The frienemy project: part five

Weeks had passed by and the group had known Ava for a month and a half now. Raph and Leo had been talking about inviting her over. Mikey was scared. He didn’t want to show her but he also was tired of lying.

He desperately wanted to keep this friendship.

“Look. Let’s just wait a bit. I’m not sure a month is enough for her to be close to us” Mikey said, trying to act as casual as possible and not show he was absolutely terrified

“A month and 17 days actually” Donnie corrected, leaving Mikey rolling his eyes “yeah, whatever. It’s still not long enough”

Raph and Leo give each other a look. “Once we show her, more opportunities to be with her will arise!” Leo told him, trying to convince the youngest brother

“Yeah, or she will never want to see us again..” Mikey said, hunching his shoulder and turning away from his brothers. He could feel the tears burn his eyes

Raph then understood what this was all about. He sighed and made his way over to the teen before setting a hand on his shoulder. “Mikey, if she doesn’t want to hang out with us anymore.. then she’s not really our friend” Mikey clenched his fists “yeah. That’s what I’m afraid of”

Meanwhile at Ava’s place she was listening to music and cleaning up. Sundays were the best. She wasn’t happy about heading back to work. Only Sierra brought her joy but even She wasn’t there all the time

“They say cloud chaser, stargazer, looking the universe. Wishing I was up there with wings”

She sang lightly as she scrubbed the counter

“They say dream catcher, blaze maker-“ she stopped and groaned when a loud ringing was heard. Of course somebody was calling her at this EXACT moment

Looking at the lit up screen, the face of the phone said Leo was calling. Having to shove down rude words, she picked up her phone and started “what do you want?” She asked, trying very hard to keep her voice level. She wasn’t happy about being interrupted

“Oh hey! We were just thinking about having you over!” Ava blinked. “Really? Honestly I didn’t think you guys would invite me anytime soon!”

Leo made a strange choking sound on the other end before rasping out “yeah, well, we decided it’s time” Ava narrowed her eyes slightly at his tone “okay. Well what time do you want me to come over??”

Leo started to murmur something “oh um we will come over around 5. Is that ok?” Ava nodded even if he couldn’t see it. “Yeah that’s good!” She said. “Alright! See ya then!” Was all she heard before the phone hung up and her music started playing again

A few hours passed and it was now around five. Sitting on her couch, Ava looked through her closet. She wasn’t sure what kind of environment the hamatos house had. They weren’t the fanciest people alive but she didn’t want to go looking like trash

So she choose a pair of black sweatpants and a black jagged cropped shirt. A thin white undershirt underneath it. She was definitely too insecure to wear a crop top without one.

After she was done she got her shoes on and headed to the living room, turning on the tv. She didn’t get to watch her show for long before knocking was heard on the front door.

Trying to shove down her excitement, Ava got up and opened the door, looking at her friends on the other side.

“Hey bestie!!” Mikey said, bounding up to her and giving her a bone crushing hug. Returning it, the girl smiled “hi!”

He let go and backed up, allowing Leo to give her a hug, thankfully not nearly as tight. Donnie looked up at her but seemed uninterested with what was happening. Raph slapped his shoulder and Donnie gave him a confused look. “Alright, you ready?” Raph asked, giving her a fist bump. “Yeah, as ready as I’ll ever be!”

In the car, Ava sat inbetween Donnie and Mikey. Donnie made no attempt to hide how much he didn’t like being next to her, much to her annoyance. “So where’s April?” Ava asked, just now realizing the presence of the older girl missing. “She’s already at our place!” Leo said, jamming out to the song he had specifically chosen

“So.. Ava” Mikey started. Said girl looked over and furrowed her brows “yeah?” She asked, leaning over to hear him over the music that Leo had playing in the car speakers

“Would you still be friends with me if I was well.. hypothetically speaking..” he started. She could hear what seemed to be a low growl from the other side of her

“Michael” Donnie said lowly. Gritting his teeth as his narrowed eyes met Mikey’s

“Hypothetically speaking??” Ava said, urging the boy to continue. “Well hypothetically speaking, what if I was.. not human. Would you still wanna be friends with me?” The girl felt her face contort in suspicion. Why was he asking that? Donnie froze up, feeling his chest get heavy with panic. Raph gripped the steering wheel, hard. Leo looked to the side and covered his mouth with his hand, having to stop himself from shaking

Mikey felt a nervous laugh come up with how she was looking at him. Suddenly, as fast as the suspicion came, it left. He must be asking just for the fun of it.

“Yeah! I mean, I would probably be alarmed at first, but as long as you still have your personality, I don’t care how you look” she answered, throwing an arm around Mikey and leaning into his side. The boy had to stop himself from letting out a breath of relief. “Oh! Cool!” He said, glancing at his brothers, who calmed down significantly

The car stopped in the middle of an.. ally way? Ok. Now Ava really felt suspicious. Where her friend’s secretly murders?? Mikey urged her further into the alleyway, where the three older boys had gone. Ava looked back at the car and assessed her options. She could run and take the car. But she didn’t just want to leave them here..

She could run to the other street. But it was the middle of the night. If anything, she was safer with her friends. Even if they where potentially going to kill her

Letting out a sigh of nervousness, she made her way to Mikey, who put a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, it’s ok! I assure you, we aren’t planning on chopping you up and then hiding your body in a garbage bag”

Ava gave him a look. That was oddly specific

“You guys coming?” She could hear Donnie’s monotone voice come from deeper in the alley. “Yeah!” Mikey called back, urging Ava forward. “So like.. where are we going?” She asked, trying to keep her voice level. Her tone betrayed her however, as it sounded more like she was in distress.

Coming closer to the other three, Ava noticed that there was an entrance to a sewer. Ava no longer felt frightened, but instead, hella confused. What was going on??

“I thought we were going to your place?” Ava questioned, a hint of sarcasm in her tone

Leo let out a laugh “oh we are!” Raph then lifted the lid to the place and Leo was first one to descend the ladder.

Ava blinked and Mikey sighed “just..” he looked to the side “just trust us. Please?” He asked, looking directly at her now. Ava felt guilt bubbling in her stomach. Mikey wouldn’t do anything to harm her. Right?

“Here, I’ll go next. You come in after me” Mikey told her, lowering himself on to the ladder and making his way down. Ava let out a shaky breath and slowly got to the ground, grabbing the ladder and starting down.

She was halfway down when Donnie came next, coming down way faster than she was. She picked up the pace so he wouldn’t run into her and make them both potentially injured.

When she made it to the end, Mikey wrapped an arm around her waist and gently pulled her off the ladder, setting her down next to him. “Where’s Leo?” She asked, looking around. “Oh he went ahead to see if April is done with the pizza”

The mention of pizza immediately made Ava feel a bit better. Knowing April was here also made her feel more comfortable

Donnie and Raph had made their way down and led the group through the long tunnel, which.. suspiciously didn’t smell as bad as she though it would

Soon, Ava saw lights and then came face to face with what seemed to be a whole ass base.

“You guys live here?” Ava asked, voice quiet as she looked around the place. It had everything a normal house would. The area she was in looked like a living room. A giant couch and beanbag chairs were around the room in front of a projector, which was on a coffee table. Lights around the edges of the room twinkling.

“Yeah.. we have something we need to show you” Mikey said, voice low as he looked at his brothers. “Get April” was all Raph said, and in a few moments, April appeared. “Ava.. could you give us a few minutes?” She asked. Ava nodded and went back to the entrance.

The girl picked at her fingernails with anticipation. What could they possibly want to show her that was such a big secret?

“Ava!” Leo yelled after a few moments. She stopped picking her nails “yeah?” She called back. “You can come here now!” He answered. Breathing out a shaky sigh, Ava made her way back in

“What’s up?” She asked, staring at them. “Well.. we’ve been lying to you” Mikey said, sounding guilty. “Yeah.. we haven’t been the most honest. But trust me! It was for good reason!” Leo said, backing Mikey up.

