Asher specifically wrote about Farsi’s eyes and the moment Violet stepped on that island the man was immediately taken by how pretty her eyes (that she apparently got from her dad) were. Later on he was possessed that not only he was outsmarted by someone again (presumably the first time was by Asher) but that it was Asher’s daughter who did it.

Life problems

SPOILERS FOR END OF ONYX STORM!! Moaning about Slow readers jk , despicable friends

downloaded onyx storm to my kindle finished it in one day before either of my besties hard copies delivered and now there asking shit like are vi and Xaden together at the end of the book… UHH how am i supposed to answer that question they get married but xaden buggers off doesn’t feel non spoilery or comprehensive enough. I need help much love ❤️ side note i am now despite my irritation with plot wholes and stuff inspired to write my empyrean fics again so there’s that

slump

I’ve been in what I can only describe as a reading and writing slump for the past few months. I haven’t kept up to date with any of the fics I usually follow, and I haven’t read a book outside of fanfic in a while. My own writing has been affected as well. Recently, I came across a post from someone (I forget who) about their friend leaving fanfic writing due to a lack of comments, kudos, and general appreciation.

It hit close to home. While two of my fics aren’t heavily engaged with, one of them is quite popular. Ironically, it’s the one I think is the most poorly written, badly plotted, and poorly edited—and, as a result, it’s the one I enjoy writing the least. I empathized with the writer’s frustration about their work not being engaged with, but I’ve had to reconcile myself with the fact that this isn’t my problem right now.

Even though nobody has commented recently on Beneath the Willow Tree and Banishment, both have received kudos. Not a lot, but enough to let me know that people are enjoying the stories. On the other hand, Xaden’s PoV of Iron Flame has received plenty of comments and kudos, with readers petitioning me to upload the next chapter. Still, I’ve realized that the slump I’m in isn’t about external engagement. I don’t care how many comments or kudos I get when I’m in this state. It’s a different problem from not receiving engagement for hard work—something I feel strongly about but isn’t my current issue.

This past week, I’ve been in and out of the hospital with a bleed in my eye. In that downtime, I revisited one of my favorite works—funnily enough, the one that is the least popular. Reading through the two posted chapters and the introduction to the third chapter, I was struck by how much I wanted to continue writing it. Better yet, despite it only having four comments total, I still want to publish it because I genuinely enjoy working on it.

It’s a reminder that, for me, writing needs to come from a place of passion and self-fulfillment. Engagement is lovely, and I’m always grateful for it, but ultimately, the joy of writing—especially during tough times—is what keeps me going.

Just some thoughts I was having. If anyone has had similar experiences, I’d love to hear from you—it’s nice not to feel alone. On that positive note, I’m off to try and write Chapter 3 for Banishment because it’s the fic I enjoy writing the most, even if it has the least engagement.

BTWT chapter 14 snippit!

I didn’t just want her to stay because Willow brings warmth and life into this empty space. I wanted her to stay so I could fix her, to smooth out whatever had shaken her calm. The need to protect her, to control the situation, surged inside me like instinct. I wanted to grab hold of whatever was weighing her down, force it into submission until I saw the tension leave her shoulders, until she was content, at ease.

Imogen, though, is less focused on her phone and more on Garrick—her gaze flicking between him and her screen with a rhythm that’s almost too obvious.

I almost point it out to Bodhi, ready to tease Imogen for her not-so-subtle glances at Garrick, but something in Bodhi’s face makes me pause. He’s watching the group, but his focus isn’t scattered like mine. There’s a faint smile on his lips, softer than I’m used to seeing from him, a kind of quiet contentment that catches me off guard.

His gaze lingers on Liam.

hello, people were worried after the last chapter that Violet was evil. So here is something that perhaps may offer you some comfort or well will at least make you look at someone else with suspicion, an angst backstory Snippet, with most of it blacked out because plot

I’ve always set my stories in England ( I’m English) mainly just for geographical purposes ( fun fact if you look up the addresses in BTWT then they are actual places, I like to procrastinate by looking up houses and schools and parks I imagine the characters going to ( i need a life) question ? do people find it weird that I set the story in england?

i don’t know if someone already asked, but why make Violet and Xaden american when they could be from Australia, your home country?

You know what, I have no idea? Lol I think it just felt weird because everyone else makes them American so I suppose it makes them more palatable to a wider audience?

I’m writing another AU at the moment which is very American (for reasons) so I guess maybe that also made them American in my head haha. And Xaden’s achievements/events in ITD are based off Michael Phelps, so there’s that too.

I feel like everyone would think it was too weird if they were Australian? I'm still very patriotic though, the olympics will do that to you, so everything he's not winning, the aussies probably will 😂

I have been absent from all three of my WIPS for the last two weeks, on holiday. For context, I’m a surfer so I come down to Cornwall during Bordmasters and a bit after for the waves and I may or may not have drafted another WIP for a lifeguard x surfer romance with Xaden and Vi with Imogen x Garrick and Bodhi x Liam as key subplots and wanted to know if anyone would have any interest if I actually were to write this?? Xx
