I need some people to understand that I will absolutely ship two characters who would absolutely never get together in canon simply because I want to. No I don’t think they’re canon nor will I look for subtext that they like each other. In fact, I don’t even want them to be canon. I just like the art and fanfiction man. my opinions on my fav saiki k ships in a few words:

kokochiyo: peak lesbian best friends to lovers

chiysu: its sooo underrated for literally no reason whatsoever but it has so much potential thats just COMPLETELY UNUSED BY THE FANDOM

chiyo x aren (i dont even know what the shipname is....): I really love the idea of them together bc they are both very romantic and passionate and also bc Chiyo deserves a good guy in her life just once

kubosai: they parallel each other so well with both having the desire to fit in, and i just think they would be cute af :D

honorable mentions: like any other of the ships... Saiki k is like on of the few shows where i can (and will) ship LITERALLY ANYTHING if its presented to me nice enough lmao

i like dazai in the main story and him being in the ''light'', but his character archetype fits and works better in Beast. this time we know why he is lwkey an omniscient individual, like you've also explained. I feel like his mastermind personality and him planning things behind in secret and beforehand work better in this setting and scenario. his ending is also rather tragic but fitting, he accomplishes what he's wanted by securing oda's life, and then he chooses to die to secure and maintain the Beast world, leaving things for Atsushi and Akutagawa to deal with. It also opens more room for Atsushi and Akutagawa to develop by themselves without getting pushed by Dazai constantly, and Dazai's removal from the story allows Atsushi and Akutagawa to become more like main characters without Dazai taking the stage (this is a problem that happens in the main series where Dazai appears more like a main character than Atsushi).

I just wish the Beast story would continue somewhere in the future because I would like to read the story's progression and what happens

Huge agree on every point!! Down to really wishing the Beast story would be continued somewhere. I love Beast Dazai, and I can't help but share the feeling that Beast is the context in which Dazai's character works best– he's omniscient for a reason, he's committed to both ruthless evil and selfless good and so on; even though I respect and appreciate the fact that he wouldn't exist without the main Dazai that we know. I'm also greatly compelled by the endless possibilities of sskk acting without Dazai's sometimes overwhelming presence... I'd like to see sskk actually struggle to come together with strategies together, that's something we've seen so little in canon yet.

Hot take: the stigmatisation of pedophilia in our culture does more harm then good

Ik ik it sounds crazy at first but

Pedophilia is not something people have control over or just randomly choose to have, its more like an "uncurable illness"

Most people with pedophilia DONT act on their feelings and are actually very ashamed and unhappy with themselves.

Imo this lifelong guilt and repression leads to an increase in pedo criminality in the worst case, and to depression, anxiety and other mental illnesses for affected people in the best.

Not every pedophile abuses kids. Not every pedophile is a criminal. Some pedophiles are even children or teens themselves.

which is why it should be socially accepted to be a pedophile. Because then people get actual support, which is beneficial for both them AND everyone around them!

Why?

More visibility leads to an increased mental well-being for the people with pedophilia and also protects kids by making the illness more transparent and by that helping possible abusers BEFORE the abuse even happens.

Less stigma around pedophilia would mean people get actual help, that they need and also deserve.

Pedophiles are also human, and deserve to live in dignity and with respect.

Also: As good as castrations of child molesters and rapists sounds to you, everyone should be aware how bad this would actually be.

No human should be castrated, killed or tortured for their crimes. Not even rapists or child molesters.

Every human deserves dignity and that includes abusers, even when they deserve it.

Apart from that, it would lead to so many possible ethical dilemmas and issues in the future that can be avoided by just not doing it.

Because you would have to set the line from where you start with these punishments,

and then that line can be moved.

So its better to just not draw the line at all.

i think too many people sleep on the fact that saiki consistently acknowledges how teruhashi's efforts are what gets her what she wants. it's not that she's beautiful, it's that her efforts make her beautiful.