Ava crossed her arms and knitted her brows together. “What do you mean?” She asked, voice coming out in a low whisper. April pursed her lips in nervousness. “Um well. We aren’t exactly.. human” Leo lowered his voice at the last part

Ava stared at them for a moment before snorting “really? Not human?” She questioned. It was painfully clear that she didn’t believe them. And why would she? They are literally standing in front of her. Looking pretty human in her opinion

Leo let out a shaky breath and grabbed his necklace, taking it off. Within a few seconds, Ava watched his skin turn green, his clothes being replaced by what seemed to be a shell. A strap around his chest which held swords behind them. He had turned into a weird humanoid turtle thing

Her eyes widened as the Donnie, then Raph and Mikey did the same thing. Their body’s completely morphing.

She then glanced back at Leo who she noticed had red stripes on his eyes, the shape was that of a.. crescent? It suddenly made sense now. Mikey gave her a look of sadness, tears on the verge of spilling

Leo gave an awkward laugh “tada!!” He said, waving his three fingered hands in the air. It made sense as to why Raph was so inhumanly large. It made sense as to why Donnie kept giving Mikey warning glances before. It made sense as to why Mikey had asked that question..

Staring at them, April cleared her throat awkwardly. “So.. you good?” She asked. Ava made a straight face and then made her way over to April. Pulling down her shirt collar, she grabbed the necklace around April and took it off quickly before staring at her, as if expecting something

After a few moments of silence, Ava nodded “ok. So you are human” she said, giving April’s necklace back and staring at the boys again. Donnie tensed up under her gaze “you’re angry..” he said, just a little above a whisper

The girls eyes widened when she realized she had been glaring at them. “I’m sorry. I am mad. But not at the fact that you’re mutants”

Leo’s own eyes became wider “you know what mutants are??” He asked, taking a step closer to her. She nodded “of course I do. It’s New York. I have heard lots of story’s of mutant sightings”

Mikey let out of a breath of belief, now walking up to her. “Then what are you mad about?” He asked, anticipation making him antsy. Before Ava answered, she looked him up and down. He had orange spots on his dark green skin and painted sports of his plastron.

She sighed and put her hands on her hips “I’m mad you guys didn’t tell me sooner”

“Well we had good reason-“

“I know Donnie. I know” Ava told him, making his jaw snap shut. “As much as it was a good reason, I’m mad that you didn’t tell me sooner” she started, then walking up to them and jumping Leo’s shell

“Because this is so cool!!!” She shouted, making Leo wince but laugh “really?? Oh geez, see Mikey! You were worried for nothing!” Leo told him. Mikey just clicked his tongue and rubbed the back of his neck.

Ava got off of Leo and checked the pattern of his shell. “Mikey! Let me see your shell!” She said and Mikey excitedly came over to her. He turned around and let the girl examine it

“You guys are so cool!” She said, now going over to Raph, who blushed at the attention he was getting as she asked multiple questions and checked his giant spiky shell.

Her eyes landed on Donnie, feeling the urge to walk over but something told her that he would let her check him out the same way his brothers did

Sighing, she turned around and smiled, hopping back on Leo, who gripped her thighs to keep her supported.

When she had turned around, a look of hurt flashed across Donnie’s face as he rubbed his arms. Suddenly feeling self conscious. He tried not to show it because he didn’t understand why he was upset. Did he feel left out that she didn’t seem as interested in him?

The group talked and laughed as they made their way through the whole place, showing Ava every part of it.

Later, she had met splinter, the groups dad. She had learned about the shredder and the Krang and everything that had happened. Of course they didn’t explain everything, as to not make the story to grim

“Okay okay, that is all cool and all” Ava started, staring at the boys before putting her hand over her mouth “but I have a question for you all”

Mikey in particular was curious “what is it?” He asked. Ava took the hand off her mouth, face red and she said “how are you all so jacked up??”

There was a moment of silence before Leo and Mikey burst out laughing. Leo rolled to his side, clutching his ribs as his face turned red with flustered giggles. Mikey’s face was also turning a dark shade of red as he gave loud bursts of laughter

Raph chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. Blushing furiously.

Donnie on the other hand, took a few moments to process before his cheeks turned a pinkish color, glancing at his arms for a moment before looking back up at the girl

April was laughing as well “girl!! You are thirsty!!” She exclaimed, throwing an arm around her. “Look. Besides Raph, I couldn’t really see their arms because of the long sleeved shirts and hoodies they always wear”

She then pointed to Donnie “especially him!!” Said teen could feel his heart hitting his rib cage hard at the comment. Mikey wiggled his eyebrows at Donnie, who then groaned and put his hands on his face to cover it

“So like, you can’t blame me!” Ava said, finishing her statement of defense. Leo finally calmed down and flexed “I mean no I can’t! I am pretty handsome” he said, smirking. Ava groaned and covered her eyes. “Leo, stop that”

Leo burst out in a fit of giggles again as he made his way to the kitchen. “In all the fun and excitement of showing off our good looks, pizza was forgotten. I don’t know about yall, but I’m eating”

The boys immediately jumped up and ran to the kitchen, a loud “nardo!!” Was heard from Donnie when he caught up to him

April wiped the tear from her eye as she smiled, walking to the kitchen before turning around and looking at Ava. “Come on!” She yelled, snapping the girl out of her thoughts as she ran into the kitchen

The frienemy project: part four

Scribbling on the paper furiously, Ava grumbled incoherent words of rage as she failed to make her study for a third time. This assignment was due tomorrow. She hasn’t even gotten half way through it before crumpling the paper up or destroying it another way

The small light in the room illuminated only her desk as she worked. The clock on it reading 11:23 at night. Ava didn’t feel very tired though, the anger in her veins was helping with keeping her energized

She felt a bitter laugh come up her throat as she tried to write another sentence, only to grab the paper and rip it up completely. This seemed impossible at this point. “You know what?? Imma just take a break” she told herself, getting up from her seat and making her way through her hallway into the kitchen of the small apartment she lived in.

She had a job, which she had to get up for in the morning but she also just wanted to get this done and over with. Opening the fridge, she scanned the food items before grabbing milk and cereal. A lazy choice but who could blame her?

Putting the items on the counter she paused what she was doing when she felt a buzz coming from her pocket. She reached into it, grabbing her phone and checking it. Donnie had sent a message saying

‘Change my name now!’

Being tired, it took her a moment to comprehend what he meant but when she figured it out she laughed

(Me)

‘What? You don’t like the name raisin?’

(Raisin)

‘I don’t actually. I would appreciate it if you changed it’

(Me)

‘Wow. sensitive much?’

(Raisin)

‘Im not. I just don’t understand why you chose that as a profile name for me’

(Me)

Because you wear purple. Duh 🙄’

Ava didn’t mean the eye roll as something rude, but more in a way of “it should have been obvious” she turned back to the milk and cereal on the counter, uncapping the milk and pouring it into the bowl of cornflakes

Another buzz was heard, but she didn’t look until she had sat down at the table

(Raisin)

‘Oh haha. Very funny’

(Me)

‘It is actually’

(Raisin)

‘No it’s not. And why are you still awake?’

Ava sighed and shook her head lightly. Why was he still up?

(Me)

‘You can’t be asking that’

(Raisin)

‘I just did’

(Me)

‘Not what I meant dumbass’

(Raisin)

‘??

