When It All Ends +Intro

Hello! my name is Ajay! This is The prologue to me new series When it all Ends. In spirit of Pride month I decided to let this story see the light of day.

This is an apocalyptic story about 3 lesbians as they navigate danger and the end of the world as they know it and only having each other to rely on.

With that being said as this is an apocalyptic story I do have to give you some Trigger Warnings

When it all Ends-Chapter 0

The sounds of screams were deafening, gunshots rang loud piercing the air of N & W Medical Research Facility. The plain white walls were stained red as multiple masked assailants charged through the halls shooting any researcher they could find.

Inside one of the many rooms of the East wing hid two women. One laying on the ground a puddle of blood slowly growing from underneath her and the other kneeling on her side.

“Jiya listen to me , I need you to calm down. The door is locked, we will be fine, they can’t see inside here, we just need to stay quiet. I will be okay” said a woman with a shaky voice and bloodied hands as she layed on the ground. Dr. Karmen was the name displayed on the yellow name tag fastened on her blood soaked lab coat. Karmen looked over to her right seeing her teary eyed Junior , Jiya. Jiya was crying and hastily pressing cloth to Karmen’s left side which was actively bleeding due to a gunshot she sustained when the research facility was first sieged.

“I’m trying but you're losing a lot of blood , I-I don’t know what to do. When is help getting here ?! it should not be taking this long” said the younger girl Jiya clearly on the verge of breaking down as tears ran down her cheeks.“ You're going to be okay , you need to be okay!! ” said the girl frantically as she continued to apply pressure on Karmen’s wound. Karmen simply nodded, losing the energy to reply. All that was heard throughout the room after that was Jiya’s silent sobs in the midst of the screams coming from outside the room.

Outside the facility was chaos as researchers who could flee out the facility there were multiple police authorities and emt’s outside tending to the many injured that came running out the building. One of the personnel was Xander Johnson , Northwick County Police Chief. Xander’s hands were planted on her hips. “ We need to move in , we can not waste any more time! We are sacrificing more lives the longer we stall out here” yelled Xander as she met with the other government officials that gathered. In front of her was Major Watson, a Major General at a military base nearby that was called here to assist , he was the typical military man. He was big, a bit rough around the edges, his hands were glued to his sides, always positioned as if he was always ready to go ,his posture oozed with confidence. There was also The Fire Chief Derick Tucker the local fire chief who was on standby just in case. These three were currently inside a makeshift tent while their employees were getting ready and on standby. The three were standing around a table. They were previously speaking about plans. Nothing like this has ever happened before, especially not in a quiet town like Northwick County so everyone was on edge. The EMT and medical personnel were very busy running around and tending to the injured researchers and visitors that were rushing outside the facility.They created a makeshift hospital that gave emergency care to those who needed it before they were rushed to the hospital.

“Chief Johnson, we do not know how many of them are there or even what their goal is. If we just rush in there we would be going in their blind” said Watson. Xander gritted her teeth at the rebuttal but yes she knew that they had no idea what was going to happen but the idea of just sitting there and doing nothing was gnawing at her. She took a deep breath to clear her head but as soon as that breath left her throat , a large BOOM and Crack was sounded throughout the air as a large explosion went off in the South wing of the building causing the entire area and building to shake as fire started to quickly spread.

Back inside the building there was chaos. The remaining researchers not caught up in the explosion were injured and started to feel the heat of the fire, many sustained burns; others who couldn’t walk out crawled as the structure of the building started to give in on itself. The tremor and sound of the explosions jolted Karmen out of unconsciousness. She spoke to the frightened Jiya “ W-We need to move..” she said weakly as she struggled to get up. Clutching her wounded side. Jiya wiped her tears away quickly using her body to support Karmen as she struggled to stand up.

“We don’t know how many of them are out there” Jiya said the fear was clearly heard throughout her voice. Jiya’s mind was running 100 miles per minute as her shaky hands wrapped around Karmen's body to hold her up. Jiyas hands were shaking just like the building. The sounds of glass shattering and the rumbling of the ceiling was loud. So loud in fact that they could feel it throughout their body.

“ We can’t stay here Jiya, the building might collapse. That fire might cause the other chemicals to start reacting. Plus there are no more gunshots.” Karmen said shakily as she leaned on to Jiya using her as support. Karmens weight was heavy for jiya. But the weight of the situation was even heavier. Jiya nodded in understanding as the smoke started to fill her nose she started to move trying her best to support Karmen. They started to slowly make the door. Karmen used her other hand to grab the keycard in her pocket and unlocked the door.

