Appreciation post with every single Taylor Room I've done so far! 💛💜❤️🩵🩷🩶🤎💙🤍
The Taylor Swift Room and the Reputation Room won't be done until we have their Taylor's Version re-release (it would only be fair!).

I know that Disney’s new movie “Wish” hasn’t even come out yet, but I feel like I can already guess some of its themes basing on the soundtrack and the clips we’ve gotten so far.
The vibes I’ve been getting from the songs (especially Knowing What I Know Now and This Wish reprise) is that there’s a huge emphasis on standing up against an authority figure who promises something good for the people but is actually just making them entirely dependent on him so that he can presumably acquire more power. The line "We were all confusing your promises for protection" from This Wish (reprise) comes to mind regarding this.
Another detail I'd like to point out is the fact that "people deserving more than what they've been getting" seems to be a recurring theme/motif/line throughout the film. Asha literally sings "So I make this wish, to have something more for us than this" and says something along the lines of "The people of Rosas deserve more" in the trailer.
I can't help but think of this as an allegory for how companies treat writers, animators, and actors. Companies promise to give these talented people something good but only give them back shit in return.
If you're not entirely convinced yet, take a look at the official clip Disney released a few days ago showing the root of Asha and Magnifico's conflict. Once a person gives their wish to the king, their memories of that wish, their deepest desires, their primary motivation for living their lives, are erased and are left waiting for him to grant it. But the thing is... he doesn't grant most of them (which seems reasonable because some wishes can be dangerous), instead he just hoards them without any intention of giving them back to the people. Asha makes a great point of asking why he doesn't just give the wishes back so the people can pursue their dreams and make their wishes come true themselves (and if the wishes are dangerous, then they can be stopped). Magnifico is against this and I'm guessing it's because the wishes give him his power.
This reads to me as a creator pitching a show or a movie to a company promising greatness for their work only for it to be canceled or severely fucked with before it can even spread its wings and fly. Instead of giving the creator back their work so they can pursue in telling the whole story they wanted to tell, the company keeps the creator's work for itself so it can have all the $$$$$$$$.
These companies make promises of grandeur to these people only for it to make decisions entirely for its gain ignoring all the writers, animators, creators, and actors who work for them.
It's like this film is saying that these people deserve more than what they've been getting and should absolutely fight back. They deserve to get their stories told, they deserve to get their proper amount of pay, they deserve to be treated as human beings with lives outside their work, and they deserve to have their wishes granted.

I would also like to add: great mlm rep for ANIMATION
Don’t get me wrong, I love the wlw rep we’ve been getting in animation, but there’s not really much animated mlm couples in the same vein as Catradora, Lumity, Bubbline, Korrasami, etc.
I’m just glad the gay boys can finally be the main characters in children’s animated media 😭
Everyone has talked about how Nimona is great rep for so many people. Disability, Asian men, gay asian men, trans people, and everyone who can fit themselves into the allegory and messages.
But I also want to point out the rep given to gay men here (which yeah, its the most noticable in the movie to non lgbtq+ people) but beyond that. Gay men in media seem to be a one trick pony most of the time. Until recently, it seemed that the only place I could see myself was as a catty, shallow, charicature of a stereotype. And no shade to gay men who are these things, but that is simply just not all that we are (and this rep was not done to rep those types of gay men, lets be honest. It was to throw in a stereotype)
With stede bonnet, and blackbeard, and nick and charlie, and now with Ballister and Ambrosius...I can see myself as having a place in historical fiction, a sappy teen romance, and in my favorite genre of fantasy. And that is so important

Istg, every Pixar movie since 2019 has gone through some controversy
Toy Story 4 - conservatives boycotting the movie because of an extremely brief scene with lesbian parents of a kid in Bonnie’s daycare (I honestly forgot about this one)
Onward - the lesbian cyclops cop is “Disney’s first gay character”
Soul - controversy over turning people of color into nonhumans (this one was understandable though), some hate towards the character designs
Luca - More hate towards the “CalArts” character designs, accusations of queerbaiting
Turning Red - “wahhh the movie is cringe, how dare teenage girls have fun,” “oh no how dare they talk about periods,” even more hate towards the character designs
Lightyear - conservatives throwing tantrums over a split-second gay kiss
Elemental - the movie is homophobic because it’s about a m/f couple being persecuted! It’s not like interracial couples, straight or not, have been persecuted! Oh wait now the movie is a bad allegory for racism, even though the director and lead cast members are POC, lalalala I’m not listening! The movie is ugly and looks like a PS2 cutscene!1!1!1!
Y’all are just looking for excuses to hate on Disney’s works at this point (their business practices are another story though). I swear, some people can’t praise Puss in Boots, Spider-Verse, and Mario on their own merits without resorting to dunking on Disney and Pixar. It’s even spread to Ruby Gillman, as people said that the antagonist of the movie being a red haired mermaid is Dreamworks revenge against the Little Mermaid remake or whatever.
Most of the hate towards the previous movies was just conservatives being conservatives, but Elemental seems to get a ton of hate just for existing. Grow the fuck up.

[SPOILERS FOR MARIA CLARA AT IBARRA EPISODE FEB. 21, 2023]
In the original novel, Simoun died completely alone. He only had Padre Florentino by his side and in the end, he only committed suicide to escape the Spanish authorities; an escape plan for a failed mission. But in Maria Clara at Ibarra, he committed suicide as an atonement for his sins as Simoun after recognizing the error of his ways. This only happens because this Simoun had a support system, which led to him dying surrounded by the people who care about him. This is arguably a better (as in less tragic) end to Simoun. But what exactly is the cause of Simoun having a “better” ending? What factor made things work out differently so that Simoun had a support system? Klay.
Because of Klay’s numerous interactions with the novel/s, Simoun was able to have a functioning support system.
Because of Klay, Simoun grew a closer bond with Basilio 13 years ago as Crisostomo.
Because of Klay, Elias was able to survive, leading to him being present to witness his boyfriend dear friend’s demise.
Because of Klay, Juli was able to survive, which means Basilio is in a better mental capacity to regret joining Simoun in his dangerous plans of revenge, and chase after Isagani instead of just disappearing from the story from then on.
HECK, I’m convinced Klay is the reason why Fidel, an OC made by the show who didnt exist in the novels at all, is dragged to all of this mess in the first place.
Simoun died atoning for his sins surrounded by the people who care about him, instead of dying alone trying to escape the aftermath of a failed plan, BECAUSE OF KLAY. While Klay was unable to prevent the general dreariness and tragedies of the novels and other characters, she WAS able to at least provide a better ending for Simoun and by extension, the other characters close to him.
So in a way, Klay DID succeed in changing the story for the better. She DID succeed in making the novels a better place for its characters.