How am I the dumbass? I just stated that I literally can’

(Me)

‘Your not getting my point’

(Raisin)

‘There’s no point to be gotten’

Ava, still shoveling down the cereal in front of her, deciding to just be done with the conversation, giving him one last text

(Me)

‘🖕’

(Raisin)

‘🖕🏿’

Rolling her eyes at his pettiness (as if she isn’t petty) she shut off her phone and nearly fell asleep at the table once the fury from earlier had gone away. She very groggily, got up and put her bowl in the sink before trudging her way to bed, not even bothering to shut off the small lamp before she collapsed on the bed

Donnie wasn’t amused. She hadn’t even changed the name for him after all that. He would just change it himself, hacking into her phone but that would be way too obvious. He sighed and put down his phone after that last message, still working on the hover board he was making, which could literally hover.

He knew what she had meant with the sleeping thing, but he decided to be a smartass, as per usual. What he hadn’t gotten was whatever “point” there was. He was certainly learning more about her personality as each day went on.

He huffed and put his goggles on as he started to weld the metal plates of the hover board. Once he had finished, he turned the flame thrower off and leaned back in his chair, putting his legs up on the table as he scrolled his phone

Than it hit him.

April had invited her to go shopping. Maybe he could go with. Sure, he would need a good excuse as to why he needed to go hang out in the mall, but than he would be able to observe how this new friend was. He wasn’t going to lie, he was still suspicious. All his other brothers and even April had opened up to her and let her in, but he wasn’t sure about how he felt about her yet

She liked science, which was interesting and he knew she had a job and study’s which is why he had questioned why she was still awake.

Even though his brothers told him not too, he had hacked and snooped through her phone. He had to make sure she could be trusted. Obviously he didn’t see anything worth noting but he couldn’t be to sure

He went to April’s profile and shot her a quick text asking if he could come along. He understood that she most likely wouldn’t see it till morning. God knows she has a better sleep schedule than he does

Once he had done that, he took a sip of coffee and got back to work

Getting up the next morning was one of the most difficult tasks to ever be done. Ava had to get up by nine and make it to work, otherwise her ass would be grass.

Hopping into the shower and getting herself dressed, she got everything and went to her car, only to realize she had forgotten her keys. Groaning, Ava made her way back inside and got them, than ran out and drove to work as quickly as she could without getting a ticket

Work at a restaurant on a Friday was stressful. Her manager had been having her work overtime tonight because of the other employees up and quitting so suddenly.

“Oh my goodness. What a rush!” Her coworker sierra said. Sierra was only a few years older than Ava, not having much adult experience herself. Her tan skin almost sparkled in the light of the restaurant, brown wavy hair bouncing as she walked to Ava.

“Today has been a handful hasn’t it?” She asked, leaning on her elbows as she stared at the crowd in front of them. “Oh yeah. I’m glad you’re here though” Ava told her, making the older woman smile. “I’m glad you’re here too!” She than leaned down and whispered “between the two of us, your my favorite coworker”

Ava shook her head and chuckled “the feelings mutual” she answered back.

“Sierra, table seven is ready to order” the manager named Josh said, poking his head out of the door to the kitchen. “Alright alright. I’m on it” sierra said, grabbing a note pad and pen before heading into the main part of the restaurant. The place Ava worked at was an Italian place called “joshes Italian restaurant”

It was lazy naming, but Ava couldn’t tell Josh that. He literally owned the place

A few minutes later Sierra came back, hips swaying as she walked and face a pinkish color. “What’s up with you? Gotta fever or something?” Ava joked, knowing full well how much of a flirt her friend was.

“Oh no, but those hot customers at table seven will sure give me one” she said, twirling her hair and swooning over a couple of strangers she had met and would probably never see again

“Alright, tell me about them while we are in the kitchen” Ava said, opening the door for Sierra to go through. Making their way through the kitchen, Ava was paying attention much as Sierra put into detail how hot one woman was with her pretty outfit and sass. Then she mentioned one man who was big and burly who she said was Just a gentleman.

Ava chuckled at her friend’s antics, picking up the trays for the orders and waiting for Sierra to open the door to the main room. Which took a moment because she was so busy talking about these hot strangers

“Like seriously girl, they are HOT. SPICEY” than she looked at Ava seductively before going “grr” her r’s rolling. Ava made a face of shock before laughing “don’t ever GRR in front of me again!”

Sierra laughed “no promises! But alright, you gotta get these orders to them, than gotta tell me which one was the cutest to you”

Ava, who was halfway out of the door to the kitchen when she said “wait, there’s more??”

“Oh there’s one girl and a couple of guys! You’ll see!” Sierra yelled as the door shut.

Ava braced her racing nerves as she made her way to this table. She was not sure what she was going to see. Table seven was behind a couple of booths and it had a bit more privacy since it was in the back.

Turning the corner, Ava nearly dropped the food as she saw who sat there. In the booth, under the low lighting, chatting and laughing together was Mikey, Donnie, Leo, Ralph and April

Now her nerves felt more jittery, either of nervousness or of excitement. She couldn’t tell which.

Donnie was the first to look up, as he made eye contact with her, he patted Leo’s arm, catching the teens attention

“Guys! It’s Ava!!” He exclaimed excitedly. Mikey turned in his seat and started to literally vibrate in his chair. Raph smiled and waved and April got up

“Hey girl! Let me help you with these!” She said, taking tray off of Ava’s arms and putting it on the table. “Thanks April! Hey guys!” Ava said, coming up next to the table and looking at everyone

“I never thought I needed to see you in a work outfit, but you look gorgeous” Leo purred and Ava rolled her eyes “Leo, your commentary isn’t needed” she said, and Leo laughed

“This is so cool! I didn’t know you worked here!” Mikey exclaimed, getting up and going next to her. “Yeah, it’s weird. Isn’t Donnie the one who chose this place to eat?” Leo asked. Raph and Leo both narrowed their eyes at Donnie, who only shrugged

“You know me. I like Italian”

Leo raised a brow. “Wasn’t it yesterday you told Mikey you wouldn’t eat spaghetti becau-“ Donnie growled lowly and pinched Leo’s leg from under the table, making the teen shriek “ok ok. Noted” Leo muttered, looking away from his twin and putting his cheek on his hand as he grumbled

“Annnwayyss. I figured it would be cool to try this restaurant and now we know you work here. So cool” Donnie said, trying his best to act casually. Ava hadn’t seen it, but April shot him a look that said “we are going to talk later”

“Alright, well I have to get back to my shift! I’m working late tonight. Hopefully I’ll have energy for the store tomorrow”

April’s eyes lit up “yeah for sure!” She then got up and made her way over to Ava, throwing an arm around her and leaning closer “also, for some reason, Donnie wants to tag along. Is that cool with you?” Ava shrugged “yeah I don’t care” April smiled and patted her shoulder, taking her arm off her as she went to sit down

“See ya later Ava! It’s cool that you work here. Now we should definitely come more often!” April said as Ava walked back towards the main area. “That would be cool!” She yelled back.

Now back home, she slipped off her shoes and got into bed, checking her messages.

‘That’s how I feel Mikey. That’s how I feel’

‘I hope the rest of your shift wasn’t stressful or anything’

‘It wasn’t!’

Ava watched as Donnie started to type soemthing only for him to stop. Huh. Weird

(Me)

‘Anyways, night!’

‘Good night!!’

‘Wish you where sleeping in my bed 💋😘’

(Me)

‘I would rather eat shit’

(Raisin)

‘As gross as that sounds, it has some truth to it’

(Raphy)

‘Good night Ava! And Leo, stop it. Your going to make Ava throw up’

Ava laughed at the message and turned off her phone, falling asleep from the long day

——

A rapid knock is what woke the girl up as she quickly jumped out of bed, tripping on her own feet as she made her way into the living room “coming!!” She yelled, attempting to comb her hair out with her fingers as she opened the door

She was surprised when she was met with the faces of April and donnie. “Girl, it’s 1:23 in the afternoon. How late did you stay up last night?” April asked, waving her phone in front of the girls face

“Oh um. The usual” she said, leaning against the door, still trying to get her hair decent. “What’s the usual?” April asked, a hint of amusement in her tone

Ava didn’t get a chance to answer as she suddenly made eye contact with Donnie, who then proceeded to look her up and down before arching a brow her way

The words got caught in her throat as she became increasingly more and more self conscious on how she looked. At that realization, she glanced down to see her outfit which definitely wasn’t suited to go out in public in

.. a white tank top and red flannel pants.

