no one else will love me as loudly as he did. Anywho I’m gonna go reread a book babes😭

39. “I forgot I was a single parent.” totally eddie-coded haha 😅
First: thank you SO much for all the support and love on my drabbles. You're such a sweetheart 🩵 Second: you chose fantastic prompts and I can't wait to dive into them!
"Hey," Buck calls out from the kitchen, "I thought we were hanging out on Friday." "We are?" Eddie replies, picking a movie and placing the remote on the coffee table before he wanders into the kitchen. He finds Buck standing at the counter, the pile of mail Eddie had been avoiding in front of him and already half sorted. "I told you I'd get to it." "Most of it's junk anyways." Buck waves him off, "And it's okay if we need to reschedule. I just didn't realize you were busy." "I'm not." Eddie frowns, "What are you talking about? We're hanging out. We're checking out that new vegan place you wanted to try. Chris is going to his friend's so we don't have to worry about getting back and dealing with downtown traffic." Buck is staring down at a piece of paper in his hand though, seemingly only half listening to Eddie. "You...want to do that..." "Yes? Buck, what are you looking at?" Eddie reaches for the paper, skims it and rolls his eyes, tossing it onto the counter, "That's so stupid. Obviously I'm not going." "Why would you not go?" Buck asks, finally looking at Eddie and watching him as he goes to the fridge to grab some beers. "Because it's a single parents event for the PTA." Eddie scrunches his nose up, popping the cap on one bottle then the next. "I don't need to go." "Eddie." "I'd be an odd duck out, Buck." Eddie laughs, heading back to the living room, "I still don't know why Sheila gave me the flyer." "Eddie." Buck has followed him, standing at the edge of the rug, "It's an event for single parents at Christopher's school." "I know." Eddie nods, placing Buck's bottle onto the coffee table and taking a seat on the couch, "Hence why I'm not going. It'd be weird, wouldn't it?" Buck stares at him. And keeps staring. "Eddie. It's an event for single parents." He stares again. Eddie stares back. "Eddie, what are you?" Eddie suddenly feels incredibly stupid. "Oh my god." "There it is." Buck mutters as he snatches up his beer and falls onto the couch beside Eddie. "I forgot I was a single parent.” "Clearly." Buck snorts, taking a sip, "How? You've been single for a while now, dude." Oh good, Eddie's not the only stupid one in the room. "Because of you." Buck chokes lightly, "Excuse me?!" Eddie twists in his seat, staring wide eyed at Buck. "I forgot I was a single parent because I'm not. Because I have you. Because we've been raising Chris. Because...because I'm in love with you." "I..." Buck blinks over at him. "Oh my god." "Yeah. I..." Buck shakes his head, "This isn't..." "Oh my god." Eddie realizes he's being rejected. "I'm so sorry, Buck, I—" Whatever was about to be said is cut off by Buck's mouth. Eddie can taste the hazy IPA he's just sipped on Buck's tongue, mingling with the chocolate of the chocolate chips he'd stolen from the baking cupboard. It's an interesting mixture but Eddie finds himself thoroughly enjoying it. "I'm in love with you too." Buck says when he pulls away. "And I really don't want you going to that single parents thing." "Never planned to." Eddie replies, pulling Buck back in.

Eddie: Technically, this is plan P.
Chimney : Plan P? Is there a plan M?

Chim: Our Buck? You’re into Evan Buckley? Ravi: The drill sergeant from hell? The chainsaw maniac? Chim: The power czar? The clipboard tyrant? Hen: The firehose? The chainsaw wielding menace? Eddie: Yup, all of those. Any thoughts? Hen: And prayers, Eddie. Many, many prayers.

