The one where gordon doesn’t even know who barney is…. Or does he? We are positing to you this: what If gordon USED to know who barney was, but convienently,,,, forgot? I HEAR YOU. “Sheppy. What the Fuck are you Talking About. He clearly said Not Ringing A Bell in freemans mind 2 episode 1, and laater in that same episode made fun of Barney’s choice of words about how impossible it would be for gordon to recognize him out of the thousands of employees at Black Mesa…. ” LISTEN : two things.

after getting bashed by the military, he had temporary memory loss and forgot all about the rescas, aliens, etc. We as the audience have no way of knowing if he regained ALL of his memories if you’re of the camp that gordon rarely talks about his interpersonal relationships (like with Barney, Stark, Felix, Jesse, etc. He mentions eddie only a handful of times despite eddie being his Only friend).

Gordon is……….. easily influenced by hypnosis. Like to a comical degree. Gmind doesn’t even need mind powers to do this to him. To keep gordon complacent with moving forward on his mission, gmind could have simply waved a coin on a string in front of gordon and it would have worked. Hes very suggestable.

You can go with either story here; I like to think it’s a combination of Both. So now you ask “ok sheppy Nice ideas. But where’s your evidence?” . I HAVE SOME. For you. Evidence that Gordon once knew Barney, but doesn’t anymore, but his subconcious still does…….!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EXHIBIT A:

Gordon earlier claimed to not know who Barney was… and yet, here he is, saying something like “Taking shit from a guard” after Barney needles him a bit. How did Gordon know Barney was a guard? It’s not mentioned by anyone. Barney only said He was from Black Mesa. The only indication that Barney WASN’T a scientist at black mesa would be his jab of “MIT education really pays for itself” --- but that could have equally come from someone who went to a rival school. Gordon isn’t calling Barney a guard because of his metrocop uniform --- he has already correctly identified metrocops AS cops. There are other jobs at Black Mesa. Barney could’ve been in IT, a repair man, someone on the “business” side, janitor, chef, etc… yet gordon calls him a guard. HMMMMM…. CURIOUS. BI-CURIOUS!

EXHIBIT B:

Kleiner doesn’t need anyone to take care of him = Barney please come with me <3 <3

This is a smaller point. It’s just a moment where, when read between the lines, Gordon is basically asking Barney to come with him. Barney says he has to stay with Kleiner, but Gordon says kliener doesn’t need anyone. The unspoken implication here is that Gordon wants Barney to come with him. Barney doesn’t need to guard kleiner, in context barney was talking about coming with Gordon, and Gordon made a rebuttal against that point. But its written so beautifully and masterfully by Ross Scott; Gordon doesn’t KNOW he wants this/. ITS ALL SUBCONCIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There Are Buttermind Cathedrals Everywgere fFor Those with the Eyes To See…………………………… bravo vince.

EXHIBIT C:

“if that IS your real name!” (barney)

As we all know, Barney is literally fat and transgender. This is just objectively canon so I don’t need to Present evidence for that right now . So, Barney is transgender ftm , but Barney is a masc name, so he mustve had his name legally changed at some point in time. Gordon would know about this, because I think he would know his boyfriend is transgender due to the gay sex that they canonically have (barney can totally take gordon !) . Whether or not Gordon knows barney’s deadname is not relevant; what IS relevant is that Gordon senses that Barney’s “real name” isn’t barney --- this isn’t transphobia. Gordon forgot barney, ergo forgot he was transgender also. All that is left is some subconcious knowledge of Barney’s name being “changed” in some way. That results in him thinking Barney may be a fake name. Something is “off” about barney and he doesn’t know what. He’s grappling with strange feelings and processing them through his usual lense of distrust. Again, not intentional transphobia! Gordon isnt transphobic, hes just an amnesiac dealing with odd, conflicting feelings of familiarity and remoteness. What a masterclass of writing !

MARIOGATE

Gordon has swapped how he says mario from freemans mind 1 to freemans mind 2. Thats just weird, right? Why did he say that? Why did he change within the span of a few days? WHATS DIFFERENT? HIS FUCKING MEMORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said mehrio to piss barney (gamer) off. Because pissing barney off is funny. Now he doesn’t remember barney. He doesn’t remember his funny mehrio bit. He’s been reduced to a man who says mario like a normal guy. Its so tragic. He needs to remember barney right now so he can be a healed individual and say mehrio again……!

Okat. That is the evidence we have fpr now. freemans mind 2 isnt done yet, and obviously ross scott is writing a tragic but beautiful story about a man who Forgot His lover , but will remember in the fully animated SFM finale with custom lore accurate models where they will share a passionate Kiss …! and everyone will clap and it will be epic sauce.

seattle’s going under is genuinely one of my favourite fic series’ i’ve ever read. like i cannot express how much i resonate with it, specifically how you write and portray freemind. ur art is super cute too and i love how you draw the guys. everything is so so personally important to me, thank you for making it.