Not only was it not suitable for public, but she felt a little embarrassed in front of Donnie, who, by no doubt, had also noticed her hair as she so desperately tried to make it better

Finally snapping out of her trance, she took a step behind the door in attempts to hide herself before saying “the usual. 9 or so..” Donnie again, shot her a questioning look, to which she narrowed her eyes. Does he think she’s lying or something?? Why is he acting like he’s suspicious of her?

“Alright, you get five minutes to be ready! Go!” April said, now coming into the apartment and shoving Ava towards her room.

Shutting the door behind her, Ava very quickly started to pull clothes out from her closet and throw on a quick outfit. A black oversized t-shirt and dark green cargo pants. She styled it by tucking the front part of the t-shirt in, allowing it to be loose on her frame without having the out fit look dull

She quickly brushed out her hair and sprayed some perfume, than put on the metal choker with stars that she has had since her last birthday

Opening her bedroom door, she was greeted with the sight of Donatello and April looking around. Not so deeply like in Cabinets or anything, but just checking out rooms

“Nice place you got!” April said, now coming up to Ava and then furrowing her brows. “Aren’t you going to be cold?” She asked when she noticed that the younger girl had not gotten a jacket. Ava shrugged “nah. I over heat way to easy when I am active and I heard it wasn’t going to be so chilly today” “okay” april said, only sounding half convinced as the group made their way out

Donnie was the last one out, shutting the door behind him with a small click. Ava got her key and locked it.

“Alright! Mall here we come!”

Stepping out of the car, Ava eyed the store and gave a soft sigh “I haven’t been here in a while” she said. April chuckled “well now I am glad I brought you here! There’s been a lot of remodeling done in the last couple of years”

Making their way into the store, the three decided they would head to the clothing section first, then food, then to the electronics store, which Donnie suggested. It had been hard for him to come up with that at first. Again, the only reason he came was to keep an eye on Ava.

“Oh oh! You should try this on! I feel like you would look nice in it!” Ava said, shoving a cropped shirt with fishnet lacing at the top towards April.

“You really think so??” She asked, looking at the item that had just been handed to her. Ava nodded “yes! Go try it!” April shook her head, laughing a bit as she made her way into the dressing room. A few minutes later, April had come out and just as Ava predicted, she absolutely ate in that shirt

“You look so good!!” The girl squealed, slightly jumping on the balls of her feet in excitement. “I have to agree. The shirt does suit you” Donnie said casually, not really as excited. “You know what??” April started to check herself out in the mirror “imma get this!” She finished, going back into the changing room and coming back out in her regular outfit. She then put the shirt into the cart and they made their way through a couple different clothing stores before they agreed to get food

Ava had gotten another pair of cargo pants and a few shirts. April had also gotten a few new pairs of pants but the only shirt she got was the one Ava had suggested. Donnie didn’t get anything. Stating that nothing was his “right shade of purple”

In the restaurant, April had asked for their orders and then went up to the counter, leaving Ava and Donnie alone

Nothing was said for a while before a comment that could start arguments was heard from Donnie’s mouth

“Geology isn’t real science”

What’s funny was, Ava had been reading an article on a new rock that was discovered. Mighty convenient if you ask me

“Just because you don’t think so, doesn’t mean it isn’t” Ava retorted back, continuing to read. “Oh I don’t think so” Donnie started “I know so”

Ava put down her phone and stared at him. “Geology is literally one of the main branches of science. What’s your evidence for it not?”

Donnie shrugged “oh it’s just that geology is also mixed in chemistry, biology and physics. It’s not a pure science”

“I’ll have you know-“ Ava started, only for Donnie to interrupt “geologists study past phenomena that is not observable or subject to scrutiny by any scientific method”

Ava had to grit her teeth in order to stop herself from saying something terribly rude.

“And plus, what psycho would want to study rocks anyway?” He questioned, voice thick with venom as he stared her down from across the table

The girl could feel her cheeks burn in anger. She hadn’t done nothing to him and here he was, insulting her.

“Yes, geology is a science. Geologists conduct calibrated, controlled examination of natural phenomena and make predictions based on hypotheses which are tested and confirmed or discarded”

She paused to make sure Donnie was actually paying attention before continuing “Geologists will develop major theories. such as the Theory of Plate Tectonics, which explains how the crust and mantle interact, and the consequences of that interaction”

“Well-“ Donnie tried to start, only for karma to catch up to him as Ava interrupted. “It is also an applied science and an experimental science. it integrates several other physical sciences, including classical physics, nuclear physics and even information technology, so yes, while it’s not a pure science, it’s still science!” she finished, taking in a huge breath of air once she realized she had stopped breathing

Donnie would have been impressed that she knew that, but he was just messing with her. Of course he understood geology was a real science. Just because he didn’t like it didn’t mean he didn’t know what it was. He just wanted to see how fast he could get on her nerves

She sees April start to walk back, food in hand. “And just so you know, LOTS of people really like rocks and geology” Ava seethed through her teeth. Donnie rolled his eyes but didn’t say anything as April came up to them

“Alright! Food is served!”

The frienemy project: part three!

It’s been a few days since meeting the boys and let’s just say they talk up a storm in the group chat.

(Lannoyance)

‘What’s been going on with you lately?’

Ava stared at her phone, pausing with baking and saying back

(Me)

‘Well, I got back home and unpacked. rested up. It helps that I got a free day from work. So I’m making cookies. How bout y’all?’

(My buddy😩)

‘Cookies?? Save some for me!’

(Me)

‘Well I’m not sure when I’ll see y’all again, so there may not be any left lol’

On the other side of the chat, Mikey stared at the phone and an idea popped into his head. He quickly bounded towards Raph and Leo who where in the living room, talking over the movie that was on

“You guys wanna see Ava today??” He asked, looking between them for approval. Leo’s eyes showed excitement as he was about to answer only for Raph to say

“Well I don’t know about today”

“She had cookies” Mikey enticed, wiggling his eyebrows at his oldest brother. Raphs face immediately changed “alright, let’s go” Mikey jumped up with energy. He can’t believed that worked.

Raph made his way to Donnie’s lab, knocking on it a couple times before Donnie grumbled a “come in already!”

Once raph had gotten inside, Donnie rubbed his forehead with his fingers, not hiding how annoyed he was at all. “What do you want?” He asked, opening his eyes and looking at Raph.

Said man crossed his arms at his brother’s Attitude but didn’t mention it. “We are going out. Wanna come with?”

Donnie sat up straight now, looking confused “why are you guys going up?” He than checked a holographic calendar that appeared when he taped a few buttons on his gauntlet

“We go grocery shopping on Fridays, training on Mondays, skate park every couple of Sundays.. and it’s a Wednesday. What are you guys doing?”

Raph chuckled at how scheduled his younger brother was. “Look, it’s not a schedule thing. We just decided to go out”

“Does it have something to do with Ava perhaps?” Donnie questioned, looking at his computer. “Well, yeah actually. Mikey wants to see her and so does Leo. I don’t mind going. I figured i would invite you as well”

“You also wanna go for cookies” Donnie stated, looking back at Raph who grunted in response. “If you knew, why did you ask?”

Donnie shrugged “I heard little bits of the conversation but not all of it. I had to be sure” he then got up, grabbing his coat and the necklaces, handing them to Raph, who only stood there. “You coming or what?” He asked, snapping Raph out of whatever he was thinking.

