Alexia looked at the woman and smiled. "hello miss, nice to meet you. My name is Alexia Ashford."

A new girl? Annette studied the woman, a fellow researcher perhaps, the likes of whom she had never seen before but she smiled warmly none the less. “Annette Birkin” she smiled, extending her hand for a brief handshake. The name Alexia Ashford seemed familiar to her, although she couldn’t place why and merely bushed it off; she was not entirely aware of this woman’s origins, her strong ties to Umbrella, or the turmoil a much younger Aleixa had created for her husband in his own younger years. “Its a pleasure to meet you too, I’m sure.”

Headcanon; Background

Thought I'd have a rough stab at writing my headcanon for Annette's backstory because I was thinking about it last night as theres not much info on her prior to the Raccoon city incident.  Due to her name, I believe Annette's family is french in origin, immigrating to the United sates in the 60's when Annette was only a baby. Annette took an interest in biology when she was young and dreamed of a career in science and medicine; a choice that her mother and father were not all that supportive of, believing that she was 'wasting her looks'. Not letting that stop her, Annette went forward and pursued her interests and the career of her dreams. With that, she soon became a researcher of Umbrella at 19 where she met William, who she was assigned Lab assistant of.  Her and Will ended up getting along well as the pair had shared interests- not only that, but William wasn't the much older man she had expected to be working for, and rather was exactly her age. Needless to say, the two hit it off pretty well and soon developed a romance which later resulted in their marriage.