Helou... I was wondering if you could perhaps share a list of all the series for the mindverse? I've been looking thru your art because I want to watch them all but there's some I can't identify (Jimmy calhoun, heather) I want to make sure I'm not missing anything, since you're the expert thought I'd ask lol

before I give u a list of the main series, , here's where heather and jimmy come from:

heather is from Freeman's Mind! She's mentioned in episode 36 so she's a side character like eddie, cousin jesse, college roomate jessie, ted, ramirez, kate, james who was ish's lab (life) partner, lauren whos mentioned like 3 times, C.J., harry, others who ive probably forgotton.... She's "stone cold" according to gordon, and gordon brings her up after waking up ina trash compactor so shes the type of person to drag his limp body and throw him in there. which is based of her.

Jimmy calhoun is my friend's (@blushft) oc. he's a buttermind """fankid""" but dont worry; he was an accident, he was unwanted, hes full of teenaege angst, he has gordon and barneys worst qualities, he wants gordon (absent father) to be publicly executed , and barney did not teach him how to read, but! he does have some redeeming qualities, like he does know what the word beer looks like, hes alyx's buddy, and he eats dirt. . FELIX has a "canon" fan kid though(jacob!) but ive yet to find where to watch his series... CURSE of lost media!!!!!!!!!!

felix mains scout in tf2. thats all you need to know

Felix is gordon's younger twin brother. They look very similar, but Felix has "bluer" eyes than Gordon does. They have a strained relationship. After Felix moved to canada and Gordon was over in Austria or at MIT (its unclear exactly when), their parents died. Imo, I think Felix holds it against Gordon that he wasn't "there" for him., even if he doesnt actually say anything about THAT specifically. He certainly seems to think Gordon doesnt care about him (despite sharing stories where Gordon cares about him). In felix's mind, Felix has amnesia for a good portion of it, so he doesn't remember who he is; we can kind of see he has a complex with his brother. He both envies and dislikes gordon --- meanwhile, gordon doesn't say anything about felix. Felix lives in gordon's shadow but Gordon dgaf --- except he does give SOME fucks. he got felix his job at black mesa, after all....

ok enough about the twins. felix focus time

i recently rewatched felixs mind with my friend and we took notes. FIRST THINGS FIRST. He does NOT say ANY SLURS in his series. HOWEVER! he is definitely sexist. and he has a homophobic aura. we've come to the conclusion that he's also tried to have sex with barney but it failed horrendously, partially because felix was weird about barney being trans. (this was like around college era for both of them and barney has forgor. felix remembers forever). Felix is a Closeted Repressed Genderfluid Transfem Individual. this is so true and canon and you can trust me ok...

BARNEY is his buddy. barney is the only one who can reliably tell him apart from gordon. Stark knows who Felix is; we can assume they are at least pleasant acquaintances. He probably knows Arlen, Ryan, and Kate in passing. Heather does not like him. lauren is his "friend"

While gordon makes the occasional dirty joke, Felix is much more crass. felix talks about dick and balls. he is a transhumanist. he wants mechanical dick and balls. His girlfriend (ex?) is chell of chell's mind fame. No one knows how he managed this --- HOWEVER! The fact he was able tosomehow get a girlfriend is astounding. From this, we can tell he's.... more socially normal than gordon. Felix is like freakier on the scale of freak, but hes better at appearing well adjusted for the most part (all mind series are in high stakes situations where the characters are mostly panicking, so we can only draw conclusions from evidence presented on how they would act in mundane situations). Felix is LIKEABLE. Felix has friends. People like him, even though he sucks. He sucks in a more tolerable and socially acceptable way than gordon does. Felix is obviously insecure, not that he will ever admit this. Felix also calls himself a silly pasty white boy. and he is indeed very silly. hes more internet brained than gordon. if he was in 2025 he would be a gooner and a redditor (but all mindverse characters are redditors). felix is very sarcastic, but hes also much more varied in his tone + yell-yier than gordon. Felix wants PPrincess Luna from MLP. he seems to have a negative view of drug users.

felix is like someone who would say "females". hes like the type of person who would get radicalized by sigma male content eventually. also if you break gender norms around him he thinks its weird. hes like someone who would use your pronouns but in a way that feels transphobic. like hes being held at gunpoint by the the woke left to do this. ALL THAT ASIDE, hes still like... tolerable? still sexist and weird about gender butits only because hes jealous and needs to take estrogen. he absorbed all of gordons gender in the womb. stupid selfish asshole.

additional stuff from full mind awareness:

negative views of drug users are confirmed, hes also definitely homophobic and repressed, and he also seems to share his brothers occasionally tenuous grip on reality (stating it likes runs in the family iirc? somthing like that) but is more aware of it than gordon is. Felix cares about his brother, but still is overshadowed by him, and still doesnt really believe Gordon cares about him back.