When Donnie came out of the lab, Leo and Mikey got excited. That meant he was going with them. “Alright boys” Raph said, handing them their designated jewelry. Their cloaking devices.

“We should invite April to meet her!” Leo exclaimed. “Yeah! She said she wanted to meet her!” Mikey said, backing up Leo. “Donnie, tell April to meet up with us at the park” Raph said, making Donnie roll his eyes. “Alright” was all he said before sending a quick message

The three older boys than put their cloaking devices on, talking about which said park they would go to meet up. Mikey was the last one to put his on, staring at his reflection before watching morph into something that he.. wasn’t. Would she accept them if she found out?

Ava stood out in the chilly winter air of New York, shivering a bit as she clutched her coffee. She had brought the cookies that Mikey had so desperately asked for. The park. That was the place the boys had chosen to meet up. She was surprised when Mikey had announced it to her. She wasn’t expecting to go out today but this is a nice change up. She checked her phone only to see a message from Mikey asking if they could bring another friend.

She just told him the more the merrier. Looking out at all the people around in the park, she kept her eye on a couples kids, throwing snowballs and laughing as they played

She hadn’t even realized that the group was there until someone covered her eyes and said “guess who~”

She smiled lightly and took the hands off her eyes “hi Mikey. Here’s the cookies” she said, standing up and handing him the container, which he took quickly, taking off the lid and munching on the sweets until Raph chastised him for hogging them

While the two were arguing, Ava noticed another person. It was a woman. She seemed to be around Raphs age or even a year older. Her hair was in a beautiful curly Afro, reaching down to her shoulders. Her jacket was green with black cargo pants, which hung loosely over her legs.

She had flawless dark brown skin, beautiful brown eyes and a pair of red glasses.

Leo noticed the two staring at each other and he moved next to them. “Ava, this is our big sister April, April, this is our new friend Ava!” He said enthusiastically. They never told her they had a big sister.

“Hi, it’s good to meet you!” she said, holding out her hand. Ava took it gingerly, feeling very small now compared to the woman near her. Just from the way she said things, she seemed to have a sort of confidence and sass about her.

“Hi” she said, letting go and avoiding April’s gaze. April noticed this and put her hands in her jacket pockets. “The boys told me about you! I’m really glad I’m meeting you!” She said cheerfully. April was hoping to help her feel comfortable with her.

“Thank you” Ava said, still not looking at her. April looked at Donnie, who only shrugged. The woman then smiled at Ava and asked “how old are you?” Ava finally looked up “oh! I’m seventeen!” She answered

April smiled widely “I thought so! I forgot to ask the boys about that earlier” Ava gave an awkward laugh. “You know, you guys never told me you had an older sister” she said, glancing at the boys. “Well, not biologically. she’s known us for many, many years now so she’s basically our sister” Leo answered

Ava’s eyebrows rose in curiosity “oh, how long have you guys known each other?” “11 years” Donnie answered. April nodded “yeah, I met them when I was ten”

“Wait, so you’re twenty one years old??” Ava questioned. “Yup!” April answered. “Oh my gosh. I thought you might have been raphs age! but you’re older than you look!” The girl than covered her mouth and muttered “sorry that was rude”

April laughed, glad that the younger girl was feeling less shy around her “nah your good. If anything, that’s a compliment!” She then swung an arm around Ava’s shoulder and started to walk with her “alright! You guys wanna head to the coffee shop?” The older woman yelled over her shoulder. The boys all made comments of agreement and ran to catch up with the two girls

In the coffee shop, the group had chatted and hung out together. Ava and April had hit it off easily, now talking about the things they like. April talked about her collage and Ava explained her study’s on geology and science, which did pique Donnie’s interest.

“Oh man! You sound smart!” April exclaimed and Ava blushed “you would be surprised how often I get told the opposite” April than made a face of disbelief “who tells you your stupid?? Want me to beat them up??” She asked, leaning over and tapping her fingers on the table

Ava laughed and said “honestly it would be hard to track everyone down”

“Not really-“ Donnie tried to say before Raph kicked him from under the table, shutting him up quickly.

“But anyways, they’re wrong. You’re definitely not stupid” April reassured her. “That.. actually makes me feel better”

Raph smiled as he saw the two converse. April liked her, which was the final hit on the nail. She is potentially someone they could show their secret too.

“Omg, girl, we should totally go shopping sometime. I know a store you would really like!” April said, taking another sip of her hot coffee.

“That would be awesome! Here, want my phone number?” Ava asked and April nodded “would I ever!!” She exclaimed, grabbing her phone out of her pocket and giving it to the other girl to put her number in.

Soon, hours had passed by and the group was walking outside under the twilight colored sky. “It’s so pretty out here” Ava said. Maybe it’s not the sky that was pretty. Maybe it was being with everyone. She had only known the boys for a couple days and April even less, but it felt natural being with them

“Yeah it is! I should totally paint this!” Mikey exclaimed, bounding up next to April. “Could we hit the store before we head home?” He asked and April smiled “yeah sure! There’s something I gotta pick up anyways”

Ava yawned as it got darker. “You tired?” Leo asked, walking beside her. “Yeah it’s been a fun day” she answered as another yawn escaped her.

“I’m getting kinda tired as well. You want us to walk you home?” April asked, stopping mid walk to stare at Ava.

“Oh nah, I’m fine. It’s only a few blocks away” Mikey shook his head “no way. We are coming with you”

“Crime rates are much higher at night. I wouldn’t want you to walk alone at night” Raph said, giving her shoulder a small squeeze. “You sure it wouldn’t be too much of a burden?” She asked meekly.

“Of course not girl! You’re our friend now! We aren’t risking your safety” April told her. The boys nodded in agreement. “Let’s get you home!” Leo said, hooking his arm around hers and dragging her in the direction she said it was in

Back home, Ava laid down and got into the group chat. The noticed the boys had added April. She smiled and then sent the photos she had took on the trip

The frienemy project part two

Making her way in, she looked around the small store until her eyes landed on the headphones she was looking for. Beaming, she made her way to them and attempted to grab them, only for another hand to get it first

She looked up to see that Donnie had also been trying to grab them. He looked down and retracted his hand quickly once he realized they were touching. She backed up awkwardly, seeing his reaction to a small touch, she had reason to believe he didn’t like people being so close to him

“You can have them” she said, going to turn but he stopped her “no, you take them” he murmured, holding them out for her. She shook her head “it’s fine honestly” she told him, holding her hands out in front of her. He didn’t listen and stepped closer, still holding them for her to grab

“You can take them” he said a little louder this time. She backed up to walk away “nah, it’s fine-“ “take. Them” he sternly said, shoving the headphones into her arms and turning around, now making his way out. “Uh- Thank you” she quickly called as she realized what had happened. He turned around and nodded lightly, heading out of the store.

“Well that was surprisingly nice of him” she said to herself, going up to the counter and paying for the headphones. They did cost a bit but she had money to spare.

After she was done, she left the store, now walking to find the exit of the huge airport. She sighed and looked at a map which was on the wall. How did she forget where the exit was??

She sighed and got on her phone, scrolling it when suddenly a message from a random number popped up. It read ‘look behind you :)’

Ava sat still for a moment and then slowly turned around, scared of what she might see. Once she did, she saw the four boys! They were all in the ice cream store, Donnie and Raph at the counter ordering, Leo and Mikey sitting at one of the tables

Mikey made eye contact with the girl and got up, now waving and yelling “Ava!! Come over here!” With him yelling, suddenly everyone looked over at her. She felt her face grow hot from embarrassment. What was he doing??