Outside the building Xander was having the same thoughts. She turned to Sergeant Watson. “ The sounds of gunshots have stopped. We can't waste anymore time we need to get in there. I will go in there myself if I have to” said Xander as she turned to Watson whose hands were crossed over his chest. His eyes were closed as he thought. Chief Tucker agreed with Xander.

“My guys are going to start putting some of the fires out. We can not let this fire spread , the facility is surrounded by forest that needs to be contained here or this entire town is in danger. And this is clearly an organized move if you guys don’t apprehend them now there is a possibility they strike somewhere else.” Chief Tucker said, backing up Xander. Major Watson had no choice but to agree. They all started to suit up. Xander, who was already ready to go, went to her team.

“Lets Go! We have gotten the Greenlight, we are going in” said Xander as she pulled the gas mask over her head and turned to head towards the building with her team following her. They were in a triangle position close together with Xander at the front. Their firearms were pointed forward as the entered through the main gate entering into the North Wing. Xander and 3 policemen cleared the front . They were positioned a little but further up they walked over the bodies of the dead researchers while two officers that lagged a little behind the, were given a signal by Xander to check for signs of life, which they did. Three other officers were behind them staying behind and checking their rear for any threats signaling to other teams whose rooms were cleared. Unfortunately the North wing looked like a Massacre. It seemed like the entrance took the brunt of the fire. Though there weren’t many bodies around there were bloodied hand prints on the walls and bodies layed around. There were other researchers who were leaving the building through the same entrance.

“We have Survivors! Backup is needed quickly!” Xander radioed. “ Jack get these guys out to the EMT , I'm going to go check for more injured Alex to come with me” Xander said as she continued to check the rooms of the Northern Wing.

Meanwhile, Karmen and Jiya, opened the door to a terrifying sight. There were bodies on the floor.The Wing was void of survivors outside the two. Luckily the East Wing wasn't far from the North Wing where the main entrance was. The two women stumbled their way through the sea of chaos. Karmen’s wound, though wrapped with the tatters of Jiya’s ripped Lab coat, was still bleeding. Her feet sluggishly moved one after the other. Karmen with one arm over Jiya’s shoulder and the other clutching her side. Her eyes were low and her vision was hazy as they made their move. Jiya on the other hand was holding up Karmen with all her might taking the brunt of Karmen’s weight, tears falling down her face as her nose was getting assaulted by the strong scents of chemicals and smoke as fire spread throughout the building.

“Fuck..Fuck … Fuck” whispered Jiya as she moved as quickly as she could while supporting Karmen. Her lungs were burning, her eyes were red and there was a huge pain building up behind her eyes as she cried. The bodies on the floor and the growing weight being put on her as Karmen struggled and got weaker filled her with urgency. “Please Karmen, Come one you're going to be okay. Please , Please stay with me Kar. Please” Jiya Coughed out sobbing as she continued holding up Karmen the fumes burning her lungs.

Karmen coughed weakly, her voice coming out barely a whisper as the fumes lulled her further and further away from consciousness. “Yeah..I’m here…..” Karmen said her eyes were barely open. As she continued to trug her way towards the Northern Wing with Jiya. As they turned to the wing they saw policemen with guns but closest to them a woman with Black locks tied into a bun with a mask on was the closest to them.

“Help us!! Please” said Jiya her voice horse the strength in her body lowering as her knees start to buckle. That women turned her head making eye contact with them. She quickly tucked her gun away and ran to Karmen and Jiya. Jiya allowed herself to fall into the Arms of the women , Karmen naturally did so as well as the girl could barely hold herself up.

As Xander left the furthermost room to the entrance of the Northern Wing she spotted the two girls. After securing her gun she quickly ran to the two injured girls. She noticed the two Keycards around their neck ‘ Karmen and Jiya’ she noted in her head. As she arrived at them they both crashed into her. She saw the nasty wound on Karmen’s side. “Alex get this one” Xander handed Jiya of to Alex and Xander then took off her gas mask placing it on Karmens face and lifted her up gently not to aggravate the bleeding wound. Alex did the same for Jiya picking her up as well. “We got two injured here We are making our way out” Xander radio’d. Xander looked down to the woman in her arms. She observed that she quickly lost consciousness as her body went limp. Xander quickly made haste running to the entrance holding Karmen tightly. Alex was not far behind. The two made it out the entrance as other teams entered the building. The tow officers ran to the EMT’S and the rescue workers stations and laid the girls down on the empty beds. The health officials quickly ran and got straight to work.

Unbeknownst to all those that were there as the firefighters put out the fire from the aftermath of the explosion. A deep yellow smoke enveloped the sky as the fire was fought. Nobody thought a word of it , this was a research facility with all kinds of chemicals. Stranger things could have happened. But unfortunately for them this was not ordinary smoke.