Cuddles and Love Confessions
Buck sat in the dimly lit room, his eyes glued to the flickering screen of his laptop. The numbers and codes blurred before him, a never-ending dance of digits that seemed to mock his fatigue. His shoulders slumped and his neck ached from hours of unrelenting tension. He rubbed his eyes, trying to ignore the sandpaper feel of his eyelids and the persistent whisper of sleep tugging at his consciousness.
In the quiet of the early morning, the only company he had was the rhythmic ticking of the clock on the wall and the faint hum of the fridge in the kitchen. The house was still, the rest of the world seemingly frozen in time as he wrestled with the final touches of a project that had consumed his every waking moment. His fingers danced over the keyboard, typing out solutions to problems that had eluded him for days.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, a comforting scent that usually invigorated him. But tonight, it was just another layer in the cacophony of stimuli his exhausted brain struggled to process. He took a sip, the bitter warmth jolting him slightly, and stared out the window. The streetlights cast a soft glow on the rain-soaked pavement, the occasional car passing by a silent testament to the world outside his bubble of exhaustion.
A sudden knock at the door startled him, echoing through the stillness like a gunshot. Evan's heart pounded in his chest as he looked at the clock. It was 3 AM. Who was here so early? He hesitantly approached the door, peering through the peephole into the night. There, silhouetted against the porch light, was Eddie, his best friend and fellow insomniac, looking as tired as he felt.
Eddie held up a bag of greasy fast food, a peace offering. "I brought sustenance," he murmured, his voice thick with sleep. Buck couldn't help but smile. This was their unspoken pact, a nocturnal rendezvous fueled by caffeine and junk food. They understood each other's battles with sleep like no one else could.
They stumbled into the living room, the plastic bag rustling with each step. Buck's couch was a rumpled mess of blankets and pillows, a testament to his repeated attempts to find comfort in the arms of Morpheus. Eddie kicked off his shoes and plopped down next to him, the weight of his body causing the cushions to sigh in relief.
"You look like you're about to pass out," Eddie said, his voice laced with concern as he handed him a warm burger. "You should get some rest."
He took a bite, the salty flavor exploding in his mouth, a brief respite from the bitter taste of his exhaustion. He glanced over at Eddie, who was already devouring his own food, his eyes half-closed. An idea struck him, as ludicrous as it was tempting. "You know what?" he said, setting his burger aside. "Let's just... cuddle."
Eddie looked up, surprise flitting across his face before a tired smile spread. "Yeah," he murmured. "That sounds like a good plan."
They shuffled closer, awkwardly at first, the tension of unspoken feelings thick in the air. But as the warmth of their bodies melded together, the tension began to dissipate. They fit perfectly, as if they were two puzzle pieces that had finally found their place. Evan felt Eddie's heartbeat, steady and reassuring, against his chest. The sound was like a lullaby, soothing the storm in his mind.
Sleep claimed them both, their limbs entangled in a tapestry of friendship and something more. The hours ticked by, the only sound in the room the soft symphony of their breathing. It was a strange, intimate moment, one that seemed to hold the promise of a future neither had dared to imagine.
When the first ray of sunshine crept through the blinds, Evan's eyes fluttered open. He was still in Eddie's arms, the warmth of their embrace seeping into his bones. The realization of what had happened settled over him like a warm blanket. He looked down at Eddie, who was still asleep, his features relaxed and peaceful. His heart swelled with a love so potent it was almost painful. He leaned in, his breath warm against Eddie's cheek, and whispered the words he'd been longing to say. "I love you."
Eddie's eyes opened slowly, meeting Evan's with a clarity that spoke volumes. "I love you too," he murmured, his voice still thick with sleep. They stared at each other for a moment, the gravity of their confessions hanging in the air.
And then, as if the dam of their inhibitions had finally broken, they kissed. It was a gentle, tentative exploration, a promise of things to come. The taste of salt from their tears mingled with the sweetness of their breath. Their lips moved in a silent dance of confession and acceptance, a declaration of love that had been a lifetime in the making.
The kiss grew deeper, more urgent, as their bodies responded to the newfound connection. They broke apart, panting, their eyes searching each other's for reassurance. It was there, in the soft light of the early morning, that they realized that their friendship had evolved into something beautifully complex.
The tension between them grew palpable, a cocktail of excitement and fear. They were standing on the precipice of a new chapter, one that would irrevocably change their lives. But for now, all they could do was hold each other close, hearts racing in tandem, and let the warmth of their love guide them through the fog of uncertainty.