“Yeah come on!” Leo also yelled. Maybe if she ignored them, they would stop it. But they didn’t, instead they kept yelling towards her until she angrily made her way over to them

“What is wrong with you guys??” She asked, and Mikey smirked, “we had to get your attention somehow”

She clenched her jaw “by drawing attention to me??” Leo shook his head “that part, we didn’t mean to do. That happened on accident”

“Oh you yelled to me in the middle of public?? Why wouldn’t that draw attention?” Ava asked sarcastically. Before Leo or Mikey had the chance to protest, Ava asked “which one of you texted me?”

“Oh that was me” Mikey answered. Ava was confused. She didn’t remember giving him her phone number. “How did you get my number?” She questioned, now suspicious. Mikey almost looked nervous but shook it off, shrugging “you told me on the plane” she furrowed her brows. Had she told him??

“Anyways, you want ice cream?” Leo asked, pointing a thumb behind him towards the counter where they got it

“Ah, no thank you” she said, trying to let him down easy but he wasn’t having it. “Nope. To celebrate you becoming our friend, you get ice cream with us. K’peesh?” Leo asked, arching a brow as he jut a hip out, allowing his hand to rest on it

“But-“

“No buts. What flavor do you want?” He asked, standing and waiting for her answer. She didn’t answer. He smiled widely “that’s how you wanna play it huh?” He questioned, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

She still didn’t answer. He clicked his tongue in amusement, now sauntering his way over to the counter where Donnie and Raph where. Ava could hear him talking with the cashier. Donnie made a glance back at her and then looked back to the cashier.

Leo than came back and handed her the ice cream.. it was pistachio. Why pistachio?? It was literally the worst flavor

Leo’s smirk widened as he watched her reaction. Mikey also was very amused with how she was acting. Ava glanced at the two then her ice cream. ‘Time to put my acting skills to the test’ she thought as she picked the spoon up and took a bite, now forcing it down her throat.

She was extra aware of how her face looked, making sure no form of disgust or discomfort appeared as she grimaced on the inside

Leo shook his head lightly, chuckling “if you don’t like it, just tell me, I’ll get you a new one” he almost sounded.. cocky.

He was doing this on purpose. To get her to agree.

“No I like it” she lied, taking another small bite. “Hmm that’s weird. Why are you eating it so slow?” Mikey questioned, the same smirk on his face. She could definitely tell that these two where related

“I enjoy it more if I eat it slow. Most people do” she said, trying to counter with another lie. Based on Mikey’s face, it didn’t work whatsoever

“You eat fast. On the plane you managed to deck out a whole bag of chips in ten minutes”

She clenched her jaw and forced a smile. How the hell did she not notice that? And how could he tell how fast she ate something by a couple snacks??

“Ice cream is different” she tried to answer with before Leo suddenly said “cookies and cream” she continued putting the ice cream in her mouth

‘I wish this was cookies and cream. I love that stuff’

“Got you” Leo smugly said, leaning over and pointing a finger at her. She raised a brow “what do you mean??” She asked and he made eye contact with Mikey. Apparently they knew something she didn’t.

Leo than took the ice cream, getting up and throwing it in a nearby trash can before going back over to the counter

“Wha-what was that for??” Ava asked, leaning back in her chair, sliding her hands across her face in embarrassment. Just what was Leo doing??

“He’s getting you the kind you like” Mikey answered, as if it was the most obvious thing in the entire world. “Really. I would have never known” she answered sarcastically. Leo then came back Along with Donnie and Raph, who sat down at the table with her and Mikey

Leo handed her the ice cream and she took it gingerly. “There you go” he said lightly, sitting down next to Donnie.

Ava picked up the spoon and started to eat it, head down as she tried to shake the hotness on her face. She could not believe this guy.

“You seem to be enjoying this one way more than the other” Mikey said thoughtfully. Ava stopped and sat for a moment

“Oh yeah? How?” She asked. “You’re eating it much faster this time” she stared at him, blank faced. How the HELL did he notice that?? She was sure she slowed down on purpose!

“What’s going on?” Raph asked, and that’s when she remembered that Donnie and Raph hadn’t been around for the whole conversation. She was actually relieved for that. She doesn’t need to be embarrassed in front of all of them. Donnie looked up at her and stared her down, as if he heard his name in her head. She shuffled awkwardly in her seat. The teen than rolled his eyes and looked back to his phone

Mikey saw this and chuckled continuing to eat his own ice cream in from of him.

“So how’s your day been?” Raph asked Ava, staring down at her in her seat. She sighed “oh it would have been awesome if LEO didn’t insist on bothering me”

Raph made a face at Leo “why were you bothering her?” “Well I had to get her to agree to stay with us somehow!” He exclaimed, slurping down his milkshake. “And look, she enjoys being with us!”

“I’d rather be home” Ava quickly corrected and Donnie raised and eyebrow before saying “she’s lying”

Ava narrowed her eyes at him “how so?” Leo asked, leaning over to hear his brother speak

“She enjoys our company quite a bit” Donnie answered, staring the girl down from across the table. Leo chuckled “of course she does. We are awesome!”

Ava felt her face burn up for the 50 time today. She than made her face go neutral and shook her head “as much as I do enjoy y’all’s company Leo is making it very, very hard”

“Well I needed to convince you somehow” Leo retorted back, waving his spoon in the air like he was casting a spell. He had a funny way of expressing himself when he talked

Raph then got Ava’s attention by telling her something’s he liked doing, as his other brothers but Donnie had before. They talked for a bit before Ava announced she needed to head home. A couple of groans and compliments were heard from the group, but they quickly stopped when Ava asked for phone numbers. They had all eagerly done it, except Donnie who refused. She still ended up getting his phone number from Mikey, who added her to a group chat.

They parted ways once again, but this time she felt happier. Now there’s a chance to hang out with them again.

Down into the lower levels of the parking lot, Raph unlocked the car and got into the drivers seat. Donnie eyed the front passenger seat only for Leo to grab it first, making him groan as he got into the seat behind Leo’s, Mikey on the opposite side.

“She’s cool” Raph said, looking back and driving out of the place. “I can’t wait to see her again!” Mikey exclaimed, fidgeting with pent up energy. The three could tell that he was definitely going to be skating all night to get it all out

“I do feel a little bad for messing with her so much. I mean.. you could tell she was confused” Leo murmured the last part, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly.

Even Donnie could see it. And he didn’t normally pick up on things like that.

“She seemed fine when we left” Raph said nonchalantly, now on the freeway. “I hope we didn’t hurt her feelings” Mikey said quietly. “She seems like she could be a good friend. I don’t wanna ruin that” he finished

Leo murmured something in agreement but it wasn’t audible

The frienemy project part one

Staring at her phone, she watched as the bubbles popped up, signaling that her brother was typing. She sighed when the text finally came in, reading

‘Tell me when you get home. Ok?’

She slightly shook her head but not in a way of disdain. She knew he was just making sure she was safe

Ava was flying back from Tokyo Japan and back home to New York. She had gone for her relatives who hadn’t seen her in quite a few years. She figured it was time to pay a visit. The trip lasted 14 days and as fun as it was, she was ready to go home.

She looked out the window and smiled. The city was beautiful as the sun shone down on all its glory. She’s glad she made this trip.

Hearing the lady on the speaker say it was time to board her flight, she checked her phone quickly, the face of it reading 4:50

She pocketed her phone and grabbed her bags, waiting in line until she could board

Making her way into the plane, she looked for the seat H-2, which was somewhere in the back. Once she found it, she sat down and got comfortable, pulling out her computer and finishing her study on a crystal that was deemed very rare

About 20 minutes had gone by and she was done. People were still boarding the plane, but not many had gone as far back as she was.

‘Maybe I’ll get to ride by myself this time’ she thought hopefully, grimacing at the memory of lady she had sat by on the way here. It wasn’t her fault that her baby was crying the whole time, but the 14 hour ride had been stressful until the child finally managed to fall asleep

Looking around at the nearly empty compartment, the girl put her headphones on and then looked back at her computer, starting to type up another chapter of the story she was making.

