I think Seven of Nine would approach Tuvok like 'I am unaccustomed to being alone but the other crew members keep trying to socialise with me and I don't care for it. I've judged you the member of the crew least likely to engage in meaningless social interactions. I would like to spend some time with you.' And Tuvok is like 'that is logical. You may join me in my quarters this evening.'

She comes over and stands motionless by the wall while he sits and works on his reports and personal log. After 3 hours she's like 'that was satisfactory. I will join you again next week' and he's like 'acceptable'.

It's a major event in both of their social calendars.

And so, SO many other ridiculous things. She and I will outlast this current ridiculous thing, too, because, even if they try to take away the word marriage from us, they cannot take away the love and commitment we have to each other. That's what makes a marriage, and no one can forcibly remove that kind of love and devotion.

Besides, we share a lot of debt, and it is way too late now to break up and have to figure out who is going to take custody of the cat and rabbit.

I Like to Listen to Audiobooks at Work, but I've Regrets on This One

Specifically, I like to listen to meet cute books. If it has a little spiciness to it, fine, but, at work, I'm not looking for fanfiction level spice, IYKYK.

So, today, I was looking through the selections and found this book. The description sounded like a fun, if not a little risqué, meet cute. I loaded it up, and this is the content of the text chat my friend, whose name happens to be the same as one of the main characters, and I had after the end of the first chapter. Mind you, it was 7:35 in the morning on Tuesday.

Me: Oh my God, I started an audiobook this morning that looked like a meet cute, but, you know, a lesbian meet cute. Kassie. I was sitting at my desk listening with earbuds to the FIRST GODDAMN CHAPTER when the most graphic lesbian sex scene my precious virgin work ears have ever heard started up. I choked on my saliva, gasped, and nearly passed out.

Kassie: HAHAHAHAHAHA So it's GOOD, that's what I'm getting from this. Lmaoooo

Me: Like, girl, that is not my typical type of media. I'm in for the subtle reference to the deed, not details enough to be a how-to manual. I'm currently sitting here trying to blink away my Southern Working Girl shock. Like, that's for fanfiction. IT IS FOR FANFICTION, NOT WORK FICTION.

Kassie: No I Loooooove a spicy book

Me: Spicy is fine... ****for hooooommmeeee**** Oh my God, I literally Pearl clutched.

Kassie: Lmaooooo

Me: Anyway, the title of the book is "Mistakes Were Made," and I agree.

Kassie:

Anyway, I'm listening to it when I workout as a distraction from working out. It's very effective, and I highly recommend it, especially if you're into older woman X younger woman and/or brunette X blonde.

Statement from Tristan Kern de Gonzales

Husband of Jonathan Joss

My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done.

Throughout that time we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic.

When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw.

While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired.

Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.

Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future.

He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other.

I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved.

To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family.

My focus now is on protecting Jonathan's legacy and honoring the life we built together.

If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband.

Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built.

This is fucking heartbreaking. The cruelty of this is just unfathomable to me, but unsurprising. It seems that everywhere I turn are examples of boundless cruelty. Jonathan was a blessing in life, and may his memory forever be a blessing to us all. I will remember him. And I hope that this June is a fucking riot.