Just when she thought she could be alone, she heard a voice- no. Multiple voices coming closer to her as she tried to ignore it and keep typing

“Im so tired” one voice whined, seeming very exhausted by the way he said it. “We get it Leo. You have said it 36 time just in ten minutes” another monotone voice came. “Eh, who’s counting” the first voice asked “I am” the second answered. “Knock it off” a deeper gruff voice said next. “Just get to your seats” it finished

Than, taking off her headphones, the girl saw two boys pass by, looking at the seats intently

The first one, was dressed in blue, he had bleached, curly chin lengthened hair, tan skin and vitiligo, which seemed to be shaped in almost crescents, with spots around them. His jacket zipped halfway down to reveal a white tank top under and shorts where what he was wearing for bottoms. He looked back, a Cheshire smile on his face “I found our seats Donnie~” he called, almost taunting

“Oh fantastic” a voice muttered sarcastically “sorry if that sounded sarcastic. Im genuinely happy you did” the next boy said, who had a purple hoodie on and black jeans. Headphones around his neck. His skin was a pretty dark brown and he had dreads around shoulder length, which was tied back by the purple bandanna around his head.

“I know!” The one named Leo said, as a reassurance that he understood.

She could feel herself blushing. Why were these two so damn attractive?? What gave them the right??

She turned her head away from the one who she identified as Donnie, who just narrowed his eyes at what he though was “weird behavior”

She looked around and saw he wasn’t there anymore and she let out a sigh, only to see he and Leo where.. sitting behind her.. this was just lovely

“Ralph!” Leo called, and as he said it, another guy in an outfit which consisted nearly of one color, came walking into the row, dragging a smaller boy, who only rolled his eyes as he was thrown into the seat next to her

She looked at the guy and her mouth felt like it had dropped on the floor. This guy was over six feet tall, large shoulder and body build, which consisted of A-LOT of muscle. He wore dark jeans, a red tank top and a small necklace. He had short curls in his hair, which were also dyed red, dark brown skin and a sharp eyes.

The boy next to her had longer curls, the tips died orange. He had dark orange shorts and a multicolored jacket which wasn’t zipped up showing that he was wearing a black t shirt, which seemed to have orange paint in some places. His skin was a bit lighter than the guy dressed in red, who she learned was Raph. The boy had a younger looking face than the other three, giving him an almost innocent look

‘Oh great.. all of them are handsome as fuck and here I am looking like trash’ she thought to herself, and subconsciously she pulled out a mirror and started to check herself. Once she realized what she was doing, she quickly shoved the mirror back into her pocket, not wanting to believe she was even caring

The youngest looking one, whose name she had still not got, looked over at her and asked what she was doing.

“I’m writing a story” she answered, trying to ignore how close he was to her as he leaned over “can I read it?” She fidgeted with her hands as she moved her legs to keep her computer out of view. The boy studied her reaction and smiled lightly

“It’s fine. You don’t have to show me if you don’t want” she was very glad he said that, though she still felt bad “I’m sorry” she muttered, still typing to hurry up and finish the chapter

“No, it’s fine! I understand. Sometimes I make things and I’m scared people are going to judge them”

..judge her story? Was that what she was afraid of?

She was about to say something but stopped when he jumped in his seat “OH!” He exclaimed, sitting back down awkwardly once he realized what he had just done

“Sorry! I just figured out what I had forgotten!” She tilted her head and nodded. “I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Michelangelo, but you can call me Mikey” he said, smile literally beaming as he looked at her. She felt taken aback by his friendly attitude.

She sat there for a moment before answering with “nice to meet you. I’m Ava” Mikey’s eyebrows raised “Ava? That’s a pretty name!” He said, making her gush a bit. “Oh- thanks.. it’s not really anything special”

Just than, the one directly behind her stood up and said smugly “I’m Leonardo. But you can call me any time” Ava could hear Mikey and Donnie groan loudly, saying things like “leave her alone that that!” And “Leo, nobody wants to hear your awful one liners”

Ava shook her head, trying to hide the blush that was rapidly forming on her face. Leo caught this and smirked “see? She likes it!” The said girl started to smack her self in the face

“Leo, just because she’s blushing doesn’t mean she likes it. It could be from anger or embarrassment!” Mikey shot back, grabbing Ava’s arms in attempts to get her to stop hitting herself

She was blushing because what he had said, but she wasn’t about to correct Mikey. She was actually really glad he had said something

“Alright alright, I’m sorry Ava. In all seriousness, you can call me Leo” the boy said, patting her shoulder in reassurance. Mikey nodded, thankful that Leo hadn’t embarrassed him in front of a potential friend.

“So who’s the one in purple?” Ava asked, knowing full well who he was, but she also wanted to hear his full name. Based on what Leo and Mikey’s names were, it had to be something longer than Donnie. Only one name came to mind but she wanted to be sure

“That’s a need to know basis” Donnie said, not looking up at her as he scrolled his phone. “Donnie. No need to be rude.” Mikey told him, a look of disapproval on his face

“She doesn’t NEED to know-“

“That’s Donatello. Donnie for short” Leo interrupted. Donnie growled and glared at the boy next to him. “Seriously???” He questioned. Leo shrugged “you just had to introduce yourself. It’s not that hard”

Ava turned back forward in her seat when she heard the plane was starting to move. She and Mikey were seated comfortably and chatted as the plane started going up. Behind them, Ava could hear Leo squealing quietly as the plane made its way into the air

“I love it when this happens!!” He told Donnie, excited clearly. “I don’t” Donnie exasperated, putting earplugs in his ears which reminded Ava that the way up would make her ears feel weird. Mikey didn’t seem to mind at all as he just kept chatting about hobbies he had

Which consisted of drawing, painting, reading comics, skateboarding, watching his favorite shows, beating his brothers at video games and such

From the way he talked about his brothers, he clearly thought very fondly of them.

“Yeah so anyways, Leo was crying like a little baby when he landed on his face” Mikey said, laughing as he told a story about when Leo was trying to show off and ended up tripping

Leo scoffed and leaned over Ava’s seat to glare at Mikey “you trying to ruin my reputation with the new friend?? And just so you know Ava, that NEVER happened. I didn’t cry”

“Yes you did. I have it on video” Donnie said, now also coming into the conversation. “Whose side are you on??” Leo asked, now also glaring at his brother. The two started to argue

“How old are all of you??” Ava asked suddenly, which stopped the two from further discussing wether or not Leo cried when he face-planted

“I’m 16. Donnie and Leo are twins, they are 17. And Raph is 18” Mikey quickly answered. Ava looked back and met eyes with the one named Raph, who was sitting in the far back. He gave a small wave. She returned it and sat back down. “How bout you?” He asked her. “I’m also 17”

“When’s your birthday??” Leo asked, a smug smile on his face. “February 5. What about you?” She asked, still not sure why Leo was looking at her like that

Leo gasped and dramatically groaned, laying back into his seat and covering his face with his hands. “She’s older than me?? Are you serious??” His words muffled into his hands

“She’s older than me too. It’s not a big deal” Mikey said, lips in a thin line showing he wasn’t very amused with how dramatic his older brother was acting.

“Everyone is older than you” Leo shot back, now sitting up. “That’s not true!!” Mikey snapped

“When’s your birthday?” Ava asked and Donnie shot her a look “don’t tell her that” he tried to say to Leo but it no avail. “August 13” he said quickly, smirking at Donnie

“Fine. Don’t listen to a thing I say” Donnie grumbled, leaning back into his chair and crossing his arms, clearly annoyed with his brothers antics

“He’s embarrassed because he shares a birthday with me” Leo said, an edge of arrogance in his tone. “Your insufferable” was all Donnie said as he rolled his eyes and looked back to his phone

“Hey Mikey, you want to watch anything?” Ava asked, pulling out her computer and getting into Netflix. Mikey’s eyes lit up “yes I would! Oooo, let’s get some snacks!” He said, searching in his bag by his feet and pulling up a bag of chips and pretzels. “Want some?” He asked, holding out the bag of chips to her

“Yeah sure hold up” she said, getting the Oreos she had packed for the trip. Normally she doesn’t like sweets but Oreos are ok. Mikey took some when they were offered to him, humming in satisfaction as he chewed the sweet.

“Alright, what do you want to watch?” She asked, handing him a headphone, which he took gingerly. “Anything really” he said, eyes focused as she scrolled for something. Eventually she came across friends and clicked it. She looked at Mikey for approval, who just stared at it for a moment. “Have you seen friends?” She asked and he shook his head

“So episode one?” She asked. He shrugged “yeah I don’t mind!” She went to season one and clicked the first episode, letting it play.

A little bit later, Leo had noticed the two and stood up. “Ooo, are we watching something??” His eyes than landed on the Oreos, eyes gleaming in delight “can I have some?” He asked, pointing down to them

Ava was about to answer but Mikey beat her to the punch “no way! Bring something to share first!” He told him. Leo gave a chuckle “oh ho ho. Luckily for me, I did” he than pulled out a whole pizza, much to everyone’s, even Donnie’s surprise

“Wh- where did you get a whole ass pizza???” Mikey asked, now seeming annoyed. “That’s for me to know and you to find out” Leo told him, handing Ava and Mikey a slice. Ava than gave Leo a couple Oreos, who was more than grateful. “Leo..” Mikey seethed lowly. Leo saw the look on his younger brothers face and playfully rolled his eyes “relax Michael. I got it on the way here”

Mikey huffed and went back to watching the show. Leo was going to sit back down but his interest was piqued when he saw the show they were watching. “Can I watch with you guys?” He asked. Ava had to stop herself from smiling. These guys were honestly really fun to be around. She would totally have to get their numbers later

She than, without any word, took the earphones out of the jack to the computer and leaned her seat back so leo could see. Mikey than looked over at Donnie, who only sighed and nodded. Mikey smiled and leaned his seat back as well to see the show

About an hour later, Leo had already deemed Joey and Rachel as his favorite characters, making little comments like “that’s something I would do” whenever Joey did something funny

Leo then said “Ross is just like Donnie” upon hearing this Donnie put down his phone and started to watch as well and after a bit became amused when he saw that indeed, the character Leo had mentioned did share similar feelings on certain subjects. Ava didn’t know that Donnie had been watching but Leo and Mikey did.

“I personally like phoebe” Mikey said, putting his hand to his chest to make a bigger point. Ava finally realized Donnie had been paying attention once he said “yeah she’s weird. Like you”

Mikey scoffed and threw a middle finger Donnie’s way, who only ignored it.

Another couple hours past and they had moved on from watching stuff to now chatting and getting ready to sleep. The computer was still on, but it was playing quiet music. Both teens in front had their seats lowered still to converse with Donnie and Leo in the back

Mikey had gotten a blanket out and shared it with Ava, who laid back and listen to Leo talk about what he liked and such.

“You want a pillow?” Mikey asked, holding it out for her. She had already accepted sharing his blanket but she wasn’t about to accept this. “No thank you” he just blinked and handed it to her. “What? I just said-“

“I have another one” he said, pulling out a pillow identical to the one he had just given her, laying on it and putting his hands behind his head as he continued to listen to the conversation Leo and her where having

“And so now Donnie over here was all like “you can’t do it. And I was like “yes I can. And guess what? I did it!” Leo exclaimed, finishing the story on how he had beat the pizza stack record.

Donnie scoffed and said “I assure you. It won’t happen again” a wide smug grin spread across Leo’s face “that’s exactly what he said last time” he told Ava, who chuckled and rolled her eyes.

“It’s getting late” Mikey said softly, staring at the time on his phone, which read 11:03. That meant that six hours of the ride had already passed by.

“You’re right. I’m kinda tired” Ava said, leaning back in her chair and yawning lightly. Mikey sighed contentedly as he snuggled up on his ginormous fluffy blanket. Behind her, Ava could hear Leo and Donnie getting their blankets and lying down.

“Hey Ava?” Mikey’s voice came from the silence on the plane. “Yeah?” She asked, leaning over to him so she wouldn’t disturb the other two. “Are we friends?” He asked, looking over at her. She sucked in a breath and blinked in thought before answering “yeah, we are friends. You guys are pretty cool”

Mikey smiled “that’s great. You’re pretty cool too” the girl could feel her emotional walls start to come down. “Thanks Mikey” she said, pulling the blanket further up her arms and looking back only to flinch and go “Jesus!” As she saw a pair of wide eyes staring at her. It took her a moment to register that it was just Leo’s sleep mask

“You ok?” Mikey asked, not opening his eyes. “I’m fine. Leo’s sleep mask scared the shit out of me” she answered, still shaken up by the sight

“HA! It worked!” Leo exclaimed as quietly as he could. Donnie groaned, rolling to his side to try and sleep.

From the back, Raph could hear the two talking. To be honest, he had heard the four of them talk for hours. A small part of him had wished to be part of it, but he also wanted to listen and hear how she was towards his younger brothers.

From the way they all interacted, the three younger brothers seemed to have no issue with her. Of course Donnie was being a bit edgy, but he’s always like that. He heard them all tell jokes and exchange stories about their childhoods, their hobbies and such, before they started to watch a show. He didn’t know what it was, but his brothers seemed to enjoy it, so that’s all that matters to him.

Honestly, just with how she was with them, he already liked her. He just hoped she would accept them if they ever showed her their true selves

Ava woke up being shaken awake by Mikey. The plane had landed. The clock said it was 6:34. It confused her for a moment before she remembered. Ahh right. Time zone change. She looked back and saw Leo and Donnie getting packed up. Raph already next to the two

“Thanks for letting me use your pillow and blanket last night” she said, running her fingers through her hair to try and attempt to brush it out.

Mikey smiled “no problem!” He said, handing her a hairbrush once he noticed what she was doing

“Can’t have my new bestie being uncomfortable right?” He finished. Ava smiled lightly, handing him his pillow which he put in his bag. Ava went around him and tried to grab her bags, I say try because Mikey got to them first, lifting them out of the compartment above them and setting them down

“Thank you!” Ava said, surprised that he did that for her. “No problem!” Mikey answered back

Looking at him, a small part of the girl was sad that the plane ride had ended so soon.

“UM. Who said she was YOUR bestie??” Leo asked, swinging an arm around the girls shoulders. “Me!” Mikey answered and Leo was about to say something before Raph came and interrupted. “Let’s get moving”

Leo moved his arm from her shoulders and stood next to her as they walked forward.

“What do you guys plan on doing when you get off?” Ava asked, hoping to continue talking with them before inevitably parting ways. “Get food I hope” Mikey answered and Leo nodded “let’s get ice cream. I’m feeling some cookies and cream!” Mikey nodded vigorously

“Hey Raph! Can we get ice cream when we get off?” Leo asked, shooting a look behind him towards his older brother. Raph sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Sure if that’s what everyone wants”

“Yes!” Mikey said. “How bout you Donnie?” Leo asked, looking over at said teen. “Sure” was all he answered with.

“Great! I’ll pay” Leo told them. Leo then stared at Ava “you should join us! Unless you have other plans” Ava nodded. “I’m sorry I do” it hurt her to say that, but it was true. She was going to head to the store that held Bluetooth items, maybe pick up a snack then head home

“Aw man” Leo said, sounding genuinely disappointed. “Maybe next time” he finished.

Now off the plane, Ava and the boys said their goodbyes and went different ways. She could hear their excited chatter as it echoed through the air port. She smiled and made her way to the Bluetooth store
